All of the work done by GPS was superb! They showed up on time, explained everything to our satisfaction and worked quickly. Mike always responded quickly to emails and provided estimates. GPS worked well with the general contractor in updating our master bath. There was never any delay due to plumbing, since they always seemed to show up as needed. Really moved the project along. During the update of the master bath, when another one of the contractors punctured a water line, they showed up within the hour to make the repair. Very happy to have found a trustworthy, professional plumber!
Description of Work: When we bought the house, there were some oddities with the plumbing that we never sorted out. GPS updated our 1/2 inch plumbing with 3/4, substantially improving water pressure to our 2nd floor. Even more impressive since this required a long crawl through our crawlspace! They installed a recirc pump to improve the flow of hot water to the master bath, removed an old holding tank and re-routed some of the plumbing in the crawlspace. They also did all of the plumbing associated with updating our master bath-installing the tub, valve, toilet, faucet for sink.

I live out of state and own a rental in WA. When I lived in the house, the water spicket dripped continuously. I had a different plumber out (about a year ago) to just bandage the problem since, at the time, my husband was laid off and we didn't have the money. The renter called to tell me that the spicket was dripping again. The first plumber had told me that the real solution was replacing it all, which involved cutting into the drywall inside the house. I didn't tell Mike, from GPS Plumbing, about what I knew, just to see if he would tell me the same story. And he did. He called my renter and made an appointment with him very quickly. The job was done to my renter's satisfaction, which I must rely on since I live too far to check. Mike was very kind on the phone. They took my payment over the phone as well. Thank you, Angie's List, once again!!!

Mike was a professional in every way. From our initial phone conversation to the on-site estimate and again with the actual work, I was incredibly pleased with our choice of GPS Plumbing. While the estimate was not inexpensive, his quote was comparable to other estimates we’d received. He and another plumber showed up a little earlier than expected and got right to work. They worked quickly, efficiently and got the job done in a timely manner with little interruption to my day. Mike ensured that I was happy with the two exterior faucets (and their functioning) and even complimentarily snaked my upstairs toilet as it was running slowly. I would definitely use GPS Plumbing again and would happily recommend them to friends and family.
Description of Work: Replaced both the front and back exterior faucets with frost-free faucets to our 1978 house.

After waiting all night for another plumbing company to respond to my call, I gave up and decided to try someone else. I am now glad the first company I called did not respond until several hours later because I had the opportunity to find and work with GPS Plumbing. I had heard noise that sounded like running water behind my shower wall. I had no idea what was happening, if it was serious or nothing to worry about. GPS Plumbing came out to take a look right away. After checking a few things, they eventually found a faucet barely left on. Once the faucet was completely shut off the noise I heard in the shower disapeared. Of course I felt silly, but the gentleman from GPS was gracious and refused to accept any payment from me. I will definately use GPS Plumbing for any future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: GPS Plumbing came to my home to trouble shoot a sound (like running water) behind my shower wall. They went to the garage to check my holding tank (I have a well). Then they prepared to go into the crawl space under my home. In the process of doing that, they found a faucet that had been barely left on. Once it was tightened the noise behind the shower wall disapeared.

An excellent value. Very responsive, excellent work, great communication. Mike and his assistant performed the work very quickly and did an excellent job. For a very small company, he was easy to get a hold of. Everything was done exactly as we had discussed, and Mike got in touch with us immediately for every decision we had to make and every issue that arose.
Description of Work: Replaced plumbing from street to house. Opened up drywall in basement room to access plumbing. Replaced all cold and hot water plumbing in basement up to the risers. Replaced faucet in basement sink. Fixed one of our toilets that was running.

Over the course of the last couple of months, I went out and got 3 estimates for replacing my 10+ year old 50 gal water heater. GPS Plumbing provided me a great quote for that work, and in addition quoted an upgrade to tankless plus cited local gas company rebates and federal tax credits that would apply to the job. Their quote was hands down the best of all quotes that I received, and their great status on Angie?s List made me feel very comfortable going with them. The job is now complete and I couldn?t be happier with every aspect of the work that Mike +1 from GPS did. The work was very high quality, cleanup was done to my satisfaction, and the cost was exactly on the estimate?and as I already mentioned a really great value. A++ to GPS plumbing, I highly recommend! Updated 2-4-10 -- Tub started leaking this week and called Mike from GPS because i assumed it had to do w/ the drain replacement done in Dec....Mike showed up within an hour and turns out the leak was unrelated to the work he did in Dec. He diagnosed and fixed immediately. THANKS!!

I had a burst pipe due to severe cold weather and called Mike on Thanksgiving Day, he told me what steps to take to ensure no further problems and was willing to come the following day (I wanted to wait to save some money), He arrived early and was done in less than an hour. Overall, GPS did a great job; they were fast, reasonably priced and knowledgeable. Mike was very pleasant and willing to discuss other projects I had in mind, even though he was looking at a very busy day.
Description of Work: I had a burst pipe due to severe cold weather. Mike capped the pipe, as I do not need the line until summer. I live in an old house and will need to be creative with a solution. It was an ideal opportunity for someone without scruples to turn it into a huge job. GPS obviously has the customers best interest in mind.

I had been very disappointed with the plumbing contractor (not GPS plumbing!) who stanted the houses. Many things had been done wrong including the backwards installation of a pressure reduction valve, the upside down installation of a tub-shower valve, the kinking of both a copper pipe and a pex pipe, and the provision of a cold water line to a dishwasher. After talking to several new plumbers about the finish phase of the plumbing, I chose Mike of GPS plumbing because of his clear bid, his excellent communication skill, and his excellent reviews on Angie's list. I found Mike to be the brightest, most professional, and most trustworthy plumber I have ever met. Really! Here's why: Mike dealt effectively with the problems I had on these houses. He took special pains to find unusual parts which we needed, did especially hard jobs for a fair price, did fine quality work, and generally made a very satisfactory conclusion to a plumbing story that had a bad start. I found that Mike and his helper intensely want to do plumbing work to high standards - whether you are looking over their shoulders or not. For example, his young assistant (his brother-in-law) installed two bathroom lavatories so precisely that I was amazed (and very pleased). Mike took special pains with the kitchen drain and dishwasher (both with special needs), along with the repair of the kinked copper pipe mentioned above (and his charge was very reasonable for the repair which was unexpected and therefore an extra). Mike also supplied good quality small parts with his bid - things I did not know would be valuable, such as top quality toilet supply valves and expensive toilet seats. Mike steered me away from inexpensive parts which he thought questionable, too. In the end, I got excellent quality work at a competitive price by a plumber and his assistant who were cheerful, quality-driven, personable, and very good communicators. My final bill was written out clearly so that I could understand it in relation to the bids for the houses. Mike is the kind of contractor that everyone needs (for good value and good workmanship) but can seldom find. He is both experienced and personable. He is somewhat younger than the other plumbers who bid on the work, but he was the most professional in his bid presentation and communication skills. I can't know how well the others would have done the work, but I really doubt the outcome would have been as good as with Mike.

Mike charged a nominal fee for the visit. Mike is an extremely professional, knowledgeable and courteous guy. You will notice the difference immediately when you talk to him. I strongly recommend GPS plumbing.
Description of Work: Water was dripping in to the kitchen downstairs from master bath/shower. Initially I thought the problem was due to a damaged pipe as I have used the declogger solution a few days before. But, Mike identified the problem quickly. He has used a camera to look into the kitchen ceiling and confirmed that the leakage is not from a damaged pipe but was due to the damaged caulk around the edges of the shower base.

We had just purchased our new house and planned to replace the dishwasher and refrigerator before moving in. The first problem was with the refrigerator as that had an ice maker and when they connected it we discovered that the pipe leaked from inside the wall (the old refrigerator had no ice maker or water). Second problem was that the Sears installer for the dishwasher wouldn't attempt the installation because the house uses PEX piping. We called Mike and he came in and gave a reasonable estimate and told me a few things our house inspector should have caught. He and his crew came in and changed out the old PEX piping for some new PEX, improved the connections and installed the new dishwasher. Everything has been working like a charm since then!
Description of Work: Replaced two PEX water pipes and new connections for ice maker and dishwasher, plus dishwasher installation.

We had company over and soon all three of our toilets clogged. We had never had all three clogged at the same time before (one right after the other). I was in a panic and called a neighbor to get a recommendation for a plumber. She hadn't needed one yet, but she did recommend Angie's list which she is a member of. I signed up for it for one month to start with and looked up plumbers. The first and best on the list appeared to be GPS Plumbing Inc and I gave them a call. I didn't know what to expect so when I had to leave a message I did look at some of the others on the list. They didn't seem too bad, but I wanted to give my first choice a chance to respond. It wasn't long (maybe 30 - 45 minutes) before I got a call back. Mike (the owner) spoke to me and arranged to come out as soon as he finished the emergency repair he was working on. It was still quicker than I thought I could get a plumber especially on a Sunday. When he came out he was very polite and considerate (took off his shoes to keep our floors clean) and introduced himself. He started right away and asked questions as he worked about whether or not we were experiencing other problems with our plumbing other than the obviously clogged toilets. We had no problems with sinks or showers - no slow drains. He ran water to verify the sink drain had no issues. After unclogging all three toilets he gave us his diagnosis. We verified these were unclogged and listened carefully as he explained that if he left things as they were then we would very likely be calling him out again real soon for this same issue. I had thought the problem with the toilets was that they were 'low flow' and this small amount of water used was the whole reason they clogged so easily. I thought I would need to try to find a toilet that used a lot more water in order to solve the problem. Mike explained that these toilets are about the cheapest ones that contractors can get away with and they are poorly designed and don't function well. Given all the problems I've had this does explain it. He told me he could install new toilets that would work much better and still use the same amount of water as the previous ones only the new ones wouldn't need so many flushes to function as they should. He said if I got the new toilets he would waive the fee for coming out on Sunday. I got an estimate from him and asked how much more it would be for a 'comfort height' toilet like my friend had told me about. He quoted me a very good price and was patient with me as I changed my mind later and requested the other two toilets for 'comfort height' as well. He was able to come out the very next day with all three toilets and even got me the kind of toilet seats I wanted (not wood ones). The seats are very nice and can't be slammed down. After installing the toilets he even demonstrated how well they flush by putting about 9 feet of toilet paper into one of them and it had no problems with this at all. They aren't really noisy and don't appear to be all that powerful and until you see them in action it's hard to believe they're so efficient, but they are. We couldn't be happier with the new toilets and with Mike. I now plan on changing from a one month to a one year subscription on Angie's List.
Description of Work: Originally Mike (owner of GPS Plumbing Inc) came out on a Sunday to unclog all three of our toilets which he did in a very short amount of time after checking to make sure it was not an issue with our septic system. We had been having intermittent issues with the toilets clogging ever since we moved in 15 1/2 years ago. After discussing the issues with him he recommended getting new toilets. I know this may seem a bit extreme unless you've lived with toilets like these for so long. He gave us a very good price on installing new toilets which I requested as 'comfort height' for all three. He was able to come out the next day and had the job completed quickly and efficiently.

We would not hesitate to call Mike at GPS Plumbing for any plumbing project.
Description of Work: We had contacted another plumber 3 days earlier but he arrived only to tell us he didn't have time. We called Mike at GPS Plumbing on a Friday and explained that we had out of town guests coming and we were now in a jam. Mike responded with "how can I help" and was there first thing Saturday morning to install all of the plumbing for our replacement shower faucet and shower head. We had only days to close it in with tile and without GPS we never would of made it.

GPS Plumbers are awesome. They are thorough, professional, do quality work, are nice and responsible. They are very customer oriented. They returned phone calls promptly and answered all my questions. I was so impressed that Mike and Evan returned to replace my 3 toilets. I was not living in the condo at the time which helped expedite the work.
Description of Work: Mike and Evan completely repiped my entire 1900 sq ft condo including 3 bathrooms, laundry room and kitchen over 3 floors from polybutylene to PEX. They added 3 new showers valves and one tub valve. They covered the floors with plastic drape, opened up the walls where the pipes went, replaced the water lines and then brought in a drywall expert, Ryan from Mink Enterprises who did a fabulous job (another $3200) repairing walls.

I couldn't be more pleased with the service or the results. Mike contacted us immediately and was patient with us when we added jobs to the original requests. Mike showed up on time and I don't remember ever working with a contractor who was so clean and organized. I left choices of replacement fixtures to him as well as trusting him to match replacement sinks to the existing tile and am very pleased with the results. He obviously takes great pride in his work with good reason. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone considering plumbing work.
Description of Work: Replaced three sinks in upstairs bathrooms, replaced faucets, turn off valves and garbage disposal in kitchen. When I purchased this home, with the intention of remodeling the kitchen and bathrooms, I got multiple bids for replumbing the entire house. GPS was not the lowest bid, but was very competitive, and was detailed and responsive in both their estimate and in answering every question during the entire process. Working with GPS was an entirely positive experience from start to finish. They are personable, hard working and tidy. I was totally impressed by their efficiency in gutting the original plumbing and in the replacement. Mike and Evan did a great job in working through all the issues inherent with remodeling a house of this age, and were very helpful in coordinating with other contractors. Mike also provided invaluable advice and assistance in selecting replacement fixtures and faucets. When problems arose (with the pigtail to the main and with the issues created by counter and appliance installers), Mike went above and beyond to make everything work.
Description of Work: Complete re-pipe of 80 year old plumbing, including replacement of main service and installation of all new fixtures.
