*** BEWARE, GROSSLY OVERCHARGES••• I have a condo in Seattle that my daughter lives in. We had a need to have a toilet reinstalled along with a washer & Dryer that needed to be hooked back up. I live in California and she was unable to do this work herself. I told her to call a plumber and I’d take care of the charges. My daughter had my permission to use my card to pay for the service. She was in a nearby town doing an opening of a new restaurant and was unable to be there and called Beacon to do the work. The tech sent over a docusign which she filled out and provided payment. Afterwards, my daughter sent me a copy of their invoice. It mention the need for some newer parts (hammer arrestors, braided hoses, wax ring and bolts for the toilet. Cost of parts when I priced them out through Lowe’s was roughly $120. They charged my card (my daughter approved it because she didn’t know any better). $2772 for the work. That equates to roughly $2300 in labor for something that should have been fixed in an hour. A very expensive lesson learned for my daughter and myself. This company should be ashamed of themselves. Obviously, had I seen the quote, I would have refused the job.

The pilot light on our hot water heater wouldn't stay lit, so we called Beacon to look at it. Upon seeing that our hot water heater was 10 years old, the technician insisted that we needed a replacement and refused to do any further inspection. He just kept giving us the hard sell, saying we needed to replace it and that it would be $3000. After I made it very clear that I was uninterested in a replacement and just wanted them to look at the thermocouple, he quoted me $900 to replace the thermocouple. I paid the $75 service fee and sent them on their way. Later, we discovered that the earthquake shutoff valve on our gas meter had been tripped when something bumped into it. We reset the valve, and our water heater has continued to work without any problems during the intervening 3 years.

Beacon gave me a quote of $12,000 dollars which I initially agreed to in a panic. Later that same day (they had to schedule the work for a week later) I cancelled the job. THEY NEVER CAME OUT TO DO THE WORK AND YET THEY STILL CHARGED ME. Listen to everyone who writes a bad review about Beacon -- they are all true. Beacon is a rip off company that tires flashy ads to sell their dishonest work.

They turned a replacement of four feet of septic line into a week and a half long project and overcharged. Final price was over 19,000 dollars. Spoke with several other companies that couldn't come out right away, but would have been less than 2,000. I will never use Beacon again.

I had a leak in the shower valve in the wall behind the shower. Beacon plumbing first correctly diagnosed the problem and replaced the valve. However the new valve was still leaking. So after 2 more appointments they replaced the new still leaking valve. This time the valve was fine but the newly installed escutcheon plate leaked both around it and through screws into the wall. Beacon plumbing needed 2 more appointments to try to fix it. In the end I was told that leaking escutcheon plate is normal, bathtub fixtures are by design not water proof, they cannot do anything more and that it is normal that water leaks into the wall while showering. This is completely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. They were very expensive but responded on Saturday to the first leak promptly. However, overall they needed 5 appointments out of which 1 was no-show without letting me know they wouldn't be coming. They fixed one leak but caused a different leak which they refused to fix.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Their work is sloppy at best, incompetent at worst, and they charge two to four times (!!) what other local plumbers charge. Here is our story: After a nasty sewage flood in our basement, Beacon Plumbing diagnosed tree roots in our sewer line and hydro-jetted them out (or so they claimed...). The two Beacon Plumbing plumbers PROMISED me that even though their sewer scope (the camera that films the inside of the sewer to prove that the job was done) was "too short to reach all the way out to the main city sewer line," there were "absolutely no root balls left" in our sewer line. They also gave us a quote for installing a sewer lining as a permanent fix, but since the price was very high we decided to get a couple of other estimates. Two different sewer companies came out within a few days and scoped our sewer line all the way out to the main city line (neither one had any problem with their "scope being too short"...) and both companies found root balls still in the line that were already starting to cause sewage back-up. Since we didn't want another sewage flood, we ended up having one of the other companies re-hydro-jet the line. Prices: For their incompetent and incomplete hydro-jetting job, Beacon Plumbing charged us $2,500 dollars. The sewer specialists, who used a high-powered hydro-jet machine, plus a sander that truly removed all roots throughout the line, plus a chemical treatment to slow root re-growth (none of which BP did), they charged $950. The estimates for lining the sewer: $850 from one sewer specialist. $1,200 from the second sewer specialist. $35,000 from Beacon Plumbing!!! We requested a refund for BP's poor hydro-jetting work, and sent them a scope video taken by one of the other companies as proof that the job we paid for had not been done, but BP refused.

This company is a total scam! Do not use them! Our furnace went out today, but we have a new heat pump being installed next Tuesday. My husband called Beacon to come see if the pilot light had gone out. The dispatcher said that it would be $75 to come look at it. When the two servicemen arrived tonight, they wouldn’t look at it unless I agreed to pay them $395 minimum to diagnose the problem! Then, it would be an additional charge to fix whatever problem they came up with! I ended up paying the guy $81.68 to come out and stand in my garage for 10 minutes. It was a waste of his and my time, and now I’m out $81 and I still have a cold house.

This company is a joke. My water main ruptured on a Friday morning in September 2022. I called a dozen plumbers and they were the only ones who could come that weekend. They completed the fix, but informed me it was temporary due to blue poly piping. They charged me $2,100 for the TEMPORARY fix!!! I knew I was being completely ripped off because I work for a large property management company and had asked my maintenance person what he thought I should pay. My maintenance person said it shouldn’t be more than $1,000 on the high end, but Beacon just took complete advantage of my emergency situation! The kicker was when I asked what the permanent fix would cost… they told me it would be $18,000 to install a new water main from the meter to my house. From the meter to the spot where the line connects to my house is like 15 ft!! They wanted to charge $18,000 for 15 ft of plastic poly piping, over $1,000 per foot. Anyhow, I’m having the new line installed today, they’re drilling under my front yard so nothing has to be trenched, and the total cost is $5,000. Beacon Plumbing wanted to overcharge me by $13,000! On top of it all, they ripped my rose bush up by the roots when they did their temporary fix and trampled a couple other plants in the area. When they were done they didn’t even fill the hole back in that they dug for the temporary fix… they are terrible.

Electrician immediately asked how old my panel was. I agreed to a $386 diagnostic, and he said my electric panel needed replacement for an estimated cost of $7k. I just had PSE come out -- the problem is theirs, they will be back out in an hour to temporarily get it fixed, and then a crew will come out for a permanent fix. Cost to me: nothing. I don't know if it is the entire company or just this one person, but I feel scammed out of the $386 diagnostic and the $75 service fee (because why pay for someone to come out if they mis-diagnose). If I had taken their word, I'd be out $7,500, and according to PSE, the problem would still be there.

We have never been treated so poorly by any company before. Our pipe bursted in July of 2021 and they still haven’t completed their job. They charged us $25k because it was an emergency and took their sweet time to fix the pipe. Not only did they miss 2 of their appointments without any notice, they also made a mistake packing the giant hole they dug up in our front yard. 4 months after the job was done the area they dug up sunk about half a foot. I wrote them 2 emails about a week apart and got ignored. I called and spoke to the most condescending and demeaning manager ever. Mark said, “honey I have about 25 other emails I’m working on.” After about 10 minutes of explaining the situation to him he finally scheduled us a date for someone to come fix the area. We took the day off work and no one showed up again. Finally someone came out on a different day but unfortunately 2 months after that it sunk 4 inches. I emailed them again and they said to wait until the rainy season is over. It is July and they have been ignoring all my emails since May. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with this company.

In the spirit of transparency, I did not hire this company and no goods or services were provided to me. I am writing as I had an experience with Beacon Plumbing that is indicative of their professionalism, safety, and integrity that I hope will be helpful to others. In researching other platforms for reviews, it seems I am not alone and I want to provide additional support and voice to others who have been negatively impacted by the negligence of this company. I reached out to Beacon Plumbing in attempt to arrange reimbursement for damages to my car caused by one of their employees. I was connected with Mark Jensen who is an employee of the company. I am unclear of his role however he indicated that he is the only individual that is in a position to assist with concerns. He strung me along for seven months -- asking for additional documentation, promising he had a solution, telling me there was a delay until finally just indicating that Beacon Plumbing would not be accountable for the damage to my vehicle. When I expressed concern he laughed and told me that many others have attempted legal action and like them, I would be unsuccessful. This company lacks integrity.

I am sorry to give this rating. I never seen such a rude and unprofessional service. After they installed my Tankless Water Heater with very expensive cost, I asked them to do the 1st flush of the heater for free. They agreed after a long negotiation. When I asked the to do it, they told me it passed the one-year warranty and will not do it for free! I didn't negotiate for the warranty! When I tried to explain to Mark, he stated to accuse me as rude!!! And put me on hold while I was trying to explain to him. I couldn't continue the talk with them. Please, be aware to put everything in writing and don't trust their words if you are going to use their expensive service. This is my mistake to trust them!

The serviceman came out and simply said the septic tank should be pumped. He had no criteria for this advice. The tank had been recently pumped when the home was purchased 9 months ago. Luckily another company said it must be a clog in the line. The tank indeed did not need to be pumped, which would have cost approximately $800. The blockage was in the line from the house that had caused the backup. It was cleared quickly and efficiently by another company. So glad hundreds of dollars weren’t thrown down the drain by following the bad advice from Beacon Plumbing.

On Saturday evening we noticed the supporting chain holding up a large light fixture above the stairs, had broken and the light was now hanging by only the electrical cord. After climbing a ladder we decided we couldn’t safely fix it ourselves so we thought we better call someone. Beacon said they could come out the next day between 10-1, the guy arrived at 1.15, no big deal. The guy told us it would cost $1400. (!!!) apparently it would have have been $500 cheaper but he needed a scaffold. As I was in a total panic it could fall at any time and either kill someone or cause loads of damage, we agreed. So he went off to get the scaffold, which cost $40 for the day from Home Depot btw. The guy that came out was nice enough, and got the job done. But I will never use them or recommend them to anyone due to the grossly inflated charges.

They finished the work quickly, but provided little to no information about why the cost was so much.
Description of Work: While I was at work today my hot water heater broke so my wife called up Beacon. To start they charge a hefty fee to even come out (as do others), making getting multiple bids a gamble as whoever you don’t pick keeps the money. That alone is frustrating. Beacon showed up and said they had to replace the whole heater and it would be $2,200. That’s it, no breakdown of cost, nothing. My wife rolled with it assuming that was normal, but after some research found it was about $1,000 too much. It was too late at this point as the work was started. Mostly I wanted to communicate to the community that when dealing with Plumbing it is probably best to take your time and call as many places as possible and ask their estimated costs for varying projects. They may say it is hard to say without seeing the project and often won’t provide it, this should be a red flag. If I were to do this again I wouldn’t let anybody come out without knowing their rate cards. Lesson learned.

Beacon made a total mess of my house. Drilled large holes through supporting beams compromising the structure. Wired the dryer circuit wrong creating a shock hazard. Used Mission couplers everywhere which are known to leak and which are a poor plumbing practice. Forget about the advertising this is not quality work. The only positive is they finished fast. Maybe not a good thing considering the quality of the work. On top of that they estimated $3000 but charged $4500. They claimed there was additional work but I was present during the job and the additional work took 2 hours. That additional work was charged at $750 /hour. I wish I had such a nice job. My view is that you should expect to pay a lot more than the estimate with this company.

Called Beacon Plumbing for a leak in at the pipe supplying water to the water heater. They charged $75 just to show up and were almost on time. They then charged an additional $795 to go into the crawl space to verify the leaking pipe. To replace a 3 foot piece of pex pipe they quoted another $1,200+. (This piece of pipe had shark bite connectors so there was no soldering involved) I declined to have them make the repairs because of the ridiculous price. Instead I got another plumber to replace the pipe for $150.

For the quality of the service, I'd give them an A but the overall would probably be a B. We had a messed thermostat and they didn't take into account that it needed an extra wire running to the heater so I ended up having to do that manually myself afterwards which probably would have saved us a thousand dollars. Price was fine. They blew the door fuse and they didn't replace it. They were very responsive. I'd like to make sure that they finish the job entirely the next time.

The guy said we needed more Antifreeze and charged a fortune to add it. The next day the heat pump stopped working all together. Beacon said they were booked out but it should be fine because they did it correctly. We hired another company for a second opinion. The new company told us that Beacon added way too much Antifreeze and the problem to begin with was we had too much! In the end Beacon didn't refund us a penny and we were charged extra for the removal of the extra Antifreeze Beacon added since it is toxic hazardous material. I'll never use them again.

Long story, circuit board needed replacing but they pulled a fuse and told me the blower was also bad and tried to tell me I needed a new heater. Quote was a couple thousand dollars. I noted the fuse had been removed. Paid for them to come out and sent them away. Next company replace circuit board, put fuse back in and $150.00 later it works great.
