It was a pleasant experience with an element of surprise.

I called Star Roofing to get an estimate for replacing my gutters as well as replacing my roof. Andrew was extremely responsive--he came out the next day, took all the measurements and sent a proposal shortly thereafter. We had a hard time getting together to discuss the project and Andrew was so great about scheduling/rescheduling and finally came out on a weekend. Unfortunately, I was unable to move forward with my project and am disappointed b/c I would've given Star Roofing my business.

Star roofing was unable to come out that day, but stated that they would be out between 8 and 9:00AM the next morning. My wife was available until 10 am that morning and no one showed up. No one called and the company did not answer their phone until the afternoon, and then it was an answering machine. They never made any follow up calls.

I originally searched out potential roofing companies with my parents' account on Angie's List before getting my own account. I had contacted T&W Home Shield, Star Roofing, CSR, Pro Roofing and State Roofing for estimates and what they recommended for my roof issue. I knew that I had rotting boards on the north side of my house. The original roofing company used OSB plywood instead of CDX when the house was built in 1994. There was very little flashing used on the roof, they did not install facia' boards or use eave flashing, which eventually caused water to go back up under the roofing material and rot the boards. I received several different recommendations from replacing only the gutters and adding facia' boards & eave flashing (State Roofing's original bid) to replacing the north half of the roof to replace the whole roof. The estimates started at about $5k for the lowest bidder to as high as $9k for the high end. State Roofing sent out a foreman who tossed their original estimate and re-quoted me for a full roof replacement after I commented that their estimator didn't feel I needed a new roof, but 4 other companies felt I did (I felt I needed a new roof also!). After comparing all the different estimates, I tossed out the lowest one and the two highest estimates and then proceeded to compare the two in the middle (CSR & Star Roofing). They were both very similar in their estimates and bids, it finally came down to giving it to a local company. I met with Rob (estimator) along with my father (for advice) and he answered all my questions and I signed all the paperwork to allow them to begin the work. One thing I was happy to learn about Star Roofing was that they do not require a pre-lien on my house. In fact, they do not require any money to be paid up front before starting the job. All payment is made after the job is inspected by me. If I am fully satisfied after the job is fully completed, they are paid. Two days later I got a call from Dave (job foreman) on Friday saying they planned to start the work on Monday. It poured rain all weekend, but Monday morning, there was a break for about 5-6 hours, so they took it and were able to remove all the old materials, removed & replaced 4 sheets of plywood (I expected this) and were able to finish about 80% of the job on Monday. Tuesday they came back out & finished the job. The roof looks great and I don't have to worry about snow damage if we get the winter the weather forecasters keep talking about. I worried that the roof would collapse where the boards were rotted & breaking apart above my deck and kitchen window. They are great company and I would definitely hire them again. Very professional. Top notch!

It went great. My three-year old son loved watching them work. The roof is a year old now and we love it. It looks fantastic, is energy efficient and we love the sound of rain on the metal roof. Their sister company installed our gutters for us. The gutters and gutter guards are working great and look good - although at the time there was a bit of difficulty scheduling and communicating with the gutter company.

The 22 year old cedar shake roof had to go and my neighbor referred me to Angie's list so I did a search of roofers based on highest rated service, number of reports, and proximity. I decided to request estimates from North Creek, Larry Haight, and Star roofing. All three came out and provided me estimates. I actually spoke with North Creek and Larry Haight and both were professional and provided detailed quotes. Rob had left their his card and received their quote via email. I compared all three and spec-wise they were very similar. Price wise North Creek and Star roofing were lower than Larry Haight. At this time I was confident that either of the three would deliver a good job. I chose Star roofing because they agreed to throw in the CertainTeed warranty for free plus a 30 day same as cash deal. The crews came in on the appointed day and worked fast and clean and completed the job in 2 days as planned. Rob came by a few days afterwards for the inspection/acceptance and we both went up the roof and we went line by line on every item listed in our contract which he pointed out and explained to my satisfaction. I am impressed with the quality of the job they did and I'm certainly proud of my new roof. The true test of the roof will be time but I'm confident it is good and with the CertainTeed warranty, I have no worries.

I chose Star Roofing after getting estimates from 2 other roofing companies. Rob the estimator was very pleasant & easy to work with. He gave us options & suggestions for the new roof. They came within a couple of weeks with a 6 man crew & completed the roof in one day. I was amazed at how fast they worked to complete the job. The next day, their inspector came & verified the roof. The roof looks great & I would recommend Star Roofing to my friends & family.

Despite intermittent rainstorms, the crews were professional, punctual and very hardworking.

I had Star roofing on my bidder list because of a friend who went through them. Andrew Ramerman was our estimator - he did a great job looking over the problems, sitting down with me to explain what would be done, and even patched up a few problems while estimating itself. He was pretty casual and knowledgeable and not at all salesy or pushy. Star was in the middle of of my three bids and I decided to go with them, mostly due to Andrew's approach with me (I was especially pleased when he fixed up things before he even knoew he would get the job). THe job itself went pretty fast. We ere inserted between schedules, so the whole re-roof was done in less than 4 days. With the exception of the ridge caps at the edge being a little off (they came back to fix them after a walkthru), the job was done well. From the tear-down to material delivery to actual installation - everything went pretty flawlessly, quickly, and cleanly. Gutter installation was much less perfect - although not horrible overall. They came late for the first scheduled time and didn't have enough time left in the day, so wanted to come back the week after. I had some driveway repaving already scheduled, so I had to push them out further. I had to repeatedly ask them to drop off some sections so I can prepaint them (they won't). They installed the gutters fine, but left a bunch of sharply cut pieces right in front of my garage door. THank god I don't have small children at home :). We rerouted a gutter, so it left a nasty gutter mark on the paint where the old section was removed. ALthough I left the paint out and it would have been very easy for them to touch it up, they just didn't. I think the gutters were installed fine, but I wasn't too happy with scheduling sloppiness and cleanliness after work. When Andrew came for the check, he went up and fixed a bunch of things without asking - including the paint to cover up the downspout mark. As always, I was impressed with his thoroughness in the walk through and going the extra mile. I strongly recommend Star for roofing jobs - although you may get a better option elsewhere for gutter re-dos.

Only received an estimate but I was very impressed the the company representative.

We took bids from three roofing companies, and although Star did not have the lowest bid, they provided the most detailed and comprehensive description of the work to be performed and instructions for us. They required no payment until the job was completed. The roofing crew arrived on time to start the job, and completed the re-roofing within three days. The crew was courteous, friendly, and spoke english. They completely cleaned up their mess every day before leaving. The roofing crew removed the old gutters and downspouts, but the new ones were to be installed by a different crew. We had to wait for about a week for the gutter crew to catch up to us, during which time our front door was behind a waterfall when it rained. When the gutter crew arrived, they needed only part of a day to do the installation. So far, the new roof has not leaked and the new gutters have not clogged. We have not had any hot weather yet to test the attic ridge vent, but it looks like it should do the job just fine. I will probably not need to replace the roof again in my lifetime.

The job went great from start to finish. We took some time to decide how much we wanted to end up paying for the job and when that was decided Star Roofing made the most sense. I also felt comfortable after reading other reviews. They were very professional and answered the many different questions we had about the job. When the material came in and they had a break in their schedule they slotted us right in. The guys were great, and really seemed proud of the work that they do. When the job was finished, it all looked great and they cleaned up well after the job was finished.

Star Roofing is a 5-Star company! Rob (estimator) is an excellent face for this company; he was pleasant, professional, knowledgeable, and highly responsive to my detailed questions. Matt runs this company like a well-oiled machine, and EVERYONE I dealt with -- from the roofing crew to various craftsmen (each with his own areas of expertise) and the QC man -- was professional and detail-oriented. Even with weather challenges, my roof, skylights, new vent system, gutters, & downspouts were all installed promptly. Star Roofing did high-quality work and went above-and-beyond to ensure everything was completed in this quality manner (Randy is a superstar!). The crew did an excellent job of cleaning up daily. I highly recommend Star Roofing to anyone seeking a top-quality roofing company!

I am not sure where to start. Our 17 year old cedar shake roof needed replacing. I contacted Star Roofing as well as 3 other roofing contractors. Rob Shouse came out and did the measurements, climbing up on the roof in a typical January Seattle downpour. He left promising a firm estimate the next day. The next day he called us and set up an appointment. He sat with me and my wife for well over an hour explaining the estimate, telling us of our various options, prices etc.. He went over the manufacturers' warranties in detail, ensuring that when he left the house, all of our questions were answered. The estimate and presentation process was very professional. Never once did I feel pressured. Star Roofing and another contractor had almost identical estimates, although the other company emailed their estimate to me and did not follow up for more than a week (well after Star had started the job). Because of the professionalism exhibited in the estimate and presentation phase of our little deal, we decided to go with Star. We signed the contract on 1/15/10 (Friday). At the time Rob told us that we would go into the queue and it might be 5-7 working days before they would be able to start, depending on the weather. On 1/18/10 (Monday) I received a call from Star telling me that they would have a crew out there that Wednesday, 1/20/10. For all intents and purpose, they were done on Friday the 22nd. Ronnie-Vonn and his crew of workers were unbelievably fast in their work, removing the cedar shakes, laying the plywood sheeting, the felt and the shingles. Every night they would spotlessly clean up after themselves. On Tuesday the 26th, Randy came out and attached the brackets for our retractable awning, just as promised. The color we picked is perfect, the product is exactly what we needed and the installation was superb. We couldn't be happier. The estimate was made on 1/11/10 and total completion of the job was on 1/26/10, including a roof walk around by one guy (don't remember his name). This was a terrific experience for a major expenditure that we made. From Rob to Randy, from A-Z, Star Roofing did a great job. The inspector from Bothell told me he thought they did a great job. Don't waste your time unless you have been a former customer. I called looking for someone to inspect and fix a roof leak and was told that they have more business than they can handle and were unable or unwilling to suggest an alternative repair service.

We saw them a couple of years ago. We kept the card and this time he did the job. He came back and gave us an estimate. It was higher than it was 3 years ago. He brought a lot of things and spent a lot of time with us. The crew is very good. They showed up on time every morning. They don?t mess around. The roof was done in 2 days. Our yard was clean. The gutter job was done a week later. We were hoping they would do it right after the roof. They had scheduled the gutter crew later. He explained that the jobs go up on the board and would be dealt with on a first come first serve basis. When ours came up, he was here. They too did not mess around. They got the job done. They were good people. The roof job was done just in the nick of time. They did a good job. He pointed out things we knew were bad. He pointed out to my husband how really bad it was. He was not trying to pull our leg. He knew it was bad. He showed us why we should get it fixed. It was going to cause huge problems down the road. I used to always look at that one corner and think that any day it would cause problems. I don?t have these worries now. They were thorough and knowledgeable. They knew what they were doing.

We met with Rob Shouse to discuss our roofing needs as well as talk about what we were looking for in a new roof. Rob made some recommendations as well as provided some guidance on what would work for us, what would hold up long-term and what would add value to our home. We also met with several other roofing companies and while all had their merits, we ultimately decided to go with Star Roofing due to our meeting with Rob, the recommendations he provided as well as what Star Roofing included standard in their roofing jobs v. what the other bidders were providing (or not providing standard). We had good advance knowledge of the start and finsh dates; the team that removed and installed our new roof was professional and they did an excellent job. They were on the job site by 8:00 AM and worked until darkness and completed the removal and install in less than a week. They cleaned up as best as they could on a daily basis, and although it was extremely wet, did as good a job as possible of not completely trashing our yard. When the job was complete, they cleaned up great and Rob met with us to go over the job and make sure we were happy and ensure they would address one small cosmetic item we wanted fixed. Over the years we've done substantial work on the homes we've owned - from new roofs, new bathrooms, new floors and large scale additions and Rob and his team compare very favorably to the best construction teams that we've hired and worked with. Thanks to Rob, Matt and his team for a job well done.

We obtained quotes from 5 different companies- price-wise, Star Roofing was right in the middle. We chose them because of the excellent service we received from Rob- he was not pushy whatsover and really took the time to explore all of our options, the advantages and disadvantages of certain products, and what would best meet our needs. The roof itself was completed in 48 hrs, which is fast, and yet the workmanship was excellent, it was not as if it was rushed in any way. The crew worked very hard and you would hardly know that they had been there at the end of the day because they did such an excellent clean-up job. Two weeks later they came out to install our new gutters, which also went very well. Rob did a great job of following up with us to make sure that we were satisfied with the work. Overall, a very positive experience and they made what could possibly be a very intimidating and stressful process very easy.

Rob Shouse was the contractor that we worked with and he was outstanding. He informed me about everything and gave me detail proposals and even came several times and left samples of the roofing material, so I could choose. He came here a number of times to check on the work when it was going on and corrected something that they were not doing right. He was on top of the project nicely. Their prices were a little on the higher side, but it was worth it for the work and quality they did.

A large branch has torpedoed the roof. A few months later... :) I heard a tinkling noise in the garage. I noticed the leak!

Fast, efficient, and good with clean up!

Prompt quote, fair price (especially compared to competitors), very good communication. We had the work done while we were gone on vacation, and only saw the work crew once, just as they were finishing up. We walked the roof before and after. Good Workmanship. When I pointed out the need for a bathroom vent, they offered to come back and install it anytime, free of charge. I only found 3 rubber bands they missed on clean up. I got exactly what i expected. I used to work in the construction field, and know enough to realize when i'm being scammed or when poor work is done. Star did not try to sell me things i did not need, did good work and cleaned up very well. I highly recommend them.

Some went well and some not so. The actual shingling part of the roofing job was fine, though most of the workers did not speak English. My husband had to communicate through the foreman only. The parts that were a problem were a bathroom skylight that was not reinstalled properly and actually blew off the roof in a wind and rain storm, allowing both heat to escape and water to come in. Also, it took a very long time to get the gutter work done, as we were told after the fact that since we had to fascia to attach to, they could only do the work when they had their special van available. That took a very long time. In addition, there were many old roofing or gutter nails left in teh grass, and we mowed over them before realizing they were there. All that said, the company honored a price estimate nearly a year after they gave it, and it was competitive for the work that needed to be done. They were immediately on the job to replace the skylight with a new one first thing in the morning, in spite of a lot of storm damage in the area. The owner of Star Roofing was responsive and explained that the gutter company is co-located and works together with Star, but isn't exactly the same company. However, he worked with us to get the gutter issues resolved because he agreed that their performance reflected on his company, too.

The sales representatives were helpful and prompt. The estimator worked with our schedule and met us at our home. The estimate of work and materials was detailed, and the estimator was very helpful in explaining the options. After 4 estimates, we selected Star Roofing as an established roofer who uses high-quality materials but charges several thousand less than the most expensive quote of comparable quality. Two quotes were somewhat lower but with sub par materials and venting options. They finished the job in only 2 days, plus a third day for the gutters. They cleaned up each day, leaving virtually no trash. We are extremely happy with the results. The only quibble was that they did not tell us the exact day they were going to start.
