Work was done on time with realistic estimates. Quoted me for exactly what I was asking for and not more. Would definitely use Button again.

Provided above Update: Have used this provider 3 times now and really appreciate the professionalism and "fair prices". We made the mistake of using another big Vendor (RR) two weeks ago because they had been out to service a prior problem before and they had quoted us a reasonable price for "Maintenance". Huge mistake and that plumber told me they work on commission, quoted me $3,000.00 for "excavation" to dig up a sewer pipe 18" below the service with easy access. Really??!! He was able to dig most of it up by shovel to install the proper "cleanout" lid. That plumber also afterwards gave me his card and told me he could do the work on the side for a discounted price. How unethical!!! Anyways, after dealing with that slimy used car sales man of a plumber it really makes me appreciate Button Plumbing and reinforces why we use them. They come out and attend to the problem at hand and don't try to up sale and over inflate their prices. Thank you Button Plumbing! Really appreciate it! We have learned our lesson!
Description of Work: Provider replaced a relief valve in our home and also replaced a shower drain connector in one of our rental homes. We were so happy with their friendly, thorough, professional and "reasonable" price in the repair of the rental home drain that we used them again for our home. Very happy with their service.

It went well! We had most of the parts Jim needed before starting work and he even took our old, dirty, cracked sink with him when he left! The best part is that when I drove up to the house (my husband was the one who was present for the whole job), Jim asked me where we bought the pipe kit for the sink because it had everything he needed to do the job right. Without that little pipe kit, he might've needed to go buy more parts! Ha! Loved that he was willing to ask and loved that they did the whole job in an hour and a half. Will definitely call again if we have any further plumbing issues! When I got inside to look at the work, my husband said they just plugged along and got everything done without needing to ask questions. The entire operation was flawless. Oh, and they loved our Scottish Terrier who also watched them attentively.

God what a nightmare. Button came out to give me an estimate and promptly made a joke about me having a midlife crisis. That should have been the sign to look elsewhere, but they were rated highly here. So, I ended up deciding to hire them. They came, and to their credit were on time and worked quickly. Getting someone to call me back on the phone was a little slow, but that was about it. They had pushed me not to pull a permit for the job because it "was more expensive", but I insisted on it. Turns out, they didn't bother to pull one. I didn't find out until they were packing up after finishing the job. So, I made them pull a permit (3rd time I'd asked). The inspection went fine, and the son of the owners put on an elbow while hooking the line back up after everything was done. However, he was on the phone and in a hurry. That's where the problems started. As it turns out, since he was in a hurry, he didn't bother to check the connections, and the elbow was leaking gas in to my house. I was out of the state and my wife was sick and could barely smell anything. She ended up calling Button because she thought she smelled something, but the woman on the phone said that was totally normal. I came home 2 days later to find a gas smell in my house. I put some soapy water on the connection and found the leak. I immediately called Button (because they said they had 24 hour service) and left a message saying I had a gas leak. I called again 30 minutes later and left yet another message. No one called me back. I ended up heading to lowes and fixing the connection myself. As it turns out, it looks like Button uses used parts on some of their jobs. The elbow they used had some pretty significant buildup on the inside, from what I can only think is long term use somewhere else. Button eventually called me the next day (half an hour after their stated normal business hours), and the younger Button showed up at my house half an hour later. What a mistake: A) He said I should have kept calling every 5-10 minutes because the phone rings in his parents office and they were out to dinner at 8:30-9pm. They say 24 hour service because his "mom put it on the website", even though it also says the same on the phone. Apparently, 24 hour service doesn't actually mean 24 hour service and they haven't heard of forwarding calls to a cell phone. B) He claimed there was no danger due to a gas leak and that my wife "would have gotten a bit sleepy, but that's about it". C) He claimed he had tested the connection by 'torching it'. So he ran a propane torch over it and apparently figured that was good enough. Apparently not. D) Somehow he claimed this was my fault. How, considering I wasn't even in the state at the time, I don't know. I guess I was supposed to call them every 5 minutes last night while I had a gas leak and hope they'd walk by their office phone and decide to pick it up. I shudder to think what might have happened, especially if someone didn't know how to turn the gas off to the entire house. Gas leaks are not a small problem and certainly are not something to minimize in the way that Button did. Oh, and to top it all off, when they left after redoing the connection for the second time, they forgot to relight my water heater. Not someone I'd ever use again. Update: Button came out for a third time to replace the used part they'd put on. I had them hand it to me so I could just do it myself and make sure it was actually done right. They gave me a 1/2" elbow that doesn't fit the 3/4" line they installed.
Description of Work: Button installed a new gas line for a gas cooktop in my house.

Response from BUTTON PLUMBING & HEATING, LLC
Wow, that is some kind of review, hard to read and certainly not ever our goal to insult our customers or minimize any issue that may arise. Yes, agreed any gas leak is a huge problem and we would never intentionally not respond. We do offer 24 hour service and do our level best to respond in a timely manner unfortunately that did not happen in this case, and we are sorry for that. However, we did return and rechecked the fitting and excepted your verbal insults and anger and accepted responsibility for the leak that you had repaired yourself. Regarding your statements of the permit issue, we are a licensed and bonded company, all of the work that we do is to the current plumbing and gas piping building code, we would NEVER tell a customer that they do not need a permit, yes it is an additional cost, only in that we DO NOT include the cost of the permit in our pricing, as each city has there own permit fees, there are no standard permit cost. The permit was purchased and on the your job the day we were there to install your gas pipe. The inspection was done at your convenience per your request, and we returned put the gas pipe on test and returned to take it off test after it was inspected and signed off without the need of any corrections, so apparently the job was done correctly the first time. When we returned to take the job off test it was requested by the owner for an additional fitting be added to the piping which we took the time to do, and did not charge for, and unfortunately this is the fitting that had the apparent leak. We value our reputation, and as a company owner, we take all reviews to heart and try very hard to treat all customers professionally, and also take responsibility when things go wrong. This experience with you is not a good representation of who we are or how 99% of our jobs go, and for that I apologize. At the end of the day I just wanted you and others to know that your complaints have be heard. Sincerely, James C Button - owner

We thought it was good for the price. They were not perfect but they were very good for what they charged; it was very fair. They were fast. Great to work with from start to finish. Honored a bid that was over a year old with a marginal increase in cost of piping. Very responsive in terms of answering my questions prior to the job. Punctual and got the job done in a day. Professional, courteous and as clean as possible. Very responsive in returning early the next day to fix a small leak. Thanks Button Plumbing!

I called and scheduled an appointment and received a time of 5-7 pm. Person on the phone was very nice, and I thought that the we had chosen well. We waited until after 7:30pm and called again to leave a message (recording said that messages were checked frequently). We received no visit, no callback. There wasn't even an apology today. Terribly inconsiderate on their part. We have been without water in our kitchen for 5 days now. Would never call them again. Update: Button wrote a response on this list, saying that they did call me back., to be clear, This is gtrue, but my first call at 7:30 pm on the Tuesday was not returned. It was not until I called the next morning after 9:30 am again and stated that I was leaving a bad review on Angie's that I received a call back. She called me after another firm had arrived and started the work - this was between 12:30 and 1pm. I am including this update because the provider response makes it sound as though they were prompt in their reply - they were not. To be fair, she was apologetic, but the amount of time it took to hear from them was still unacceptable.

[member name removed], As I stated on the phone when I did return your call that this was a major mistake on my part. Unfortunately sometimes things do fall through the cracks, and I did take full responsibility in not getting your call out to one of our technicians. I do understand how frustrating it was for you and I do apologize for that as I did on the phone. Customer service is very important to us, and all of us here try hard to make that our number one priority but mistakes do happen. Sincerely, Carole Button Plumbing

Excellent. Three other estimates were obtained from other plumbers but Mr. Button was the only one offering a solution to a difficult existing problem. Other providers did not feel there was any way to hook up the washer to the 65 gallon water heater but Button Plumbing did. So there is expertise and experience and reasonable pricing as well as a warranty for the work. The 20 gallon water heater was 9 years old and a constant worry as far as eventually leaking , Mr. Button was a pleasure to work with, professional and knowledgeable. The business is fairly busy, as an impression so it was necessary to follow up as the estimate was never received. But this was remedied after recontacting Button Plumbing by phone.
Description of Work: The provider rerouted water to a laundry room and washing machine using a 65 gallon water heater inside the residence, and disposed existing 20 gallon water heater which was fairly inaccessible (behind a wall in a stairwell). The 20 gallon water heater, while in proximity, appeared to be installed as a part of an old remodel (addition of laundry room), unbeknownst when the home was purchased.

I found this company on Angie's List and was initially impressed with their "A" ratings and super service award status. After two emails (the company said they never received the first email, which I sent from the Angie's List website) and a phone attempt to arrange for an estimate, we were able to make arrangements. The company's owner provided us with some alternatives and the approximate cost verbally and promised to email samples of what a tub replacement might look like, including a written estimate. That was on February 18th. Despite a follow-up email and phone call, as of March 4th we are still waiting. We want to get this work done but have given up on this company. We could understand if the job is too small or they are too busy with other projects, but we would have appreciated the courtesy of a phone call or email to let us know. In any event we need to move ahead. I consulted Angie's List again this morning and called Another Plumber (that's their name). We are hoping for better luck this time. It appears to be a smaller company and perhaps will be more responsive. The owner set an appointment this Thursday morning for an estimate.

Plumber came at designated time range. Immediately listened to problem and concerns and took action. Initially plumber thought leak was no issue but after snooping around learned we needed to change pipe connectors to resolve issue. Seemed a bit in haste although time charge by hour, as he mentioned needed to get to another big project asap. That's the way plumbers work as long as it done correctly I had no concerns. Only take cash/check which is fine, but wish knew that in advance.

Once my project was ready for plumbing, they came in and dove into the project. I needed a vent tube moved about 2 feet, due to a new door going in that spot. I was surprised, rather than routing the tube to the existing vent out the roof, they drilled a new one. Maybe it's just me, but the fewer holes in the roof, the better. After they got to the point where they said they were ready for the inspection, I had to call them back to plug 2 holes that were left in the roof due to the rain coming in. In the new master bath, they were shown where the services were to be placed. One of services to one of the double sinks was put in the wrong spot. Then we had our cold snap. I turned off the water to the house and opened a faucet to release the water pressure. After 2 weeks, I called to find out the status of the inspection, but didn't hear back. I called a couple days later, and they said they would get it done promptly, which they did. They turned the water on, I was lucky, only one pipe had burst. Now 2 weeks later, the services to the one sink has still not been moved. And Still not sure if they're finished with all the other plumbing in the house. Guess I needed to follow up.... again. They may have done good work, but I sure don't feel like I was a valued customer, I feel like I was more of a side job.
Description of Work: I'm doing a major renovation. New master bath with double sink. Moved kitchen water and drain to new location. Increased water supply from 1/2" to 3/4" due to new master bath.

They were very knowledgeable, efficient and professional, quickly resolving the leaking faucet by fixing the broken washers and then replacing the washing machine hoses. We were especially pleased as last year a different plumbing company had estimated that the faucet repair would take major reconstruction and plumbing replacements. We also appreciated that the folks from Button Plumbing removed their shoes before entering the house, we didn't even ask them to, they did it automatically. All in all, an unexpectedly good experience.
Description of Work: The plumber and apprentice from Button Plumbing provided great service. They inspected several plumbing issues, including a leaking tub faucet, existing washing machine hoses, water line pressure and street shut off valve. They gave us an estimate for the work, then fixed the leaking faucet and replaced the washing machine hoses. They also informed us of an issue with the street shut off value so that it could be handled by the water company. Since there was not sufficient time scheduled for the remaining work, we've scheduled a return visit.

I had used Button Plumbing two times before in the last couple of years with adequate results. This time they snaked the clogged sewer drain and said if that didn't work, they would have to come back with a more heavy duty machine. When I called back 5 days later to tell them the drain was clogged again, they said their heavy duty snake was in repair for a week or more and referred me to a plumber in the area that has a bad reputation. The Button technicians are friendly and hard working and do an adequate job on small projects. Prices are reasonable. They are very busy so appointments are difficult to schedule and time lines for arrival are not dependable. Phone response is ok, call backs are hard to get. I ended up checking Angie's list and hiring Fox Plumbing to do the job right for a lot more money.

The office manager Carole Button had promptly return my call. She listened as I tried best to explain issue while offering some feedback on possible root cause. She suggested to call my water district as maybe "Water Hammer" and need to check water pressure to home. I called water district and they will send out a technician. She graciously indicate if water district is not able to help to call them back. A Bravo Zulu for you! Based on recent reviews on Angie's list plus positive listing in Puget Sound Checkbook, I'd consider them for future plumbing projects. Button P&H rates are reasonably priced compared to other local firms plus they're family-owned since 1986. They're doing something right !!!!

Button Plumbing is the best! I spoke with several different plumbing businesses before scheduling the appointment to have Button come and review our toilet flange situation. (We had a leak around the caulk of the existing toilet and after my husband removed the old toilet discovered that the flange was messed up and was below the new tile floor that we had someone install 15 or so years ago.) I spoke with Carol and she was very knowledgeable about the type of problem we had and give me both the worst case scenario and the best case. I was delighted to hear that their plumbers would come and do a free on-site consultation and estimate! None of the other plumbers I called would do an on-site free consult. When the two plumbers came to our house they reviewed the situation and provided us with a quote to extend the flange and to provide us with a new toilet as well - a Drake Toto toilet which is one of the best based upon my previous research online - at a very fair price. They advised to call their office and schedule the work with Carol which we did. The second visit was great! The plumber came and was not only thorough and capable, he explained the work and showed me the differences in how the Drake Toto toilet flushed differently than most toilets - no more swirl! I inquired whether they could take the old toilet away and he said no problem - for less than $10! He even asked me if I wanted the seat off the old toilet - which I did but forgot to take off - and he rinsed it off and placed it outside for me. When he was done he presented the invoice and the labor charge was different than the estimate provided by the two gentlemen at the consultation visit. He explained the charge difference relating to an apprentice assisting him and I paid the invoice. Here's the really cool part. When my husband came home later and I explained the invoice to him, he felt that they should honor the labor estimate provided by the consult visit. I called Carol at the office and explained the charges. Even though the consult was inaccurate based upon their typical charges for providing and installing a toilet, she agreed to honor the quoted labor charge! (I hope she isn't too h****** the consultants because they were really informative and helpful and they actually came by after 6:00 pm and a long day of work!)
Description of Work: In order of service visits 1) free on-site estimate and consultation of toilet flange and leak, free! 2) extended flange on second visit, provided and installed Drake Toto toilet, hauled away old toilet for minimal fee - really, minimal!

I think they’re very reasonably priced for what I’ve seen and heard from other people. Their pricing can’t be beaten. They’re very responsive when it comes to scheduling an appointment. If you call for an emergency, it takes a little while because they don’t have a really big staff. I find that’s it’s best to go ahead and schedule an appointment ahead of time. That way, there will be no problems. The people are just super.

I have used Button plumbing on several occasions over the last six months. I purchased through them, and had them install, two new Toto toilets in the Spring of 2013; I had them re-seat a toilet and hook up sink faucets and a new shower kit after remodel work was done in a bathroom in June, 2013; and most recently had them install a new shower valve in a second bathroom that is being remodeled so that tile work could continue. They are wonderful to work with. Professional, knowledgeable and great problem solvers. I had planned on having tile wainscotting installed in two bathrooms that were being remodeled. The carpenter who was doing the demo work informed me that there was insufficient room behind the toilets to install tile. He suggested I could look into something called an offset phlange, but when I researched it, discovered it doesn't meet code and apparently can result in plumbing problems. I was very disappointed. When the Button Plumbing crew was here I mentioned the issue. After looking at the toilets, they came and told me there is a specific phlange that is made for Toto toilets, then helped me locate it on the Web--at a really great price! The parts arrived and worked perfectly! I was able to proceed with my original design plan and am so pleased with how it came out. As my project proceeded, I needed the shower, faucets and toilet hooked up in one bathroom so that demolition work could be started in the second bathroom--work that hadn't been planned to occur that quickly, but the tile team got a break in their schedule and called to say they were ready to proceed. Button Plumbing came out on a Sunday to make sure the work was done so that the demolition work could occur on schedule. Most recently my tile guys said they needed someone to come out the very next day to install a new shower valve so that the tile work could proceed without delays. My experience has been that with the market uptick in remodel work, plus summer months being the busy season anyway, trying to get someone out the next day was going to be almost impossible. When I contacted Laura at Button Plumbing they were in fact booked up for several weeks. But they made it happen. I can not say enough about the quality of their work, and how great they are to work with! I will definitely be using them for future plumbing jobs.
Description of Work: Installed a new shower valve in bathroom being retiled
