Jim Dandy Sewer & Plumbing

After receiving two bids $9000 and $8500 (Jim Dandy was the $8500) to excavate and repair drain, the guys at Jim Dandy brainstormed and provided a less expensive alternative of diverting the drain within the unfinished portion of my basement, saving the cost of excavation and saving me $6000.

He arrived promptly at eight this morning, assessed the problem, told us it would take him about 45 minutes, and then replaced the old plastic shut-off valve with a better one. He cleaned up what mess he had made. We were impressed.

Sam was courteous, prompt, and respected our shared driveway. Easy to understand and talk to. After this experience, we plan to use Jim Dandy for a larger job in the future.

I was told they would get to me in one hour...never called back This company calls me today (one month after my post) to ask why and what happened etc This was rather surprising...am I going to get calls from everyone I review? This has never happened before. Went back and read my post It seems very self explanatory; I don't see any reason to discuss this further

They're okay. We're not really happy with it because they provided another service. Our line has a valley thing. They did not give a good camera. They did not really do a good job with the camera. Our sewer has a valley. They did not see the actual sewer line. They charged us with another service but it didn't work. It ended up with $600 additional. The other services that they provided weren't good. Our office is in the basement. They didn't remove the water because the water backed up again. They couldn't apply much pressure to it.

Based on the reviews here on Angie's List I selected Jim Dandy to resolve a slow draining problem. Scheduling this was very easy and the person was very knowledgeable and helpful. The technician Austin called 30 minutes ahead to let us know he was on the way and he arrived exactly as scheduled. The work was professionally done, and it was a pleasure to have Austin doing the work. And because this was such a positive experience, I will definitely use Jim Dandy for any future plumbing work.

They were friendly, professional, and flexible. A pleasant experience and we will be using them again.

It went great. Carl from Jim Dandy called us back (after contacting their answering service) and said he'd be with us ASAP. After he showed up (10:30pm, not long after he called us), he was friendly, professional, and was very helpful describing what he was doing and why he was doing it. Now, my house apparently has the sewer system from h***. The main cleanout is in my crawlspace, which is approximately 5 inches high, so he had to pull the toilet. After patiently navigating the auger through the maze of pipes the makes up my drainage system, he determined the blockage was too stubborn to vanquish without some serious firepower. A lesser man would have thrown up his hands for the night, but Carl refused to give up. Even after midnight, he went and fetched the water jet and, after returning with a really impressive and scary looking piece of equipment mounted on its own freaking trailer, climbed on top of my house (!!! AT TWO IN THE FREAKING MORNING !!!) to work the jet down the ventilation stack and into the sewer. In minutes, everything was flowing freely again. A++,would hire again. Hopefully next time under less urgent circumstances, though. And Carl should get a raise.

I have used the firm over the years. They have been very helpful and very responsive. Yesterday's experience was troublesome. They charge a $49 appearance fee as well as $169 for the first hour. With tax, the first hour costs $236.53. If a member of Angies List; you get $25 off. The job took 31 minutes from entering the house to leaving the house. At least 5 minutes or more was spent entering information into the handheld computer. So... the $236 rate for less than 31 minutes of work seems pretty high. I encourage folks to use this firm. However, please make sure that you have a number of items for them to check should the repair work take less than an hour.

Went great! I am an out-of-state landlord, so I am always a little on edge about these kinds of service calls, but they showed up on time, fixed the problem on the spot (even though it was much worse than we had expected) and the renters were very happy with the results. It's nice to know there are dependable people who can take care of my house even when I'm not around!

It went great - later there was a follow on issue and they came out and resolved that at no cost.

Provider was very prompt and understood the urgency of the fix. Work was performed quickly and thoroughly. I would highly recommend them!

Michael was polite, knowledgeable, and professional - it was a HOLIDAY and 90 degrees. He found my problem (the fittings on my kitchen faucet under the sink somehow were loose enough to have water pouring pouring out from under the sink) and fixed it. Needless-to-say I was very grateful. Excellent response and service from the initial phone call through the service call.

If you have a choice of Jim Dandy employees to service your pipes, ask for Carl specifically! Carl is honest, friendly, highly capable, efficient AND has a great personality. There?s really nothing more you could want in a plumber! I hope we don?t have another need for a plumber, but if we do, we?ll be calling back and asking for Carl specifically. I highly recommend him.

.It went wonderfully. I discovered the leak at around 2 pm on a Sat. Called Jim Dandy at 2:45 and they had a plumber (Michael) to my by 330. Turns out my water line is a bit weird and when the water line was first installed they put a "shut off" valve near near my outdoor faucet (which sticks up from the ground). Leak turned out to be bushing in the valve which was a very easy fix! Michael discussed with me my outdoor faucet which is not to code and point out to me that galvanized pipe that sticks up from the water line to the faucet is corroding. No pressure to get it fixed but said I need to be aware of it and should think about getting it fixed in the next year and gave me an idea of how much that work would be. Michael also did an inspection of all the plumbing elements both inside and outside the house. He found that on small minor thing to fix (a cap for the outdoor sink plumbing). Very glad the fix was easy as I had visions of having to get a new water line. Jim Dandy is definitely on my list to use for future plumbing needs.

When I called the office to schedule the appointment, I was told that the person would be there first thing in the morning at 9 AM because I was the first appointment of the day. I had received an email saying that their computer system went down and they needed to reconfirm the appointment. The email had mentioned that the plumber would be there at 8 am. I called the office at 9:30 AM inquiring where the plumber was and the office person said that the person has a 2 hour window to come (which was different than what I was told when I made the appointment). Because of that, I almost cancelled the service. Sam the plumber was professional, efficient and had good cost saving recommendations. I would use the service again if needed. However, I would caution the office to avoid promising service at a specific time (9 AM) if there is really a 2 hour window for showing up.

We had called several companies closer to home and with more reviews and all were busy until the next week. Jim Dandy's very personable dispatcher took pity on our sob story about a large family and sent a team out within hours. They actually arrived early after calling to ask if that was ok! When Thomas and Gary arrived, they immediately investigated, asked the right questions about our unique old house sewer and plumbing, got to work and were done in an hour, cleaning everything up. Their appearance fee was 1/2 what other plumbers have charged, they didn't charge for the hour travel time down here, their hourly rate was very fair (especially for a two man crew), and they told us how we could reduce the risk of blockages, Two months ago South West Plumbing charged over 2x for the same work (they actually missed the primary blockage) and attempted to up-sell us into a $14,000 repair. Jim Dandy's now our go to for plumbing.

Braun was our rep who was beyond Awsome in setting everything up to determine what work was needed. He was friendly, professional and very informative. I appreciated his honesty in the process and what they would need to do if the liner wouldn't work, as well as the additional cost if we had to repair the sewer line. We were in a time sensitive situation with the sale of the property and they were able to get everything done within 2 days.

I got very anxious this morning when I noticed a pipe was leaking in my garage, so I called Jim Dandy. They were prompt and on time, very knowledgeable, and quickly identified the problem with my pipe and then fixed it. Then they answered a few minor plumbing questions that I had. I also thought their price was very reasonable. I am very satisfied with their work and would definitely call them again or recommend them to a friend.
