My experience was great. Dan was very professional. He provided me with a bid upfront and he stuck to it even when he discovered unexpected complications in job (18" studs instead of 24" which meant extra framing). He was very clean throughout the process. He was very careful and created a "plastic room" around his job that made sure the dust doesnt spread to the rest of my living room. The skylights looked great after they were installed. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the result. I'd recommend Dan to anyone who wants a skylight installed.

After giving us great advice on our options and a fair, thorough estimate, we set a date for service. We were out of town at the time of service, since it would take two days of construction and we have small children. When we came home we were thrilled! It was like the skylight fairy had been! Everything was spotlessly clean - you would have thought the skylight had always been there. They even managed to find a *perfect* match for the paint we used. I can't say enough wonderful things about their service!

First we had to make sure that Skylights West could do the job. We'd previously met with another company who said that our roof was designed in such a way as to make access very difficult and they were unable to do the job. Skylights West agreed to do the job, though they charged us a bit of a premium for the extra effort it took to do the work, given our tricky circumstances. Still, it was totally worth it, and I was excited that I'd found a company that would take the project at all! I love having the Solatubes in place! Our house faces north and my office as well as our stairwell could be very dark even on a bright day. The Solatubes provide much more light than I'd expected and I rarely need a light on during the day anymore. A huge improvement! The installation itself was very easy on our part. While working, a plastic drape was put in place so that any dust was contained. We had very little clean up to do after the job was finished. I was really impressed. The installation was quick, too--maybe four or five hours total. We're really happy we used Skylights West and we love the increase in natural light!

He was there when he said he would be. Roof repair excellent. Finish work on new skylight was excellent. Clean up great!

Out of the several contractors we called, Dan was the first to return call and come out to take a look at our plan. He came on time. After took a look at our attic, he told us that skylights will not look good in our living room because our attic is too tall. The skylights would look like sun tunnels and would not have the effect we are looking for. Although a little bit disappointed, we appreciated his honest opinion. We could image a bad contractor will just give us what we want and wouldn't care how the finished picture looks like. He also gave us the suggestion to open up the ceiling if we really want some lights into the living room. Unfortunately he is a one-man crew and doesn't do extensive project like this. He recommended us to find general remodeling contractors instead. Dan is a honest good man and know what he is doing. We would definitely consider him when we want skylights in other places of our house. Thanks, Dan!

Dan is a hard worker and did a great job. He worked hard each day and even through some illness. He's a very honest man with pride in his work. The job took longer than expected due to additional framing and illness but he did not drag his feet at any moment. We will likely put in more skylights in the future and would not even bother looking anywhere else. We got several bids for this job and he was by far the best value.

I was referred to Dan at Skylights West by my roofing contractor. We figured it was the best time to do skylights with the roof coming off and it was great that they knew each other and could contact one another directly to coordinate each step of the way. Because he lives far north of Seattle Dan doesn't usually take jobs so far south. He really did this as a favor and well, I hope he made enough money to make it worth his while. I doubt he'll be heading this far south again though. If he does travel to your area you will be very impressed with him. He's the owner and does all of the work himself. He's been doing this and this only for decades and is very skilled at his trade. Aside from that he's just a great, easy-going guy and we enjoyed having him around. He doesn't say much while he's working, but will surely answer questions if you have them. He'll probably get you laughing with a "zinger" every once in a while! I should also say that he was very patient and helpful in planning our project. We didn't know what size or type of skylights were even possible and he worked with us, crawling around in the rafters taking detailed measurements to figure out what would work best. The end result is stunning.....much light has been brought into the center of the living room and it also added some architectural interest to the space. We also love the Solatube in the little bathroom. It's dark no more!

We were referred to Skylights West by our roofing contractor. We e-mailed Dan and set up an appointment for him to come out and talk to us about skylight options. We were interested in adding some solartubes in a couple rooms. Dan walked us through each room and pointed out where solartubes would work and where they might not be the best option (they require a minimum roof/ceiling depth). We were also interested in some venting skylights and he advised us about options (electric, solar, manual, etc.) and costs of each option. I especially appreciated that he did not try and upsell anything, just offered options and left the choices to us. We ended up deciding to install 3 skylights and 6 tubes. Dan submitted a bid to us which we accepted. We were going to have the skylight work done at the same time we had a new roof installed so he coordinated with the roofers on the schedule and timing. About a week before the project was to start, we changed our minds on one skylight, opting for an opening one rather than a fixed one. We e-mailed Dan about the price difference and he responded promptly. He was flexible about the change and ordered a new panel for us right away. The day before the roof work was to begin, Dan came to our house to begin to do the cuts through the drywall and begin to prepare the holes that the skylights would do through. Dan uses a very thorough & complex system of tarping and draping his work area and he leaves no - zero! - dust. Even in our bedroom and bathroom, we could not tell that someone had been in there cutting through the drywall. He maintains a very clean and well organized work space. Come roofing day, Dan was there both day to oversee installation of the exterior flashing and begin the next phase of the interior work. He finished the solartubes on the second day and had the skylights roughed in. Because our city requires a buildng permit and inspection for skylight installation, he had to wait a couple days until the inspector could come out and sign off on the work, which the inspector did without any problem or concern. Dan then came back to finish the interior openings to the skylights, finishing the drywall and applying primer and, the following day, to do finalize the drywall treatment and and to do the final coat of paint. He matched the paint in all 3 places exactly and, once again, left a completely clean work site. We are delighted with the final product, both in the size and placement of the skylights and in how they look, both inside and outside. The extra light has transformed several rooms in our home and we now wish we'd done this work 15 years ago. We are completely pleased with the work that Dan did. He worked well with the roofers, did quality work on his solo projects and produced a great end product for us. He was also pleasant to have around. He's quiet but personable and really attends to his work. We were delighted with the end result and have already let him know that we will be contacting him later this spring to have several more solartubes installed (he did tell us that they're addictive) both because we like the effect they have on a room but also because we were so happy with the speed and quality of his work. We'll gladly work with him again and recommend him to others. Update: 15 months later and still, no leaks, no problems.

Dan at Skylights West helped us replace three skylights in our home. Two had to be custom ordered as they are 4' by 8' each. Dan worked with the vendor to order the correct skylights, came out and measured the skylights, and then installed them. Dan is the ultimate professional, taking great care to get the job done correctly. All three skylights are perfect and the job site was tidy and clean. We would work with Dan again in the future without question. Awesome Job!

Very good - Dan returned my call promptly; arrived when scheduled and did exactly what he said he would do. He even performed gratis on the spot repair of a leak to one of my skylights before I had even engaged his services!

Called about roof leak, he was booked up solid. Told him I had to leave on long trip and was afraid of damage. He stopped by after work to take a look and found roof damage from water at bottom of the skylight. My house had a new roof put on about 5 or 6 years ago. The skylight had not been flashed right by the roofing company & eventually caused damage. Plywood on the roof had to be cut out & replaced, shingles needed to be replaced & skylight re-flashed. He worked after hours and returned at 7 a.m. Saturday morning to finish the job before I had to leave. He cleaned up after himself and even blew the roof off when finished. I am going to have him install another skylight in my house after the first of the year.

We needed to have our skylights replaced because the original frames were breaking due to age and other problems. Skylights West replaced 2 skylights, cleaned up, added some trim, and painted the trim. The job was quick, professional & nicely done. The area was clean, the paint & trim looked great. No hassle, job well done.

Mr. Marsh was tremendously helpful throughout, from initially advising us through training us to open and maintain our skylights, and his skilled artisanship is reflected in our beautiful results throughout the house. He matched and did all the interior painting needed to finish the openings in our ceiling and left us the extra paint. We would recommend him without hesitation to anyone needing skylights installed or replaced!

We weren't able to close our skylight (it was jammed into the open position). We left a phone message in the evening, and the next morning our phone call was returned. First the guy (I believe he was the company owner) talked my husband through a couple things he could try on his own, but when that didn't work he arranged to come out at noon. He arrived on time and spent an hour working. He adjusted the skylight so it would close, but now we're having the same problem again. Not the guy's fault. We probably need a new skylight installed but now the guy is reluctant to come back - I'm assuming he has bigger jobs lined up and doesn't want to bother with us.

Dan was very professional and personable in his approach to bidding the job and in doing the work. The work area was walled off with plastic sheeting, hung from the ceiling to contain the dust. The floors through the house were lain with cloth dropcloths from our front and back doors to the work area. He totally cleaned up and dismantled the work area at the end of the first day, even though he had to set it up again the second day. Everything was left in tiptop shape when he left at the end of the job. The end result was better than we had envisioned with not only changing our family room into a bright and cheerful room, but the skylights have added a significant degree of architechual interest to the room. The workmanship is nothing short of superb. Simply stated, we are thrilled with the result.

Dan checked out the leaking skylight and determined it was a failure of the skylight. He determined it was under warranty by calling the manufacturer and assisted me in contacting Velux for the warranty repair. He also checked out an additional skylight and cleaned the rain sensors of both. He was not going to charge for the service until I insisted he be paid for at least a service call. I would definitely use him again.

I called and left a message. 2 days later Dan Marsh the owner called me and we set up an appointment for him to look at my house that afternoon. He gave me an estimate on the spot and worked out the details with my roofing contractor so all the work could be syncronized. Dan showed up on time with all of the needed materials and got the new skylight locations cut out and framed in without disrupting the roofing crew. He got the drywall in and mudded and then came back the following week to texture and paint, and install the 2 replacement skylight lids. I watched all of the work and was very impressed. Dan took no short cuts. All of the work was done to high standards and it was obvious he is a perfectionist. He was enjoyable to talk with and very patient answering my questions. He left a very clean work area. I will recommend him to everyone I know looking for a skylight. I could not be happier with the results.

I shopped around for skylights and got quotes from 3 other companies. What impressed me about Dan was that he was the only one that looked at my roof construction to see what arrangement and size of skylights would work in my house. When I booked him for the job he was punctual and completed the work during the 100degree days we had in Seattle this summer where working on the roof must have been really grueling. The job was completed one day earlier than expected and the installation looked beautiful.

He seemed to know exactly what he was doing. He was easy to work with. He was punctual and responsive. His prices were the lowest around. His work was excellent and his quality of product was excellent.

Dan from Skylights West is the dream craftsman. When I first called, he responded by telling me that he was too busy to make more estimates, but he d get back to me, which he did a few weeks later. He gave us lots of sound advice as to what would work in our home, and since he does all the work himself, he was very knowledgeable and could anticipate what the problems might be in our 50 s ranch house. His estimate was well below that of another (much larger) firm. Moreover, I think he had a better grasp of what we needed. Dan was very honest about when he could get the work done, not for four weeks, but he came on exactly the day he said he would. He got the work done in exactly the amount of time he said he would, four days. His workmanship is outstanding. He was very courteous and unobtrusive when he was working in our house, but he is very warm and friendly in conversation. He arrived each day when he said he would and he cleaned up after each days work. We are very pleased with the skylights and the solatube. I wish home improvement could always be such a positive experience.

Dan s price with installation was only marginally more then the actually cost of the skylights themselves...I called the manufacture directly to price them. Dan did a great job installing the skylights and was very easy to work with. I ll look to Skylights West for any future projects I have.

On his first visit, Dan Marsh began with a detailed discussion and estimate, which he furnished on the spot. He seemed to know his stuff and moreover submitted the lowest bid. It took several weeks (due to our vacation and rainy weather) to arrange the installation, but on the scheduled day he arrived at 8:30, put down a pathway of protective canvases, and kept on going until 4:30 or 5:00. Everything was complete in one day, including the repainting. We enjoyed working with him and appreciated the meticulous clean-up before he left. The new skylight makes a big difference in our upstairs room - no more heat loss and street noise - and the quality of the work is outstanding.
