Great. No service was done other than diagnosing the problem, they provided an appropriate referral and did not charge me anything.
Description of Work: I called Jim Dandy when my bathtub started filing up. When I called I was under the assumption that they did septic pumping as well as general plumbing. Turns out they do septic repairs, but not pumping. So when their guy showed up and said my tank was full and needed pumping, instead of charging me for the visit they referred me to a local company that does pumping and zeroed out their invoice for me. Most other companies would have charged me for a full hour. That's integrity in my book, and now I have Jim Dandy's card on my fridge for when I really do need a plumber :).

I love these guys. The have been out to our house 3 times to various repairs after we purchased our home. For the inspection, for the new toilet leak and for repairing items found to be below code after the inspection. Not only did they diagnose and repair the problem correctly, they also went into the crawl space to make sure that there wasn't damage to the subfloor. Luckily for us the water had been dripping down the pipe and making a small puddle under the house. I would hire this company again with no second thoughts. Love Love Love these guys!!!

Because it was a "stuck and inside the wall" situation, it was really tough to get at. The plumber tried a variety of tools and techniques to remove the stuck part. The more things that were tried and didn't work, the more he seemed to take it as a personal challenge to get the stuck part unstuck. I definitely admired his perseverance. He ended up putting a lot of time into it. I was with him the whole time, so I know that time was not wasted.

Kenny came out and was great! He told me it was probably my hair, which indeed it was. I have long hair and as much as I protect the tub drain with wire mesh from my long hair, it still gets there. Kenny educated me on other ideas I could do to better address the problem in the future, which I had no idea about before he arrived. Was in and out in less than an hour. Kenny was very professional, courteous and well mannered. I always appreciate Jim Dandy. They always bring out professionals, like Kenny that are polite, courteous and get the job done.

They did a fantastic job. Mike was able to determine that flushing the line would likely fix the issue. He also fixed a problem created when a different plumber tried to fix this issue previously. To fix the problem created by the first plumber, he had to get a new part, and come back a second time, which he did, on a Saturday. I am super happy with how everything turned out. My pressure issue was solved.

The technician estimated 2 hours over the phone, and was finished in 2 hours. He worked efficiently: first he replaced the water shut-off pipe; and while the solder was cooling off, he pressure-washed the outdoor drain, clearing the blockage. There were no problems whatsoever. A month later, there are no leaks, the shut-off valve works well, and the outdoor drain hasn't clogged since. I'm very happy with my experience.

Patrick was super helpful and took the time to explain everything we were seeing as he did the sewer scope. As he saw issues he communicated to me in what I interpreted as a super straightforward and honest way. I didn't feel like he was trying to scare me into giving them more business. For that reason, I immediately set up another appointment to have them come out and do an estimate on making some minor repairs. I will for sure use these guys again in the future.

They actually visited my home 3 times in the recent past: 1/ To clean back outside drain next to house. They cleaned the drain to the point where they could and gave me information on tree root invasion of the outgoing sewer line at the front of the house. Good job including information on a problem they discovered and options for addressing it. 2/ on 4/27/16: I had them come back to clean out other drains and fix a small leak in a bathroom pipe. They cleaned out 2 of the drains - good job. They assessed that a 3rd drain dead ends. For pipe leak, they noted that toilet needed to be replaced as part the work - clearly explained why. 3/ on 4/20/16 and 5/2/16: came back to install new toilet. Good job including arranging for quick return appt on Mon 5/2 to complete install when original toilet I provided from Lowe's on Sat was broken
Description of Work: Install new toilet. He needed to make a return visit to finish the work because the new toilet I got from Lowe's was broken in the package. Otherwise, overall charge would have been closer to $300.

Starting on April 5, I started to contact the company through Angies List, describing the problem and desired work in detail. Despite having all the information they needed to make an appointment, the told me to call them. I explained that I work M-F, 8-5 in an office where I am unable to make or take personal calls and asked that we communicate through email. Garrett initially agreed to do so, but stopped responding to my messages after two weeks. So, realizing that they had Saturday hours, I made a point of CALLING them on Saturday when I was at home since my toilet--the only one in the house--has been leaking all this time. I got their rep Morgan live on the phone, but instead of making an appointment for me, to my great frustration, he advised he'd have someone call me on Monday. Again, I explained my dilemma about not being able to take a call during business hours and asking for communication by email. Morgan stated that they "just don't do that." No explanation as to why, in the 21st century, that wasn't possible. I asked if they could at least text me if they had to use a phone. He said he'd ask, but they generally don't do that. Again, no explanation as to why this is an issue. Today, Monday, I'm here at work with a recorded voice mail message from Garrett saying to give them a call and they'll set something up. Really? I've asked 3-4 times over the course of three weeks for flexibility in setting up this appointment by means other than a live phone call. Surely I can't be the only client (or potential client) whose work situation makes it impossible to discuss plumbing issues on the telephone. The ultimate frustration is that this appointment might not have even been necessary had they given me the opportunity to discuss options for fixing the problem in the first place. Abysmal communication and poor customer service.
Description of Work: A couple of years ago my toilet began leaking from the base. Their technician came out and went to work. Afterward, he told me he had considered two choices: to do the expensive thing (resetting the flange) or try a less expensive option (double the wax rings). He made the decision to do the latter. I would have loved to have had the chance to weigh in on this decision, but was not given the opportunity. Needless to say, more than a year later, I now have the same problem. I've attempted to contact Jim Dandy to come out now to do the more expensive but more permanent fix, and have gotten no where.

I have reached out to the service provider and have had no success with them. They told me the leak was in my foundation, but that isn't the case. I went and got another company after they stood me up! I believe they also charged me to get a city permit. They also charged me for jetting that they didn't perform. I asked for a copy of a signed permit from the city, and have heard nothing back. They did put an access to my sewer line outside. Still hasn't fixed my leak.

Response from Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing
Unfortunately, our attempts to contact [Member Name Removed] to resolve this matter have been unsuccessful. We have reached out several times by phone, and left repeated voice mails. Additionally we attempted to resolve this issue by mail. In a final attempt to resolve this matter our General Manager stopped by the home to drop off a refund check. However we have been unable to have any direct contact with this customer. We recognize that disputes can occur and we have made every effort available to us to find an amicable solution this problem. Without having an opportunity to speak with the customer directly we are unable to do anything to address her concerns and can only do what we can to protect our reputation as an outstanding locally owned plumbing business with over 100 years serving the greater Seattle area. Our technicians are trained plumbers and not sales people working on commission. We take pride in providing honest and fair pricing. Homeowners should understand that plumbing estimates are just that, estimates, based on our understanding of the problem at the time of the estimate. Often times more work is required to fully resolve a plumbing issue and we cannot know that until we begin work on the problem and uncover the source of the problem. We continue to extend our refund to [Member Name Removed] and will gladly provide it, when she is prepared to speak with us directly.
The first young man walked into my bathroom, snaked a camera a few feet and said nothing could be seen. Spent a great deal of time on his cell phone and left saying next employee will help. Second young man snaked a camera down a roof vent and said nothing could be seen. Used a device to locate the property side sewer line and marked paint on a spot 2 feet from the City's main sewer?! Wrote of a bid/quote for $5,300.00 to install a cleanout in that spot and clean the line. Couldn't print anything out so I had to look at a cell phone screen. Encouraged me to open a line of credit with a company called Green Sky. This quote did not include any actual plumbing inside the house - which was going to be a separate plumber and another bill. After a couple of hours had passed and conversations with family and neighbors led me to believed this was an incredibly excessive amount and I should stop and reconsider. So I called and said Stop, Don't Come. And was told that I'd be charged $500.00 penalty because they were "just around the corner". That means I will have paid $745.00 for snaking a camera down a vent. Does this seem excessive? VIOLATED FINANCIALLY. Oh, and I still have to find a plumber and fix my toilet and unclog sewer.
Description of Work: Sewage backing up into bathtub. I removed my toilet and found a shaky old lead pipe and called for a plumber visit. This provider snaked a camera down my toilet drain and roof vent. Had many long conversations on cell phone, walked around my backyard, lifted a shovel and sprayed some paint.

Everything went well! perfect I would say! I got a $1500.00 job done for a little less then $500.00. his work was very clean and he was quiete and very cheerful and nice with my Kids. My Girls who my mom watches are always running around her house and can get a little Krazy sometimes and I felt like they were bugging him but he didn't mind and still got the job done within a day! If you need any plumbing done make sure to call them! They are G-R-E-A-T!
Description of Work: My Mothers toilet has never ever worked great at all, every time you have to flush any toilet paper down there it was clogging and I could not afford to purchase another toilet for $1000.00 this price including installation and everything of course since I'm not capable of doing this myself! I called Jim and guess what! After looking at my Mothes Thing Lol He said it needed to be replaced but there was good news! He had a basically brand new Toilet a customer decided to not have installed into his home but Jim ended up taking the hit for it since he had purchased it for the job. We settled on a price of $250.00 for the toilet plus labor This was a $1,000.00 toilet with a doosh included just like my mothers I couldn't be happier. I feel like I could flush my plunger down there that was basically my best friend before him out in this brand new machine!

I always dread of calling a plumber because of a nasty experience i had with Beacon a few years back. When we started noticing wet patches in the ceiling, we called Jim Dandy based on Angie's List and am i glad we called them... They responded immediately, sent a person, Sam, the same day. Sam was extremely polite, courteous, experienced and found out the issue immediately. He worked at lightning speed [given the charges were based on time, and in such cases, i have seen people dragging out their work], did a phenomenal job and cleaned up after himself. And when he gave me the bill, it was extremely reasonable... Price, Quality and Value for Money with high professionalism. Absolutely the best guys in business...

The initial contact with provider went well. Joe Hicks was the plumber that was sent out and he seemed to be confident about his knowledge and capabilities with providing me the services required. Since the drains were original, a quick fix of the leak was not possible. Joe correctly estimated that the entire drain system of the bathroom would need replacing. The day the work was to be done, again it seemed that Joe had it all under control given his confidence, Joe assessed what parts he needed and went to purchase them, given the late time he ended his day. He constantly promised that the job would be done in two days. On the second day Joe called to inform me that he had an emergency call and he would be at the house by noon to continue and finish the work. He mentioned having a master plumber coming to help him. When Joe arrived he began dismantling all of the old drain, thinking he will be able to finish the job in only a few hours. When the master plumber arrived Joe received a wake up call. His assessment was that there was no way the job would be done that day. My only bathroom was now out of service - wait for it - for THREE DAYS! Thanks to Joe's overconfidence and lack of knowledge about old homes and/or how long jobs like these take, I was greatly inconvenienced. Luckily, I was between tenants and my downstairs apartment bathroom was available. If not, then I would have had to stay in a hotel. The job was done three days later, but what became a comedy of errors ensued. The master plumber felt bad so he bought me a new toilet that purportedly "fit" better than my old toilet given some work they had to do to the flange. That toilet was too big (it went into the open wall where they had to do some drain vent work). Two toilets later (I paid for them) we found one that fit. A big kudos to the master plumber Dave, who insisted on coming out on a Saturday to install our new best fitting toilet and who seemed to be the only one at Jim Dandy with any knowledge of plumbing and customer service! Then the billing came. Joe promised I wouldn't pay more than the bid he gave me. I received one bill - before the work was even finished - from the first day of work, but after a week and a half, never received a bill for the total job. I mentioned this to Dave when he came out to install the new toilet and take the one they bought me away. He said he would take care of it and honor a request I made of a 15% discount (a mention of 5% discount was the only offer I had received). I did receive an invoice for the entire job, finally, but then I saw that they didn't cancel the first bill. I now owed them more than the original bid. This happened the first week of Dec. 2015. After a call to the accountant who promised he would get back to me - which he didn't - I emailed Dave and a couple of other Jim Dandy emails I had. Thanks to Dave, he cleared up the mess that Jim Dandy created. I awaited a new bill but nothing came. On December 31st, wanting to pay this off in 2015, I called back Jim Dandy and asked to speak with accounting, that I had a bill to pay. The guy, with whom I spoke with 3 weeks prior, acted as if nothing was wrong, quoted me the correct amount and I paid my bill. I will hesitate to recommend Jim Dandy to anyone - or use them again as a plumber. I went with them because I thought I was supporting a small, local business, but the way the job was handled gives me pause to use again.
Description of Work: The provider was asked to fix a leak in the drain of the bathroom in the upstairs apartment of a 100 year old duplex.
