TruGreen Lawn Care - 5870

Successfully used this company for summer 2012. They sent me a request to renew, and apparently in the fine print was a caution that they automatically renew. OK, I missed that one. But, they came without notifying me in advance so I could prepare my lawn and treated a lawn that was still covered with leaves! This is not quality to my satisfaction. When I called to complain the only response I got was that they wanted their money.

Very Professional...On time, good job, reliable. I will us them this coming summer.

I started the year using Scotts lawn care products on my own years ago and love them. Scotts came out in the spring and had negotiated with me a $75 per application (roughly 6 times per year) price for professional lawnservice. Initially I passed as I enjoy doing much of the yard work myself. Well after doing 3 - 4 applications of product (of which the results were fantastic), I just came to conclude that I didn't have enough time in the day, and that the price was worth paying someone to do it since I was spending $50+ per bag and my time. So in late summer I called them back, they kept to the original quote of $75 and I was off and running. I've now had two applications performed. Early fall I had the liquid fertilizer plus weed control applied. I was skeptical at first, as the serviceman walked all over the yard just waving a hose back and forth. Well the weeds quickly died and I was quite happy. The best part was the serviceman was extremely knowledgeable and explained to me that what I thought was crabgrass was actually Dallisgrass. No wonder all my own crabgrass prevention/treatments didn't work. Just wasted $$. But he did give me some great advice on how to start weeding it out of the yard. My second application just happened two weeks ago. The reason for the delay was that I reseeded and fertilized this fall on my own (cutting the professional cost in about 1/3). As a result I called Scotts to tell them I did this and they correctly moved my next application to avoid the new seeds and recently applied fertilizer. About 6 weeks later they called to say they would be out but Hurricane Sandy hit, and due to the weather there was another delay. Normally within 48 hours of a call they are out in the yard working, but I can't blame them for a natural disaster. When they did arrive 2 weeks ago, the serviceman had applied a granular fertilizer/winterizer. Each time quietly they left a bill on the door and a computer sheet explaining exactly what chemical was, its composition, and how much was applied. I really appreciate that. In all to be fair, I cannot yet truly comment on the results of their work. Its just to early to tell. But in professionalism, knowledge, and care taken to the property, I think they are great. I will have to update this post at the end of next year to see how the lawn has fared. But if my own previous experiences with Scotts products are any indication of expected results, then I remain very optimistic.

They did a good job. They were always prompt, they always came when they said they were going to come and on schedule.

The overall experience was good. The quality of work was good. We never knew when they were coming until we saw the truck. They weren't one to let you know they were coming. I would not use them again, because my son now does the work.

The customer service was extremely problematic and I wasn't happy with their service. I told them I needed to stop service until I replanted my front lawn but they kept calling me wanting to come back out. I am not sure where the miscommunication was but it really turned me off and made me not want to use them again. The person that did come out was very professional and did the best he could. Overall I think it was a waste of money.

Do not use TruGreen! I have been with them for 7 years and finally had enough. Stupid me. Problems are: 1) Horrible customer service. I complained over and over insisting on having a manager talk to me in person or I would drop them. Nothing. So I fired them. 2) I continue to get weeds. Shoddy application. I suspect they have been skipping doing my back yard. 3) When you do report an issue they want you to point out every weed, instead of reapplying the lawn. 4) Harass you for payment. Literally two days after the bill arrives you get a call asking when you are paying. They make you feel like a dead beat. Use a local Landscaper who will actually care about you as a customer.

They listen and do things the way you want them. For example, you can choose natural fertilizers and other specific products if you like. It is what you want that you will get.

I have used them off and on for three years. They were not very responsive. I will not use them again.

They are okay to work with. They come out three times a year. I think they are a little pricey.

The lawn virtually died. We called and they said it wasn't their fault and that we didn't water our lawn enough. We are using a different company now. They have people working for them that could care less and they were concerned about a paycheck and not the customers.

I have a yearly contract and get a yearly fee for the things they do. They do the grub service in my area. There are lots of problems in my area for grub, so they have to come out once or twice a year to do the grub service. They charge $200 a year and they come five times a year. They have been responsive and if there is something that I don’t quite like then they will come back and redo it. They are very good at calling me back. If I need something else like if I have any problems with insects or something, they will put me down for that service if that’s what I want. They also can do tree service. They have people who come and spray trees, fertilize trees and things like that. I used them because I had problems with bugs. I don’t have problems with bugs anymore. They are very responsive as I can talk to anyone in their company as I can talk to the guy who drives the truck or who does the service.

I would say that they were very professional, they good at communicating with you and keeping you informed of progress. We've used them for quite a few years, we've definitely like them and we find that their pricing is very adequate.

After one year, I tried to get rid of them and they tried to make it right by coming out and doing some free services but they are just not good at what they did. They did try, they did make an effort to fix things but they are just not the best at what they do. That's the issue with them.

They are pretty good and treat my yard with respect. We have a little special thing around the pool. I leave it unlocked and they come in and do it. The same guy comes in for all the treatments all these years. He has been very good. I think that their pricing is competitive. Since it is the first time I have used them for this year, I don’t know if they gave me deal or not. I really didn’t check out any local companies. It just seemed that their price was okay.

The TruGreen Companies LLC - Lawn Fertilization & Treatment TruGreen, We have a large yard, over an acre of land, which was a very pretty yard, we had several types of grass, but it was still pretty. They started spraying it and the whole lawn started dying off. We contacted the company manager and he would never show up, or he would show up when we weren't home. Then we got in contact with the headquarters, and a lady there acted like she was going to get something done about it, but nothing every happened. So, we dropped TruGreen, but it is still a sore point because, they should have come out and done something about it. The last I heard was that someone was going to come out and re-seed, but our lawn care guy said it wouldn't adhere to the ground and I told the other guy that. I told him usually down in this area you have to use sod, and he never showed up after that. I never could get a hold of the manager, it was like he was avoiding my phone calls, he showed up when we weren't home and left his card in the door. I would not recommend this company to anybody! It was a horrible experience! We were going to drop them a year and a half ago, but they got a new guy in and he said he could make it better, but it didn't work. The new guy was the only one the was professional.

They were courteous, professional and we were happy with the resutls.

We also used them three years ago. We would never recommend them to anybody as they did the worst tree service ever. We finally fired them. It cost $300 a month. It seemed like it was always somebody different and the workers varied. Sometimes, we would get somebody that was very good and at times someone else that did not seem to know as to what they were doing. We would call if there was any problem or something and nothing would get taken care of. It was not the greatest company in the world. They are also constantly soliciting us because they are a big chain that is tied up with Merry Maids and the other three companies as they do different kinds of things. We constantly have been getting calls from them trying to sign us up to the other services that they do and the franchises that they are associated with. We are tired of dealing with them.

The experience is fine. I think they are getting costly and my lawn does not look that great, but they keep coming back to please me. They are doing the best they can, it must not be easy with our lawn. I think they have improved, they have been really concerned with our lawn and satisfaction.

They were expensive - the "have your credit card on file" system is a bad one as they would leave a copy of the invoice for work done - say a $70 job - but then much more than that got billed to the credit card on file. Don't do this! Also, for as much as we payed (typically $300 per month in the summer - which did NOT include any mowing, spring cleanup or fall cleanup as someone else did this) our lawn still does not look very good! When I would discuss with them bald spots, crab grass, etc I never really good good answers or solutions. The crew is nice and polite but they are expensive, the costs are sneaky and the work is not satisfactory. We tried them for a year but will no longer use them - it was a failed experiment.

Do not retain True Green. Not only will the results be average at best but they will upsell and harass you at length even if you put a "no call" on your account. Avoid.

They are very professional. They come out in the spring and summertime to do the fertilization. It?s a pre-paid service. We make a bulk payment for spring and summer work. I think they make around seven visits. Their lawn treatment is effective and we are satisfied with them. I think they are a little pricey, but their work is good. They don?t check with us before coming as they have their own schedules. They just come and do the work honestly. We would absolutely use them again.

I like the way they leave an audit report for auditing of the grass and the applications needed. They then give us a call to follow up and I like that they do this. I thought their prices were reasonable and they give a discount if you pay in full in advance. They will come back and follow up and they do an audit service and will reapply treatments if they feel the client is accurate with the assessment of the lawn. They have quality control with a call back system when they need to validate with you the work needs to be done. Whenever they do lawn fertilization treatments, they will put a sign with their company logo in your yard to let you know if they used a pesticide or not for protection of children or pets.

I called them on March 27th they failed to follow up with me. Two week later I call them back. They failed to show up for an appointment we scheduled. They do not stand behind their product. I feel that I have wasted my money.

Tru Green provides a great service at a competitive price. I pre-paid for the entire year over the winter and saved some money doing it that way. It was nice to know my lawn would be fertilized on a regular schedule all year long. I once called to request a treatment be delayed until after my child's birthday party and they re-scheduled without a problem.
