I received a water bill that was nearly double this billing cycle over last and much higher than anytime in the last year (based on the bar charts they provide on the water bills). I knew nothing was leaking in the house, so I figured it had to be on the outside between the meter and the house. I did a quick search on google and this trenchless option came up from Akers Plumbing. I watched a youtube video that they had posted and I went to both Yelp and Angie’s list and the reviews were great. I called these guys on a Friday afternoon and spoke with Tracy who friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. This is a family owned business and they were leaving on vacation for a week starting on Sunday. I asked if they could come out and take a look at my issue before they left and they did. I was freaking out about the fact that I had a water leak and I was glad that they could take a look and squeeze me in for an estimate before they left. When Andy arrived we opened the meter and it was not running and there was no leak after all of that. He was straight up and happy for me that there was no leak! The best I can figure out is that SPU estimated the water usage in February when we had snow, instead of reading the meter, and then in the next billing cycle, they actually read the meter and caught up for the underestimated bill. The fact that we were home with the kids more during the school snow days likely accounted for it). Bottom line, while I don’t have to replace my waterline at the moment, I will use these guys in the future when I do as they were friendly, communicative, knowledgeable and a local family run business that have been around for 30 years.

Akers outdoor plumbing came to see us when our water bills were astronomical and we concluded there was a leak outside the house. We discussed an appropriate replacement for our pipe, concluding it was likely the 40+ year old original had failed. Akers handed permit arrangement for the job and came out promptly to do the work as soon as they had an opening in their schedule. The job was done well with good communication about the need to break into our driveway slab in a small corner section to access the pipe. The yard looked great after the job and the water was back on with no issues. Our bills since suggest they fixed the issue. We chose copper piping per their recommendation with the hope that this is the final fix. We recommend them enthusiastically for this type of work.

Andy and his crew did an outstanding job. It was a difficult replacement because of the distance and all the underground utilities in the path of the new water line. All the obstacles were conquered and the job went very smoothly. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat/ Great service, reasonable cost, and good people to work with.

I am incredibly happy with the work that Andy and his crew did with installing a new waterline. For background, I went on vacation for a few days and came back to discover water coming out from underneath my driveway. I called four plumbing companies for a bid. Of the four, Andy was by far the most thorough in examining the problem and explaining his solution. One of the tools he has (which the other companies didn't), is a horizontally drilling tool, which can dig underneath the driveway. Meaning, he doesn't have to jack hammer the driveway to lay down the pipe, so it's a lot cleaner and doesn't require patching up the driveway. He was also the only one that checked the crawl space to see how the new line would be going into the house. I decided to go with Andy, and I couldn't be more satisfied. His team showed up within a few days and worked quickly to get my water running again. I am especially appreciative to Andy and his crew, because they adjusted their schedule so that they could get to the water leak (which was only getting bigger by each day) sooner. His crew was experienced and friendly (they've been working together for a while, which is a great sign). After the city inspector came and gave it a thumbs up, his crew cleaned up and left everything in even better shape than it was before. They even washed the dirt off the sidewalk. Also, I should mention that they were very responsive in communication (thanks, Traci). I would absolutely recommend Akers Outdoor Plumbing! They're professional, knowledgeable, honest, and just good people.

I called Akers after reading a number of the Angie's list reviews and I am really glad I did. Andy came out and gave us a quote the next day and was able to complete the job about 10 days later. Everything went very smoothly and Andy, Traci and team did an outstanding job. I am really impressed with how they kept the landscaping completely intact. They even removed my landscape fabric and put it right back in place!

Excellent team that did an excellent job

They were able to do it the next day as leak was leaking from outside the house through the basement wall where sewer came in into the basement. They also patched up that hole along with water line and another even older line from the original water line. They cleaned up everything, we were able to get city approval that day so yard completely back to baseline by end of the day.

Line had to go up a steep bank, thru a tiered yard, and around to the back of the house. Work was completed in two days! Crew was great and they did such a fantastic cleanup job you would never had guessed all that work had been done. Great job and would highly recommend this company.

Fantastic work and super easy to work with....really know their stuff!! Got the whole water line and a new shut-off valve installed in a day. I was very impressed! This job went great, unfortunately, I got no response to 2 requests for a bid on some additional work. :(

I have nothing but praise for Akers Outdoor plumbing Inc. The communication was easy and pleasant; the service was quick; the team was VERY professional, nice, and VERY clean.; and the price was very reasonable. It's been a pleasure to work with them!!

Akers was very responsive and provided excellent services. The one part I thought less than an "A" grade was that there was an aggressiveness regarding final payment when there shouldn't have been an issue.

We suddenly found ourselves with a broken water line due to a City water surge the day after thanksgiving. Our plumber no longer digs, so we did intensive online research to find a plumber to repair/replace our line. We discovered Akers Outdoor Plumbing who has an A+ with the BBB and outstanding reviews from their customers. We were told by the City that we needed 3 estimates for the work and they came in the lowest. They also are proficient with drenchless repairs. Because our line was galvanized steel and runs 100 feet from the meter it was impossible to find out how many breaks were in the line. With the technology that leak detection companies use, they can only find the first leak that they come across even though there may be several. Akers would only quote a line replacement because of the age of the line. Further, they were the only company, with their technology, that didn’t need to cut up concrete to replace our line and that was key to us. Akers is experts in this field, this is all they do and we were enormously pleased with their knowledge, experience and results. . I would highly recommend them for any outdoor plumbing needs!

Awesome! The crew arrived early and well prepared to face the job at hand. The path that Andy had originally proposed would not work. Ryan, the work lead, said it was not a problem and consulted with Andy over the phone, and they came up with an excellent alternative which brought the line under the driveway, under a flowerbed and up the lawn. They called the locator to identify where all the other utilities were on the property - gas, power, cable, sewer, etc. They also obtained the necessary permits from City Hall. Once the locator validated where those were and with the work permit in hand, the crew set to work digging several holes that were used to feed the "mole" through and then the replacement poly-pipe. The crew was amazing. It was a hot sunny day, and they remained focused on the task and worked quickly with minimal impact to the landscaping and lawn. They completed the installation in approximately 6-hours, back filled all but two holes, which they had to keep open so the City could inspect and sign-off on the work. They replaced the grass piece they'd carefully layed back, and raked the landscaping bark back into place - they did such a good job, you could not even tell where they had dug. The inspector signed off the next day, and the crew returned the following day to fill in the holes. You honestly could not tell the landscaping or lawn had been disturbed. While it is no fun to find the leak, or have to invest in this kind of repair, Andy, Traci, Ryan and the crew were so pleasant to work with, it made the entire situation positive. Thank you, Andy and Traci - and thanks to your professional, dedicated and talented crew.

I discovered the leak over Memorial Day weekend and Akers called me back a few days later since they were out of the office for a couple of days. Andy then waited for me when I was stuck in traffic to look at the problem. He had other jobs going on but worked me into their schedule and completed the majority of the work in one day. An inspector came the next morning and signed off and the crew came back and finished up the next day. They did not have to dig up my entire flower bed, they dug three holes near the meter, near where the connection went into the house and then in the middle at the end of the driveway. They then made a new trench with their underground tool and simply threaded the new copper pipe through the new trench. It was very efficient and worked great. Ryan, Pedro, Olie, and Cameron were all very professional and courteous. Traci was great in the office and with the scheduling and Andy supervised the project, ensured the connection was secure and properly installed. They did have to cut some larger roots from a tree right on top of the old line, which was not anticipated, but seemed unavoidable. In addition, the cost was more than half off what other contractors wanted for the job. I would hire Akers Outdoor again in a minute! Thanks for the great work!

I requested a quote from this company and received an email on May 26th stating someone would be in contact with me within 24 hours to schedule. It is now June 3rd and they have yet to contact me and I still have a water leak.

We noticed a leak in our front yard the weekend after Thanksgiving. Tracy got back to us promptly and was able to send Andy later that day for an estimate. The price was what I was expecting and Andy thoroughly explained the situation and the work involved, as well as anywhere that there was a potential for more cost. That was Saturday. On Sunday, they sent the estimate, which had no surprises and, due to the severity of the problem, gave our job priority and said that they would fit us in first thing on Monday. I signed the contract electronically and workers showed up at our house at 10:30 on Monday. They quickly got to work. By 3pm, the water line was replaced, tested, and the inspector arrived. After a quick inspection, all was clear to fill in. They filled everything back in quickly and with an eye toward putting things back to the way they were. They did a fantastic job, were extremely friendly happy to answer questions, and did their work professionally and quickly. I was very impressed and will definitely give them a call if other problems arise.

All went fairly well. He kindly spent a good deal of time with me. I was strongly considering going with this company. But I became a bit miffed because he said that he would send me the bid in writing the next day. It didn't come. Waited and waited through the weekend . Finally I called the office and was told that they had been moving over the weekend and Andy would send me the bid sometime that week. I thought this a bit lackadaisical since Andy obviously knew they would be moving and didn't bother to tell me. I was worried that I was going to be charged $$$ for a ton of water so I wanted the bid asap. He knew this; so communication was not great. One other thing...Andy had this "don't worry little lady; we'll take care for you. Don't you worry your little head about this!" demeaner when talking to me which resented One last thing he pushed the rolled copper sheeting for materials. He would not even discuss using PEX. He claimed both were the same price. I wanted to see the bid BOTH ways but he didn't listen to me. There are advantages for using either material but again he would not discuss this with a "poor, little, worried lady" like I was dumb or something. I might recommend them for other such jobs but he didn't work for me this time

Several months ago we watched as our next door neighbors had their yard torn up in order to have a new water line installed. We were very impressed with the crew and we agreed that if we ever needed that service, we would hire them. Despite the trenching and pulling back sod, when they left the job, you couldn't tell that they had ever been there. Andy is very pleasant and professional and his employees are the same. We were only without water for less than a day. We would highly recommend Akers Outdoor Plumbing to anyone needing a new water line or sewer repair, etc. They are at the top of their game.

I found this company on Angies list along with three other providers. I had no idea who to contact for this type of work so I was starting from stratch. I had them all come out to give us estimates and right from the start, this company distinguished itself. Traci, who took our initial call, was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Because it was an emergency, she was kind enough to prioritize our request. The owner came out to the house right away, even though it was a Saturday, and spent a great deal of time with us, answering all of our questions about the process, the materials and the best course of action. Compared to the others that came out, he was much more knowledgeable, he did not pressure us and he was very honest and straighforward. We had additional questions the following day and he and Traci both called us back right away, even though it was a Sunday. We decided to hire them, even though they weren't the lowest price, because of the time they took to educate us about the process and their low pressure sales approach. Our decision proved to be a great one. The crew arrived on time and started right to work. They were friendly to deal with and they worked non-stop all day, not even stopping for lunch. They encountered a few issues with our compacted soil, but they called in additional resources and kept working. It was almost dark when they finished but they stayed late to sweep up, repair the grass sections, cover the dirt piles with tarps so they wouldn't turn to mud and made sure the exposed trenches were covered wit plywood so it was safe until the inspector could come out he next day to sign off on the work. The young man that led the crew was an incredibly hard worker and got right in there with everyone else digging and picking through the hard packed soil. He was kind enough to answer my questions throughout the day and keep me informed on their progress. I don't know if he was an owner or not, but he worked like one! We have an older home and as a result, we've had to hire a number of contractors to help us with major repairs. I can honestly say that this was the BEST experience I've ever had with a contractor. From start to finish this project was professionally done and each person we worked with at the company was a pleasure to work with. I've never written a review before but thought that Akers Outdoor Plumbing deserved recognition for a job well done.

Akers Outdoor Plumbing was a delight and a relief to work with after an initial aborted analysis/estimate from another company. I found Andy Akers through Angie's List, where I had specifically sought a company where there would be direct owner-expertise and owner-involvement, not just hired hands. Akers is it! It is a model family-run company, with Andy's wife very responsively handling scheduling and information-pass-through, keeping the job coordinated and on-target. Andy arrived on schedule with his trusted team of 3-good men Ryan, Ole, and Pedro, who handled the heavy digging and earth moving, assisting, etc., while Andy personally did the planning, layout, pipe-joining, testing, etc. Andy was up-to-speed on Shoreline's permitting process and did everything to code (Something that the company which had given a previous estimate totally blew off, even when I had done the research and reminded them of the necessity). Andy gave careful thought as to how best to shape the 20-foot long cut through the patio concrete, so that the concrete replacement would be visually pleasing and not look like an unsightly repair. Andy skillfully figured ways to improve the grade of the flow within the constraints of the geography. He did all of the fitting of connections and the installing of the external clean-out in a careful and professional manner. The project was completed in 2 days, start to finish, including cleanup and hauling of old pipe and debris. He prepared the trench with the tamped-down gravel layer, ready for my concrete contractor to pour the concrete. By the way, I found the concrete company, Shoreline Concrete, through Angie's List was well, and was quite pleased with their coupon deal and the quality of their work. Andy Akers and his team do first-class work!

I contacted Akers after I found my driveway had a leak from underneath. Originally they said that they will have someone coming the next morning at 7:30am. After I pleaded to them for how bad the leak was and I hde a guy coming on the same day.
