Response from Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing
Mr. [Member Name Removed] contracted with us to replace the sewer line from the North side of the home to the South West corner of the property, additionally he asked that we we replace the water service from the house to the meter. Prior to beginning work the [Member Name Removed]'s removed all the grass in the yard which unfortunately caused mud slides to form. These slides filled the trenches we dug for the excavation. Our bid did not account for this as the yard was in tact when we submitted the estimate. The slides delayed the project and required additional work on the part of our crew. Additionally, we did inform Mr. [Member Name Removed] prior to beginning work that there was a possibility that water and sewer services may be unavailable for a period of time. This is standard when performing major excavations to sewer and waterlines and sometimes cannot be avoided. We make every effort to provide accurate estimates based on the scope of work that we can see prior to beginning a project. Since buried pipe prevent us from knowing exact outcomes we inform customers, via our contracts, that estimates are just that, estimates made in good faith. Once the actual work begins and we discover complications we have to cover the cost to make those repairs. Regarding the damage done to the driveway, Mr. [Member Name Removed] spoke with our supervisor and told him he was planning on replacing the driveway after all the work was completed because it was in poor condition. Mr. [Member Name Removed] then complained that we damaged his driveway although it has since been replaced as he said it would be. We believe we exceeded the terms of this contract by not only performing the work requested but by also installing a water service that exceeded city code at no extra charge to Mr. [Member Name Removed]. We stand by our work and are committed to maintaining our over 100 year reputation as an excellent locally owned sewer and plumbing contractor.
