First I called Mark over phone and told him that I am Angie's List member and I will like to use "free service call" coupon. So if he can come and give an estimate to fix the water leak in front of the house with visible wet area. He suggested to call "Underground Detection Services Corp" to exactly pin point location! this way he will not have to dig more and I will save some money! So I did as per his suggestion. Then I called Mark and got an appointment. He came on time and dig at the marked location and saw a blue pipe. He said this is old pipe which was recalled and there is no way to patch the leak. he needs to replace the whole pipe from water meter to house. We had no choice. He called gas, electric, cable companies and got the lines marked by them. He gave $2900 cost estimate. He got the crew and finished job well before estimated time. He was very professional and helpful. During this time, I came to know that there was water leak at the same spot one year back. Earlier owner got the leak fixed and the "Rudy's plumbing" company located in Mercer Island. They didn't do the job well and leak appeared within an year.

Mike the owner operator showed fixed my very leaky bathtub that came with my new bank foreclosure home. It was tricky repair from what I could see Mike had fixed and tested in about an hour in half. Service and work done was professional and well done. Would use Mike or recomend him.

Diagnosed the heinous smell coming out of our water supply pipes as "sediment" in the water tank and pipes. They said they would do a system flush when they installed the new $1,000 water heater. They didn't flush the system during installation and promised to come back and do it later. Never saw or heard from them again. The odor is still there (never went away) and I have been able to get a response from them. Should have shopped around but I felt good about Angie's List. My fault for not getting more than 1 estimate. When they read my previous review they came to the house that very same day "disheartened". Said they would continue to research the problem, continue to diagnose and refund a portion of the water heater cost. I saw him talk to one neighbor and haven't seen him since. I told him all I wanted was to fix the problem, no matter what it was. I haven't seen or heard from them since.

I had originally been working with a well known, national rooter company to unclog my sewer line every other year. They came out recently and told me that my sewer line had collapsed and that it would cost about $3,200 to get it fixed. We called Mike at GPS Plumbing, and after a short phone conversation, he knew what the problem most likely was, gave me a good cost estimate, and scheduled a visit. He came out to the house on time and was able to get the entire job done for less than half of what the national company was going to charge. He is very friendly, professional, and very reasonably priced. I have had problems with that sewer line over the last fifteen years that I've owned that house, but thanks to Mike at GPS, I have a new sewer clean-out in the back, and everything is working great! I plan on having him back to replace the main supply line to the house.

A shutoff valve under the sink started leaking, and after a couple of days of unsuccessfully attempting to stop the leak I decided to find a plumber on Angie's List. The reviews for GPS Plumbing were great, especially for Mike, so I decided to give them a call. Within 2-3 minutes of leaving a voice message, Mike called back (first great thing: amazing responsiveness!) Then, after listening to my description of the problem, and asking questions to ensure that he understood me correctly (second great thing: not in a hurry to get off the phone!), he asked if I wanted to try something first by myself or if I wanted him to come (third great thing: not desperate to get my money!) I explained that I could give it a try, so he explained carefuly and patiently what I needed to do (fourth great thing: professionalism). It took me literally 30 seconds to do what he explained, and the problem certainly appears to have been fixed! (fifth great thing: he knew exactly what to do). I will have to wait a couple of days to confirm, since it's one of those annoying slow leaks, but there were all sorts of postions at which the shutoff valve would leak--some terribly, and now I can't find any! (BTW: he explained that the hex nut immediately behind the shutoff valve needed to be tightened clockwise just a bit with a crescent wrench, something I had considered doing but ultimately decided against since I wasn't 100% sure that it would not make the leak worse--I had one of those images in my mind where a small leak turns into sudden blast of water! he he). Anyway, Mike definitely nailed it. I couldn't have asked for a better service and will DEFINITELY call him next time. I will also recommend him to my friends. Professionals like him (responsive, truly willing to help, and most of all not desperate to get your money), sadly are harder and harder to find these days.

I called GPS Plumbing armed with descriptions of two problems (one BIG and one small) that we have been experiencing. Mike Grady answered the phone himself, asked a series of questions and offered to come by later that same afternoon to check into them and offer some solutions. Because I needed to leave around 3:00 we agreed on a time in two days when I would be home. Not more than 30 minutes after we hung up he called back to say he would be driving by our address in about 15 minutes and if I was available, could stop by. Talk about awesome customer service! He checked over the issues, told me what needed to be done for the small problem and - because I couldn't get the BIG problem to present itself - asked some more questions... opened up a valve then basically said "have a nice day". NO CHARGE, a big smile and great sense of humor. Needless to say, we will be calling GPS to repair our small problem along with any other plumbing issues we may have in the future.

Mike did an excellent job professionally and as quickly as possible.
Description of Work: Mike Grady(GPS Plumbing) cut out the bad copper section of the kitchen sink drain and installed new ABS pipe, tapping into the drain pipe in the crawl space. Because of the bigger ABS pipe, he had to shorten the water inlet pipes for more clearance. He installed new technology plastic/copper inlet pipes.

Mike was recommended by my granite contractor. Stone Pros had just completed a kitchen and laundry room remodel and I needed to have the plumbing reconnected. Mike arrived timely and completed the work in a couple of hours which was less time than I anticipated based on previous plumber's work. Mike is very knowledgeable and pleasant. I am pleased with the result of the work and would definitely use him again.

It took him about 3 hrs. to do the job and the clean up. He knew what he was doing and it all went very well.
Description of Work: He removed old hot & cold faucets from a tub shower and put in a single mixer control. It required cutting a hole in the shower liner to access and remove the old hardware, fit in some new pipe and the new mixer, cover plate. A new spigot and shower head was installed also.

I had a leak between my meter and the main shutoff for the house. Water was coming up in our new paver driveway. I called Mike and he said he could come out the next morning since it was a major leak. I had used an underground detection service to identify where the leaking pipe split off from the main supply. Mike dug one hole in the location I indicated and soon figured out that this was a location where an old sprinkler system split in two directions (not the correct place to dig). He then dug a second hole close to the meter and capped the leak. Because Mike didn't just dig into my driveway where the leak was, he potentially save me thousands of dollars in repair costs to my new driveway. He even took care to cut the sod on my grass correctly so that my lawn still looked great and recovered quickly.
Description of Work: Diagnosed a leak under our driveway. Dug one hole to where he found old galvanized pipe that was typically used in sprinklers systems at the time my house was built. Dug a second hole by the meter and capped off the old sprinkler system.

GPS was easy to contact and coordinate the replacement of our dead water heater. When Mike arrived he did the job efficiently and well. He also pointed out that the last plumbers who had worked in our basement had done some things wrong, which he showed me (flux not wiped off copper pipes, pipes at the wrong angle, etc.). I could see he was doing the job with care. He told me that he had gotten a top-quality replacement tank, which I appreciated because it will probably last longer. No mess was left behind and he took away the old tank. In our rural area it is hard to find good contractors, so I am delighted to know about GPS.

While the job wasn't terribly involved Mike was easy to get a hold of, gave me a straightforward estimate, arrived at the job site on time and called when he began traveling to the job site. He completed the work promptly while working around the countertop installers. His professionalism and work quality were great. I would happily do business with him again.
Description of Work: Mike hooked up disposal, installed faucet, reconfigured drains for a new sink installed as a result of kitchen countertop replacement. It was complicated a bit because I was reusing an existing disposal, the type of sink, the fact that the shutoff valves needed to be replaced (unexpected, but thankfully he had all the necessary parts in his van) .

Done in one visit and was right back with us when we had a false alarm with the functioning of the new tank. Couldn't ask for better service.
Description of Work: Bought a new house that needed water heater replacement. We were planning on an expensive Tankless system but Mike showed us that it wasn't likely to save us any money in the long run and wasn't as sensible for our lifestyle as a retired couple. Did a first class job and indeed, jumped right in when we thought we had a problem with the installation that turned out to be a false alarm on our part. Good work, great service.

This is the second time I have used GPS Plumbing and they are fantastic. The first time they helped me replace a basement pipe that was a problem in the winter when it froze and install an outside frost resistant faucet. All went well. I did part of the work and they were very helpful, knowledgeable and reasonable. The second time, today, I had just returned from the hospital and was under 24hour care. My wife said a pipe was leaking in the bathroom. I could not even get up to look at it. We called Mike, he came out the same day and fixed it. Again, he was very efficient, reasonable and helpful. Now I have use of a bathroom outside my bedroom as opposed to across the house which makes it easier for everyone. Mike and his team are great!

very prompt, sent text ahead advising of ETA. I had a hot water tank that was leaking from the relief valve. the city had boosted the water pressure in the area to around 150 PSI. most things in a home are suppose to operate on about 80 PSI. my expansion tank diaphram had ruptured also. Mike explained, in detail, and very understandably, what was going on. He installed a valve on the main line that reduced the water pressure, and then replaced the expansion tank. he had to do some pretty fancy work to get that valve in where it needed to go in a house that's over 60 years old. he also had to reroute some other plumbing to get it ahead of the valve. my hot water tank is only 10 years old, but one of the galvanized elbows was already restricted to about 50% flow. Mike replaced it with a brass one. it was really a pleasure to have a guy like Mike on the job!

We called GPS Plumbing at 5:00pm Wednesday with a plumbing emergency (newly installed water pipes were leaking!). Mike was very helpful and came to give us an estimate on short notice. He agreed to fit us in the very next day. He was punctual, professional and kept us well informed about everything he was doing. He was conscientious and meticulous in his work and his estimate was on target. Mike did an excellent job -we definitely recommend him!

GPS Plumbing is run the way all business should be run - with integrity, the highest quality of work, and respect for the customers' time, money, and needs. As I said, I don't know the total cost I've paid for GPS's services, but I do know they are fair. Low even. I do not believe GPS is looking to make the most money out of every opportunity that arises -- I believe they are looking to solve the problem and foster a long-term, loyal customer. Since I know my quirky house is always going to act up, I'm relieved to know GPS can fix it. Speaking of that, I need to give them a call, my 6 year old flushed a wash cloth down the now clogged toilet.
Description of Work: I've hired GPS several times. To be honest I just made up that dollar amount and date because over time I'm unsure of the total amount and specific dates. The first was to solve a sewer gas smell issue I had in one of my bathrooms. I had 3 plumbers look at it. One was ready to tear out all the tile on the floor and shower stall to re-pipe. The other was going to send a camera through the pipes and search for the problem (a thousand plus estimate for the camera tour of my pipes) then he would recommend what needed to be done. And then there was Mike. He said: let's start with the easy, inexpensive solution first. I think the toilet may have been seated wrong, let's re-seat it. He did, it worked and although I don't recall what I paid, it was very, very minimal. I needed to replace an upstairs tub that was leaking and wrongly piped (eventually leaking through the ceiling to the downstairs bath). I'd chosen the tub a few years earlier when renovating the house. I could never really finish the tub surround of this particular bathroom because the tub I chose was so tight in the space the tile surround would have looked odd. Then it started leaking because the tub was put in incorrectly. I went on a search for another aesthetically perfect tub that would fit in this small space. I found a few. I showed them to Mike and he said no, he wouldn't put it in because although it looked good it didn't fit the criteria I had told him I wanted for this (child's) bathroom. I wanted easy to clean and no worries about a little boy playing and splashing. Mike was right, it didn't fit the criteria but I stubbornly insisted that there were no aesthetically pleasing tubs that would fit in the space. He said, I'll get you some options. After several rounds of my rejecting his options he found the perfect tub. And now I have a bathroom that's not just aesthetically pleasing, it's functional and easy. Mike saved me from myself. This inspired such trust and loyalty that I asked Mike to figure out a more environmentally friendly and (long-term) cost effective solution for my water heaters. I had two. One that served only the master bath and kept a huge tank hot for a big tub I never have time to use. The other tank was smaller, on its last legs, and served the rest of the house. I wanted to replace both with tankless water heaters. Given the layout of the house and various regulations (and my hyper-sensitivity to aesthetics) it was not an easy solve. Mike came back with several options. The one I chose was to tie the lines together and have just one tankless for the whole house. It was a big job but I already had drywall work going on so it was the right time and GPS was the right company. I'm so happy to only be heating water when I need it. Mike has been out several other times to solve various things that come up with my wonderful, but troublesome house.

I contacted Mike Grady recently concerning an ongoing problem I have been having with my septic system backing up. Mike took the time to walk me through the items I need to be checking to find out what the problems could be. Even though I did not use Mikes services he talked to the septic service to make sure they were doing the right procedures to resolve the problems. I have never seen a more professional and caring person than Mike who contacted me after the septic service completed there work to make sure that the problem was resolved! It is refreshing to see good people go out of there way to help people in need. I highly recommend this company.
