Description of Work: The first purchase we bought an asko dishwasher. Everything was great except they did not tell us we would be paying extra for installation....it was fine they should of just mentioned it. I ran out of checks and had to pay with a card that was billed to the store. I would of given them a B or A - rating. (I love the dishwasher). We went back a month later for a hood vent and that was a nightmare. It was promised on Tuesday we called on Thursday and they said it was out of stock would take 2 weeks. We waited three weeks called again and they said we would have to wait for them to receive an email from their supplier. After a few more days we did not get a call back my husband went to the store and basically they shrugged their shoulders and acted like they could care less. My husband cancelled the purchase. We had a contractor waiting the whole time to install the hood and it threw some other remodeling that we are doing really off schedule. If at any point they took responsibility, followed up when they said they would or even pretended they give a hoot we would of worked with them.

 + -1 moreWe had checked around on line and through several "box" stores but came back to Almvig's. The salesman was very helpful and was able to beat the price of any of the other stores. They did this without the hassle of a rebate or charging us for the pick up of old appliances or installation of the new ones. I was a little concerned when we found out by calling them the morning before we were to have the appliances delivered, that our refrigerator won't be available until the next day. It would have been nice if they had called us earlier. However, we negotiated a new day that worked for us. That day the people who do the delivery for Almvig's had an employee call in sick. But this time they called us and kept us informed. They hired temporary help and had our appliances delivered on the day they said they would. Installation went very smoothly. All in all my experience with this store was very positive.
Description of Work: We bought a new refrigerator and stove. Almvig's removed our old appliances and installed the new ones.

 + -1 moreThey not only accommodated me but sold me a floor model at below cost so that I could take it same day. When I found out it was missing a few parts here and there (typical of a floor model), they could easily have said that it was "as-is" but instead they bent over backwards to get them for me next day. Absolutely wonderful experience.
Description of Work: I absolutely, positively needed a dishwasher same day. Mine died and I have three kids under 2 at home.

 + -1 moreWe primarily dealt with Debbie. She was very helpful and pleasant. In general, Almvig's seems to be tuned in to the types of homes in the city, which, in general, are a lot smaller than the McMansions in the 'burbs. They carry all the big flashy stuff but are responsive to their neighborhood customer base. Based on other Angie's List reviews, we were cautious about the installer. We were promised someone who has done contract work for Almvig's for 15 years. Roy Norman did a competent and timely job although it seemed like his job would have gone more quickly with an assistant to help move the old appliances out and the new ones in.
Description of Work: We purchased a wall oven and a dishwasher.

 + -1 moreThe saleswoman was very friendly and helpful, answering all of my questions. She was respectful of the fact that I had done research already, and worked with me to find a pair of units that met my needs and budget. I was also given the opportunity to purchase a floor model, with a new warranty. Delivery was prompt and friendly, though the team seemed unprepared for stairs and caused minor damage while installing. Also, because one installer had an injured shoulder, I was asked to help lift the washer and dryer up the stairs.
Description of Work: I purchased a new, high-efficiency front-load washer, and matching dryer. I had the units delivered and installed for free.

 + 0 moreOur buying process was very pleasant. Our salesman was very nice and helpful. It was all downhill from there. The subcontractors were terrible. The counters took 4 weeks longer than estimated to be completed and installed correctly. The dishwasher was installed incorrectly and had to be fixed. Neither the salesman nor the manager ever returned any phone calls. I had to go to the store to contact them. I would not hire them again.
Description of Work: We purchased a new dishwasher and countertops for our kitchen from Almvig's. They arranged a handyman to remove our old dishwasher and countertops as well as coordinated for the new countertops/sink and dishwasher to be installed.

 + -1 moreThe sales staff was very friendly, although a bit too eager to get rid of a floor model dishwasher, which I did buy because I got a good price. Every time I looked at a different model, he'd steer me back to the floor model. Overall, I'd certainly go back. But, I'd also be much more insistent upon looking at other options. The installer was another story. He was 70 minutes late, and realized when he got the old machine out, that he'd forgotten his tools. A job that should have taken him an hour or so wound up taking over 5 hours. If I were to return to Almvig's, I would find my own installer. I would like to give the local guy a first crack at my business, which would be my main reason for returning to this store.

 + -1 moreI had a fabulous experience with this store and its owner. He gave us several accessories for free and reduced the cost of the microwave to a very very low price. Several months after the appliances were installed, the stove caught on fire due to a defect in its design. The owner contacted Thermador immediately and because it was the day before a holiday, he was willing to let us do our cooking at his store. He took total responsibility for getting us a new stove as quickly as possible and dealt directly with Thermador on our behalf. He also called us several times a week to inform us about the delivery date of the new stove. Once the stove arrived, he got Thermador to schedule installation within two days. The installer botched the job, and Don had a technician to our house immediately (normally it takes a week to get a technician). Don then called to check to make sure everything was okay. Don really cared about us as customers.
Description of Work: We purchased a Thermador professional stove, GE microwave, and LG refrigerator.
