Description of Work: I had 2 bids for insulating my attic, $4,000 apart. Insulation Northwest was to be the tie-breaker. Their representative inspected my attic and told me I didn’t need additional insulation and explained why. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.

Description of Work: I had old blown in insulation in my attic which they removed due to a leaky roof. They replaced with all new batted insulation. This was a 2 day process due to 2 different crews performing different work. Both crews were on time and cleaned up at completion.

Unbelievably terrible experience with new construction. They failed inspections 4 times and finally passed on the 5th inspection. Did not show up as scheduled, tried shortcutting job, not to code, did not install product per bid, left a mess, etc, etc. Reinspections cost me over 4 weeks of construction delays. DO NOT USE this contractor!!!

Description of Work: Insulation NW insulated the loft area over our detached garage. The price for the work was fair and the work was professionally executed. The materials were an ECO friendly product made from partially recycled materials.

I liked the overall experience, and now I am trying to match the paint or choose a new color. They said they could paint but it would add a lot. I thought I had some paint from the builder, but it was satin instead of flat, so that is my only complaint... wish I had them paint too.
Description of Work: I had foam insulation added to my ceiling and interior walls to cut down on noise from the unit above mine. I can still hear running and jumping child, but they told me that no insulation can completely cut out vibrations. They came out the next day to estimate and then came out a couple of days later to install. It was done neatly and the wall repairs were done the same day (except painting). They were polite and cleaned up after themselves.

Jorge from Insulation Northwest was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. We don't know the first thing about insulation, so we had a lot of questions and Jorge was very helpful and patient through multiple rounds of questions while we tried to decide between spray foam and fiber-glass, then ultimately what R-value we should have. Jorge provided us with a quote for two options, one, a combination of spray foam and fiber-glass that got us to an R-29 value, another for just fiberglass that was an R-19 value. While we were initially leaning towards the spray-foam/fiber-glass option, it was significantly more expensive and we decided it was not an expense we wanted to take on at this time, so we choose to go with fiber-glass. From that point, we wanted to know more about our options with R-value and asked if a higher R-value fiber-glass would make a difference. R-21 vs. R-19 were two we were discussing the most, as they both properly fit into the space between the beams in the floor. I probably emailed Jorge about 5 separate times asking various questions about any differences we should expect to feel, heating costs, etc., and each time he answered quickly and thoroughly until we finally made the decision to go with R-19 fiber-glass insulation. They would have been able to come out a couple of days later, but I was not available so had them come out just over a week later. they told me they would arrive between 8 and 11am and just after 8, three men arrived to do the work. They worked so incredibly fast that I couldn't even believe they were done when it came time to sign. I believe they finished in about 2.5 or 3 hours. The work looks good --- it's not necessarily and quot;prettyand quot; because insulation is insulation -- it's installed well, cleanly fits into the space, and the ducts were sealed, tested, and wrapped completely. Jorge followed up and made sure I was 100% happy with the work and provided more information for the remaining questions I had about the product, work, and payment options. For someone who doesn't know much about insulation, I was grateful for the patience and thoroughness of Jorge, and feel like the outcome was great.
Description of Work: My husband and I moved into our first home about a year and a half ago. One of the findings of the inspection was that we should consider insulating our crawlspace, which has open vents to the outside and there was no barrier between the cold air and our wood floors. We finally decided to have this work done this year when it started to get colder out and we realized the insulation could help cut back on our heating bill and potentially make our home more comfortable. There is currently a Puget Sound Energy rebate for insulation, so we were referred to Insulation Northwest by the PSE system as one of their preferred contractors. We had our floors insulated with R-19 fiber-glass insulation and our ducts re-sealed and wrapped with insulation.

The first stage of the insulation was the installation of the fiberglass bats and some rigid foam. This was finished in one day. Insulation was a generic gray with no R-value rating on it so I really don't know if I got what I paid for or not. The rigid foam insulation looked pretty good except the last 6 stud bays where they spliced together all the scraps from the previous cuts and glued it together with a thin bead of firestop foam. When I questioned the salesman about this practice he assured me it was "industry standard". Some industries need to raise their standards. There is no way they achieved the same R-value as a solid piece of foam would have. Overall I would say the install was pretty sloppy but now that it's covered in sheetrock I guess I can say that it is insulated. They returned after sheetrock to blow in insulation in the attic. This is a very light and fluffy product like down feathers, much different than I have seen before, and again I have no idea if I got the R-value I paid for or not. My biggest gripe with this company is the way they go about collecting the bill. I've never dealt with any company who was so anxious to get paid. I was called to work the day of the first phase of the installation and was met with e-mails and messages on both my cell and home phones demanding payment. The salesman showed up on my doorstep the next day asking for a check for the whole amount (2,665.80) even though he had told me before that I would be expected to pay $1,000 after the first phase and the balance at completion. I told him that even though I could pay the balance in full I wasn't going to because if you don't trust me then I don't trust you. After some discussion I told him that I would pay $2,000 now since the majority of the work was done and pay the remainder after the blow-in. When it came time to do the blow-in I was told that I would have to pay before they would start. I feel it's not a good idea to pay for a service before I've gotten it but that was the only way they would start working. I called the office and charged it to Visa so at least I would have some recourse if not happy or if they stuck a boot through my new ceiling. I can say with conviction that I would never use Northwest Insulation again. I have excellent credit and could walk into any car dealership and drive away with a new car on my signature. I have never been treated like such a dirtbag by any contractor or business. The whole transaction just had a very fly-by-night feel to it. Would also like to add that even though the salesman claimed several times of membership in the Better Business Bureau I could find no listing for them on the state web site. That is actually where I started my search for an insulation contractor.
