Norman from South County Plumbing came out to do an initial bid on the work during the summer. We had a temporary fix in place that we intended to use until the fall, as the water supply line runs under our driveway and through our blueberry bushes, which we did not want to disturb until post-harvest. Initially Norman had said we would need to remove one of the bushes in order to get the boring equipment in place to run the new line. We looked over all our estimates as blueberry season ended and narrowed it down to two. We asked Norman if he could look at some other scenarios for his boring equipment placement. He came over right away and thoroughly surveyed the area around the water meter and came up with an option that avoided removing any bushes or any fencing. And he committed to staying at his original bid amount--which was the lowest and included adding a new water shut-off outside the house. The new shut-off was his idea. He just thought it made more sense to have a shut-off that any family member could get to in an emergency--instead of having to squirm through the entire length of the house in the crawl space to reach the current shut-off. We called to schedule the work, and he got back to us with an early date. They notified the local utilities to come out and mark all underground wiring and pipes. Norman came out on his own to verify they had all done their marking the day before he was scheduled to start. The day of the installation, he was there first thing with his assistant digging the hole for the new shut-off. Although they had to wait quite a while for the boring equipment to arrive (subcontracted) they still completed the project before the end of the day. Norman was very conscientious about making sure we understood how everything worked with the new line, and was very good at answering questions and explaining his experience with various product options. South County met or exceeded all of our expectations, and we will not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced water supply line and installed new water shut-off for house.

I was very pleased. Much better than my last experience with a plumber. I called Sunday night with an emergency. Talked with Les who was very pleasant and informative, and who told me it would cost twice as much for him to come out Sunday than if I waited for Monday. Once the panic subsided, I decided to wait the extra 18 hours and save the money to apply to the new toilet.
Description of Work: The main line drain between my house and street clogged up resulting in water backing up into tub and shower and onto the floor. They sent a plumber out who removed my toilet and snaked the drain out about 100 feet, removing some tree roots about 60 feet out that were the problem. Since my toilet was cracked I purchased a new one from Home Depot and had him replace the old with the new as a part of the work.

I was exceptionally pleased with their service. There was one only one plumber out of 6 that recommended that I checkout Angie's list and get a discount for the work that needed to be done. The detail that they have to do to get to the pipe is incredible. I will use this company in the future, and I highly recommend their work.
Description of Work: I had to have a new line put in since the original line was the old wire tubing that cracks.

They were more than willing to come out. The guy who came out did the job well, and cleaned up after himself. He did what he said he was going to do in the time he said he was going to do it in. There was a little problem because he hadn’t hooked it up correctly. He figured it out, came back, and fixed it up right away. I guess that had to do more with the way the unit had been originally hooked up. We haven’t had any issues since then. It ended up being a little more expensive than I anticipated but that is always the case these days. I paid him $1800 for all the work he did. Generally speaking, I felt we got reasonable value for the money.
Description of Work: We used South County Plumbing to install a new hot water heater. He had to de-install the old heater to begin with. He estimated the draining of the tank to take 4 hours - and it took about 4 hours. We took advantage of that time and he did some other plumbing work like setting a sink, and since we have a unique house, he also did some custom plumbing.

Not Well, I learned from this, but now I feel strange about calling a plumber because I don't know how to avoid getting abused when I really needed help.
Description of Work: I called South County Plumbing because so many people here on Angie's List had said good things about them. My bathroom sink drain was running very slow and girgling also there was extremely dark water coming from my bath faucet sometimes. In addition one of the toilets was often getting plugged. Tim came to the door at the scheduled time, which was very soon after calling the company. He asked what the issue was and I told him. He walked into the two different bathrooms, was back in that part of the house for less than 3 minutes - not taking any equipment back there. And then walked out and said he was finished and ready to go. I was shocked. I asked what he had done. He said he pulled some hair from the drain in the master bedroom, and that he couldn't do anything at all about either the toilet that clogs frequently or the dark water since neither are happening now. He charged the company minimum for making a call which was about $175, I don't remember exactly. And was gone in much less than 5 minutes. I will never use them again, and in fact I still have the dark water issue and the toilet that clogs often because I am now plumber shy as I feel I have been abused and can't seem to figure out how to avoid that happening in the future.

They quoted a different price on the phone. They made it seem that the labor was included with the quote given over the phone but then they charged extra for the labor later. I was not happy with that but the work they did was fine.

I called and scheduled an appointment and they gave me a window of time. I was called that morning to be informed that they were running a bit late, which I appreciated. The technician explained to me what was going to be involved in replacing the hose bibs. In one case it meant cutting into a wall inside the house to access the plumbing for that faucet. For the other it meant crawling around under the house. The new hose bibs are excellent and all the water goes into the hose, instead of all over the place!
Description of Work: Replaced two hose bibs, both of which included awkward access to get the old one out.

A pole was driven into the ground to support a fence which severed the water line (blue line). South County Plumbing dug three holes to check the electric, gas and utilities. They also dug a trench that was 1x8 feet long to hook up the new pipe to the meter. They also drilled a 60 ft hole under the garage and yard to put the new line in.

The drain line from our septic tank to the drain field was completely blocked with roots and dirt. He saved me a lot of money by encouraging me to have the digging done by temp labor instead of at plumber's rates. Then he was able to come in and lay the new pipe in very short order.

We had a fowl smell in our house, so it was South County Plumbing to the rescue. When Kurt and Jesse arrived on Thursday, Kurt bet that it was a dead critter under the house. Oh, how I wish it had been! The crawl space lid, in the coat closet was very swollen. When it was opened, holy cow, FOWL! There was raw sewage in the crawl space. Kurt gave me the number for a contractor for water damage to get that cleaned up right away and gave me his cell phone number for that contractor. Within a couple hours that clean up began, on a 80 degree day. About 80 gallons of waste were removed, along with a couple inches of soil. It was sprayed and new tarp layed for my heros to come the next day. Kurt came right on time the next morning and went to work. These guys treated my home like it was their own...or better. Thank you. Kurt kept me up to date as he came across things. A sixty year old home. Jessie dug outside to reach the waste line needing to take apart a raised flower bed. Kurt showed me all the wasted parts he came across. The waste line and the copper piping under the house were in bad shape. Damage caused by electrolisys, fiberglass insulation wrapped around the copper lines caused pin p**** holes in the copper over the years. The toilet in the main bath was removed and a hole cut in the wall behind. Kurt knew the waste line was toast and surely had to be replaced. The owner even came by. I told Kurt the expansion tank was blown, I had a leak under my bathroom sink and as long as we were so far in I asked if he would hook me up a line for my icemaker. He was happy to oblidge because on Monday we had a few crews here from the shop. These men worked their tails off without hardly stopping all day. Major digging was done on the side of my house and out in the front yard, bringing out the big riding toys. My landscaping was tied back with care. More landscaping bricks were moved. The new waste line was fed foot by foot from the back of the house to the front bursting through the old concrete line to connect it to the sewer. The guys put in a check valve that the City of Lynnwood supplied. Others were replacing pipe under the house while others were replacing the toilet, fixing my leak in the bathroom sink pipe and making the hot water tank a Cadilac out of a Ford (putting a proper water shut off in place and a new expansion tank and a drain pan.) I got my water line for my icemaker and last but not least, water to a dry water faucet on the front of my house. I wish I could name each of these wonderful men because each and every one of them were gentlemen and very professional. The lead man, Kurt, kept everything running smoothly and was on top of every project going on, along with getting his hands right in there. The clean up was great, it barely looks like anyone was here working. Thank you South County Plumbing! I will refer you to my family and whoever will listen.
Description of Work: Complete waste line was replaced from the back of the house out to the main city line. Kurt, the lead plumber, and his crew diverted the line to go to the side of the house that was accessable, rather than tearing up the driveway. Two thirds of the copper piping was replaced under the house. A leak was fixed in the wall behind the hot water tank, along with the replacement of the expansion tank. Leak under the bathroom sink was fixed. Icemaker line was installed to our refridgerator.

Work took longer than he thought it should have taken him so he charged for only an hour of holiday work instead of two. This was appreciated and built good will. Thorough with clean up and pleasant plumber. In order to break through the clog, which was probably halfway between the house and the street, he had to use a large, mechanical snake. He was surprised at the tenacity of the clog too.

First thing Monday morning my wife called up South County Plumbing. Not 5 minutes later the guy was knocking at the door. Really. 5 minutes. He brought a shop vac and got all the water out, then took apart the drain trap and rootered out the drain line. He was careful not to spill anything and left a clean repair, tested for leaks. He was here exactly an hour.

I called and Norman was able to come over that evening to diagnose why water was leaking out the side of our house. It was the line to our icemaker, so he shut that off for the night. He came back in a couple of days to suit our schedule and replaced the plastic line with a copper one. He's really nice and professional. No problems!

I noticed water was coming out of my front yard flower bed and thought I had a cracked pipe. I checked Angie's List in hopes of finding a good plumber the first time and not have to look for others because I unfortunately was in panic mode on a Sunday morning. I called South County and Tim showed up in 20 minutes in which I was very impressed. He took a look at the issue and did concur there was a leak in the pipe and I would have to replace it. He quoted me the amount which I thought was very high, but felt from reading on Angie's List that others have experienced South County Plumbing come under their estimate, especially since he didn't do any specific measuring on how much copper pipe was needed. I unfortunately decided to use him and explained I noticed there was a 10% discount on this site. He said he'd have to check that when he comes back the next day. He said he'd start work at 9a and it should take a day to do. He came the next morning at 1030a, an hour and a half late and started. 2 guys came and used a machine to drill a hole under ground for the pipe. The main is located less than 20 feet from the house and there's no extreme obstacles between the house and the main, so the job was very straight forward. The drilling took about 1.5 hours. Tim finished his part around 1p and sat in his truck until the inspector showed up at 330p to sign off on it. I find it hard to believe it would cost almost $4000 for 5.5 hours of work. Copper piping < 20 ft can't be that expensive. He said the machine was the most expensive, but I feel I could have bought the machine for the price. I called him to explain the bill in detail as I felt he should've come down from the estimate. He didn't provide anything. I advised the 10% off and he wouldn't honor it saying that was for basic service even though I don't see anywhere on this site that it specifically says it's for basic jobs. He did give me a $100 off coupon "from the phone book" but that still doesn't make me feel any better. I asked him to provide a detailed breakdown of why he believes the price was fair and reasonable and he said he'd send it the next day. Three weeks have passed and he still never has sent anything. The morale of the story is to get estimates from other companies on this site regardless of how they're rated and just let the water leak. The water bill will be cheaper than having to pay for this rip off.

We had purchased a replacement Insinkerator kitchen hot water tap water heater; the original water heater had begun leaking. I originally thought I would do the replacement, but on further evaluation, the area was far too tight and the connections a little problematic. We called South County Plumbing because of very positive prior experiences. Norman, the assigned plumber, arrived prior to his 8 a.m. appointment, went to work, finished the job in one hour, which was estimated, at the price estimated. South County has again met our high expectations for a professional, timely, no-hassle service experience. We will call them every time!
