The windows they installed were a little more see through that we wanted. I wanted to change to opaque glass and Paul told me that was ridiculous. They never called me back to advise me any further. Now, when the window blows hard, the bathroom window whistles loud enough to wake me up from sleep.

Extremely cheesy salesman, went on and on for 30-45 minutes about all their glowing customer service surveys - binders and binders of them. Arg! I have to toddlers and very little free time and I really just wanted him to hurry up and give me a bid already - it was just two windows! He (eventually) quoted me $2K for 2 windows (one very large, one oddly shaped), and I felt like I had now invested 1.5 hours - or more - of my time with this guy AND as luck would have it, the "big discount" he could give me was "ending today" - so I had to sign then or not get the discount... (This was on a Wednesday, not at the end of the month or anything - kinda suspect, wouldn't you say?) Well, I fell for it and signed the bid. That night the bid came in from the other company - it was 70% of the cost of Procraft - even with all that big discounting that was "ending" that day. Thank GOD that there was a 3 day cancellation ( fine print on the back) on the contract. I called immediately the next morning and cancelled my order and went with the other guys. One BIG BIG BIG compliment I will give them - they were perfectly professional about my cancellation and kindly cancelled it without any hassle at all. I was a little prepared for a fight considering how cheesy/slick that salesman was. Thank goodness! I was just sick to think of spending $500-$600 more with them for the same work!

I asked a Procraft salesman to come to my house to prepare a bid to build a sunroom on our back porch. After we discussed that project in detail, I mentioned that we wished that one of the Milgard fixed picture windows in our masterbedroom could open for better ventilation. The window is a bit larger than any standard Milgard product. The salesman said he would contact Milgard to learn the price for a custom made window that could open. Sometime later, he called back to say that Milgard could not make a window that opened in that size, but Lindhal could. The Lindhal window would be wood, not vinyl, and would come primed from the factory so we would have to paint it. Procraft explained they would not paint the window, but could give us contact information for a painter who could. We have worked with Queen Anne Painting for many years, so said we could find our own painter. This window is on the 2nd story and overlooks a rock wall down to an alley, so it was a bit difficult to figure out how to install the window without renting some kind of trailer-mounted lift to do it. (the window is about 40 feet above the alley) We placed the order for the window in August. I was quoted a price of $22,000 for the sunroom, which we would have been happy to buy from Procraft if this project went well. This project went badly, however. in October we were notified the Lindhal window had finally arrived and we scheduled the installation. When the window and the installers arrived on 10/31, I realized for the first time the enormity of the painting job that would be involved. The Lindhal wooden window design was very different to the design of the Milgard vinyl windows that open that we in other places in our house. I tried to call somone in the Procraft office to complain, but the person I needed to speak to had gone home for the day. It was a huge production getting the window installed wihtout a lift. When the Queen Anne estimator came out in early November, he said it normally is possible to pop the window out of its frame to bring it inside for painting and gave me a quote of $300. We both agreed that it was hard to understand why Procraft had not given me the option of having the window painted before installation, as only minor touchup after installation would have been required. Several weeks later, the Queen Anne painter arrived, but even with my husband's help, was unable to get the window to pop out of the frame to bring inside. He painted what he could, and we agreed he would come back later to finish the parts he could not reach due to the 40 foot drop below the window. When I spoke to someone at Procraft to tell them about the problems we were having, the service manager actually told me that I should have been given the opportunity to paint the window in advance, and he didn't know why I hadn't been. Given that the window was installed in late October, this is even more maddening because Procraft knew how much painting would be involved, how difficult it is to reach the window from the outside, and how hard it is to paint anything outdoors in Seattle after September due to the rain. Several weeks after that, the Queen Anne painter returned and Procraft sent an installer to show him how to pop the window out of the frame and bring it inside. This small project was finally completed 4 months after we started. I paid $800 for the Lindhal window and wasted $325 on a paint job I could have done myself. Needless to say, I will not be ordering the $22,000 sunroom from Procraft.
Description of Work: Procraft had LIndhal manufacture a custom window that opened to replace a fixed Milgard window in our home that was not a standard size. The window was installed in our home, and we are happy the window. The Procraft customer service was terrible. We wasted $325 on a custom paint job that I could have done myself if only the window had been delivered to us before installation so it would already be painted when it was installed. I ordered the window in August, and the project was not completed until December due to poor service from Procraft.

This is the second time we've used Procraft to replace windows, but first time using Angie's List. Their saleman was very friendly and worked with us to get the right windows at the right price. When we pushed back he didn't become defensive, but worked with us for a "win-win" result. Everyone connected with the company, the person who came out to measure the windows, the installers, even to the owner of the company were courteous, friendly, professional, and provided a high quality product and installation. During the installation they found that the builders of our house had forgotten to install flashing above one of the windows being replaced (this caused some leakage inside the house around the window). The installed the flashing at no extra cost. One other thing Procraft does that none of the other contractors offered is that they hauled away the old windows we had replaced (at no extra cost I might add).

Prior to selecting windows I had signed on with a contractor who had already included installation of windows in his bid so I did not use Procraft to install the windows/doors. The selection and purchase of the windows/doors was my responsibility. I did explore other companies prior to selecting Procraft. Although Procraft had the most competitive bid my selection was made in large part by my initial contact with the product specialist. When I called for general information, she was the only rep in the office on what was apparently an unusually busy Saturday. At her first opportunity she returned my call and started providing the assistance I required in order to make final decisions. The windows and doors I selected were quality products; however they can be purchased from many businesses. The quality of service and competitive price is what made Procraft my choice of supplier plus the positive reviews I found on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Purchased 7 WoodClad Milgard windows and 3 Simpson doors from Procraft Industries. The window and door purchase was part of a major remodel to a 1918 home and I wanted to try and honor the original style of the home but keep the cost within budget. My positive experience with Procraft was due to the exceptional service provided by their product specialist, Eileen. She helped me review, price and select from the many options available from both the window and the door manufacturers. I had many, many questions on the styles of windows, the choices of textured glass and leaded glass. If a specific style or product was not available in their showroom, Eileen helped coordinate my visits to showrooms so I could see the product prior to making final decisions. Working with me and explaining the window features was very time consuming but Eileen was extremely patient and professional. She ensured all my questions were answered prior to the final order.

The salesman was very prompt, professional and courteous until contract was signed. Then any communication or response was hard to get. Installers were prompt and did good work and very upbeat until job was almost complete, when imperfections and further attention was needed to certain things the mood changed to "O I didn't see that." or "I forgot that." or "Almost, that's the best we can do." Far cry from salesman's promises. When one sash was noticed to be defective and salesman was called I was referred to job foreman who forgot to call in problem to Milgard. 3 weeks after he said he forgot and then put in work order. 3 weeks later Milgard, not Procraft replaced the faulty sash.

The installers were prompt and friendly; I was able to establish a rapport with them immediately. They were efficient and very professional. This is the fourth or fifth time I have had Procraft install windows for us and each time it is a very pleasant experience. Any problems that might occur are always handled well, they take care to clean up afterwards and the end result, this time as others, was wonderful.

I had wanted to replace old aluminum pane windows, with broken seals, for some time, but was overwhelmed with the prospect of choosing a manufacturer, installation, etc. Last year I talked with a supplier on the island and had several bids for installing windows, but I would have had to coordinate the project myself. I felt overwhelmed and did not find any guarantees offered by the contractors I spoke with. This year I consulted Angie's List, and found Procraft. They were great. They helped me decide on the window manufacturer and window design, and found a great deal on triple pane windows ( same price as double pane!) They accomodated my timeline and install date. They were responsive and flexible regarding a change in my order. They offered an Angie's list discount. I highly recommend them.

I had postponed replacing our poor quality and failing wood windows for several years as the estimates I had received for high end wood clad windows with true divided lights were so insanely expensive. As the old windows continued to deteriorate, I decided that a good quality window in a lower maintenance material with fewer bells and whistles would be a saner solution. I had used Procraft to replace windows in my last house and been quite happy with them and as they carried the Milgard windows that I was now considering, I was able to call them again. It was a good experience from start to finish. Our salesman, Lawrence, knows the lines he represents quite well and was able to do a thorough and organized job of explaining our options. He was also good enough to let us know that we would still get Procraft?s best rates while dividing the work into multiple stages. And the estimate I received for every window in the house was about half of what I?d been quoted for another line of windows. Sky took detailed measurements and oversaw all technical aspects of our installation, scheduling and follow-up. He was great about keeping in touch with me throughout the entire process and made sure that every little detail was well taken care of. Our installation team, Tim, Brian and Matt, was exceptional. They were always on time, if not early, put in solid work days, and left the site neat and clean and were always a pleasure to have in our home. Very little went wrong for a job of this size, only enough to make it perfectly clear that this is a company who will make it right before they wrap it up. When it?s time to replace the rest of my windows, I only have to make one call. I wish they did full kitchen remodels.

The sales person was very professional. There was no high pressure sale. I did a lot of research and took a couple weeks to make the final decision. They honored the Angie's discount and the senior citizen discount. It took 3 weeks to order the windows as expected. The crew that came to install did an excellent job. I did have trouble with 2 of the windows coming in the wrong size and the 2 doors did not make it with the initial order. They had to come back in a week to finish the job. They were very accomodating to meet my schedule to do the actual install. The clean up during the install was excellent and the installers finished the details very well. I was unhappy with the caulking around one of the windows (it was a little messy) and it was immediately fixed to my perfection. I really enjoyed the install crew. Also the installers did not see my specification that the trim around the windows be primed with white. They had already installed 3 windows when I asked about the white primer. They took down the trim and primed it white and reinstalled. They was not questions and then all the others were all primed before installations. Any concerns I had were handled immediately with no argumentgs.

Late but called to inform me of traffic was approximating 40 minutes late. Ended up being 70 minutes late. The Salesman showed up obviously rushed and frazzled. He fumbled with paperwork, which made the whole appointment awkward. He rushed into a sales presentation without letting me get word in edgewise to share the information I had about what we wanted. I had done my research and was very certain about the type of windows we want and work to be done. Nearly 30 minutes later, we finally got down to discussing what WE want. I appreciate the thought put into a presentation and that sales personnel are there to sell, but sometimes a customer is educated and knows what they want and just need to know the details of how much it will be to get it. He did not know much about the process of window installation and therefore could not address many of our questions. Features we asked for were left off the estimate, I did not call for a correct estimate since the cost was already well over what it should have been. We decided not to work with Procraft due to the high cost and lack of knowledge of what we wanted/needed. A note for the scheduler, it was very unfair he was scheduled in Redmond and had to come all the way to West Seattle during Friday evening rush-hour. Poor planning by the administrators. I do appreciate his determination to make the appointment, regardless of traffic.

It went very well from start to finish. Professional, non-pushy estimator, professional polite measurer, efficient and precise installation. When they realized that one of our picture windows was out of square (which the estimator had not noticed), they offered to re-do the frame and sills at cost. We had some trouble with some windows being too loose and some too tight. They came and fixed this promptly and expertly. Excellent job all around.

A representative from Procraft came to my home to look at the work that I needed to have done. The actual door was fine, but the seal on the side windows were no longer properly sealing resulting in moisture getting between the double panes. Since the windows are part of the complete door unit, I had to have it completely replaced, The representative discussed my options and I selected the style I preferred. He provided me a written quote for the work which I found reasonable after I had researched other companies. When the door unit was ready for installation, I was notified and we set a date for the work to be done. The man doing the work was on time, completed the work as described and I was happy both with the result of the work, but also the professionalism of the gentleman who came to my home to provide the estimate as well as the person who completed the actual work - all well done.

Description of Work: Procraft window installers John and Bobby replaced 4 windows (2 picture) 2 double-sash and a kitchen door. John was the journeyman and he actually was able to save the old facings which saved me money. His work is superior. Bobby the apprentice, was also incredible. HE VACUUMED the cobwebs and dusted my hutch!! As an occupational health nurse, I'm very attuned to worker health and safety and abatement compliance. They followed all appropriate hazard control and abatement measures. Both were neat and tidy and professional. Lawrence did the initial bid and measurements. He was courteous, friendly and professional. Great sense of humor. Josh came and did the "official"measurements and was the same. It has been a great experience. The wood windows look fabulous-Canadian pine? I have a 3 phase plan for window replacement and I will definitely use them for the other 2 phases. They were awesome. Karen
