Over the past few years we had five windows on the south side of our UW-area 1928 house fail and cloud. Finally it came time to get a bid and get them replaced. Procraft rated high on Angie's List, had been in business for some time, and did not sub out their work. We asked them to come out and give us an estimate which even beat our budget. There were a few challenges, but owner Skye was right there each time to stand behind his work and his product. We couldn't have asked for better service, and now I cannot believe we waited so long to do the replacement!

The initial install of the 2 side-by-side windows was at the end of June 2013. I had my painter visit the next day to caulk with a durable caulk, as we had been doing with all my windows. He painted the new window casings, etc after the caulk had cured. During his work, he found that the flashing on both windows was not done properly in that it was not lapping over the outer edge of the top frame and bending down so as to direct water off the top of the frame. In fact, the flashings were the old ones used with the old windows and were simply not replaced with new items that actually fit the new windows. I called this in to Procraft and they sent Pat out to fix, but it took almost 3 weeks for the response. A later examination by my painter determined that Pat had skimped on this fix. Rather than removing the old flashing and installing a properly-sized and shaped piece, he simply slid a flat piece of metal under the old flashing and bent the front edge down over the top of the frame. A proper fix would have had a new flashing made with a z-bend that 1.) slid up under the house clapboard siding above the window after the old flashing got removed and 2.) bent down over the front edge of the window frame. There is a #3 but read on. Recent rains (March 2014) have led to some indications of leaks in these 2 windows(not in the insulated part, but water coming in around the window glass and onto the casings). They had been dry up to this point. I had not seen any pooled water inside, but there has been marking by moisture of the fir casing along each lower sill. A key here is that this marking originated in one lower corner of each window and has progressively been moving toward the center. I first asked my painter to have a look before calling Procraft back. He reported that even the supposedly-repaired flashing was done erroneously (apart from the pure shortcutting first described) because at each upper corner of the window casing, the flashing was simply cut flush with the vertical frame edge. If done correctly, the flashing would have been made to overlap this edge and bend down to direct water off the top corners of the frame. He felt this was allowing leakage to enter and collect at the lower corners, where the marking was occurring, and I agree. I called Procraft to ask them to address the issue and was told that message would be given to Sky, I guess their foreman. 2 weeks later, I talked to Sky directly and he had not seen the message. We set up and appointment at 10 AM on a given day. Some minutes before 10 that day, Sky called and cancelled the appointment, which cost me 4 hours off work. He had one of his men call me back to set up another time. It turned out to be Pat, who did the sketchy work previously. So, with 2 callbacks that never should have been needed in the first place, delays in communication that allowed water damage to get worse, and abuse of my time that has now cost me time away from work--half a day, mind you--I'm done.

Procraft Industries were very easy to work with. They sent an estimator that also looked for any issues that could impact the window installation. He gave me an immediate quote that was competitive with other window installers. The installers did a nice job, and even put in new window sills. The Milgard windows they installed are very nice. I was impressed with Procraft?s professionalism and quality.

From the first contact on 10/22/13 until installation on 11/20/13, my experience with Procraft was excellent. A rock had shattered a slider and Dennis showed up as scheduled and took the time to explain just what was needed and what the job would entail. He measured and confirmed with Sky which product would be best for replacement. Tim and crew installed the new doors, were on time and finished quicker than estimated. Everything was cleaned up and taken away. Seldom give an A to any service, but Procraft deserves it. Am very satisfied with the new doors and Procraft.

Estimator and sales agent were fantastic, always on time, great follow-up, pleasure to deal with and really got us excited about the entire experience. I can't recommend that part of the experience high enough, Paul from Procraft is a total professional and As for the work: Installed one door backwards and one window backwards, were back within a week to fix their mistakes and apologized - even got a call from the company manager to apologize. At this point we were still extremely happy, everything looked great from first view. (This was over the course of two different installations) A month after the second round of work was done, we had our general contractor out to paint the new windows and do some other projects around the house. Thanks to some ants moving around on the window one of the days our contractors were out, we popped off one of the base boards of the windows to see what was inside. We discovered one of the window cills was completely rotted out and infested by an army of moisture ants wood was literally so rotten it collapsed at the touch: Procraft removed the old window and installed the new one on top of all the rotted wood and didn't say a word about it. The wood was so horribly rotted there was no way they could have missed it, they just didn't care and put the window in. When we removed the window to replace all the rotted wood and get the pest control team in to stop the ants from spreading, we discovered they simply put in the window and did nothing to insulate around it: no insulation, no brick mold, nothing. Was giant empty gaps on all sides with huge amounts of cold air escaping into the house. At this point we started un-installing the other windows and found the same situation with all of them, there will simply stuck into the frames and sealed around the edges, half the wood was rotted around all the new windows, and zero insulation had been used between the frames and windows. We spent nearly $2000 having our contractors re-insulate, install, and secure the windows at this point since we were so frustrated we didn't trust Procraft to do it right. Two of the windows still didn't seal right after the Procraft install and I had to go out and re-weather strip them myself to get them to work properly. We got a follow up call about the installation and let Procraft know our disappointment, the company rep simply said "oh I'm sorry about that" and that was that. Our initial sales rep has left a few messages trying to get us to use them for more projects, which is an odd move after telling them our disappointment, we've never bothered calling back. We paid a ton of money to use these guys since they were extremely highly rated, we could have gone with a cheaper option since they were pretty expensive compared to most, but we believed we were getting the best of the best. Could not have been more disappointing in the long run. What scares me about this is if we didn't have some ants running around, we never would have known everything was installed wrong, on top of a rotten foundation until the day it collapsed.

First I'd like to apologize to [member name removed] if she felt Procraft willing covered up a moisture ant problem. It is the policy at Procraft that if we encounter any dry rot, wet rot, pest problem or structural problems that we stop the project, show the customer the problem and give them a price on repair before we continue, this is clearly stated on the front of our contract. Regarding any wide gaps around he new windows the application could allow for this to happen as the new sash replacements need to be tight to her existing main frame in order to operate and the new casement windows we allow approx. 1/4" around the perimeter so we can set the new window square in the opening. Her painter my be looking and the old sash weight pocket behind the main frame. In any case we again want to apologize, but we can not address a problem or concern if we are not contacted about it. Sincerely, Sky Koponen CEO Procraft Windows

The crew from Procraft Windows is outstanding. They helped me understand the science of windows and assisted me in making the best decisions for my home. On the day that the windows were installed, the crew worked so hard that I originally thought there was a crew of four when and later realized there were only three! The woodworking was outstanding and the work areas, inside and out, were spotlessly clean. When these was a misunderstanding on the door hardware, Procraft worked quickly to change it and make sure that I was satisfied with the job. I highly recommend them.

Procraft installed a new door in the front of our house out to the patio. The old door was cracked and the glass broken. They gave me a quote to replace the door. This was not the cheapest quote, however I had a better feeling about Procraft than the other supplier. They installed the door without a hitch. It looks great and an added benefit is that it seals perfectly and no air leaking anywhere around the door. They called after the installation to make sure everything was perfect, and if I liked the job. I would use them again and would recommend them to others.

Tim and his crew were punctual, friendly, explained what they were doing as they went. They were very accomodating when building the bay window roof I wanted a different look than other windows and they did it! They were concerned about tarps on my lawn far more than I was(grass grows!) They left everything better than before! Explained the windows, door and cleaned up thoroughly. I would recommend them to anyone! Thank you, Thank-you
Description of Work: Eleven windows were replaced and a door. All the windows are triple pane and I could immediatly tell the difference in sound and heat. The living room windows were turned into two bay windows and a single door with a window was turned into french doors which opened up my living room and gave a great new look to front of house.

We have a home built in the 1920s with specialized windows. Although they look fantastic, they bleed a tremendous amount of heat in the winter. We needed a solution that kept the look and style of the home without draining our wallets in the winter. Procraft was an excellent service provider. They were prompt, showed us several options, and made the whole process very smooth and easy. The installation happened ahead of the time they were expected and they completed the work well within their estimated time. We will likely have to perform the same services on other windows in the house next year, and I won't hesitate to use them again.

The sales guy was late by almost an hour. He did however, call. Then her proceeded to show us this book of all these awards that the company had won. When looking at the print outs closely I noticed that they were from a few years ago, even as far back as 2002. We also wanted the windows lined and cased. Was told that we would receive a phone call with that information about could not quote that right now because of being unsure of the price. Took us out to his car to show us window samples. That did not look like other window samples I had seen from other companies we have also gotten bids from. My husband and I wanted to make sure that there was some sort of child stop feature that would make it difficult for a child to open the window completely. When looking at the sample made by the same company it didn't look right. It was suggested that we go to there show room. The sales guy told us to call ahead since we would be coming close to when the showroom/office would be closing and that he would tell the admin to be expecting us. When we called the individual had no idea that we were coming. The sales person that came out to our house was called the crazy uncle that every family has by the sales person that showed us around the show room. Also the sales person that came out to the house started bad mouthing the other companies we had gotten estimates from. Procraft was not the company we went with based on our experiences with our estimate. Which is unfortunate because a friend had used them and was happy with the job they had done.

Alex gave the pitch: straightforward, low-key, no pressure. He is a real gentleman, not always found in salesmen. It wasn't the lowest bid of the four companies that bid for the work. However, Angie's List already implied that their bid wouldn't be the lowest. Precision measuring went off without a hitch, no surprises along the way. When we decided on a date for the install, we were surprised that they would complete it in one day. They arrived around 9:00, and by 4:00 they were done, cleaned up, and gone. The guys were totally professional, polite, and they obviously knew what they were doing. After a couple weeks, we noticed that the sliders were sticking when we tried to close them. We called Procraft about the problem, and they sent out the Gem company rep. He literally dismantled the ends of the sliders and fixed the problem. Very impressed. We would do business with Procraft anytime. It was money very well spent.
