It has been a long time since I've had an interaction with contractor/company/etc that I was this happy about. James was a really nice guy and when he sat down to the look at the problem he realized that it was something as easy as re-screwing the fixture. Turns out there was a hidden screw I didn't see. I feel pretty dumb not finding it myself. I had all the tools there from when I looked at the problem, so he quickly showed me what the problem was and how to fix it. Then he left - without charging me! In this day and age, this isn't very common. You always have to pay just to get the guy to your front door. James drove all the way out here and didn't get a dime (not even gas money), this is a guy who cares about building repeat business. I will call James again if/when I have plumbing issues.
Description of Work: Minor Plumbing Repair – The facet for my bathtub is the kind that you pull out from the wall. When turning on the facet, it came apart from the wall. I took apart the plate and (to the untrained eye) it looked like the copper connection had failed and it simply broke apart. I had James come out to do what was needed (fix or replace) to get it working again.

He came out when I called them and he did charge me for the trip, because he did not do any work. I did not have a replacement faucet so he scheduled a day for him to come back out and install the new faucet. I was pleased that he did not charge me a service fee. Everyone who has come out has been very efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly.

Called them on Wednesday afternoon. They said they could be at my house on Friday between 3 and 5pm. On Friday at 445pm got a call that they were running a little late and would be at my house between 530 and 6pm. They got here at 530. They were fast, nice, and professional. Overall they were great to work with and I would call them again. They charge a minimum one hour (at 100.00) of labor and my bill was for one hour plus about 15.00 in parts. Not sure what most plumbers charge, but it seems reasonable that they would have a one hour minimum on a house call so I'm fine with it. But for future simple plumbing tasks I might try harder to do it myself, or maybe find a place that has a lower minimum, or I might just call Button plumbing again because they were great.
Description of Work: Two plumbing tasks on my house: one was to replace the "1/4 angle stop" beneath my kitchen sink. This is just the spigot where the cold water comes in to the kitchen sink. I had swapped out refrigerators -- the old one had a water/ice line to it and the new fridge did not, so the cold water line from the kitchen sink to the fridge had to be removed. The second task was to fix my leaky garden hose faucet. Both repairs were simple and it took them only 20 minutes.

This is a small family business, with father and son journeyman plumbers and a non-journeyman helper. The written estimates, scheduling and phone calls are handled by the mother and daughter-in-law. They provided a clear, professional written estimate (although it took a week from the initial visit to get it), and responded promptly via email to my questions clarifying their bid. I had two other bids (Plumbing Physician and O'Brien Plumbing) and they were low by a few hundred dollars. They showed up on the day scheduled, and the work took 2 days just like they said it would. They asked me plenty of questions to ensure they installed it like I wanted it. They replaced ceiling panels that they'd removed and cleaned up after themselves. They were personable and polite, and communicated well. I would definitely use them again and recommend them for others.

All our toilets were running slowly when we used large quantities of water in the house (shower, washing machine, etc) and they diagnosed it over the phone as a partially clogged mainline. We called them, they showed up the next evening and he spent about two hours cleaning out the drain. We have not had the problem re-occur.

I called Carole one night about a leak in the bathroom, she mentioned that it would probably cost about $100 plus parts. She mentioned that their rates are $100/HR. She also mentioned that she could have someone out there the next day. The plumber and his assistant came out early and were pleasant. My tenant mentioned that they were there for 1 1/2 hours. I was anticipating a bill for $150 in labor and about $20 for the part. Carole calls me with the bill at a cost of $300 in labor and $20 in parts. I questioned her rates that she quoted me earlier. She failed to mentioned that they also charge an additional $50/HR for an assistant. My tenant mentioned that the plumbers were there for 1 1/2 hours but I was billed for 2 hours. The plumbers did a great job but to avoid price shock I wished I fully knew the rates inlcuding the price of an assistant and if an assistant was going to be present. I also wished that I could have been there to document their time on the premises.
Description of Work: Water was accumulating on the floor. The leak was found within 20 minutes behind the shower wall. The vinyl shower wall was carefully pealed away and glued back after the fix. The plumbing joint had a crack and was replaced.

Estimate from Bob of Button plumbing was lower than three other plumbers (all Angie's A grade). It was a three week wait because they were busy with other customers. I can see why the wait was so long, they are in demand because of quality service at a competitive price. Access to existing water and drain pipes was not difficult. Rather than being charged a fixed rate per fixture, I was charged per hour and for materials. It only took Bob and his employee about 2.5 hours costing about a third of their competitors. The quality, workmanship and speedy work is very good. I am extremely happy with this company. They are friendly and cooperative.

I checked Angie's list after another plumbing company came to do the job and said it would cost me $1500 to install the sink (not including the sink) and called Button Plumbing. Jim showed up as promised and told me it would be a quick job and gave me an estimate for $170 including parts (the extra $15 above is the tax). They scheduled me as soon as they could (3 days later) and I appreciated that as this was not an emergency but wanted this sink so I could get going on painting. They showed up on the day I requested and apologized as they were a little late. It was fine and I appreciated that they were able to do the job as scheduled. They did the install without any problems, no additional time and no damage to my property so I am extremely happy. I will hire them again as I have some plumbing that needs to be replaced and a desire for a natural gas fireplace.

Our gas water heater had appeared to quit while we were on vacation, when a contractor was having an extension installed. Of course, we returned right before the Fourth of July holiday weekend and had no hot water. We were unable to get it going again, so called several plumbers to try to assess the problem and get help. Button Plumbing was particularly helpful and knowledgeable. (In the meantime, we were able to rehook to our old electric tank.) We were able to get a plumber with whom we had worked before to do a service call early on Monday, 7/7. After installing a new thermal coupler, their technician determined that the tank was dead and not worth repairing. We stated getting bids on replacing it and called Button Plumbing again. Our appointment was at 4:00 pm (end of day) on 7/16, and Jim arrived at 4:45 pm. After I described our efforts and talked about replacement options, he asked if he could fiddle with the tank for no charge. And surprise, surprise, within a few minutes the pilot was lit and you could hear the gas kicking in when the thermostat was turned up. He had noticed that a wire in the replacement thermal coupler was kinked, and he heated it and straightened it. He waited to make sure it would hold, and after a little more attention the pilot stayed on. I will be contacting the previous plumber to request that they install an undamaged part. I'm relieved we don't have to purchase a whole new tank and so grateful that Button Plumbing was willing, for free, to spend a few minutes to make sure the tank needed to be replaced. We will be getting a replacement estimate from them as well. We'll need a new tank someday and chances are we will call Button Plumbing for it.

It went well! They did a great job and finished in one day. They even put in a water filter for us that we purchased. They were very friendly and made sure we were satisfied. The only downside is how messy it is after pipes are done (sheetrock dust and bits of debris everywhere, plus holes needing sheetrocked by others) - don't know that this would have been any different with any other company though, so won't downgrade 'em for it!

I had to stop using the shower and tub in my master bath because it was leaking somewhere and leaked so much there was a hole in my downstairs hallway. I had narrowed the problem down to the drain, but figured it was a problem inside the wall. Because of that I went for a long time without fixing it, as I didn't want my wall cut up. I finally got tired of it and wanted to use the bathroom again so I looked for a plumber. I phoned and told Carol the problems. She set up a time. I thought that was only an estimate time, but he came and did all the work. The drain problem just ended up to be a disintegrated seal. Easy! Thank goodness. I also had him work on a few other problems. The toilet in my bathroom had a secret leak somewhere, as I would look down and there would be a puddle of water on the floor. Couldn't figure out where it had came from. Thought it was the seal, but wasn't. It also dripped after flushing for a long time. We could never quite get my toilet to stop dripping, but he told me to not waste any more plumbing money on it as it would be cheaper to buy a new one. He also fixed my drain stopper on another tub. I had to use a manual one as it had stopped working. The next month I had them come out and do another plumbing job as the outgoing drain line to my kitchen sink was clogged. We tried everything we could to do it ourselves, but were still unsuccessful. We also asked for assistance in helping finish putting in our water filter as they never gave us the right equipment to do the job. This job was $190. I was not present for the job. FYI to others: There was a $50 helper fee on my bill as 2 people came, so if you just want to pay for a longer time with 1 person, this might be a subject of discussion with the company. It could turn out to be worth it, or maybe not depending on the project. I suppose some jobs will need 2 people.

Terrible. They never returned our phone calls or attempted to find another solution to our problem. In addition, when they moved our system to the other side of the house, they neglected to insulate the pipes in our crawl space, which of course froze the following winter, causing expensive repairs.
Description of Work: We had recently purchased a tankless water heater, and were having trouble because it took 3 minutes to get hot water in the house. Button "solved" the problem by moving the system to the other side of the house, but unfortunately it did not work.
