Description of Work: Moved a piano. No complaints on the service--they did a good job. I don't know if their price was high; I didn't have time to compare prices. Given that, I'd use them again,

Description of Work: They moved our large household goods/furniture from our old home in Vancouver, WA to our new home in Camas, WA. The 3 guys were prompt, courteous, careful, professional, but most importantly, caring about our items moved. We will definitely recommend them to all our friends and neighbors and be sure to use them again the next time we need their services.

The company was able to schedule an appointment to coincide with the piano's arrival from out of state. On the day of the move, three men arrived late, but they called several times to let me know what the problem was (traffic) and when they thought they would arrive. The piano was up and into the house in about 15 minutes. They were efficient, careful, and very polite.

My piano tuner recommended Big Al's for our piano. I had a sub-zero refrigerator that I needed moved and I thought they might be the guys. When the fridge was delivered, the delivery guys were not able to get it up the stairs and had to leave it in the garage. The guys from Big Al's were able to move it. They helped me remove the packaging and then moved it into its final location. They also were kind enough to move a wall oven from the garage into the kitchen.

Both times I had to call Big Al's, it was a "moving emergency" on my part due to poor planning and unexpected deadlines. Both times, the guys at Big Al's dropped what they were doing and made themselves available the very next day. On one day, the owner's son called in a crew and an extra truck on their day off. Both times they showed exquisite care of the piano, my household and other items they were moving.
Description of Work: Big Al's has helped me twice in the past year, once to just move a piano, and again to help me move the piano and other items.

They are incredible. I have moved 3x in the past 10 years, and I have had several problems with other companies. They are careful, courteous, and respectful to my items. They even helped me move items around to help make them fit. They are very reliable. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They did an excellent job of moving the piano. We were disappointed in a glitch in communication as to exactly how long it would take; this piano is a "member of the family" and we couldn't help but be worried. The gal called us first thing when she heard our messages and emails. Other than this, we were satisfied.

They arrived at the destination an hour late because after picking up my piano, they wanted to pick up and deliver something else on the way. They did call and make sure it was OK with me though. Upon arrival they backed the truck and opened the truck ramp right up to my doorstep. Since I have 7 steps from my driveway to the front door, that saved me some money because piano movers charge extra for each step they have to carry the piano up or down on. At first we thought we wanted the piano upstairs in our bedroom but upon seeing our hesitation, Big Al (yes, the owner himself) suggested we place it in the living room since our kids would see it more often and be interested in playing it. That was 16 more steps that they did not have to carry it up and saved us more money. Big Al also recommended waiting 3 weeks before tuning the piano so that it would get acclimatized to our living room.

The job went fine, although they broke the timer knob on our dryer. Since we had chosen the least expensive insurance option it wasn't enough to cover the repair. They offered to give us a complete (used) replacement dryer they happened to have at their warehouse rather than leave us with our broken one and a few dollars from the moving insurance coverage. We accepted and they delivered and installed another dryer. They went above and beyond what was required by contract and we are quite satisfied with the result.

My wife called around to a couple of specialty movers before feeling really comfortable with Big Al's. The appointment process was easy and the person at the other end of the line courteous and accurate with the cost estimate. On the day of the move, 3 guys showed up on time and were more than capable of gently loading our piano onto the truck. We only had 1 step in front of each house, but they negotiated each with ease. The move was 10 miles, in traffic and was complete in less than 1 hour. Despite also having a general moving company, Big Al's did a great job with this specialty move. I'd be happy to use them in the future for any local moving job.

I had a tough move, and called Big Al's to move my piano. Knowing the space would be tight, I asked them to come look at where it would have to go before moving the piano (since it could stay put if it didn't fit). They never came to look at the space, and after not showing up for the first appointment at all due to over-scheduling, moved it to the new home. Upon arrival, determined it would not, in fact, fit, so there I was with my piano in my driveway and nowhere to put it. They ended up putting it in my garage, where it was subsequently damaged by cold and damp until I could find it a new home. The finish is ruined, and the tone is muffled and uneven through the registers. I was extremely disappointed. They were apologetic, and didn't charge the quoted rate (since it wasn't really moved), but the end result was bad. I will probably use them again, though, since they are the best game in town.

I called on a Friday, they scheduled the move for Saturday! They contacted the seller of the piano to set up the pick-up, then called to let me know the window of delivery. They called on their way to the pick-up, then on their way to delivery; I knew exactly when they'd arrive. When they got there, there was some tough maneuvering to get the truck in the right position for the shortest carry, and they did that well. They had to remove a handrail to get the piano up some narrow stairs, and did it quickly and well. I have a difficult front entry and they were always in full control. Everything was padded and "sledded" perfectly. The piano never touched my well finished floors until it was in position. I did moving and storage in my youth, and these guys are real pros. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

The movers were great. They called ahead of time to say they were on their way and they arrived right when they said they would when the appointment was set up. They moved deliberately but quickly and had the piano moved out within 20 minutes. They followed me to my daughter's apartment and got it moved in and set up without a scratch or dent. The whole move, take-down and set-up took under an hour. Just a note, Big Al bought Baxter's piano moving, that's how I hooked up with them. Called Baxter's, got Big Al.

Big Al and his colleagues were terrific. They first did a quick survey of where they needed to go, where we would be placing the piano, etc. Then they moved the piano carefully, put on the legs, and patiently moved the piano a few inches here and there based on my direction.

Jack and crew conducted the move well within the time frame specified, called in advance to let me know they were coming, were organized and very proficient about the move. The piano had to make it through a couple of doorways with only a couple of inches to spare, and it never bumped up against anything. They were very pleasant fellows with whom to deal, courteous and funny, and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat (although the piano will hopefully be sitting right where it is for many years!). I was quoted a price range on the phone of $190 to $210 depending on the difficulty of the move, although I had described the number of stairs on each end, and ended up charged the high-end of the quote because of stairs, which they were already aware of. ? However, it was within the quoted price and they did such a great job overall that the 20-buck difference between low and high quotes was fine.

They were on time, called to verify the appointment an hour before and performed all parts of the job admirably. They are experienced and professional. The only problem was that the supervisor insisted on charging me $350 when the office manager and I had agreed on a fee of $300 to $325. I didn't want to argue with him so I just paid him. Afterward I sent the office manager an email and she refunded $25. But it does cement my intent to get every quote in writing from now on.
Description of Work: This company moved our upright grand piano and a large safe from our old home to our new home, 25 miles apart. They had to move the piano up a half flight of stairs and the safe down a half flight of stairs and into a tight area. Because I'd just had a bad experience with a different moving company, I made sure the office manager and I agreed on a price up front and asked her to email it to me so that I had something in writing. I was very explicit about the challenges of the job so that they could quote accurately.
