It was wonderful!

This was an EXCELLENT experience. Clay was a real professional -- communicative, reliable, friendly, and knowledgeable. He answered all questions patiently and thoroughly -- both before securing the job and after. He visited our home, did a thorough inspection of the deck's substructure and surmised that it was structurally sound (which was later confirmed after the floorboards were removed). He offered excellent technical information about the various composite products on the market and showed many pictures of the decks he had built for other customers. Clay's wasn't the lowest bid or the highest, but after our initial conversations -- both on the phone, over email, and in person -- and after speaking with a number of the customer references he supplied, I was convinced that he was the man for the job. He often works alone, which likely lengthens the time to complete jobs, but the positive tradeoff is that he's a true craftsman with extremely high quality standards who works methodically and with great attention to detail. Clay is a friendly and mild-mannered individual who was very easy to work with. He arrived when he said he would and worked hard during periods of rain and shine. His wife joined him when he needed an extra hand, and she offered some helpful guidance when we were debating the railing color to select. And the results are fantastic. Our deck looks great, and I've already had multiple neighbors comment on its beauty and ask me for Clay's contact information. I didn't need this validation, but it was nice to hear, especially since the feedback came from neighbors who have discerning taste and who are sticklers for hiring quality contractors. If it wasn't already obvious, I highly recommend Advanced Decks & Rails !!

The owner of Advanced Deck and Rails is Clay Kastler. He is the ultimate professional. He works by himself and is a perfectionist. He was always easy to reach and answered all our questions. Without a doubt we would use him again. We have already given out his business card to neighbors If you want precise work then he is your guy. He was not the lowest bid but we would pay the extra again without question.

My experience can be summed up in three letters: WOW! I am 70 and have many contracted home jobs performed for me in the past. I have never had an experience as amazing as this. The contractor always showed up on time and worked efficiently. He was excellent at communicating with us. He was very clear about what he was going to do and how he was going to do it. He had several good ideas that I had not thought of, such as the type of material to use, the pattern for layout, the gate location, etc. His wife was a great help in color selection also. Decks is what these people do and they really know their stuff! I am so glad I went with a deck specialist and not a general contractor. The contractor was quite pleasant to deal with and very responsive, not to mention very considerate of the neighbors. I would not hesitate at all to use him again in the future, but the quality of the work was so high I doubt I will need his services again for several years.

He did excellent work and we are very please with the results. The cost was reasonable and very fair. He kept us informed through the whole process. He was on time, prompt, courteous and very professional.

We are very impressed with the craftsmanship and final product as well as the price for the service rendered.

Clay provided references and pictures of work performed, and in doing so, helped us improve the design of our deck. He allowed us to split the construction into 2 phases to assist with landscaping and fiscal concerns - framing and benches, then decking and fascia. He responded with professionalism and courtesy to all of our questions and requests. He went out of his way to make sure that all elements of the job were done right. This included performing tasks that were not included as part of his original bid, at no additional cost. His work was top quality, from start to finish. He is a true Craftsman in every sense. We have recommended him to our friends, and now are recommending him to Angie's List!

I'm replacing a large, two level deck. The owner came out and took measurement and said he'd have an estimate in a couple of days. Never heard from him again. It's been about three weeks.

AWESOME !! I originally wanted a trex railing and he gently talked me into a metal rail. I am still a VERY HAPPY customer afer 5 years ! The rail is amazing - very easy to keep clean. No rust - I just can not say enough about the rail. Clay was great to work with because I was determined to use a trex railing and now I am VERY GRATEFUL that I did not do that. My trex deck is not looking to great after 5 years - blotchy, moldy and yes we clean it every year.

I phoned and requested a return call to discuss a deck project and got no response.

Look no further! You have found your deck company! The experience with Advanced Decking was superb in every way. Clay (the owner) is a consumate gentleman and professional. It is a pleasure to work with him. While he made recommendations,they never involved trying to persuade us to spend more money, and he was willing to modify his bid in order to save us some money. Once the job began, and more than expected rot was discovered, most of the additional work Clay did for free. This is one really classy and highly skilled individual. His two assistants, Kevin and Ray, were also a pleasure to work with. You always had the feeling that all of them were treating your home as if it were their own. The job took about seven days. They showed up on time and did a good job of cleaning up each day. They also volunteered to dismantle an old large wooden swing set and haul that and other some other thingsaway free of charge except for the disposal fee. We had no criticisms of them or the job they did. We thoroughly enjoyed our contact with Clay and his crew and were actually sorry to see them go. This is a small company that only does decks and rails. Clay does the bids and is there to work each day. This is not a large oufit which does siding, roofs, fences, and then does decks as well. Clay and crew are specialists and it shows in their work. We were 100% satisfied. You really need to look not further to find your decking company.

This was a great project. Clay and Kevin arrived on Monday morning and had the old deck down that day. They removed it to their trailer for hauling away. Second day they replaced the old joist for proper spacing. Also built the new stairs. Dunn Lumber delivered the new Azek decking that afternoon. They moved and stacked the new decking on wood to keep it up off the grass. They started to lay the new deck that afternoon. Next day, they finished the decking and started building the benches. Final day, they finished the benches and anchored them. Installed the lattice to the front of the deck. They cleaned up and swept off the new deck. I was extremely happy with this project and Clay (the owner), who also worked on the project, was a very nice and professional person. I highly recommend him to anyone wanting it done right!

Clay had replaced our front porch and stairs earlier in the month. We were extremely well pleased and asked him to also replace our rotting back deck. He and Ray cleaned out the old structure, some of which was 38 years old. All the debris was hauled away and he saved us quite a bit of money by showing us that the treated wood used on the extension a few years ago was perfectly fine. It looked great even to us, so that part of the substructure did not need to be replaced. He and Ray took five and a half days to build the new portion of substructure and lay a 16'x20' Azek composite decking. Clay has expertise in working with composites and that is what we wanted. He listened carefully to what I requested for my old fashioned "cottage garden" deck and had excellent ideas that I had not thought of. He is extremely easy to work with and he and Ray are meticulous in their work. Precision is evident in every aspect. He accommodated my indecision as to whether or not to re-install my old arbor. He put it back up, I looked at it with fond memories and decided it was just too old and he simply took it back down for me and his assistant Ray will be building me a new one. He searched high and low to find me a railing that matched my old one. It was not easy to find but he did it and I absolutely love the one installed. Clay and Ray were professional, knowledgeable, kindly, efficient, meticulous and well-priced. I would recommend Advanced Decks and Rails to anyone and in fact have already given their company name to two other friends who need deck work done.

We could not be happier. I began writing this recommendation before they had even left the drive after completing the work. We had an estimate a week and a half ago and they began the work Wed. 1/30/2013. They just finished this afternoon, three days later on 2/1/2013. Because the old porch and stairs were so bad, they had to make many adjustments in construction. The stairs were first constructed in the 70's and were far too steep and narrow. The railing spacing of the old was not up to code. They extended the stairs out further, making them far more graceful and manageable for old knees and the railings have the requisite 4" spacing. They were knowledgeable about composites and their use. They gave good advice at every turn. I was kept informed by e-mail and phone on scheduling so we could move our car out of the way and leave the house as needed. The finished work is beautiful and beyond what we expected. Both men were polite, personable, experienced and professional. We want to redo our back deck too and they gave an estimate on that as well. We are planning on having Clay and Ray do that work in the latter part of the month. I highly recommend them, their work and their pricing.

Excellent Experience! We got five bids and Clay Kastler's bid was lower than all the others but that was not the main reason we picked Clay's company to build our new decks. When we talked to each person who provided us with a bid, it became very clear to us that Clay was the most knowledgeable and experienced and he also had excellent references. We were extremely pleased with Clay's professionalism, highest quality of work, and ethics. We highly recommend him to anyone who is planning to build a new deck or replace an existing one.

From beginning to end, our experience with Advanced Decks was great. Clay was punctual for the first meeting and every meeting thereafter. He explained our options during the initial meeting, and demonstrated a thorough knowledge of the techniques and materials involved in building a composite deck. The bid that we received was about the amount we expected (composite is expensive!). We got a complete breakdown of the cost for each portion of the job, including tear down, framing, decking, and railing. The bid also included cost breakdowns for several different materials that we were interested in. Once we decided to go forward, the work was scheduled two weeks out, and the estimate was that the job would take 6 days. Clay and his crew showed up exactly when they said they would, and began work. The crew was very professional, respecting our property and our neighbors. They even worked well with our dogs in the back yard. They finished almost two days ahead of schedule, and upon the final inspection I couldn't find a single nail or screw out of place. We are very happy with the finished product, which is solid, straight, level and clean. Highly recommended all the way around.
