Description of Work: The provider came back saying I owed another $250 on top of the $379 paid for the "Big Deal". Apparently the deal was only good for small roofs (3000 sf) although the additional 650 sq. ft. on my roof is covered w/ solar panel where washing wouldn't occur. When we contacted the provider they tried a hard upsell, saying we really wouldn't want to use their regular cleaning formula because it would harm plants. And for just another $120 more... Just an unpleasant experience.

We wish we would have had the opportunity to service your home. We understand how you feel about the increased quote required to clean your roof. However, the Big Deal you purchased listed to clean a roof size of 1600 sq. ft. with up to a 5/12 pitch for a composition or tile roof; any cost difference would have been based on roof size, pitch, and style of your roof. The Optional Upgrade we offer all our customers is just that, optional. We believe in the Optional Upgrade and understand it may not be for everyone, rather it is for an environmentally conscience homeowner who is looking for value and longer lasting results. Description of Work: bought the bid deal. received a quote for 4x the price. called the provider but did not hear any valid reason for the inflated costs. My roof is bigger than 4000 sq ft, but the cost was 2x what the deal said a 4000 sq ft roof would cost. Asked why and did not get a direct answer. Asked again, but then just gave up, who needs a bait and switch. This, by the way, is the third provider who is using upsell/service price inflation as a key element of the big deal service. I want a deal, period, not a provider who has a chunk of my money prepaid and wants more "built into" the deal. I am considering cancelling my membership.

We understand how you feel about the increased quote needed to clean your roof in addition to the Big Deal offer. However, the Big Deal you purchased was for a roof size of 1600 sq. ft. with up to a 5/12 pitch for a composition or tile roof. The replacement cost of your roof today would not be based on a 4,000 sq. ft. roof as you stated, it would be based on a 5,600 sq. ft. to 6,000 sq. ft. roof. We use the same estimating approach the majority of roofing companies use to calculate size and it is important to note, the sq. ft. of a roof is different than the sq. ft. of the interior of a home. For this reason, it was important for us to be very clear in the Big Deal detail. It clearly states roof sq. ft. ranges, pitch variances, roof type and the additional cost for each, so if the homeowner knew their roof type, size and pitch it would give them the ability to estimate on their own what the additional cost may be. As we all know, not all homes and roof sizes are the same and the main reason a home sq. ft. and a roof sq. ft. would ever be the same is because the roof is probably flat and has no overhangs. We believe in our company, our services and our products. The majority of our jobs, if not all, are done with a discounted price and with our customers in mind. This is the first time our company has partnered with Angie’s List to promote a Big Deal such as this and what an amazing experience! Although we have been in business since 1999, partnering with Angie’s List is one of the best decisions we have made. We have been introduced to wonderful new customers we may have never encountered or had the opportunity to meet and we are so excited about that! Most important, we are able to provide our products and services to those seeking a good quality contractor who takes pride in doing the right thing and making their customers happy. It is very important for us to know how all our customers are feeling so we can improve or change something if it is within our power to do so. The Optional Upgrade we offer all our customers is just that, optional. Description of Work: I assumed that my roof was less than the 1600 sq. ft. convered by the deal. The extra charge for any portion more than 1600 was excessive resulting in too must cost.
