+ -1 moreI heard about them through a friend and they did a great job. I had a good experience with them and they were more reasonable than the dealership. They explained things very well. They lent me a car so I have transportation while my car was in the shop for three days. They were fast and easy to deal with. They also have a good follow up.

+ 0 moreWell let me say that KC Martin was recommended to me from a couple of different people for transmission work and boy howdy where they RIGHT about KC Martin. They did a very quick and very very honest and thorough job on fixing my cars transmission. They were very honest with what was wrong with it and it turned out that what I thought was wrong with it wasn't even close as to what they discovered was wrong with it and I have pretty extensive knowledge on auto repair etc. So it was quit a relief to have them honestly diagnose and repair what was wrong with my transmission with a lot less of a hit to my already straining pocket book. I highly recommend KC Martin to anyone who is looking for excellent and honest, isn't trying to rip you off, auto repair! So Good Karma to all the and quot;Guysand quot; at KC Martin for what they do and how they conduct business.

+ 0 moreMy mechanic referred me to KC to repair a transmission on my Honda Accord. The transmission had failed and required a rebuild. They initially worked extremely quickly, but I discovered they had removed my transmission and replaced it with a rebuilt transmission from another vehicle. Apparently, this usually works for them, but the transmission they put in was a lemon. I took it back as soon as I could (the next morning) and requested that they rebuild MY transmission. They did, and following this I had no trouble. While it ended it well, the whole experience was extremely taxing. I would never want them to give me the same type of transmission from a different vehicle instead of my own rebuilt just to save a day or two without a car. They offered a loaner anway. If I had not been there at the time when they were replacing it, seeing my transmission on a table, and my car driving out of the garage, and knowing something wasn't as expected, I would have never known this. I think they are ok to repair transmissions, but make clear that you want YOUR transmission rebuilt, and not accept one off the shelf from who knows where.

+ -1 moreThe prices are much more reasonable than dealership prices. Rather than upsell you, they will talk with you about alternatives for lowering your costs. The service has a high quality feel and finish to it. Their interactions with customers are informal and folksy, which I happen to like. I have brought cars in with symptoms that could lead to the replacement of a serpentine belt, timing belt, and other kinds of and quot;big costand quot; repairs. Each time K C Martin has fixed the problem without seizing the opportunity to milk every last dollar from me. I like these guys so much that the last time I went in, I brought them donuts. One last note -- if you are an Automobile Club member (AAA), they offer a 10% discount. They enter the AAA card number in their files, and after that you get the discount without having to produce your card. A great, reliable, old-school no-fuss shop.
Description of Work: I've used K C Martin at least four times now, as I have two cars that are each more than 10 years old. In my most recent visit, I simply had a bunch of taillights and brake lights out. I was puzzled about why I couldn't figure out how to just replace the light bulb. I didn't want to lose the car for a whole day just to get bulbs replaced, so I called them the day before and they made an appointment for me to get the car fixed on a "while you wait" basis. They performed the repair punctually and efficiently, and explained that someone had actually removed the sockets for the lights. That's why I couldn't fix it myself (and that's what happens when a guy at Grease Monkey offers to "fix" it for you). In another encounter, we seemed to have a dead battery. The fix was minor and they decided to charge us nothing for their time! Another visit involved electrical problems with the car that manifested as power locks not working, power sun roof getting stuck in a half-open position, etc. I feared this would turn into a major labor effort looking for shorts in wiring, etc. They traced the problem to a fuse and the repair cost much less than I anticipated.

They are very patient to explain to me what needs to repair arnd why. I felt they are trust worthy. I also liked that I was able rent a car while my car was in the garage. I will go back again.

Description of Work: They serviced an electrical/turn-signal issue on my daughter's car. They took the console apart, but couldn't officially find the short. The signal was working, and they told her to come right back if it ever stopped working again. They did not charge her for this visit.

+ -1 moreThey knew what was wrong. They knew about manufacturer recalls and what needed to be done in rebuilding the transmission so that the problem wouldn't happen again. They had it done when they said they would and they were on estimate. They weren't trying to go for the big money right off the bat. They are very informal. They honor their estimates, know their stuff and talk to you. My SUV runs and it will probably run another 5 years.
Description of Work: We took our 10 year old SUV that had a transmission that died to K C Martin Automotive Service. They rebuilt the transmission.

Description of Work: The guys at KC Martin really know their stuff. They are straightforward, upfront businessmen. I had an electronic sensor go out on my 1999 Dodge Durango. It would cause the vehicle to stall out and quit running in the middle of intersections, at stoplights, etc. They were able to diagnose it and give me an estimate quickly. They replaced the sensor, Gave me an oil change and a tune-up the same day I dropped it off. It now drives like a new car again! Will definetly take my car and my wifes car to KC Martin from now on. Description of Work: Background: we were referred to KC Martin when one of our cars failed an emissions test 6 or so years ago. it turned out the problem was an improperly sealed gas tank lid - they fixed, reset the vehicle computer to clear the red light and didn't charge of anything for it. we've been back many times since. Most recent experience: front disk brake locked on our pickup. used AAA to have it towed to KC Martin. we were expecting the worst line complete rotor replacement, etc but they determined it was a less serious hose problem. the truck in almost old enough to vote so this wasn't a surprise. cost to repair was under their estimate and done in a timely manner.

They did a great job, finished when they said they would and even came in a little less than they quoted me. The folks at KC Martin were proffessional and personable. They treated her with respect, and also did a great job! She's had issues with service people talking down to her as a woman. They explained everything they were going to do , did it on time, charged a fair price and she was so pleased she goes back to them for everything now! + 0 moreWe have taken vehicles to them where we thought we had a major thing going on. They had found something extremely minor and fixed our problem. We thought we would have to replace the tires but they found some minor thing. It was a lot less money than we had expected. We've almost always gotten our car back exactly when they said we'd have it back. They are good at estimating at how long it's going to take for them to fix it and get it back. The last time when we went was with our daughter's car and she left it with us and took my car back to her place. We dealt with her car because we knew we had this great relationship with this great mechanic. She left the car in our care to get it taken care off. He is an honest mechanic.

+ 0 moreI have been going to them for years and every time that I went to the other service providers, I would not have a good experience. I could not say enough about how great they are. I would grade them very highly in every category. They have a branch in Lynn wood and they have another one called K C Martin Transmission. It is the same business but depends on the nature of the work that I want done. I have been to both their branches and they have both done a great job. It cost a little over than $100 during my last visit. Their price is less than $50 for the tuning. I have two vehicles and last year I spent more than $1000 for front axles on the Honda and tune up kind of things.
Description of Work: I have used the services of K C Martin Automotive Service in November or December 2011 for the standard oil change and maintenance of my car. I also had them look into a couple of the other things. I had a heater hose that burst and I had replaced it myself which did not work. I had them check it to make sure of the quality of what I had replaced it with.

+ -1 moreThe PCV valve, fuel filter and serpentine belt were replaced. The cooling system was serviced as well as the automatic transmission. The lube, oil and filter was also performed but the main reason for taking my truck in was not addressed. My leaking oil cooler lines were not replaced only a note that they are seeping. I had told the technician when I made the appointment and it was the first item on the paper work that went with the key when I dropped it off. This is not the first time I have had a problem with KC Martin, after a few years of not using their services I thought I would give them another chance....but now it looks like it was the last chance.
Description of Work: I took my truck in for the oil cooler hoses to be replaced during a 120,000 mile service because they are starting to leak.

+ -1 moreIt's a large shop; they have key hooks on the wall numbered from 1 to 185, and it was about half full on my visit. The man at the counter was polite and professional, and the work was quality. I decided to schedule a repair on my jeep after this experience.
Description of Work: I had the wheel bearings serviced on my boat trailer. Discount Tire had recommended KC Martin for this work. Everything went well from scheduling to completion. They found one bad bearing and replaced it, as requested, at a fair price.

+ -1 moreAfter my good experience with KC Martin two days prior, in which they serviced the wheels on my boat trailer, I decided to bring my jeep here for a couple of things. I was pleased with my experience once again. My brakes checked out fine, but they sanded the brake pads to eliminate the squeak, which it did. The suspension needed two sway bar connecting rods replaced, which they performed, and it drives like new again. All for a fair price and done in the amount of time promised.
Description of Work: Brake inspection due to squeaky brakes, and front suspension checkout due to a rattling sound when I go over bumps in my jeep.
