Description of Work: Fix a leak in a pipe in the ceiling you say? Simple plumbing issue. Pay over $1500.00. My mistake calling Beacons. Whatever you do, do not hire them. Late, lousy communication, messy, and horrible customer service. But the worst is their creative pricing, and how much they stand behind their overcharges. Use Best Plumbing. They repaired the same type of problem for a little over $600.00 including an after hours fee. Wallingford Plumbing did s similar job for about $300.00. Beacons, over $1500.00. Whatever you do, don't use Beacons Plumbing.

I called Beacon to come out an replace a leaky elbow in a PVC water pipe (3/4" tubing). They cut out the $0.50 elbow, glued in a new one in less than 20 minutes...then handed me a bill for $404 !!! Claimed that it was a "fixed rate" of $294 to do anything, regardless of time. Tack on $75 for the service charge, add tax, and you're at $400. I've never felt so ripped off ! $75 for the service call, and $125/1hr minimum would have been more than fair

We had used Beacon a few years ago and were very happy with their very professional service and reasonable pricing, a little high but the service and work were good. So recently I had no reason to think things would be different. I called to get our bathroom faucet replaced and told the phone rep that up front. She was a little gruff and said there would be a $75 assessment charge. I had to repeat twice what we wanted done before she got it. Plumber came out and showed me a price list showing approximately $354. When I recovered from the shock, I asked if the $75 was to be applied toward that. He said no but would "waive" it. So I wonder how many customers don't question this and get ripped off ? The price seemed extremely high to simply take out one faucet and install another. We already had the faucet, so this price was for installation only. This was with the "repeat customer" discount; the "regular" price would have been over $400! Service was scheduled for between 10am and noon. At 8:53 I got a call from the plumber confirming our address and stating he was on his way. I said we were scheduled for ten, but it was ok to be early. So I rushed through a couple of things to be ready earlier and he didn't show until 10:15. He was a non-caucasian and spoke with an accent, so maybe there was a language problem? Not good for someone who deals with the public! The faucet was installed correctly and is working well so far. The plumber was pleasant and ensured that I was happy before taking payment, so I can't fault him for anything. But the price!!! My husband was mad and feels like we were ripped off. Next time we'll seek multiple estimates and do more research before hiring a plumber, which probably won't be Beacon!

We made a huge mistake hiring Beacon to do this work. The quality of the work was not good, and we've since learned that we significantly over-payed. We're remodeling two bathrooms, and we hired Beacon when our previous plumber had no schedule availability in the timeframe we needed. The first clue that Beacon isn't oriented to projects like that was that, although we'd carefully scheduled Beacon for a date that fell after demo and before tile installation. Even so, we got two or three phone calls asking if we didn't want them to come out earlier. After we complained about the repeated scheduling calls and were told we wouldn't be bothered with one again, we got yet another scheduling call. One the appointed day arrived, Beacon sent two guys out and the job took the two of them a full day. They didn't have a part they needed and tasked me with finding it. (Silly me -- I assumed they'd have some common parts or be able to get them easily, since they knew what the job was). The first clue I had that there might be a problem was when the first plumbing supply place I called asked who was doing the work for us. When I told him it was Beacon, he said if he were me he'd run -- even if it meant pushing the tiler back a month. Once I had the necessary part, the same two guys came back and completed the rough-in. They also did a temporary fixture installation in one of the two bathrooms so we'd have a functional shower in the house. Two days later, we had water trickling out of a smoke alarm on the ceiling of the room below the bathroom. At that point, we decided not to have Beacon back, and we called a plumber a friend recommended. He discovered that Beacon had neglected to use a sealant or plumbers tape when they did the temporary set-up, which caused the leak. Two days later, we discovered the leak had caused the bathroom sub-flooring to swell at a seam, so now we're faced with replacing both flooring and sub-flooring. which we hadn't planned to do. The tiler was surprised that Beacon hadn't discussed with us the need to build up the drain for the shower pan the tiler was installing, which he said an experienced plumber should have done. Since then, we've been working with the plumber who corrected the cause of the leak. He has been fantastic to work with, and all of the work is done quickly and well. We are shocked at how much more reasonable his charges are, and he was shocked when we told him what Beacon had charged us for the work they did. Their charges included a trip charge for each time they came to our home, which seems ridiculous for a project like this.
Description of Work: Roughed in three shower heads and one tub faucet (plus temperature controls), installed two faucets.

Have had nothing but good experiences with Beacon, the most recent being a tricky leak in an old cast-iron drain line in a very tight area...Marcus M. and Cody H. showed up right on time to assess the problem and provided a fair bid right on the spot, then once we accepted they came back promptly (again as scheduled) the next day and worked all-day to complete the job...unfortunately Marcus got a hunk of cast iron in his eye while grinding (requiring surgery!) but he and Cody came right back the following Monday to water-test the job and all was well! Marcus is a very knowledgeable and experienced journeyman who looks you in the eye, gives you a firm handshake, and gets the job done! Very personable, professional, and fairly priced, I give Beacon/Marcus/Cody my highest recommendation without reservation!

Second plumber advised that secondary leak should have been found on the first visit but since he came he had to charge me $150. My complaint to company had them offer a discount on a future service but would not refund cash. A discount from a company that doesn't stand behind their work does not have value. Recommend you shop elsewhere.
Description of Work: repaired a link that should have been found on their original visit 4 days earlier for a $466 dollar repair that another plumber advised should not have been more than $175.

I called to ask for a bid to be done for repiping. The first red flag was that when the person answered the phone, her exact words were "Hold on a minute." She then had some sort of conversation on another phone line without putting me on hold, which sounded personal and rather contentious. After about a minute, she hung up and came back to my line, answering with the standard "Beacon Plumbing ....." Once I explained that I was interested in getting a bid for a repipe in my bathroom, she explained that they charge $70 just to come out and do the bid. That was the end of my wanting to do business with them. There are plenty of other plumbers out there that will be easier to deal with.
