The service and workman ship was very good. No problems and they actually upgraded the piece to a better model for free.

A water hose broke under my son's family's kitchen sink. They called a couple plumbers who were unable to help them on their small repair for a few days. Bob Oates Plumbing worked them in same day. Their plumber was extremely courteous, confirmed the problem, and identified and replaced the part promptly. The service and price were both outstanding, and my son learned quite a bit about the basics of his own sink plumbing in the process. Bob Oates Plumbing will be first call next time.

James gave a lot of information. It was always interesting listening to him. They promptly installed a new system in the back of our property. Their bid to dig up the street and do needed repairs at the other end of the line ended up being very substantially more than two other bids -- the bid we went with was half what Bob Oates was going to charge. I repeatedly asked for "before" and "after" scope videos as promised. Finally they sent someone out to do an "after" video. If you have a major sewer problem, call Bob Oates as they seem to be very knowledgeable. Just be sure to insist on the video, and get other bids.

Showed up early and got right to work. Operated the clean out tool first and then ran the video camera even though the blockage couldn't be cleared. Determined that I have a broken drain pipe and very quickly got me a repair bid. Very pleasant and professional, would do business with again.

Tech arrived on time. was friendly and helpful. Fully explained the process. Wrote up a detailed report.

They were right on time and even prioritized coming an hour earlier than they typically do to accommodate my work schedule. No service was needed thankfully but now I have peace of mind! Also gave estimate for new tankless water heater which I have scheduled in two weeks. The technician was friendly and knowledgeable and followed up with me within the hour to schedule the service. Looking forward to having my new water heater installed! Many thanks for your service thus far!

John and Jeremy swiftly and efficiently removed my old hot water heater and installed the new one. The vent connection to the old water heater had been installed wrong, but they knew just what to do, so it is now correctly hooked up. Great job all around.

The technician explained everything in detail. In addition to completing the work we requested, he also inspected our other toilets and offered suggestions about future replacements. He also called our attention to the special offer through Angie's List, which we weren't aware of when we originally scheduled the service. He was pleasant and respectful, took off his shoes every time he entered the house, and cleaned up after himself.

We had water leaking thru an outside wall into the basement. We thought it was due to the sewer line. The service guy from Bob Oates came 30 min past the 2 - 4 pm time frame but he did a thorough job. He snaked the camera all the way to the main drain line and found no blockage. He even went down the rain gutter drain and found no leaks. We now think the problem is from the rain coming down the gutter due to a blockage and placing too much water around the basement concrete wall. We were happy with his work.

Scheduled a service through this provider. Was told several weeks later that they don't service my area but would get back to me to see if they could make an exception. I had to contact them several weeks weeks later as they made no attempt to reach out to me. I was given a refund. The provider should have notified me immediately that they did not service my area.

The two guys from Bob Oates were right on time, understood immediately what I needed done, and zipped under the house to confirm where the sewage line left our house. I was using an Angie's list coupon to pay for the service and they were able to wrap up everything up in the hour that the coupon covered- no slow walking. Next time I'll need a plumber BobO will be getting my first call.

Bob Oates took the time to respond to my Angie's list review, but I am surprised that there was not ever a simple, personal phone call to try to answer my questions/concerns... oh well. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience! I chose Bob Oates Plumbing on basis of great reviews plus a coupon on Angie's list for a good price on water heater. I arranged everything online. The customer service in terms of scheduling the timing was fine on the front end. The problem was that mine was gas vs. electric and the price was DOUBLE. Because I had flown into town to help my kids take care of this on a business day, I felt I had no choice in researching options or pricing. The guys were there, they had the gas version available, I needed the job done that day, so I was stuck. The job itself seemed to go smoothly, but I could not feel good about it. Of course, this is a case of READ THE FINE PRINT - I should have been more vigilant about the specifications before arranging this appointment in the first place. My real issues are that there was NO itemization of the cost of the items and there was NO response to my call and my request to speak to the supervisor about this. At the very least, I feel Bob Oates Plumbing should have honored the $100 discount to reflect the value of the Angie's list coupon. Bob Oates took the time to respond to my Angie's list review, but ,I am surprised that there was not a simplepersonal phone call to try to answer my questions/concerns... oh well.

I called and scheduled an appointment for a plumber to come provide an estimate to relocate a water line as part of a kitchen remodel. We set a time and date for the appointment and I was very happy with how responsive they were. The day of the appointment came and they did not call or show for the appointment. When I called to follow up I was told there was no record of the appointment in their schedule. While they were apologetic and offered to reschedule, I declined and will not be using their services in the future.

The pipe between our home and our septic tank broke. Immediately we were without water, flush toilets, any cooking, etc. I am in poor health and it was necessary for me to have this fixed immediately. Bob Oates gave us a bid of $2800 if we dug up the old pipe. They scheduled their work to replace the pipe and finish the job the day after we dug up the old pipe and promised they would be here promptly the day they had scheduled. That day came, their arrival time of 10 a.m. came and went and they didn't appear. Finally, at nearly eleven my husband called and was told they had an emergency the night before and wouldn't be able to come until the next day. This was clearly not what they had promised and left us in an emergency situation ourselves. The fact that they did not notify us that there would be a delay is probably the most unprofessional reaction from a business that we have ever experienced. They would not even return our calls when we tried to ascertain whether they had been able to find a solution. I was extremely disappointed that someone recommended by Angie's List would be responsible for such service. Our great-grandson and my husband, who is 82, ended up doing it themselves. I did the Angie's List deal for the video inspection and knew I was going to need additional cleaning. The scheduling was easy and they came right on time. They did the video inspection and recommended water clean out and were able to get equipment and do that immediately. Staff for cleaning was very friendly and responsive. Unfortunately, after the line cleaning they looked again and another team member came and recommended a serious repair that was now visible for ~4k-10K depending on various project options. I had some email difficulties actually getting a detailed description of the cost break down of newly suggested work (eg. permit cost, excavation, sidewalk repairs, etc.). During that lag time I was able to have two other companies come by for similar project estimates. Both other vendors disagreed with the need for major work based on their own video inspections and one had a lower cost for another drainage issues I had. Overall I thought the basic cleaning and video offer were a good deal and I would recommend that service. However, I wasn't in agreement on the suggested need for major repairs to the line and went with another vendor's advice for that aspect.

Jeremy arrived right at 3pm (3-5 window was given) and was very informative while conducting the camera inspection of the sewer. This was for a house I was buying and I wasn't sure if it had a clean out for him to access. Unfortunately, it didn't so instead of it being $99 it turned out to be $250 but I guess that was still reasonable. Jeremy let us watch as he went through the sewer w/ camera and explained what he was seeing. Was very helpful and said they are even going to send me a recording of it. Overall, a great experience and will use Bob Oates in the future.

Called to inquire about an estimate for an acrylic tub installation. The company info indicates that they offer free estimates. However, I was told that there is $70 service fee for a tech to come out and provide the estimate. They did answer the phone promptly, which is not the case with other plumbers I've contacted.

I help out at my Mom's house several times a week and the downstairs bathroom had a smell coming from the drain in the shower. There are two bathrooms upstairs and this one never gets used anymore since I moved out. I noticed it was worse than I remembered. I said we needed to call someone and she had a flyer from Bob Oates. I called and the woman I talked to on the phone was really nice and said they could come out basically any time. I choose Noon - 2p the next day. My Mom requested I come down to meet the technician. The representative was responsive to my situation of contacting me at my home and the fact I was going to another house where the service was going to be performed. I received a call at my house noting the tech was on his way prior to noon. I met Conrad and he quickly identified our plumbing structure and got to work quickly. He snaked the sewer identified the problem and showed me exactly what he was seeing through his camera explaining everything in the process. Problem solved. I told him the toilet in the same bathroom was leaking and maybe needed replacing. He once again quickly identified the problem and took the bowl apart and placed new bolts and gaskets in it. He showed me the worn crumbling gaskets and that was fixed. He then politely asked if there were any other issues in the house which needed attention. I wasn't aware of any. I asked my Mom and she said one of the toilets upstairs could use some attention. Once again, quickly Conrad said it would be best to repair the toilet, remove it and reset it to the structure. He did this quickly, screwed back to the structure and caulked the base. He swept the area he was working in and everything looks and works like new. My Mom was appreciative of getting rid of the smell and knowing exactly what the issues were causing it in the first place. The flyer allowed us to have ~100 off the camera inspection and my Mother thought it was going to be much more expensive for the time/attention/work performed by this skilled technician. When the time arises at my home for plumbing services I will be calling Bob Oates and possibly requesting Conrad if available. Also a referral to Friends. Believe me I never thought I would be writing a review about a plumbing situation in my life, but when my Mom is happy (and I don't have to hear about "that smell") everyone wins.

They were helpful and nice. I liked them a lot. He said he had asthma so he wouldn't go to the water drain pipe. He went and scoped the sewer line but the water drain problem was in the drian pipe. He didn't inspect it, he only looked at it from outside the house with a flashlight but wouldn't go all the way to it because he said it smelled bad and he had asthma. He said maybe it was a foundation problem but I just had Matvey Construction out and they said there were no foundation issues and that it was the drain pipe. He didn't solve my problem at all. He tried to inspect it but he didn't.

The septic tank all of a sudden failed and I was told that I needed to connect to the sewer. I called Above Grade Septic to get the quote, but they never contacted us back with the quote. After a few days of waiting, I had decided to pursue other contractors. Bob Oates Plumbing was the first one who contacted me back immediately - on the same day. Aaron, who is the PM, came out the next day to survey the site and explained to me what would take him to get me the quote. In couple of days (a bit earlier than what he anticipated) he came up with the quote and asked me if I want to go ahead. It was a bit more expensive than what I hoped it would cost, but given that my whole family was living with a portable toilet for 2 weeks and my family just went through the house restoration from the water damage for 4 months, and the reviews from Angie's List are top-notch, I decided to go ahead. The crew came out very early in the morning. The first thing they did was to walk me through the schedule. They were very professional and explained to me in detail that left me no question to ask. The basic work was done in 1.5 days - we were able to use the water! For the rest of the week, they went through the inspection with the city and finished the work. One thing I think they really stand out compared to other contracts I dealt with is that they communicate to their customers on the status. If there is a slight change to the schedule, they always call me in advance and let me know. I really loved that, especially after dealing with numerous contractors not only keeping the schedule but not tell me anything. Even though I think it was a bit expensive, I think it is well worth it and I am going to contact Bob Oates Plumbing if/when I have any need for the plumbing work in the future.

Very professional in demeanor, but I got rescheduled a couple times and I had the impression that the gentleman who did the walk thru and quote to me was sort of a yes man. I don't know what it was, but he didn't sit with me well. I couldn't really trust him. He gave me a quote that was half the cost of one I had estimated previously so it worried me that perhaps larger costs would show up later. He did, however, point out that there was no p-trap in the installed shower and nobody had caught that before. Not even our home inspector when we bought the house! I have contacted Bob Oates 3 times regarding getting the video of the scope they did when they roto rooter'd, but I have yet to get it. Bummer because their reception has always been nothing but pleasant to talk to. Still, the experiences leave me wary of trusting them for further services. I just don't want to get tied up rescheduling and playing phone tag all the time.
