I had some issues but they resolved it. It turned out that they had a new employee and I was the first customer that he provided service for and there was a lot of misunderstandings. I sent an email to the company and they were excellent as far as handling it ans I ended up getting a refund of $138 . They made the necessary adjustments. He was charging e for the service call so I told him that I had bought many big deals from Angie's List and I was never once charged for a service call and he called his manager and his manager said I was right so he deleted it. There were some other issues on top of that but they were good in resolving them. So I wrote a list of the events and the issues and they resolved it so that was excellent customer services. I ended up paying $341 because they sold me extra things. Before the service I got a call from the office asking what I wanted specifically to be done and I was very specific: a side faucet had to be fixed and there was some running water in my closet. When he got here, he had a long sheet of what my service call was for but he said "Oh I understand that you wanted a hoe inspection." So I said "Not really but if that's what's included in the deal then why not." The $139 was only for the fixing and I was charged for the fixture. But he did a lot of other things that I didn't ask for.

It was good. They were good guys. They were clean, helpful and stuck with their quote.

The line is now running freely. There are still root balls in the sewer line so, this process may have to be used again. It was suggested to put in a clean out in the line, outside the house. This would make it easier and would not cost so much to have the line cleaned out again.

We had purchased a big deal for the service. He did things for me that I hadn't even thought of, and he voluntarily did things for me and he came on time, he was polite, he didn't rush in and rush out, and I give him high recommendation. I had a problem with my bathtub drain, and he took it apart, and explained to me what he could and he could not do. He also looked at my heater drain and he did what he could. The price of the coupon was acceptable.

We needed a new toilet but were overwhelmed by the choices, differing reviews, etc. Bob led us to Toto and it was the perfect choice; a "watersense" toilet, too, so it will save us money and the planet, water. We bought the Big Deal offer and the installation went smoothly. At the end, the plumber told us there was also a $50 service charge, which I hadn't remembered from the Big Deal offer, so I called Angie's List and spoke to people there who reviewed the offer and saw no mention of a service charge. But, they said, Bob Oates Plumbing was a very responsive firm and I should contact them. So I wrote them an email and told them what had happened. In less than 30 minutes I had an apology and the $50 charge refunded!

They cleaned my pipes, but they didn't solve the initial problem I was having.

It went very well. They arranged a prompt appointment and the plumber was on time, even early in the window they had given me! The plumber Dave was very nice. There was some confusion about the coupon, but he handled the issue well and with a good attitude. The price was reasonable! I was very pleased!

They did a good job with the repairs, and everything went well with the service. I have no complaints.

John was fantastic. He arrived on time for the job, and replaced both my and my neighbor's hot water heaters. We live in a condo building, both units were very old, and our neighbor's would've had to have been moved in order for ours to be replaced. So we had both done at the same time. When I arrived home from work that night, I didn't have any hot water but my neighbor did. I called, and John came back out at 9pm and resolved the problem, so no complaints there! Very responsive. The only downside, the receptionists/answering-service reps are not very well informed or helpful; they are very nice though.

The quality of work was excellent. The price was higher than expected. I was unsure if Angie's list made much difference in price. I would use them again but get an estimate first.

We told the person, before he came, exactly what the problem was in some detail. When he arrived he said there was nothing he could do that we needed to call a plumber and that he had driven out of his territory when he had come to our house. He then got into his truck and drove off..

The first day, they came out right away, were very efficient and had the toilet pulled, cleared the sewer line, and everything back in place in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. 2 days later, Rigo, the worker assigned to the job carefully removed all my rhododendrons and set them aside to replant later. He then started digging a trench 25 feet long, 4 feet deep, in order to reach the old sewer line. Part of the time, he used a small piece of equipment to dig with and was careful not to destroy other plants while bringing it into the area where he was digging. He also protected a concrete bed so that it didn't need to be replaced later. He took out the old clay and cement sewer line and replaced it with a new white pvc line that shouldn't allow roots to get into it. He also made sure it drained correctly and put in gravel bedding around the piping. The following day, the city inspectors came out, it was approved and he started the process of filling the dirt back into the trench. Receiving additional help, they replaced all my rhododendrons and a hydrangea which might possibly survive back into their respective places. They were very careful not to damage my plants and took away any extra plant trimmings off of the hydrangea and cleaned up the area. The entire process was very efficient and the job of replacing the sewer line was completed in 2 days.

Seemed very knowledgeable and capable but we couldn't afford their prices. After having a bad luck with another company I wish we would've gone with them instead!

The service went well. They said the coupon wasn't good for what I wanted them to do, but then they just used the amount of the coupon and credited it towards that. They weren't clear at all on the coupon on what their service was good for, so I ordered the service and they asked what I wanted and then when the guy showed up he was surprised. He didn't have the supplies to do the other stuff, so we ended up doing just a drain clear.

Went very well. Arrived on time, installed water heater and removed old one.

This company is a classic RIP OFF operation. They came to clean the drain line. At least that was my request. After running a cable down the line they announced their job was complete. But the drain line would need a spray wash by another crew for $575.00!!! You need to get this company OFF your list.

The guy came, he did what he said he was going to do and he double billed me.

It went well. The plumber Mark was courteous, efficient, and capable. One replacement required working in very cramped access space, but he managed quite well.

Not so good. Even though I made it clear which parts were needed, he arrived late without any parts and had to go to Home Depot to pick them up. My wife was home when he did the job, but when I got home, I couldn't understand the part cost of $155. So I looked them up on the Home Depot web site. While the parts he used did not look like the most expensive ones, I compared those prices just to be conservative. The very most I could justify for parts cost was $80. Now maybe if he had to buy all new tools and consumables, but...... After he left, we tried the laundry room sink a couple days later only to find the water wasn't working. Hmmmm..... it's right next to the laundry faucets that John worked on, so I gave him a call. No reply. Left a message. No call back. The sill c*** and the laundry faucets do work fine, so I'm giving credit for being that competent, but the overall experience was definitely lacking and we can't in good conscience recommend them, which is a shame because we had several more plumbing projects we were considering hiring for on our own house and for the in-laws house. Can't do it.

The guy was nice. I complained and he looked it up and does it again. They were fast and reliable. They did what I wanted them to do and then he fixed so that was really nice.

It was good and the guy did a good job. It wasn't the price that drove me, but the guts. I was very happy with the job that he got it done. I am sure the other company would have done just as a good job. The other companies I checked with, the prices were ridiculous. He was highly professional and friendly. He was a very nice guy to talk to. The price wasn't the lowest, but still a good price. I showed him other prices and he lowered his prices. It was what drove me over and he explained me what he was doing. He told me that even if I want to sell the house, I need to get it done. The price was competitive.

I was very happy with the service I received. The installer had a good personality and was very friendly. He showed me the useless disposal, which was very interesting to see.

A horrible experience. Had an appointment time between 2:00-4:00PM June 13, 2013. Providers representative didn't show at 4:00PM. Called the provider. A representative told me she had dispatched the person who was to perform the installation and that he was supposed to be at my home. She called the installer. She told me he had some traffic problems and that he was in my neighborhood. I asked the representative why no one had called me to let me know the installer would not be on time. The representative told me that the installer didn't have my phone number. I asked why the installer didn't have my phone number. The representative told me that the company doesn't provide phone numbers to installers. I asked why someone else didn't call me. The representative told me she didn't know the installer had not arrived at my home by 4:00PM. At 4:30PM the installer had not arrived at my home. I again called the provider. Was told that the installer was two miles away. The installer arrived at 4:35PM. He apologized for being late and explained traffic was the problem. I showed the installer where the circuit breaker was for the water heater was. He said OK. The installer asked me to open the hot water tap in a bathroom in the vicinity of the location of the water heater to help drain the water heater to be removed. I did this. I the left the installer to do his work. At approximately 6:30PM the installer contacted me and told me he was finished. We completed the invoice in a room adjacent to the area where the water heater was installed. The installer told me there would be hot water in approximately one and half hours. I thanked the installer and he left. After he left I went to the area where the water heater was installed. The floor there was dirty. It didn't appear to me that the installer had attempted to clean the dirty area. I cleaned the dirty floor. At approximately 9:00PM I turned on a bathroom tap to insure that water coming out would get hot. Nothing came out but cold water. I thought this odd since by this time water coming out of the tap should have been hot according to the installer. On the extreme remote possibility that the installer didn't reset the circuit breaker to the water heater, I checked the circuit breaker for the water heater. The circuit breaker was off. The circuit breaker for the furnace right above the circuit breaker for the water heater was also off. I didn't turn either circuit breaker off. I reset both circuit breakers. Within approximately 30 minutes I turned on a tap and warm water came out. Within an hour I had hot water. I called the provider on June 14, 2013 to complain about what I perceived were problems associated with the water heater installation. I asked to talk to the owner of the company. I was informed he wasn't available and would not be available for approximately 10 days. The representative I talked to asked if I wanted to speak to a manager. I did. I talked with a person named Doug who told me he was a manger. I explained all the problems I had associated with the installation. He apologized for me not being notified that the installer would be late, the installer not cleaning up after completing the work and for the circuit breaker not being reset. I told the manager that on the invoice the installer had written "tested/set temp will take 1 1/2 hr to fully heat." I told the manager I could understand being late because of traffic but that a phone call letting me know this would have been appropriate. He agreed. He asked if I wanted someone to clean the floor. I told him that I had taken care of that. I also told him that I didn't understand how the installer could have conducted a check if the circuit elected the water heater breaker to the water heater was off. The manger asked what could be done to have me as a customer in the future. I told him there was nothing that could be done and assured him I would never have any business with his company in the future. One of the reasons I selected the ad for the installation was the comments and ratings from reviewers. Unfortunately my experience with the provider was an extremely bad one.

Great experience with Bob Oates'. The service appointment scheduling was easy and the person on the phone was very efficient and courteous. Mark the plumber showed up on time, was very professional and did a great job with installing the garbage disposal unit making sure that everything was connected and working properly. We have hardwood floors and he was very careful to protect the working area and wore protective booties each time he was in the house. He also thoroughly cleaned up the working space when done. Will use their service again!
