These are the people that you want to replace your water line! They are very knowledgeable and professional. They had to did multiple pilot holes to guide the mole, but when they were done you could not even tell there was ever a hole there. The landscaping looked untouched. Great firm to work with that did a great job!
Description of Work: They replaced a 300 foot water supply line between the street and my home. They used a mole to dig the hole between pilot holes to direct the line with the minimum amount of disruption it the landscaping. They placed the pex line through a liner so it would be protected from damage.

After receiving a letter from the water district stating we had a leak in our water line and noticing that our water bill was more than last year by about 50% we called Akers Outdoor Plumbing (after reading a review on Angie's List). On very short notice, Andy and his crew came out late in the evening the next day and located the leak. Our water line is about 600 feet from the meter to our house so this was not an easy task. The next day, the crew came out and dug the hole exposing the water pipe, located the leak (which was exactly where he had marked it the evening before) and fixed the leak. They checked the water meter and there was no evidence of leakage. The job was all completed quickly and professionally. They returned the site to the original condition. Thanks Andy, Traci and the Akers crew for being responsive and professional!

The job exceeded expectations start to finish. They were onsite to assess the situation within 2 hours of my call on a Sunday morning and walked me through the decision process to repair or replace. There was no pressure to up-sell the job; they were happy to repair. I decided to replace and they clearly explained all of the piping options. I had a bid back with two hours which was in the middle, not the low or high. Their bid also included upgrades to the main connection for our irrigation system and the required back-flow valves, which had not occurred to me. The others did not offer or suggest this upgrade. My yard is in pristine condition so I was onsite as was Andy (I assume the owner) and he actively participated in the install. The attention to detail exceeded expectations (Andy and his team are more picky than me which is close to impossible). The entire team (including Traci who handles the office) was personable and professional. The site was left in better condition than before they started.

Andrew and his assistance were responsive to our request to get a quote to replace a leaking main water line. We called in the early afternoon and they came that evening. A written quote was sent to me email the next day and we arranged for the actual work to be done a couple of days later. The work was done as per the contract and they arranged all the underground locating services as well as inspection with the city. We are happy with the overall services and highly recommend this company for water line replacement services.

They did an excellent overall job, came and gave me an estimate fairly quickly and once we accepted the bid, they scheduled us in a timely manner. We had several bids, and although they were not the least expensive, they weren't the most expensive either, they were personable and I appreciated that when they stopped by to pick up the last payment, they brought my garbage and recycling bins back from the street. Job was done in a single day (not accounting for the city inspector), and if you were to look at the 2 places the dug holes you would not know that anything had been recently done. If you want the absolute cheapest, these are not your guys, but if you want excellent quality at a good price you can't do any better than Akers.

I discovered some water bubbling up in my front yard which is heavily landscaped with large rocks and plants. It seemed to get worse over a few days and I was concerned about serious damage to the yard and house. I had to go on a business trip in a few days and could not leave the water shut off to the house until I returned given that my wife would be at home. I called several companies to have them investigate. They gave me estimates and said it would be a 3 day job. I called Akers based on the Angie List review and found them to be very friendly on the phone and extremely responsive. Given my concerns how bad the leaked looked, Andrew Akers, the company owner came out the same day I called even though it was at end of a very long day for him. He spent several hours with his specialized equipment to find the leak and devise a solution. Akers was the only company to properly diagnose the source and location of the leak in my front yard. The other companies I called had rushed to judgment about where the leak was and suggested a messy and complex repair. Had I gone with one of these other companies it would have required tearing up my yard only to find that the leak was not where they thought it was. Andrew not only found the correct source of the leak, he suggested a much lower impact solution which would be less costly and impactful on my yard and house. He walked me through the options and gave me an estimate next day. I told him I could not leave the water shut off for days until I returned from my trip -- so thankfully he as able to adjust his schedule and come out just two days after his initial assessment. This helped tremendously with my work schedule and made my wife extremely happy as she would not have to go without water in the house. Andrew's team promptly came as scheduled. His team was very professional and friendly. They mapped out a strategy to fix the problem as they had discussed with me, and given their analysis they were able to fix the problem in ONE DAY (not three) at a cost lower than his initial estimate or that of the other companies. Moreover, they cleaned up the work space in the front yard leaving it better looking than when they started and had minimal impact on my plants and shrubs. Andrew guaranted his work and I could not have been more pleased and happy at the outcome. It was probably the best home repair experience I have ever had and my dogs (Flynn and Bentley) really liked the team. I would HIGHLY recommend Akers to anyone with an outdoor plumbing problem.

Akers did an incredible job. First of all, there price was the best I found after contacting multiple companies. I also appreciated how they explained everything they were going to do so that I understood the process. The work they did was great. They needed to dig a few holes in my front lawn to put in the new pipe, but after they finished my lawn looked like it hadn't had holes dug into it. Also, the part of my garden they needed to dig looked better when they were done than it had before (there were alot of leaves in my garden and they were nice enough to rake them up for me). Also, they quoted me the price that involved drilling a hole in part of my driveway but after they started working they found out it wasn't necessary so they took off $200 from my bill. They didn't have to tell me that or take that money off and I would have been none the wiser. It's this kind of trustworthiness that makes me recommend this company to anyone that needs plumbing work.

I noticed water on the walk-way, but it hadn't been raining lately so I took a broom and swept it and it din't dry off I called the city they came out and determined I had a leak in my water line. So I called four plumbing companies, out of the 4 one gave me a bid from his truck, 2nd was $2,000.00 higher than the first, the 3rd was a nice guy but I just din'tfeel confident with him. The last one was Ackers outdoor plumber started w/ Traci on the phone to Andy coming out and looking at the situation, explaining what they would do. They would go from the meter to the house using a trenchles installation for the water line, Landscaping would remained untouched. Andy was also the only one to go in the crawl space under the house to make sure there wouldn't be any hidden surprises. Work crew was very professional Ryan,Pedro all Top notch!

They said an estimate would be forthcoming. Two weeks passed and I called to see if they had had time to work up an estimate. The office gal said she would remind them to do so. Two more weeks passed without a response. They were nice folks to deal with in person when they responded to my initial call but as Woody Allen said in one of his movies, "95% of success is just showing up". So, a D overall.

We needed a sewer line repair. I had had an estimate from a very high-profile company and my family said I should look on Angie's List to see if there was a better price. I choose the Akers. Andy came out and the estimate was about $2,000 less. He explained the problem so I understood it. They did exactly what was asked, including a wonderful clean-up job. In fact, the area worked on looked better than before. During this time there were many storms in the area resulting in emergency jobs for the company. Therefore, since our situation was not an emergency, it took longer than expected before the job was done. And, that was very understandable.

Our outside water line broke at 8pm on a Saturday evening while we were home during an unusually cold period in early December. On Sunday I called several plumbing companies for estimates. Andrew Akers was most attentive to my needs, he provided a free work proposal detailing all work to be done. I accepted the very reasonable estimate on Sunday evening. Akers Outdoor Plumbing, Inc. began work on Monday , installed the new water line and pressure tested it Tuesday, had it inspected Wednesday, and backfilled pits on Thursday. My property surface was completely returned to its original pre-problem condition. During the 4-day period all open pits were covered with thick plywood and orange cones to prevent injury. The excavated soil was placed on tarps and covered and the area was continuously kept clean throughout the 4-day period. Andrew Akers personally ran the ground mole tool and his employees did the hard labor work. Mr. Akers' employees reflect his integrity. All work completed for me by Akers Outdoor Plumbing, Inc. was highest quality, thorough, and carefully done. The inspector said it was meticulous. Check out his You-Tube videos, especially the 8-minute video, it is very informative.
Description of Work: Trenchless installation of a new water supply line between the Seattle Water Department tail-run and my house. Their work included: 1. Arranged for all underground utility clearances. 2. Hand dug three small pits each to a depth of about 30 inches below ground surface to accommodate the trenchless ground mole tool. 3. Break out and patch a small portion of concrete measuring 16" x 27" to install new copper tail- run at house foundation. 4. Installed to code new water line, sleeves, trace wire, unions, fittings, and new 1" ball valve and tied into existing plumbing at house foundation. 5. Arranged for Seattle Public Utilities inspection. 6. Upon approval backfilled all open pits using existing soil and returned landscape to its normal condition.

Our tenant informed us that there was little water pressure and we check the water meter and it was spinning. Immidately called the water company and they came within 5 minutes and turned the water off. We found the problem that the water pipe had busted underneath the detached garage floor. The water company gave us Akers Outdoor Plumbing and said they were good. I called them immediately and they said they would come very soon. Andrew Akers came and looked at our problem. He wrote up a work proposal and said that they could start the next morning. We couldn't leave our tenants without water and the water pipe was most likely the original pipe for 1950 or earlier. Andrew explained everything they could and should do for this to be completed the next day. Andrew contacted the water company to have them located and mark all the utilities. The next morning about 7 am I was there and Andrew with an crew of 2 other men came to start work. They were early but that was fine by us. The utilities had already been there and marked everything along with a paper blue print for Andrew and crew. They went to work and replace the water service line with 1-1/4 CTS Pex Wirsbo, approx. 115 ft. line with an additional 15 ft of 1" Type K soft copper. They hand dug the trench (18-24") to lay the new water line from the meter to the basement in the back of the house. They laid the water line inside the 2" corrugated sleeve with blue 18 gauge trace wire per code. They also install new copper trail-run at the meter location, pressure tested and backfilled the trench. Also installed two new frost proof exterior spigots 1 near top of driveway and the other near the back porch. With all the digging they had to do they never stopped and work all day. I don't even remember if they stopped for lunch! The gravel drive way looked better after the work then before. Our tenants were thrilled to have the water back on by 6pm! The water pressure in the house is 100% better than it was before. You can now take a shower and turn the kitchen faucte on and no one gets burned or frozen in the shower. Fantastic job!!! Andrew, his wife (her name escapes me) and the two guys working were all just the nices people. Friendly, honest, and very hard working. This is a company that I can't say enough great things about. If you ever need any outside water projects call Akers Outside Plumbing, they will do a fantastic job and get it right the first time.

My neighbor and I had a plumbing emergency. Her sewer pipe and ours connected together going out to the street. She was getting water backed up in her house. We had to get the sewer pipe repaired quickly. We got several quotes from different companies. We decided to go with Akers. Initial quote ($6000) As soon as we decided to go with them. They came out the next day to do a full inspection. It turned out that the sewer pipe was deeper than they thought and we had another broken section on our side. They gave us another quote for ($9000) for the main section that needed to be repaired where my nieghbors pipe and mine went out to the street. They gave me a quote for ($1500) for the work that needed to be done next to our house. We approved the work and the next day they came out and had the work done for the main section. It was at that time that they told us that the main sewer pipe was being crushed by the telephone pole on top of it. They wanted to run a blow in pipe for the larger 6" sewer pipe going into the street. This was the best option to avoid having to dig up the pipe in the street. After they did the blow in via another company, we couldn't use our water for 24 hours as the pipe formed. On the day they did the blow in pipe, they also fixed the section next to our house. Once everything was all repaired they put the grass and everything back so that you wouldn't even know that they had done anything. The work they did was excellent. They put everything back the way it was and clean up well. They kept us well informed of what was happening and made us fill comfortable in using them. My neighbor and I were able to spit the cost of the work except for the part that they did that was on our side of the pipe. Our houses were built in 1963 so the sewer pipes were really bad.
Description of Work: They replaced a section of broken sewer pipe where my neighbor and I shared a pipe ($9000). They blew in a replacement section for the main sewer pipe. ($6000). They repaired a broken section on our side of the pipe ($1500).

There's a small leak somewhere in my main water line. I called Akers at 4:45pm on a Tuesday thinking I would make an appointment for the future. Well, much to my surprise the owner, Andy, and another plumber were willing to check it out at the time of call. They went from the shop to my house within the hour, didn't know you could find customer service like that anymore, told everyone at work about them. They spent at least an hour at my house looking for potential options since I have expired galvanized pipes. These guys are obviously qualified and well versed professionals. When they left I offered them money but to no avail. They sent a bid to me the next day. I didn't accept because I'm not ready to replace the main yet but will consider when it's time.

We live on the side of a small hill and our water meter is located on the street below. Many years ago a Sequoia tree had been planted over our water line, which is now huge and a few years ago the roots broke our water line. To replace the water line required boring underground uphill, under the neighbor’s back yard, under our back yard, and under our 12 foot high retaining wall. We had several estimates for this work. Akers' estimate was not the lowest, but Traci and Andy offered both personal interest and professionalism, so we chose them (thankfully!!) for this daunting project. The project was completed without a hitch and with not even a hint of damage to our neighbor's professionally landscaped back yard! Without a doubt, we recommend Akers for any type of work they offer!!!

I determined from water bills that some time in January my home's water usage had dramatically increased. After a bit of troubleshooting, I isolated the leak to the water line, between the meter and the house. In addition to the leak, the line had very low flow (50 year old galvanized pipe). As such, only one fixture was usable in the house at one time, and even that required a boost pump. Due to the distance of the line and its placement (beneath the planting strip - between sidewalk and curb) that this was a job for professionals and not me on the weekend. SPU sent a field inspector to verify my meter's location and its plumbing as well as roughly locate the line. Records also showed that no easement was in place for the line, confirming that I would have to hire someone. The inspector also noted that I could potentially reduce my past water bill resulting from the leak so long as the replacement line was inspected. Additionally, they noted that of the previous work inspected, plumbers tended to do a better job than contractors. I looked over the many larger plumbing firms offering outdoor line replacement, specifically using "trenchless technology". Due to the line length and vast quantities of concrete driveway and sidewalk between meter and house I wished to avoid replacing concrete as a result of excavation. I chose 4 plumbers from which to get estimates. My specific criteria were that 1) they had experience with trenchless methods 2) used their own crew/equipment 3) had done business in Seattle proper for some time. I was attracted to Akers more than the other plumbers because their specialty is outdoor plumbing. Additionally, I was concerned about some landscape features (specifically, large stone slabs installed in my neighbor's planting strip) being replaced correctly. Traci Akers assured me that all landscaping would be fully restored. Of the 4 firms, only 3 were able to give estimates (one did not have the appropriate bond in place with SDOT to do work in the right-of-way - the planting strip counts as SDOT RoW if no easement is in place, as it was explained to me). Andy Akers was able to stop by the house in the evening about a day after I called. A few days later he submitted the work proposal. Of the 4 firms providing estimates, only 3 estimators wanted to meet with me in person, Andy being one. Andy was very professional and certainly not pushy. He showed up on time as well. The original estimate came in almost $1k lower than anyone else, which, along with my experience meeting Andy made the decision very easy. Andy offered to give me a small discount if my neighbor chose to get his line replaced as well. He too suffered from low water flow, and given his circumstances (constant home improvement) was very willing to get on board. Work commenced the week of 3/11/13. Work occurred over a period of several days and backfilling was completed the next monday. Prior to starting the job, Akers did have to reschedule a few times due to a personnel shortage; however, in scheduling the job I did specify that this was not rush or an emergency. Nearly all of the work was outdoors, the only indoor bit being connecting the new line. The water was off for possibly 2 hours mid-day, which was not an issue. The worksite was kept impeccably clean - tarps for all dirt, boards to keep concrete from getting muddy in vicinity of holes etc. The line was bored in one day using moles. This required only 3 holes, none of which displaced any concrete. Akers made this work look easy! The end result is that I have a 1.25" PEX waterline from meter to house, no leaks, plenty of water volume at the house, and no evidence whatsoever that any work was done outside. Akers did an expert job of replacing all landscaping (including the large stone panels) and restoring grass, soil etc. In addition, the pipe penetration in the basement is very clean. The indoor work was performed with great care not to make any mess or bring dirt in. This is a consideration because the pipe is in a finished part of the basement. Overall: - leak gone - water flow greatly improved - no mess outside, no trace of work - no concrete replacement - clean work environment inside and out - pleasant to interact with - best price If you have an outdoor waterline that may be leaking or exhibits low flow, I would recommend Akers. I am very satisfied with their work. Thanks Andy and Traci.
Description of Work: Outdoor waterline replacement from meter into house (aprox. 110' of line). Path through planting strip. 1.25" Wirsbo PEX line 10' copper 1" line extending from house. Landscaping restoration to prior conditions or better. No concrete removal resulting from work. Minimal soil displacement.

The original water line (home built in 1968) failed and started leaking. It wasn't a gusher, rather a slow and steady flow which added approx. 25% to our water bill in LESS than 1 month. NOT GOOD. When the water began to pool around the water meter we knew it would only get worse so my wife checked Angie's list for recommendations. She contacted Akers outdoor plumbing after doing extensive research and they came out right away. Andy Akers took the time to explain our options, covering new water line choices and the features and benefits of each. He discussed the entire process from permits to installation and the timeline for installation and completion. Akers plumbing sent us a DETAILED bid/work proposal the next day and after discussing our impressions, we ordered the work to be done by Akers. I had envisioned a demolished front yard, walkways, etc. When I got home from work the day the job was to have started, I asked my wife why the work had not begun, she calmly said, " they got here right on time and are finished!" I thought she was kidding. I was thinking backhoes, jack hammers, etc. What we got was a new water line and shut off valve ON budget and with NO noticeable damage to the surrounding grounds. They were the best. It is so refreshing to know that straight up and honest contractors exist. That means a lot to my wife and I. She "felt" it was right from the beginning and it was. If you find yourself in the situation we were facing or need help with outdoor plumbing in general, our suggestion is to contact Traci Akers and set up an appointment. It could have been a whole lot worse. Thankfully Akers outdoor plumbing was there for us!
Description of Work: The water service line between the water meter and our home was replaced and a new water shut off valve was installed.

Andy Akers came out and met with the city inspectors and brought his crew who had to trench very deep to get to the bottom of the very deep foundation where the pipe came into my 1924 home. He had to install both a new water line and a new sprinkler backflow device and shut off , in a very narrow space. He also had to remove some new landscaping. Although I was out of town, my neighbor watched the work and said that he never seen a more efficient and professional crew...They competed the job in a day and restored the landscape exactly as it had been. The city inspector approved it then and it has worked perfectly since. Traci Akers, who manages the office, worked with me by phone and maintained excellent communication about the work although I was out of town. I would use them again, absolutely. The quality of work and peace of mind were well worth what I paid for the work.
Description of Work: While I was out of town my neighbors found a notice from the city that I was using many extra gallons of water and they suspected a broken water line. I had to work from a distance by phone and e-mail to get bids for the work and chose Akers, from Angie's list, who specialize in exterior plumbing. Although they cost more than other estimates I received, they were absolutely the most professional and detailed in their assessment of what needed to be done, the inspections required, landscaping restoration, and the choices of materials I could make.

Northshore Water District informed me of a probable water leak somewhere between the meter and my house. After checking Angies List I decided to contact Akers Outdoor Plumbing. I spoke with Traci and she was able to set me up with a same day appointment with Andy. Andy and his assistant Ryan came out that afternoon and spent quite a bit of time locating the leak. He was able to narrow it down to an area and then discussed possible solutions with me. He suggested two solutions: 1. continue on with the leak location process and fix the break in the line at that point of breakage. 2. completely replace the water line with a new line. Since the line was approximately 30 years old I decided to replace the entire line. Ryan and the rest of Andy's crew came out two days later to do the work. They dug a trench from the meter to the house and installed the new line. It sounds so straightforward but this crew worked their tails off! Due to the nature of my yard they had to do everything manually. Pick and shovel. No fancy trenching machinery (although they have it for when it's appropriate.) They were able to get the new line installed in one day. Once again: This crew is a bunch of hard workers; no standing around leaning on shovels with these guys! And Andy doesn't just stand around directing traffic. He get's down in the trenches also. Following the installation the yard was returned to the same condition it was in before they started. They took a good bit of time to do that right. I'm very happy with how things turned out. I'd hire them again without a doubt.
Description of Work: Installed new water line from meter to house. Approximately 60 feet of new line was installed.

Akers arrived within an hour of my call, were punctual, did the job quickly. We'd already located the leak and done all the trenching required, but splicing in a new 'Y' was best done by an expert. Akers fashioned a new brass part to replace the broken plastic one, cut the broken piece out and installed the new part. Not sure if this was the best price or not (this was an emergency and we didn't have time to get bids), since it only took about :30 onsite to do the replacement once they'd fashioned the brass fitting at their shop, but it did require two visits. They were there when they said they'd be, they were very nice and solved the problem. We are satisfied customers and would call them again.
Description of Work: Akers replaced a 'Y' part on our buried outdoor water line.

They were fantastic & helped me immensely. They were here within 25 minutes of the call. The owner showed up & gave us a solid bid using a new kind of product & explained everything in great detail. They said they could do it in one day. They showed up the next day on time & worked for 8 hours straight. They were clean, professional. They even did a little extra work & didn't charge me a dime.
Description of Work: I had a major water line break

Akers was the first company out of 3 we contacted for a waterline leak, assessment and repair/replace. Traci and Andy from this local company were professional and extremely friendly from the get go. You felt like you were talking to your aunt and uncle who you trust to get advice and help from. That immediately put us at ease on the work we were about to do. For the past 2 water bills, we've seen a significant spike in our amount due and finally got to call the city to have it checked out. Of course the problem was not on their side and was on ours. Our house was up a driveway at the end of a cul de sac, which meant that the line from the meter to our house is really long and finding out where that leak was would be difficult. Akers came out, assessed our situation and recommended that we replace the whole line. Andy and Ryan was extremely friendly and thorough about what they would do. Between Akers and the other 2 highly rated angies list plumbing companies that came out, Akers was the cheapest. Mainly because this is their specialty, and the other companies would have to subcontract out the excavation and drilling. The job took about 3 days, it was longer and the ground underneath our driveway was a lot harder than they anticipated. There were a ton of hard rock, and random debris that kept collapsing onto itself when they tried to place the pipe. This ultimately added 300 more to the bill, but again was still lower than the previous 2 companies. The team took care to talk to our neighbors, to let them know what was about to happen and how they could be of service and not be in the way. Both of our adjacent neighbors later commented on how professional and excellent the job was, we couldn't have agreed more. They both have had services done to their lines as well with other companies before we moved in. All in all, they made this ordeal really easy to handle, Andy and his team were extremely professional and friendly, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced waterline from the meter to our house. Akers had to excavate our long drive way in 3 different spots to help guide the water line. Used Pex Wisbor pipe to replace the poly tube that was existing.
