Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing

Needless to say I was disappointed that the first crew couldn't fix the problem on the 5th, a Friday afternoon. It turned out this crew was pipe cleaners, not truly plumbers. They worked hard from the roof vent to reach the plug but in vain. The "master" tried also to use a snake from inside but found the stoppage probably was below the point where the pipes connected and the snake would not turn into that main pipe but went across the connection. They left after appr. 2 hours and I was unhappy to pay for an unfinished job. I was not available until the following Tuesday and then Jim Dandy sent out Ryan to cut the wall and the pipe. He was an INCREDIBLE plummer as he was fast, kept the place clean, and pleasant to work with. The disappointment from the first meeting disappeared as it went so smooth and fast this time. I was also truly surprised and excited when he presented the bill, he had lowered his own price as I had had to pay previously for unfinished business. Jim Dandy's service and fairness was truly impressive! I recommend them highly!

Great and professional service. Shawn was terrific. Even though there had been a small glitch in scheduling for our appointment, everyone in the office made it right by sending Shawn out on Saturday. Problem was fixed immediately and the whole process was painless. Great prices, great service and we will definitely use Jim Dandy again. Thank you.

Tho I am still cleaning up dirt in the basement, and smoothing out dirt on the lawn, the project was very sucessful. (They actually did do a nice job of cleaning up after the project, but dirt is dirt....)What I appreciate most about the team at Jim Dandy is their "can do" attitude, and willingness to look at all aspects of the project. They consider all (and often very creative!) options... not just standard proceedure. I felt that my voice was heard, and things that were important to me were considered. I interviewed many companies and got many estimates, as this was an enormous project. Most of the other companies did not give me "full estimates" for the complete job. Jim Dandy did, and tho it was staggering, they were very helpful in arranging and agreeing to some "creative financing". This was not the first project they have done for me... I was happy to have them back again, and they stand behind their work. I hope I DON'T have to see them again for a long time, now, as I think they have replaced and fixed every possible pipe in my whole house, but when I need to call somebody again, it will always and only be Jim Dandy!

Called with sink problem and asked for an estimate of cost for fixing it. I was transferred to a plumber who proceeded to tell me how I might be able to fix the problem myself as it was a potentially simple fix. He actually said, "I would hate to see you spend $159 for a service call when you can probably fix it for free." His fix worked so I now have a functioning sink faucet again free of charge. Thank you Jim Dandy!! I will definitely use them first for any plumbing repairs or drain cleaning in the future.

I've used Jim Dandy multiple times for this process. (85 year old house with old sewer line and lots of trees around) Each time, the plumber has arrived within the specified time window and completed the service exactly as requested. They have also offered useful advice on occasion and are always professional in their demeanor.

I discussed this work with several plumbing and excavating companies. Jim Dandy responded immediately with an extremely knowledgeable project manager on site who submitted a complete design and bid in three days. In the meantime all I heard from the other companies was what they couldn't do. I selected his bid, we had a successful contract negotiation, and I signed the contract. This work involved extensive excavation so I was concerned about getting the work completed during a window of good weather. They had a crew on site and digging the following week. They were completed and buttoned up in less than the eight days allowed in the contract schedule. The waterproofing was provided by another contractor that I hired. I requested a tight schedule to get this work done without slowing the drain work. Jim Dandy coordinated and cooperated with my waterproofer to keep the whole job on schedule. They had between two and five men on site at a time. They all were extremely professional and they all had a refined sense of customer service. They were all respectful to my needs as owner. The excavation disturbed my existing irrigation system, but these guys marked and capped the broken lines, so when my irrigation guy came to relace the sprinklers and valves he wasted no time in locating what he needed. I am a retired architect and have worked with all kinks of contractors over 40 years. These guys are real pros!

He was good but expensive. He was pleasant to work with. He did a good job. He explained everything he was doing.

We were quickly contacted after my initial inquiry about getting the leak fixed, and scheduled an appointment the next morning. After about an hour's efforts to fix the faucet, we were advised that it would be better to replace the fuacet as the leak was in a bad spot that could not be repaired. The plumber then gave us the option of picking up a replacement faucet oureselves or he could get one. He also told us, some options in terms of style of fuacet to get as a good replacement. We chose to buy our own, and scheduled another appointment to install the new faucet in less than a week. The installation was done quickly and at the appointed time. Overall, we are very happy with the work done. However, it did turn out to be an expensive leak repair with two appointments (approx. 2.5 hrs total) and the cost of a new faucet.

Due to miscommunications Jim Dandy sent a sewer tech instead of a plumber for our job. When I let them know that the work had to be done that day, they pulled one of their best off of his job and sent him right over. He finished the work quickly and and cleanly, and we paid less than others would charge for labor alone. Thanks.

Got an estimate with Larry. He was very professional and helpful; he even made suggestions of what we could take care of ourselves to save $. The guy who came out to do the actual work (sorry I don't remember his name) was pleasant and did good work. We are very happy with all the work done and the price, we will continues to use their services and recommend them.

Absolutely brilliant company! I had low hot water pressure in my kitchen faucet, which had been a continuing problem since it had been installed (but not prior to that). Twice previously, I'd called the plumber/company who'd installed it, and they kept not being able to fix it, and then they told me I had "galvanized pipes" and that all the pipes in my building needed to be replaced. So instead I called Jim Dandy and, as my service experiences detail, had a quick solution. The plumber was courteous, punctual, and cleaned up after himself. And, the Angie's List discount was already notated on the paperwork, so I saved money. The other thing that spoke volumes to me was what the plumber had to say--he said he genuinely liked working for the company, that he felt it was like working for a family. Based on my experiences, I would have no hesitation on recommending this company. I'm going to have them back soon to drain my hot water heater. Let me tell you, I don't usually rave about these types of services.

I was relieved to learn that I had perhaps the cleanest, clearest, most intact sewer connection in town. Given that the home was originally built in about 1904 and remodeled some 60 years later after a fire, I was delighted to cross "sewer connection" off my list of things to worry about. I winced at the cost of good news, but I watched the process, trust the result, and was impressed with the service provider.

All went well. I'd use them again.

They came out an hour early. I measured the pipe, checked the water meter, went down in my basement where it would be hooked up and got the estimate from them. The estimate was extremely high; so I had to move on. He was good, polite and knew what he was doing but the price was high. He got here early, answered all my questions and even answered questions I hadn't even asked. He was very knowledgeable. He was a company man and spoke for the company. He told me what was going to happen and how it was going to happen. He knew his business.

I came home at 2 PM to a puddle on the floor of the kitchen under the dishwasher - I figured it was a blocked drain line I called Jim Dandy and within an hour they were at the house. The receptionist (Jodie) on the phone was great! Very professional and helpful. The service man (Jon) came out and looked it over - took out the washer and worked on it. He told me that the drain was fine and showed me where the washer was leaking and advised me to call a appliance repairman. Every person along the way with Jim Dandy was great!

They were prompt, responsive and fixed the problem. They did the job and they were professional. I usually do the work myself if I have the time. I wouldn't be able to comment on their price, as I didn't shop around much. The quality of their work was good, as they opened the drain. They were punctual, as they used to come out every time whenever we used to call them to get the work done.

NO one likes to spend money on something that you will never see or be able show your friends. B*** when those friends come over and the plumbing works the way it is suppose to!!!!!!! Do find some that is experienced in the service you need. Don?t go for the guy with the big adds in the book. You are the one paying for the add.

I called to see if I could get an appointment in the next few days, but got one the same afternoon, which was great. Person on the phone was very friendly and efficient. The plumber came in the time slot given by the scheduler. After telling me the cost of the toilet part and the time it would take him to install it, he replaced it and had me check it to see it met my expectations. Since they charge a minimum fee to come to the house, I had them do sewer maintenance too as sometimes roots block my sewer and back it up. He quickly snaked the sewer. No major roots were found, just smaller ones, but the maintenance is now done for a few years. He was very friendly and professional-got to his tasks but was also personable. Used my Angie's List coupon too-no questions asked!

I found Jim Dandy on the BBB site. They were friendly and professional from start to finish. They responded to my call very quickly, and were very thorough in checking the problem. They were on time and worked hard each day. They were also flexible about scope of work; I had to change scope for (2) and Chris understood and was very flexible. Every person I spoke with was respectful and friendly. The only reason for a "B" is that the clean up was good, but not excellent. I don't consider that a big hiccup. NOTE: I had another company come by for problem (1); not only did they mis-diagnose the problem, but they were going to charge me nearly $2,000 more than Jim Dandy. I would have ended up paying a bundle and the problem would have still been there!

I would consider them in the future for another job.

My main drain was clogged, causing water buildup on my basement floor. The technician came out and used a hydraulic tool to unclog it, took a video of the sewer line out to the street, and gave me suggestions of what I would have to do in the future to correct the problem.

The actual service done was fine. My sewer pipe was video taped and my drain was cleared. The plumber, Gary, was very nice. Scheduled to arrive between 3-5 pm and arrived around 5:20. The problem arose the day after when we discovered that our basement bathroom toilet wasn't flushing properly. Two days later we noticed a bad smell and discovered that both the sewer pump and alarm, with a dedicated plug-in, had been unplugged. The sewer tank had overflowed and provided a lovely aroma. Apparently the plumbers unplugged the pump and alarm when accessing the sewer, which makes sense, but forgot to plug them back in. We believe it was an honest mistake. However, the alarm sounded when we plugged it back in. Called the office in search for a solution to this problem. I talked with Larry and explained what had happened. He claimed that his people would never do that and if they did they would have told him. I guess he assumed that we caused the problem and were trying to get free services. I'm not really sure. All I wanted was to get the alarm working so if we had another overflow we would be alerted. I wasn't argumentative nor even trying to get my bill reduced though maybe I should have. Larry was very defensive and argumentative. He wanted to charge me to come out and fix the alarm. He finally gave me a suggested fix, which worked. Larry never apologized that our tank flooded and made a mess. In the end, while the plumbers left the pump and alarm unplugged, which we believe was an honest mistake, we wouldn't call this company again because of the attitude in dealing with the aftermath of what happened. The part of the service was not professional. A simple apology would have gone a long way.
