 + 0 moreThe overall job came out so well and the experience was very good to have a company help us out in our hour of need, and without taking advantage of us. The service was excellent and the price fair for the amount of work they had to do and on top of that the workmen Mike and Ryan were very professional and the estimator Cody was top notch.
Description of Work: Sewer Repairs/Replacement: The call I made to Jim Dandy plumbing was one of the best calls I have made to a service provider. Cody the estimator called me to advise that he was running late due to traffic, but would be here to give me an estimate for replacing my side sewer. He came in and wanted to see what was going on with my side sewer, he offered to send down a camera to see what was going on and to see if I needed to replace me side sewer on my house. He tried to send down the camera and it would only go so far and he determined that my side sewer was blocked and not working. He asked me some questions and I advised that I had another plumber come out and fix the problem but it was only a temporary solution and that I had gotten some other bids on replacing my side sewer. He measured the side sewer out and I told him I also had a connection from the detached garage and showed him where it tied into the main sewer. He wanted to do some figuring for me and he was ready to come back with a bid as it was considered an emergency as the side sewer was not working. He came back with a bid to dig up the entire line and also advised that they could do a replacement if they could get the line cleared for them to do a pipe lining replacement without digging. I wanted to know more about this option and Cody was very easy to talk with and answered all my questions. He was ready to give me a bid and I showed him some other bids and he not only matched the lowest bid he beat it and offered to start the next day. Wow! This was what I needed to get back into service and be able to get this done ASAP! The next day they came out and started to dig by hand to see what they could do and were very careful to cut out the lawn and placed plastic down to put the grass and dirt on. The temporary fix was completed for the night and they had determined that the line was crushed and they would come out the next morning to replace the rest. The next morning Mike and Ryan came out and started to dig the line out by hand again taking care to cut out the sod and place all the dirt and grass on the plastic sheeting. They determined that the first half would need to be dug up and replaced, however the other half they were able to clean out and were going to be able to replace without digging it up and to replace by shooting in a plastic pipe sleeve (pipe lining). The work was completed and the grass was placed back into position and the final job area looks very good. They even gave me a video of the before and after of the side sewer pipe. The entire Jim Dandy plumbing crew was very professional and they cleaned up their work area. Cody, Mike and Ryan were all very nice and made my wife and myself very comfortable with their work and that they were not cutting any corners to may sure that our replacement was completed in the shortest amount of time possible.

 + 0 moreWe called Jim Dandy because of referral on Angie's List. The technician Jamal was on time, and found the issue by putting a camera down the pipe. It ended up being more than a blockage but 2 pipes that were not connected. Jamal dug down and repaired the pipe. Everything was put back in good order and everything is back to normal. I was glad I chose this company.

He recommended running the camera down the line to have a record of the condition of the line. We followed his recommendation and everything looked good. Carl was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The best plumber ever! We wouldn't hesitate to use this service again.

Snaked one portion of the line 2x, until no roots came up with the second go-around. Like the man said 'to leave you with peace of mind'. And it does!

 + 0 moreI set up an appointment for a sewer scope on Friday with a window of 3:00 - 5:00. The plumber did not show up so I called the office at 5:00. No explanation or apology was given. They simply rescheduled the appointment for the next day. On Saturday, the plumber showed up early and performed the work quickly. The video footage of the sewer scope was available on Wednesday. Although it was a rocky start, we were pleased with their efficiency in the end.

 + -1 moreCalled them on the Tuesday morning and Derek was there just after 2pm same day. His experince showed as he was able to diagnose the issue quickly. I went to Home Depot and bought a new fittinh and he installed it. Problem solved.
Description of Work: We had a leak from an upstairs bathroom. We thought it was a drain but he did some simple troubleshooting and worked out that is was a broken shower fitting redirecting the water. Replaced the shower fitting and fixed the problem easyly and quickly.

Description of Work: Jamal Street was amazing, helpful and quick. My main line was backed up and cleared quickly with the right equip. I had water backed up and this was cleared so quickly. Very pleasant, no upsell just took care of this. I explained what I needed, he listened and said it was probabaly some roots in my main line 110 feet to street. Cleared at 30 feet fast. He noted will send me a reminder for annual maintenance.

 + -1 moreI am 100% satisfied with every facet of the experience working with Jim Dandy. The first phone call, where they carefully explained their services, charges and time frame was helpful. The day of the job, the employee, Jon, called 30 minutes in advance to let me know when he would arrive and then, once at the house, listened carefully as I explained the problems that needed to be addressed. He did not start his "time clock" until after we had agreed on the work to be done. Jon was experienced, personable, and professional and explained everything to me as he finished each project. He was able to fix two items that other people had said were not "fixable". I am definitely keeping Jim Dandy on my "first call" list; they exceeded my expectations!

 + -1 moreI called the shop and they were going to send someone out that day. They called back later to say they were running late and could they come in the morning. No problem, as it was not an urgent matter. The gentleman came out bight and early the next day, took apart the shower and identified the problem. He went to the distribution center right then and came back. The part needed to be ordered but while he had been waiting he cleaned our original part and when he came back, reinstalled it. It worked! This saved us money and we have our hot water back! Plus we can order the part ourself (again saving us money) if this current part does not last. He was very helpful and had our best interest at heart.
Description of Work: A part to our shower water heater was not working properly so we had only "warm" water coming out of the shower head. He took the piece apart and identified the problem, went that day to get the part and returned in a couple of hours and fixed the shower. The best part was that he found he had to order the part from the distributor but managed to work with the existing part to get it to work. The result was identification of the part (for future reference and so we could order it ourselves, saving us money) and hot water in our shower once again.

 + 0 moreI called first thing in the morning and they met me at the house in the late morning hours. Their employee knew exactly how to fix the problem and had the right equipment to do so. It was fixed in about 1/2 hour or so.
Description of Work: We had a storm drain in our driveway back-up during a heavy rainstorm. Jim Dandy was able to come out the same day and un-clog the drain. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly they were able to respond and the reasonable cost.

Though I had pretty accurately diagnosed the leaking faucet, I didn't want to deal with identifying, ordering and waiting for the exact part for this older item. Also, it often takes a professional to catch anything not so obvious - and to provide advice beyond the immediate fix. Derek quickly found an appropriate replacement part from his supplies and made a complete repair. Making the appointment was easy by phone on a Friday afternoon. It took less than an hour for Derek to arrive and get to work. The pricing was clearly explained before I made an appointment and an Angie's List coupon was gladly accepted when I paid. This kept the cost lower than I expected. I was totally satisfied with Derek's candor about the quality of this particular faucet (they suffer from many problems, but I got lucky with just the O-ring at issue this time), his attention to the work, and his friendly attitude. Easy to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Fixing a leaky pull-out kitchen faucet with replacement of rubber O-ring and troubleshooting under sink for any additional trouble.

Description of Work: Faucet in bathtub failed. Couldn't turn off water. Plumber was able to turn off water at the site of the bathtub, but was not available to fix it because he didn't have the part. After 2-3 weeks of waiting for the part, I called again to find out that "yeah, that part is on back order. I was meaning to call you." When I hire work to be done, I want responsiveness and professionalism. I got neither from Jim Dandy. I am disappointed and will move on to another plumber.

 + -1 moreWe had drainage line blockage. They came very quickly and the technician was couteous. However, they did not try jet first. They used only snake and could not solve the problem. They charged us $570 for 2 and half hour work without solving the problem. They said they will have their estimater contact us to make a new drainage line, but I can gess that most likely they will over charge, I looked up other plumbing companies about this and I was told that they charge $500 for jetting for 2 and half hours . Anothe company said they would charge $300 only. By that $570 for snaking seems to be too expensive especially when they did not fix the problem. Moreover, we still do not know where the blockage is. Note: This was one man job ( 2 hr work + half hour clean up of his equipment and writing up the bill). They charged me for 3 hours. Their rate seems to be $175/hour per one worker.

 + -1 moreI called yesterday to make an appointment for an garbage disposer and faucet install. We made the appointment for 3-5pm today. I took off the afternoon from work so that I would be on time. At 3pm I called to confirm and Bob told me it would be closer to 5pm At 5pm I got a call from Bob saying it would be 6:30. At 6:30 I finally called. All the number listed said it was closed and after hours. I got a call back saying sorry but we don't have anyone make the appointment. Then at 7pm the installer showed up. Even though it ended up being 9pm before he was finished he did a nice job of the install and the gentleman was very nice and professional.

He quickly unplugged the toilet and made suggestions what to do with it. I probably follow his suggestion to buy a more powerful toilet.

 + 1 moreJim Dandy was great to work with and gave us an approximate charge before they came out (they were right on). Then Jon came out last night and was very kind, professional, and got right to work after we discussed the issues. He brought his rooting machine into the back yard, used the in/out put in previously, and quickly rooted my sewer line and cleared the roots. He was very nice and thorough in explaining my options for repairing this pipe in my neighbor's yard. Jon was knowledgeable, and helpful, but did not pressure me at all to spend more or do more work than what I asked for. I ran my washing machine last night and no back up. Perfect!! Jon also installed a new cap for my in/out, one that is pressure regulated, so if I have a back up again, it will back up in my backyard instead of my house. AWESOME!! Thank you, Jon and Jim Dandy. I have already recommended you to others and will continue to do so. I will definitely be using your company again, although I hope not too soon. ;~)

 + -1 moreThis was actually a couple of tickets, rather than just one, but all went quite well. The installation of the hot water was done quickly, professionally and had one glitch. The initial feed through the point-of service both up and down caused some cross-flow. However, they were very quick to return and straighten this out without charge. The work was all done quickly, both faster and more reliably than I could have done myself (as a former handyman). I was very pleased with the main hot water repair. Their tech spend a couple of hours on the phone with the vendor, and secured repair for me under warrantee (I ended up not having to pay for parts). The cost as a result was a fraction of what I had originally anticipated - just his labor. One thing that I liked that set them apart is that they were very willing to work creatively with me at identifying and working out possible alternative options to problems. This minimized both my cost and the overall work required to do what I needed done.
Description of Work: Installing two point-of-service hot water heaters, removing some existing corroded cast-iron hot water feed pipe, repair of an on-demand gas hot water heater. Install a new kitchen faucet.

 + -1 moreLast spring I noticed water coming through our family room ceiling from our master bath while my cleaning person was cleaning our bathroom. Called Jim Dandy Plumbing. They came out, tried to recreate the leak to find out if it was from the soaking tub or shower, but were unable to find it. He suggested several things we could try, since we weren't ready to open up the ceiling yet. It stopped leaking over the summer, but then we noticed a problem in the fall. Called Jim Dandy again and they scheduled their visit to be here while my cleaning person was working on the bath. In the end they put two small holes in the family room ceiling and inserted a camera to look around. Water started gushing out at this point, and we knew it was from the shower. Upstairs, he put two holes in the back wall of our closet that backed onto the shower head wall. Found that my cleaning person was directing the water from the rainfall showerhead onto the faucet handle while she was rinsing the shower. He removed the faucet so we could dry out the wall. A couple days later, they came back to reinstall the faucet and give it a good caulking. We dealt with several people at Jim Dandy, and were very impressed with each one. They were friendly, courteous, professional, and on time. Their prices were very reasonable, considering how much time was involved and how many service calls they made to figure this out. We recommended them to our neighbors when they needed a plumber, and they were very pleased with them, also.

 + -1 moreUpstairs bathroom wasn't draining quickly and the overflow drain in the basement floor was backing up and pooling water all over. Big mess on the carpet and floorboards. We called that Thurs. night and got a call back the next day for an appointment on Saturday. Very pleased with the speed of the service, and no extra charge for Saturday. They found the plug in a tributary drain pipe, not the main sewer, and waterjetted the heck out of it. Had come from the roof and jetted the thing like 5 times. He also scoped it with a camera and showed me a before and after video of the plugged pipe so I could see what he did. Overall, I couldn't have been more happy with Jim Dandy. The guy that came out (sorry I forgot your name, but I hope you still get your coffee card) was a real good dude, professional, and worked with me on the price. I don't have a single bad thing to say about these guys, I highly recommend them!
