Got a phone quote of $375 when calling to schedule the appointment. The plumber and apprentice called to let me know they were going to be early for the appointment. They got right to work after we found the backflow valve in my basement. The work went very well, the line was cleaned and they put a camera down it to make sure it was completely cleared of roots and debris. They were very quick and let me know the status of the work as it was being completed. The job came in under the estimate at $250. This is the third time I've used Jim Dandy, they will be the first plumber i contact with any future plumbing needs.

A galvanized pipe from the sink waste water had two holes that had been eaten through the bottom of the pipe over time. Tim found the most efficient way to get to the pipe without damaging the wood siding on the house. He cut a minimal hole under the pipe through an easily replaceable cover board and fixed the leak. He showed me the issue and involved me in any decision making around the repair. He made the repair quickly and replaced all the coverings efficiently. I am happy with the work and would recommend Tim.
Description of Work: We had a waste water pipe that burst and was leaking outside the house when we used the kitchen sink. The pipe was behind the siding and I was worried that this was going to be an expensive repair since the origin of the leak was not easy to see. We found Jim Dandy Plumbing after researching them here on Angie's list. They made an appointment to come the next day and arrived on time. Tim from Jim Dandy came and found the issue right away.

From the start there wasn't a problem we made an appointment and they took my credit card and we're off and running..So I thought !they were supposed to come out between 2&4 on Wednesday and didn't show up until 7 o'clock that night. Of course ,I got a lot of insipid apologies and phone calls but that's not acceptable to me to keep changing the time on a pre-inspection for buying this property. And after all was said said and done all I got was a "we think" there "might be" about sewer line. This company is so unprofessional and so good glib in their attitude when wasting your time. They didn't even give me a lousy discount for wasting my Realtors whole day. I don't trust this company as far as I can throw them and their receptionist needs to go back to receptionist school and learn how to talk to people in a respectful manner! I had to give her my email address several times before she wrote it down correctly this was the worst plumbing experience of my life. Not to mention when I called University Place sewer maintenance department they told me a new line has been putting in 1990 by Northwest Cascade that's who I'll be calling to do the sewer scope see you in court because you're not getting away with wasting my whole day and then coming back with the report that has made and we think and it doesn't work for me. So when I got from this company was a bill for $251 and no video, no report. I still have no idea whether there is a broken line or not. You people should be ashamed of yourselves for how you conduct business. I can't believe all these good reviews maybe that's where all your money is going to cause it certainly isn't going to qualified staffing. Unbelievable! Update on 4/22/14, managing body working with me for a tangible resolution. Update on 4/23/14, Complete and utter failure to perform service accurately, efficiently, responsibly, professionally. And total disregard for me as a customer all for $250.

A little over one year ago, we experienced a water leak near the meter. Jim Dandy plumbing sent a technician who fixed the leak. Just a few days over a year later, it leaked again It turned out the leak was in the same spot. They could not figure out why this would happen. Jim Dandy honored their implied warranty and repaired the break for no charge. The technician, Ryan, worked hard, dug up the line and gave us an overnight repair to allow us to have water until the next day. He returned and made a permanent repair. When I called the office to discuss the possibility of a warranty, Larry, the GM said they would honor it anyway and that there would be no charge. Above and beyond. This is a class operation.
Description of Work: We had a reoccurring leak at the water meter box. Jim Dandy, referred by the city of Bellevue, repaired the leak.

The plumber arrived very quickly at our home on a Saturday and evaluated the problem of a break in the water service coming into our home. He made the repair and was done in about 2 hours. I went under the house to see the work the next morning and noticed a fine spray coming off one of the solder joints. I called Jim Dandy back and they had a plumber out in about 45 min. He completely replaced the previous work for no charge of course and added an additional shut-off valve with no extra charge. Very nice guys and definitely were prompt.

The technician did a great job of not only fixing the leaking pipe but was also responsive when I called to get additional information on the leak. They were professional and referred me to another trust worthy company who could drain out the existing water and help the area dry. I would refer this company to anyone needing plumbing services!
Description of Work: I contacted Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing Services to fix the leak I had in the crawlspace of my rental property. I had anticipated a large bill along with needing a sump pump installed. They entered the crawlspace and discovered that there was a leaking pipe that was causing all the water damage and once repaired the problem should be solved (fingers crossed!)

The manager was confident telling me that he will be here and will do it in an hour...and he did. I got the Angie's List $25 reduction but it still cost me a lot of money which is almost $200.
For me this was a mixed experience. Still sorting through how I feel about things. It all started when I noticed a basement drain was slow to clear when the laundry machine discharged. I read the reviews here and JD looked like a great outfit. I called them in and a guy showed up promptly to snake the line. He started in the basement with a 50ft snake. It wasn't long enough so he used a 90 foot one. This also proved insufficient so they went to my driveway drain and went about 6ft where they determined their was a problem with the drain pipe. At this point I was $325 into the drain affair and felt pretty good. To fix the next section I was looking at 2900 which I agreed to. The guys again showed up on time and dug out the dirt at breakneck speed and got down to the pipe. The prognosis was that the pipe was itself collapsed and they needed to dig out about a 6-8 foot section and replace it. Now I was a little concerned about the pricing and was able to get a capped cost with a time and materials clause such that if the job finished on T&M for less than fixed I could elect to pay the lesser amount of 4900$. I agreed to the terms and the guys came out with a shovel machine which dug out the dirt and exposed more pipe. As they went along they also hit my water line into the house. While hitting the water line was upsetting it was also understandable in the sense the water line ran near the pipe being replaced. Still it meant time, delay, and cost. With the water line repaired and the piping installed and inspected it was covered up with dirt and things returned to normal in terms of water was concerned. I would reiterate what others have said about the guys being good spirits, working hard etc. I think the same. As the work on this project progressed I have to admit I didn't feel well communicated with. For instance, the scheduling of the guys wasn't well explained and their arrivals and departure times weren't exactly agreed to. Also, there wasn't any sort of follow up about the overall satisfaction with the work. In fact I wound up asking for my bill with no response by email. A couple days later I received a bill in the mail. So on balance I feel like the work was done acceptably, but the customer experience was lacking. And as for price, that too is tricky. On the one hand 6K seems like a lot for fixing a sewer pipe, but then again maybe this is a fair, or even good deal. I am unsure...
Description of Work: Snake line to sewer line break, dig up raised bed to access broken pipe, remove about 6-8 foot section of pipe, install clean-out, replace soil and landscape rocks.

We had repetitive backups for a couple days and got Jim Dandy out. Their first plumber snaked the pipe, got it running again, and then it promptly backed up the next morning again. Fortunately, the first plumber had already scheduled a follow-up scoping since he didn't have a video scope, so the next day when they arrived they scoped the backed up pipe and found the issue was a disintegrating ground-soil connection that had allowed roots to grow into the pipe very near the house. To fix this required digging down about 6 feet to get to the old ground-soil connection, tearing out the old components, and replacing them with new ones. The work was done by an assortment of people from Jim Dandy who each came out to take care of their part. They were all quite friendly and did their work quickly and quietly. The work came out fine. There was some collateral damage to the garden where they dug out -- they apparently do not replace bushes they tear out to access the pipes, although they did repair the sprinkler pipe they had to cut through. Overall the work site was left pretty clean, if a little scarred. I don't think Jim Dandy was the cheapest I could have paid for the work. But I was not in a position to shop around, and they made it very easy to get the work done.

Our gutter downspouts are tied into drainage pipes but with all the heavy rain over the last week we could see that one of the pipes was overflowing, which in turn was allowing water to enter our finished basement. We tried to clear the blockage in the drain pipe ourselves, but weren't having any luck so hopped on Angie's List and found a plumbing company on Thursday afternoon. Jim Dandy was able to get someone out that evening and the plumber who arrived was Carl. Turns out there are P traps in our drainage pipes so Carl wasn't able to get his camera through the pipe to see what was causing the blockage but he was able to work the auger down the length of the pipe and clear the blockage. I stayed outside and chatted with Carl while he was working and although it was already late in the day when he arrived, I didn't feel like he was rushing to try to get out there without solving my problem. Also, I didn't notice this until the next day, but our outside water spigots are covered with those little insulating covers and Carl had even taken the time to replace one after he removed it to hook up his hose and run water down the drain to ensure everything was flowing correctly. I was very happy with my experience with Jim Dandy, and will be asking for Carl if I have any future plumbing needs.

Ryan of Jim Dandy had helped me with a plumbing issue previously (toilet that wouldn't re-fill - fixed for $138) and I was impressed with his affable manner and his get to work attitude. Because of this I asked him for a bid on replacing a kitchen drain line that had sprung leaks over the many years we've had our house. The bid was fair and he replaced the very long copper pipe and re-routed the end run to make more room over the washing machine (his suggestion and a good one). It took him less time than he had originally estimated so he did the work below bid! Works well now. No leaks and I definitely would use Jim Dandy again.

I was very happy with them. They were prompt in getting back to me over the phone. We had to order some parts and they had to come back. I am extremely pleased with the service from Jim Dandy, which really all boils down to Ryan, the service tech who came to the house. I had had a bubble in the ceiling of my kitchen for a few months. I didn't notice when it began, as the water hadn't leaked through to cause any puddles on the floor. I kept an eye on the bubble, even using a pen to roughly outline the bubble for signs of it expanding. Months went by and nothing changed. Then one morning, the bubble had grown larger. That day I called Jim Dandy and had a very easy, brief conversation to schedule my appointment for the next day. Costs were estimated, and I was offered the Angie's List coupon without my even having to mention it. The plumber came out right in the middle of my appointment window, after giving me a courtesy call about 45 minutes before to let me know he was on his way, and providing an updated arrival time. It took about an hour to diagnose the cause of the leak. I have two bathrooms and a washroom directly over the leak, so there were multiple sources to test. After cutting minimal holes in the ceiling and testing the likely suspects, the source was identified and the fix was an easy $9 part. The entire visit took about 2 hours, so the vast bulk of my bill was the hourly rate and service charge, which I was more than happy to pay. It does seem like a high hourly rate, but the quality of the service is excellent, the scheduling and appointment time were speedy, and communication was top notch. Having used other less expensive plumbers in the past, I can say you get what you pay for. Ryan kept us informed about what he was encountering, what his next steps would be, and was very professional and personable. Should I need a plumber again, I will absolutely be calling Jim Dandy, and requesting Ryan as well.

See above. It was a simple job handled professionally, punctually, fairly-priced with great results. Ask for Ryan! GREAT experience!
Description of Work: ASK FOR RYAN! Ryan came first to diagnose the bathroom sink leak. Yesterday, he returned with a new sink with the proper overflow connections. He installed it, he did a wonderful job caulking it in as well as refreshing the surrounding caulk. I suppose that most plumbers could have done this, but most plumbers are not Ryan! There's something about him that made my daughter (attended his first visit) and me (attended the installation visit) totally comfortable with him in the home and with him as a person. I recommend him and this company HIGHLY. Make them your first and only call, and if by chance you have to wait a day, which we didn't, I assure you that he's worth it. HUGE ACCOLADES from us!

I called Jim Dandy when the plumbing company from my home warranty did not fix the issue. Sam came out, was extremely professional and immediately spotted the issue. He even pointed out the issue and taught me some about the piping in our home and what might have caused the leak in the first place. He then came back on a second day to fix the issue. The reason for this second visit was to determine whether to have the warranty company address it themselves. But we decided to have Jim Dandy do it. And this was a great decision. Sam came back and was able to resolve the issue using better materials. In addition to all of this the price was extremely fair.

Let's start with a point of clarification- this is a drastic overhaul of an "F" rating I gave Jim Dandy in 2011. At the time there service and contract arrangements were borderline illegal, costing me thousands of dollars more than they stated they would. But Jim Dandy has a new owner as of 2013, and he is a first class guy. He saw my old review, and apologized for things that weren't even his fault. I decided to give them a try again when a toilet regularly backed up, and I'm glad I did. The work done involved re-scoping parts of the line inside the house to see why one branch was backing up every couple months, and seeing how old pipes had not been slopped sufficiently, and this water was pooling and leaving behind solids in the basement bath branch of the sewer whenever the upstairs bathroom was used. This was in a 1906 house that had been renovated in the 1980s. Jim Dandy worked with me to figure out how to re-route the upstairs line without breaking out the concrete foundation, while keeping the line fully code and concealed by routing through the foundation in second location and tying together outside the house. All of the plumbing has worked great ever sense. The only reason I don't give them an "A" rating is that the general manager is the same slime ball who told me the first time I used them that if I didn't like paying thousands more then quoted, then I could see him in court. He is far more interested in doing what his boss tells him than in helping customers- but now that Jim Dandy has a stand up and ethical owner, this is less likely to cause problems. It does still rub me the wrong way though, and thus the "B" rating.

When we discovered sewage odors in our basement, I removed a cover panel to our crawl space and saw that the sewer line attached to our main floor toilet was broken. I called Jim Dandy and they gave me a 2 hour window the same day. Mike called before coming out and showed up early . . . an unexpected and nice surprise. Mike did an excellent job of repairing the sewer line then went above and beyond the call of duty cleaning up a majority of the solid waste and disinfecting the area. I highly recommend Jim Dandy and especially Mike.
