I had Dan install a skylight in my bathroom, at the same time I was having my new roof put on. He was familiar with the roofer, and they worked well together. His price seemed very reasonable to me. He was so neat ? he put down tarps from my front door to my bathroom, put plastic over everything in the bathroom, and then built himself a plastic ?room? to work in, where he cut the skylight. All the mess was very contained. When he left, except for the beautiful new skylight there was no hint he had been there. He was polite, friendly, punctual and professional. If/when I want more skylights, I?ll definitely call him. I HIGHLY recommend him.

The owner operator was responsive in returning my calls. (He had 19 to do he said!). He gave me a fair quote and was very knowledgable. I chose him over a standard glass co. because he carries standard sized skylights in stock. In our PNW weather, no one wants to wait. He came within 24 hours of my call, confirmed the size of skylight, and replaced it right then. It took about 30 minutes only.

Finally decided to install a skylight at the upstairs hall way of the house that we recently purchased. Because it's an old house, the ceiling is very low and feels depressing and the hall way is dark. I've recently become an Angie's List member, so I searched Skylights on Angies' list and found Skylights West that had great reviews and no complaints at all. Also checked this company on Yelp.com and their website, all are saying great things. The owner is Dan Marsh and he came and gave an estimate and set up the time for the project. He was able to accommodate to our schedule so that the project can be done in a timely manner for us to move in. On first day of the projct, he arrived right on time and by the end of the day, I could already see the rough structure of the skylight. It took totally 4 days just as he had promised and all are finished in a timely manner. Both me and my wife are very happy with the skylights, which really brighten up the house and also make it feel more spacious and modern. Dan said that he can give us 10 years' warranty and if there is anything wrong, just call him up and he can fix it for free, although he said that he hasn't received such a phone call in 15 years. Highly recommended.

Dan did an awesome job! He was here within a few days. He worked me in because I had a crack in the ceiling. He took the time to explain everything to me! He was top notch!

Dan installed a 10" Solatube in our guest bathroom; what used to look like a cave now looks bright and airy. He installed a 14" Solatube in our kitchen area. We have an open floor plan for our living room, dining room and kitchen and although we have large southern exposure windows, there was a part of the kitchen that just always seemed dark. We thought about doing a skylight, but our roof angles and the layout of the kitchen wouldn't work well with one. Solatubes are definitely not as good-looking as skylights, but installing a 14" Solatube was doable, much less expensive than a skylight, and the kitchen is now considerably perkier light-wise. It took a little while to hear back from Dan after I contacted him, but he was worth the wait. He came out to assess the job so that he could give us an estimate, and he really checked things out thoroughly. Actually, the first thing he did that made us happy was put on booties as soon as he came inside the house. Gotta love a contractor who wants to keep your floors/rugs nice! He quickly got back to us with an estimate and we scheduled the job. Dan and his helper arrived on time, put down floor coverings and got to work. His installation job was extremely tidy. He left zero mess. The Solatubes were sited in exactly the right places (not as easy as you might think). We have an attic and Dan needed to work around some structural obstacles plus deal with our fairly complex roof angles. He did a great job. We had a Solatube installed in our laundry room a couple of years ago by another company, and Dan's work was much better. We're really pleased.

It was done on time and on budget with no issues. We were happy with them.

Dan was responsive and visited same day I called. Due to it being a very windy, gusty day, he wasn't able to do any work on the roof given the risk, but he returned at the next calm day and tarped the skylight, stopping the leak, and ordered the replacement skylight. His tarp held through some pretty intense rain until the new skylight was ready to be installed. Installation was straightforward and completed timely .

Best contractor I ever worked with. Came in. Created a "room" out of plastic tarp to seal his work area. Spent the day cutting and installing. Was done in one day. Charged me the exact amount as the bid even though after cutting it turned out he had unexpected extra work. Final product looks great and he painted the area for an exact match. It looks great and it's already been 5 years!

Took a little while to schedule him in, but we're happy with the lights. Also ordered some lenses that worked well later on.

Dan spent a good deal of time with me coming up with a suitable plan when he came out for the estimate. He was thorough in determining what was and wasn't feasable and providing options. He had answers for all of my questions and I never felt rushed. He coordinated work with the roofers that also started work the same day. Quality of the work was excellent. I would definitely recommend Skylights West and would contract with them again.

My first review was a misunderstanding and does not reflect the actually. I have been contacted by Dan and he was very prompt, responsive, professional and pleasant. I also had several bids from others and his price is very competative and better that some of the other bids I received. Though I have not had the work done yet, I am in th emiddle of signing the cotract with Dan and his company to do the work for me in replacing 3 skylights. I would definitely recommend Dan and his company to others.

We used Skylights West for our new skylights and could not be happier!! Dan was great and easy to work with. He kept things clean, showed up on time, stuck to his price and has unbelievable paint matching skills. The skylights look like they have always been there. Dan was easy to have in the house and used drop cloths and plastic sheeting to keep the dust out of the house. These skylights were installed and the ceiling was mudded and painted in a week. It was very impressive. This was all done in the rainy month of February. We live in a very wooded area and our house is now bright and cheery because of these wonderful skylights. If you live in the Seattle area, skylights in your house will change your life. Dan is the skylight man!!!

On a rainy morning, discovered I had a leaking skylight. I began a search on Angie's list to find a provider who could fix the leak that day and then order a new skylight and install at a later date if needed. I started down the list of providers that resulted from an Angie's List search. Dan at Skylight West was my 4th call that morning and, thankfully, the first one who was able to come out that day. Dan arrived right on time, covered the skylight with plastic to temporarily prevent more leaking, and then shared the news I'd expected -- this skylight was kaput. We discussed options and agreed upon a replacement skylight for Dan to order. He said it would take about 2-3 weeks for the skylight to arrive. Sure enough, in just over 2 weeks he called and we set up an appt to install. Dan said it would be a half-day job and, sure enough, it took him about 4 hours. All dealings with Dan were very positive and I would use him for any future skylight issues. I didn't give a grade for pricing because I have nothing on which to compare -- the initial call was on an emergency basis and I didn't have the opportunity to price out other service providers.

This review is long overdue. When I had my roof replaced, I figured it was a good time to put a skylight in the bathroom as well. I had collected bids from several roofers, and two had recommended Dan and Skylights West. I checked Dan out on Angie?s list, and invited him to bid. I was impressed with his attention to detail I have other skylights in the house, and he noticed that there were differences in their construction that I had overlooked. He was very good at helping me to get clear on exactly what I wanted. His bid was competitive, and he won the job. He coordinated his schedule with the roofers so that he could start the installation when they were doing the tearoff. I was impressed that he could get that thing framed and installed in a day, by himself. He also had to reroute the bathroom vent. He came back the following day to finish the drywall and to paint. It?s been two years. The skylight works great, and the finish work and paint have also held up well ? better than the last paint I used in the bathroom! Overall, Dan is very professional. He really knows his stuff, and pay attention to details. He asks the right questions. One of the best experiences I?ve ever had with a contractor. Highly recommended.

He came exactly on time, checked the skylights from the inside and outside and explained my options. I chose to have them both replaced. He installed new skylights in a few minutes, left no mess, gave me the warrenty and invoice, was paid and on his way in less than one hour. He was polite, knowledgable, informative, and wore covers on his shoes to protect our floors. Thank you, Angies list, for such good information.

Dan did an excellent job. He is very experienced and efficient. He installed the skylights in a few hours, a job which would have taken me several weekends. He did a nice finishing job, they look better on the inside than the originals did. He quoted a price which I felt was very reasonable, and when the job was complete charged exactly what he quoted, even tho there was some minor complication. Overall this was the best experience I have ever had with a home construction/repair job! I highly recommend Skylights West.

Dan from Skylights West did an excellent job. He is a true professional. He returned my email promptly, arrived early for the appointment. He took time to explain things and took time to make sure to put down drop cloth to protect the work area and to keep things clean. The work was done in the time he mentioned and he took the time to do it right. He also did not even charge me for any of the extra work he did in making fine adjustments to the solar tube. I also asked Dan to take a look at my two existing skylights and after carefully inspecting both of them told me that they were both good and nothing needed to be done on them. Dan is an honest professional and I would use him on any future solar tube or skylight work.

They gave me an estimate that was specific to the problem that I had. They explained what was needed to do and why. They did what they said they were going to do and now, it looks great. Dan came right away to give an estimate, discovering that I had a deck-mounted rather than a curb-mounted skylight. Instead of simply replacing the glass, as one can on a curb-mount, the entire skylight had to be removed and replaced along with some roof shingles. The estimate came quickly, and installation was fast. He arrived early on the scheduled day, protected the area beneath the skylight with thick plastic, and set to work. About half way through, the building inspector happened by. Our town requires a permit and have an inspection even for simply replacing a window - something he and I did not know because most other cities do not. Dan went right away to get it, but they were out to lunch, so he came back and finished up. Then he went back to get the permit, but they told him to come back in 20 minutes, which he couldn't do since he had another job to get to. But he had filled out the form, so I was able to pay and schedule the inspection. I wish all contractors were as professional, helpful, and thorough as Dan!

Dan came out promptly to give us an estimate, ordered the skylights, and was back within a couple of weeks to do the installation. Not much more to be said -- he bid the job, he did the job, and we're happy with our new, clear, non-leaking skylights. Dan was a pleasure to work with. Knowledgeable, thorough, efficient -- and gave us a much better price than the other estimate we received.

Dan was so professional and quick!! I can't believe the whole thing was done in less than an hour. Very prompt and skilled. Would definitely use them again.
