Classic Insulation & Pest Control

One day before the schedule time, they called me to remind this appointment . Todd came to my house on time and performed a very professional inspection to my attic and crawlspace. Then he answered all our questions patiently and honestly. I highly recommend Todd and Classic Insulation & Pest Control. I will choose them to do our attic and crawlspace in the future.

Everything went well and they took care of the problem.

I think their online chat help is bunk. I wanted to know if there were one of the vendors I chatted with at the Whatcom home and garden show and if they offered a particular product. I just needed a very simple answer. "Bret" just kept pushing for my email and phone number without giving me any useful information whatsoever. Ultimately, he said he'd have somebody who knew what they were talking about call and email me... I was not interested in giving my email and phone number when their online chat service rep should have answers to these very simple questions.

. .Terry did an excellent job of examining the attic and explaining to me what he saw. He seemed very knowledgeable. He was very businesslike and friendly and easy to talk to. I'd recommend his services to anyone.

Were very prompt and helpful during the bid process. (we had 3 bids) Classic was the most professional and least pushy. Gave me a break down of all services and let me choose what I wanted to have done. we set up a date and they called and confirmed the day before when they would be on site. They showed up on time and got the job done on schedule. We couldn't be happier. Will gladly use them again.

I hear the crawl space is very tight under my house. These guys worked without a complaint and got the job done well. We are very happy with the service and would use them again if needed. However, our crawl space is now perfect and clean so don't expect to need them soon. Very few insects come into the house now and our floors are comfortable. Heating bills down!

I called Classic Insulation for 2 reasons: I was smelling my crawl space in the house and we wanted to keep rodents out of the crawl space and house. Classic Insulation came out and explained they would down the old insulation, add concrete where rodents were obviously entering the crawl space, along with the other items listed above. They also explained that they would look for other points of entry for rodents and contact us if they saw anything so we could address this at the time. I was initially pleased with their work. However, a couple of weeks later I was still smelling the crawl space a LOT in my house so called an air quality specialist from an HVAC company to help me figure out what was going on. After this inspection, I learned a couple of things about the work Classic Insulation had done: 1. The workers had covered over giant holes (approximately 20"X 20") with new insulation rather than pointing them out so we could patch them before re-insulating. 2. There was no mention of the numerous other holes where rodents could easily squeeze through from the crawl space into the house during their work. Instead, they once again covered over them without notifying us. 3. They failed to replace a section of flex ducting that had a giant hole in it (problematic for both rodent entry AND crawl space smell in house). 4. They covered over some really badly done ducting that had big gaps in it (e.g. rigid ducting to flex ducting attached with old duct tape) and squashed it in the process. 5. They failed to seal many of the rodent entry points into the crawl space with concrete. I called them back and asked them to address these problems. The person who came out was very helpful and responded to my requests: 1. Take down all the insulation so I can seal off the crawl space from the house. 2. Return once we're finished sealing things off to re-insulate. 3. A series of small other things. When the workers came to do the work, however, they were clearly confused (and p*****) about what they were supposed to be doing. They didn't want to do the work and I had to call the person who came to straighten things out in order to clear up the confusion. These workers were the same ones who had initially done the work and proceeded to tell me that the reason there were unsealed holes (rodent entry holes) was because the rodents had already dug new holes. This seemed very unlikely considering how many holes there were and how many had "appeared" since they had initially done the work. It was also confusing to hear this since they had suggested sealing holes with concrete as a solution to rodent entry in the crawl space. If rodents were digging back through in force within 2 weeks of this work being done, I'm confused why they would suggest I pay for it in the first place. I finished sealing off all of the holes between the house and the crawl space (which they had covered over previously with insulation) and then called to have the workers return to re-install the insulation. I was clear that I wanted someone who hadn't been out before since they were clearly upset the first time. The woman working there said this was impossible, however, after pushing her she said she'd see what she could do. When the workers returned, they were new and did a nice job. Overall, I leave this project realizing that the strategies Classic Insulation suggested for addressing the root causes of the problems I wanted to address were nothing more than superficial fixes which did little if anything to address the concerns I initially raised. $2500 is a lot of money to pay for a supposed quick fix. I wasn't at all impressed with Classic Insulation and believe they have work to do to get up to speed on new building science and ensuring that the services they offer actually do more than make something look better in the very short term to the homeowner. If I hadn't called someone else, I wouldn't have gone back down into my crawl space to explore what was going on and would have probably been relatively satisfied even though I would have still been smelling the crawl space.

Quote was competitive, and they took care of PSE rebates with no hassles, knocking several hundred dollars from cost. Crew showed up as scheduled and did the work with no issues, in one day for a medium sized footprint house (~750 sq ft). Our crawlspace is dirt floor and about 5 feet high at one end, maybe 1 foot at the other-- not terrible but not easy to work in either. But they did a great job and it has made a huge difference in making that space clean. Forgot to mention that while working in the crawlspace the workers apparently did something to an electrical circuit-- lights were out in a couple of rooms, breaker had flipped. When I reset the breaker it immediately flipped-- so, a short circuit. We called Classic and they paid for an electrician to come out right away and inspect and fix the problem (it is resolved)-- no fuss or argument. I thought this was above and beyond, really.

We didn't use their services.

Corey and his team did a great job! I had a waste water leak under my house that ruined my insulation. Corey came out and provided an estimate. Over the next several days Corey helped me understand all my options and costs. I felt he did a great job explaining it all to me without a lot of pressure. His team came out and removed all the insulation and deodorized and sanitized the crawl space. I had the leak fixed and after a few weeks of drying time, Corey?s team came back out and replaced all the insulation. Corey and his staff worked with PUD to help me secure rebates that saved me over a thousand dollars!! I would highly recommend Classic Insulation and pest control. They were completely trustworthy and forthright through the entire service.

Corey provided a bid about a year ago and honored it after our roof was repaired late summer. The company is very professional, good follow-up and did an outstanding job, I am very happy with team who installed the insulation.

Excellent. The crew showed up on time and worked continuously. The house is 2,600 sf with a large walk-in crawlspace. The project steps were explained to me in detail so I knew what was being done at all times. The crew was careful not to get any dirt on the rugs or walls and they cleaned up everything at the end of the project. We were very pleased with the outcome - our crawlspace smells wonderful and it's so clean! The rodents are gone and we are definitely going to follow up with regular rodent check-ups so we can avoid having to ever have to do this again. Great job.

The work went very well. After three days we did not have any more scratching in the attic, and we identified the type of rodents (tree rats) that entered the house. They advised us regarding necessary yard work to help with rodent exclusion, and I was able to get that done promptly before their third visit (3 of 3 visits that we contracted for). After the third visit, we still had no more rodent activity and I was able to transition into a maintenance program, with additional environmentally friendly and pet/child safe bait traps placed around the property. We will be following up within about a month to finish with the attic clean out, re-insulation, and any necessary repairs to seal potential rodent entry points. I was pleased that the estimate for the remaining work was less than I paid in the past, for a larger area needing repairs and attention. I expect that work will be done properly and professionally, based on my experience to date. I am very satisfied with quality of work and pricing (otherwise I would not have chosen a maintenance program). The technicians were extremely knowledgeable and answered all of my questions completely. The office staff are also very helpful and professional, easy to contact, and excellent with their communication and scheduling. I would definitely recommend this company to others, based on my experience to date.

Last summer we discovered rodent feces on a railing and on a windowsill outdoors. We called a local pest control company and their employee said he thought we had rats. Despite being puzzled by the location of the feces in high, difficult to reach places, he assured us it was rat-related and set up traps. Four weeks and almost $400 dollars later, no rats were found and the feces stopped showing up. The technician suggested my cat had disposed of the rat. This summer we have had the same problem. This time I called Classic Insulation and Pest Control. In less than five minutes the office assistant diagnosed our problem over the phone: bats. She advised us to wait until they migrate south and then block the holes so they can't re-enter next summer. I will definitely call them to do the work when the time comes. Thank you for your help!

They were very responsive, and professional. Also just very nice and personable. The rat exclusion was a dirty job but they did it cheerily. Bot the exclusion and the insulation were big jobs but they got them done all in one day due to having a large team. There was a problem of a persistent smell in the our "crawlspace of horrors" (my nickname) and they came back today to do a free additional deodorization. I also asked them for a quote on taking care of a hornet's nest that was tucked way back under our front porch, and the gentleman took care of it right there (he had a suit in his truck) and at no charge. Now that's great service!

They called back right away after i left a message. They called to let me know they could come earlier. He was very friendly and polite. Seemed focused on the job and efficient. I don't like having to ask people to take their shoes off but it is very obvious we do since there is a hugh shoe rack at the house entry and it was wet outside so i was disappointed that he didn't come with footies especially since the crawl space access is in the house, next time I'll ask. I didn't think the price was anything special but reasonable.

It was fine. The guys were great. We had two guys to remove the insulation and two guys came to put it back up. They cleaned up after themselves. They even asked if I wanted to check to the crawlspace. They were on time.

The plumbing was under the kitchen instead of in the kitchen, so they went away and came back. They removed and did the paper barrier. They plugged up the place. They were responsive and they called back to remind me. There were a lot of paper stickers outside the work done. They were the cheapest but they covered all the things the expensive ones who have done.

Very professional and prompt response to my request for a bid. The price was very close to the other bids I received and the positive comments here on AL were good, and also pretty much equal to the competitor's comments. So, frankly, it was a coin toss when it came down to it. I hope I didn't make a bad call. I would certainly give them a shot in the future if all remained equal...

They have a high degree of honesty, integrity and the services that they offer. They're clean and well-trained and nothing really comes into mind one way or the other. The experience was excellent and very good. They're good at diagnosing the problems and finding permanent solutions. There are other pests control companies that can really come up with a long term solution.

They were very accommodating of every request and were willing to work with me to get the estimate into my price range. Very professional service.

The bid process was quick and easy with everything explained and choices given. The removal and installation was fast - only about 4 hours. The clean up was great. Very polite and friendly workers. The crew chief knew what he was doing and was very careful to make sure I was happy with their work before they left.

There was evidence of a rat in the attic, traps were placed in attic and crawl space. In next visit the trap in the crawl space had the rat, no evidence in the past two months that there are any other critters. I signed up for the monthly monitoring service, a box with poison is currently placed at the entrance to the crawl space, something is feasting on it and nothing has been found in the crawl space.

The best in the PacNorthwest. No one comes close. They service our property on a quarterly basis. He even notified me when he saw that my sump pump stopped working. Above and beyond. I cannot say enough nice things about them.

Mixed. The person who gave us the bid was excellent. He seemed very knowledgeable and took the time to answer several follow-up questions, including about the material used (I wanted to avoid Ammonia). However, the work crew was sloppy. - A recent home energy audit showed that they completely missed the spaces above a few windows and did not adequately fill a few spaces (the IR camera showed irregular gaps at the top). - They did no lead removal abatement, despite it being a 1920s house. - They left sawdust everywhere. - They left black ladder marks on the side of the house. - The holes were more sloppily patched than we expected. They also drilled into an air intake duct and filled that with insulation, making a real mess. However, this sort of accident can easily happen in this business, and the owner bent over backwards to make it right. So I consider this a mark in favor of the company. He also had the crew back to clean up the sawdust and fix some of the worst sloppiness of the hole patches. We didn't know about the missing insulation at the time and I have not followed up with the owner because we already had the house painted and because I don't really want that work crew back. So?kudos to the owner and the person who bid the job. But I'm still would not use this company again. My conclusion: - Hire a company that will follow up with an IR camera (and the work done when the inside and outside temperatures are significantly different, so the effect of the insulation is easy to see). That way any errors can be fixed before you paint! - Hire a good painter to follow up. Queen Anne Painting did a great job fixing up the hole patches on our house; you can barely tell holes were drilled. - Get a home energy audit with a blower test. You can easily locate your most significant sources of heat loss and decide what to focus on fixing first.
