Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing

On the morning of 8/21, when I used the toilet and flushed, water rose to the brim of the bowl and also backed up in the shower--along with some sediment. I tried flushing a few more times but the same thing happened each time. I went online to Dick's Angie's List account and found a highly rated plumbing company. However, when I called, I was told that the earliest they could have a plumber come out to the house was Monday (5 days away). I was panicked because Dick was out of town and would be back Sunday evening. Meanwhile, I'd be there without a working bathroom; by Monday both of us would be without a working toilet or shower. Next I called Jim Dandy which said they'd get a plumber to the house that afternoon. As promised, a plumber arrived on time and set to work to scope out the problem. He was quite polite and hard-working. After his initial assessment, he said that he and a supervisor would come out later in the afternoon to confirm the steps to replace the failed pipes. Both men returned several hours later. Altogether, there were 4 teams which came out to remove and replace the broken lines. I was impressed with the knowledge, hard work, and considerate behavior of the plumbers. Dick returned home on Sunday evening and was there when the final team of 2 plumbers completed the work on Monday morning. He was also impressed with their competence and consideration. My only suggested improvement would be for Jim Dandy to be more clear about whether or not I needed to remain at home waiting for the next set of plumbers to get there. Also in one case, there was a delay due to the need to replace a number of batteries in one instrument. Since the plumber didn't have extra batteries, we had to wait for someone else to bring them out. On the whole, however, Jim Dandy's response and service were outstanding.

This project turned out to be more than I planned to spend, but am very glad to have gone with these guys. Especially working with Ryan who was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process. They've got an ugly job but they did it with grace and were upbeat. Ryan even came back after I had finished drywalling to install the half turns and set the toilet. Above and beyond he also helped me hook up my new bath drain when he didn't have any obligation to. Definitely go with these guys.

WOW! These guys are GREAT. Had a plugged sewer line so I called them on Saturday morning. A real person answered the phone. They came out at the scheduled time. The Guy worked VERY hard, but found a break in our line. We were having a dinner party that same night, now were in panic mode! Their estimator came right out, explained what needed to be done while going over the video they took. The price was extremely fair and he was able to get a crew on site within the hour to make sure we would be in service for our party. They got us up and running, and cleaned up the area as much as possible, even though they had to come back for final work and inspection on Monday. The guy's doing the repair worked their butts off for us and seemed to really like their work and the company they worked for. My neighbor gave me the recommendation and said he only uses them for all of his properties. Man that was a great referral! I have several properties as well and have had sketchy service from other companies. I now have a great plumbing company to use, and I know I will be treated honestly and fairly. From start to finish these guys were fantastic! I see why they are rated so highly!

The old faucets were difficult to get off, but they did it! They replaced them with brand new faucets, but we had a few difficulties with leaks and needed them to come back again to fix it. It wasn't a problem, they had someone come the next day at no extra charge. I would definitely use them again.

I explained that I wanted to understand if there was a blockage, how it could be removed and about how much that might cost. I did not want to spend a tremendous amount of money on the assessment portion of the possible project. The technician fed a cable into the drain, fed a camera through the line and then started running water into the drain to assess the flow. When putting the cable into the drain, the cable broke through some debris. By the time the hose water flowed into the drain, all of the water was draining. I could also watch it draining on his camera screen. The whole process took about 30 mins and my problem was solved. The tech was on time, courteous, friendly, responsible and addressed all of my questions. I will definitely call them again for any plumbing needs.

Ryan from Jim Dandy Sewer Service came by shortly after I called with the water heater and all pieces needed to put it in. He installed the heater, took away the old heater and tried to suck up as much as he could with a wet-dry vac, but the 50+ gallons were more than that machine could handle easily, so he recommended a water mitigation service service to come and finish getting the water out and dry the floors and walls. Ryan was neat and clean, efficient on the job and polite. His advice was very helpful as far as finalizing the clean up.

Came over promptly, installed the new water heater. No hassle, professional. Worked out great.

I last used them last fall and they were way overpriced. I thought the job would be harder than what they did but they didn't reduce the price. I have used them before to clean my sewers but this job I ended up spending about $1500. They took sound equipment to locate where the sewer line was going but I already knew where it ran. They told me it ran almost 4 or 5 feet under and then slopes down and then ran up the sides of the house. The main purpose was to clean out the sewer line so that they don't have to make a mess in the house. They could just clean it out there.

I wasn't really pleased with the person that they sent out. The person seemed lazy. I had to suggest to him what he should be doing so he wasn't very proactive and he did not succeed in solving my problem. Their service was not really good.

Someone from Jim Dandy came out & gave us a bid. We made an appointment for them to do the work. My husband took time off from work to be here. After waiting for 4 hours for them to arrive, we received a phone call saying they couldn't make it that day & for us to call the office to reschedule. My husband did that & was told he needed to speak to the same fellow that had not shown up. He left messages on 2 occasions & we never heard back from anyone, so no, we would not consider using them in the future.

At first there was some confusion as to when he could be there, but when that was straightened out, all went very well.

They are awesome. They weren’t super responsive exactly and usually, they are really busy but their price is really reasonable. They are really nice guys. I’m looking forward to working with them.

A responsive company with competent professionals. He was here for one hour. Even though it included the spigot and the flush valve, $315 seems high for one hour.

Video locate with sewer scope to assess where the sewage pipes leave our house and the path they take to the main sewer line (part of an evaluation for a planned garage rebuilding project in our backyard). They were professional from the first steps of scheduling, meeting at our house and providing services. I was not present at the time but my wife said that they were friendly, professional and efficient in their work. They located the pipe's path under the backyard and found and explained issues found along the way (root infiltration, breakage in a pipe). Not particularly cheap, but you do get what you pay for. Will definitely try to work with them again in the future for plumbing needs.

Plumber called ahead to say he was on the way, showed up on time. Pleasant and professional, explained the was reason for badly leaking shower valve, provided the part needed. Fixed problem in half an hour, tidied up his materials and debris and was on his way.

They told me they would stop by with an estimate. That was 18 days ago! I called them about two weeks after the initial visit to inform them they still haven't given me the estimate. They said they would stop by to drop it off. That still has yet to happen. I will not use this company in the future. They must not want the job.

We needed a bid to have the house repiped. They were very quick to respond and the man who was here and went underneath the house seemed very thorough. He indicated he would give us a bid within two to three days. When we had not heard from him after a week, I called and a very nice man apologized and said he would have the man who inspected our house give us a call right away. We never did hear back. We imagine that the job was going to be bigger than he could handle and rather than tell us that he just simply did not respond. Not a good way to do business.

It went great. All of Jim Dandy's employees were friendly and courteous. The job was done in one week as opposed to two weeks for a different company that did a similar job for a neighbor. It also cost about half what the other neighbor paid. During the process they made sure we had the use of our facilities every night by making temporary connections. Chad and Jamie were especially hard working. They pushed to the limits of their endurance to make sure everything was right at the end of each day. Using Angie's list saved me $16,000 over what a different company bid and the job was done right. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

Basement laundry area was found flooding. Floor drain was in the area so it appeared to be a blocked sewer. This was on a Sunday, so the choices were limited. Carl from Jim Dandy came out in ~90 minutes. The line was cleared and a sewer scope was done. Plus, he was a nice guy. Made a Sunday plumbing emergency about a pleasant as possible. Will definitely use Jim Dandy in the future.

This is my second service call by Jim Dandy and I'm completely satisfied. Arranging the visit was easy and the dispatched called in an employee for Saturday morning, solving my problem a few days earlier than expected even though I wasn't having an emergency. No additional charges were made for this next-day service, which was appreciated. Sam was on time, friendly and right on the case. He correctly estimated the amount of time it would take to snake the line based on my explanation of previous issues and a quick inspection of the situation. The slowness was completely resolved and I purchased a line treatment powder, for which I received good, clear instructions. Charges for the visit were clear and the final bill was as expected. This is exactly how to do business and keep customers calling you when in need. Great job, Jim Dandy!

Sean was on time so he didn't waste any of my time. He was professional, a good listener when I explained what needed to be repaired, and he clearly seemed to know what he was doing while working. And he was HONEST! He did not need to use one part and deducted it from the final invoice (I was given a written estimate before he started work to make sure I was OK with the estimated cost). Once again, I am so glad to have joined Angie's List--this time to find a good plumber.

This was the second time Ive used this company. Picture a plumber stereotype working under your kitchen sink and grunting or talking down to you when you ask a question... Well that guy is not the one showing up when you call Jim Dandy. These handsome gents at least the ones I met are hard working- efficient- professional- friendly- informative. Chad showed up right on time to start the repair of my sewer line. This was supposed to be taken care of by the previous owners who signed off and produced documentation that it had been done. When the sewer backed up and the plumber sent a camera down the sewer it was obvious the repair had not been done. Thick roots had grown into the break making the problem worse. Bummer as this was my first experience buying a house. Since Chad was working alone I expected it would take him 3 hours to shovel down to my sewer line. He knocked on the door after 20-25 minutes. Good news it was only 2 ft down and a few feet from my house. He climbed into the crawl space to confirm he had reached the correct line. He then showed me what the previous couple had done. They put a piece of PVC over part of the 45 degree break and threw a shovel of mortar into the hole. It was a TOTAL MESS. Chad quickly dug out all the chunks of mortar the overgrown roots and broken pipe. He called me back out when he was finished installing the new pipe and clean out for access later Sorry but I don't know the technical term for that plumbing part. He back-filled the hole and left the area looking better than when he started. I was finally able to run my washing machine... Be thankful if you have not experienced a sewer emergency. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The following day the original founders nephew came over to run a camera down the sewer access to inspect the repair and sewer line down to the street. Smart friendly guy who walked me through the film and explained what I was looking at... Nice to get a little history on how the company started too. His aunt named the company. He marked a hairline crack down by my retaining wall. I will have them come out every 3 yrs to do a maintenance clean out and monitor this spot. A few days later I had Tim ...Jim Dandys project manager... come out to give me an estimate on finishing the plumbing in my upstairs bathroom renovation. Good guy who has a quick knowledge of Seattle code. He gives you the confidence his guys will make your job a priority and get it done right.

We were very happy with their service. We're in the septic bed and it was bubbling up. They found the blockage in about 70 feet across my house. It's holding up fine. They were friendly and courteous. They came when they said they would. The repair guy was there for a good hour plus. The service was a yucky job. I wouldn't be able to do it myself.

Quick diagnosis of incorrect valve type installed by a previous builder. Project took about 30 minutes longer than expected due to access issues, but price still within estimate.
