I hired Bodine for a basement interior drain installation and floor seal for my triplex. If we'd only done the basement drain, this would be an A review. We had some communication breakdowns, but the on-site staff was impeccably neat, courteous, and (as a non-expert), the work looked solid and was done in a timely fashion. They also kindly drilled weepholes at no charge. Our experience for the floor sealing, unfortunately, was one of the worst contracting experiences I’ve ever had in my life. * Bodine was schedule to seal my basement flooring, using a product that rendered the entire triplex effectively uninhabitable due to the horrible, nasty fumes. They at no point checked if anyone was actually living in the house, or to notify me that it would not be healthy or safe to be sleeping there so I could make advance arrangements to sleep elsewhere. Their staff apparently did not make a connection between seeing me every morning at 7:30 AM and the fact that I actually lived there. When I came home late at night, I was shocked by and scared the density of the fumes in the air upstairs. But I had nowhere else to go at that point, so I just had to open some windows and hoped for the best. * The triplex Bodine worked in is in a high-crime area of Capitol Hill, and a building that was completely burglarized and ransacked last fall. They left a single basement window completely wide open overnight without checking, through which any one of the hundreds of neighborhood transients could have walked into the house. They put in no ventilation fan whatsoever until I called them up, read him the riot act, and he immediately installed one. * Despite a construction crew visibly working in the house every single day (letting the crew into and out of the house), Bodine did not communicate to us in advance that they were performing work that would leave the air so unbreathable that our crew absolutely refused to enter the house out of health concerns Bodine’s lack of communication resulted in our losing two full days worth of work and blowing our contractor and sub schedule. Had we known this, we would never have scheduled this work with Steve’s company while a construction crew was trying to finish up a construction project and get out. * And when they needed to return the next day to finish, they indeed let themselves into through that same security-risk window they left open - triggering a monitored security alarm system. The e-mails from the company staff (excepting Tee, the awesome admin assistant) were generally indecipherable during this high-stress experience. We're talking voice dictation gibberish. Let me quote an example: and quot; How you like yeah the smell will be a little strong for the first couple hours day or so to come in tomorrow put another very light coat on to some kind of weak areas and just leave a couple windows and doors new windows still at letterand quot;. To me, the lack of awareness of the consequences of the chemical products they use for their customers was really the most damning part of the experience. When I asked the crew member who called me when it would be truly safe to enter my own home again - he literally said he didn't know and couldn't actually even answer. When I allow a contractor to install toxic chemicals into my home, there is a degree of trust that they are going to take appropriate steps to manage their impact on my home. In this case, this trust was clearly misplaced. While I have substantial further moisture mitigation work that needs to be done on the house, and had planned to hire Bodine to complete it, I’m afraid they’ve lost the remainder of my business. If I’m shelling out the money, I want a contractor who understands that they’re here first and foremost to solve the needs of human clients — they’re not just here to work on a house and ignore the owner’s needs.

In June Steve Bodine came out and did an assessment regarding the seepage into the basement. He was familiar with how the homes were built in the area and verified that a footing drain system was placed around the exterior perimeter of the concrete foundation when the home was originally constructed in 1952. They started with a flow dye testing that was done to entry walkway and within 20 minutes seepage through crack in foundation was viewed. They viewed with a video pipe camera that two footings were cracked so the water was not going into the footing drain system and the other three downspouts were rerouted poorly into the french drain. There was also standing water in the entryway that they would have to address. Along with the foundation crack that was easily repaired inside but outside required saw cutting the stamped concrete and excavating soil to the base of foundation, which was digging 6 feet down. We received the bid with a set of plans that showed locations of all the work that needed to be done: Damaged footings repaired Five downspouts redirected into the footing drain system Saw cut stamped concrete, excavate soil down to base of foundation, repair crack and install bituthene barrier and filter fabric faced drainage composite up foundation wall, backfill remaining soil and replace concrete. Although our original concrete was stamped they let us know that due to age and texture the new concrete would not match. However, we found some leftover concrete color mix and they did a very good job at matching it. Installed two yard drain basins in the front entryway to correct standing water and connected them to the footing drain system. High pressure water used to test system several times. Steve, the office staff to schedule job and workers at our home were all very professional. They did a fantastic job and returned the area back to our original condition. It has been 4 years and over 141 inches of rain thru 2013 (per Komo News) and the basement is still dry!!!!
Description of Work: Prior to Bodine coming in the Summer of 2010 to assess the problem of seepage into the basement we had spent over $5,000 in 2008 to another company to have the water from three downspouts redirected into a french drain that they dug in our yard. The french drain did not keep our basement dry and after two years of renting a wet vac, fans to dry wall-to-wall carpet and putting up with the stench for months and months we called Bodine Construction. Steve Bodine came out to assess the seepage into the basement.

Our 1960 house has a footer drain that likely hadn't been working in years. The first big rain storm we had, we had water coming through the concrete in our daylight basement. One company we originally talked to said that we should re-run our gutter downspouts since that was probably the source of the problem. They said if that didn't fix it, they could install a sump pump. They noted that ideally, they would install a footer drain, but the cost for that would be really high. Not only did they not realize we already had a footer drain, their quote would have made it worse. Steve Bodine came by, within 5 minutes figured out we already had a footer drain that was likely clogged, and came up with a plan to fix it. They installed two access points for us, scoped, and pressure washed the inside of the footer. It worked great for the rest of the season, then clogged again (which is typical for old footers that have recently been opened). Bodine's crew came out and re-cleaned the footer drain at no cost to us under warranty. It's been great ever since!

Team that showed up was timely, professional, and experienced. Work was done without delay; team provided ongoing information of what they were finding, causes, and what was needed to fix areas of concern. One major front area downspout item was repaird and remedied at the time of inspection, and the work was very professionally done. They also recommended a small device be added to all downspouts to prevent / minimize future problems (special filter screens). I agreed to have these installed at a later date; this was completed in a timely and professional manner. These have proven to be very effective and work as promised. They also provided a bid on the larger, long term remedial work to replace some of the underground system if I decide to have that done. Overall a first rate job; I would use them again.

They were awesome. They were diligent all through. They were all nuts and bolts together and they did everything. They knew what to do and they sorted through a bunch of problems we had for them. He actually dug until midnight with the other contractor.

Steve came out to site to give us a bid which was prepared readily. We felt the price was reasonable and he gave us a couple of options to choose from. Took a while to get scheduled for the repair since this is their busy season with all the spring rains. Scheduled the work and they kept with the schedule, Kelly arrived on time and made quick work of the repair. He was very professional and pleasant to work with and we felt the work was done first rate. The work is under warranty for 5 years and also is transferable to the next owner.

Description of Work: Ceared out crawl space, dug interior trench, installed pipes, drain rock, etc to provide drainage -- property at base of a hill and much seepage into crawl. Put pipe thru wall and installed pipe to backyard with catch basin and outlet basin -- all using gravity flow on slight slope. Fixed various items in crawl space as needed (screens on vents, patches on possible weak areas, hauled away junk) and installed new plastic layer over entire space.

Ken Harris with Bodine Construction showed up exactly on time. He was cordial, professional, and went straight to work evaluating the foundation cracks in various areas. He also did a walk-through of all 3 levels of the house to look for any evidence of unusual settling of the foundation. He verbally expressed his opinion that the cracks were most likely caused by a cold joint resulting from separate concrete pours, and were not a serious concern. One day later we received a formal letter expressing this opinion in writing. Several days after the inspection, we still hadn't received an invoice so we contacted the company. We were told the inspection was and quot;on the houseand quot; and there would be no charge. We were quite surprised (and thankful) for this, since Ken Harris was at the site for at least an hour on this job. We are very impressed with this company.
Description of Work: We hired Bodine Construction to provide an inspection of concrete foundation walls and floors in a house that we are purchasing in Snohomish County. Our general house inspector noticed some irregular cracks in certain parts of the foundation, and recommended that we retain a specialist to evaluate. Bodine came highly recommended by our real estate agent and other reviews that we found on-line, so that's why we reached out to them.

I asked for an estimate to repair a structural problem in a house I was purchasing. The estimator arrived 60 minutes late. Then the advice and recommendation provided was entirely inaccurate. He mentioned several times and quot;I'm not an engineer, but...and quot;, which made me think I needed an engineer. Thankfully I did get an engineering opinion, because the proposal from Bodine would NOT have fixed the problem.

Steve Bodine, the owner, came out to see the yard and assess the problem. He was likeable and knowledgeable, and didn't seem out to gouge us or do more service than we could afford. He offered a variety of solutions at different prices. We chose to have the yard aerated and sanded, and some drains put in. The work was done on time and they did a good job in the back. Next time it rained we did not have a standing water problem. The problem was our front lawn, which does not have a drainage problem because it is sloped. Even though we did not want it done (and it was not on the estimate/proposal), they aerated and sanded our front lawn, too. When my husband called about it, they told him they'd and quot;thrown it in for freeand quot; because they had extra sand. Now sections our front lawn are dying. We've raked it twice to get some of the sand out, but the heavily sanded patches are completely brown and dead, in spite of watering every other day, and every day for two weeks. We normally don't water in summer (water bills) but we've had to do that in an effort to make the sand go down into the soil, and also to bring back the places that are completely brown. Our lawn is a patchwork of green and dead. It's ruined. So even though we liked Steve, and they did a good job on the back yard at a fairly reasonable price, we would hesitate to use them again because they sanded the heck out of our front lawn without asking us first, and now we are stuck with lawn problems that they created for us. We'll have to spend extra money trying to bring the lawn back, all because of a and quot;freeand quot; service we didn't want in the first place. UPDATE: We contacted Steve Bodine about the front lawn problem, and two days later a Bodine truck pulled up, put fertilizer and grass seed on the dead areas, at no charge to us. Our lawn is growing back. We still have to water it every day till the seed fills in, but we are satisfied with their response.

The owner Steve came out and diagnosed our problem which was a simple obstructed drain pipe that our downspout connected to. Initially, we were under the impression that we would need to do a costly repair installing a large section of footing drain around our house. Steve did not try to sell us extra work, which he easily could have as we were convinced we needed a large repair. He recommended a much simpler repair which has been effective for the last two seasons. He also spent a lot of time advising us on other strategies we could follow to avoid moisture problems in our basement. Very professional and honest.

Found the company through Angie's list and had them come out for estimation. The poor drainage around out house had led to some washing out of ground and sinking of concrete slabs. After the estimate was completed, we set the repair work, all work was done in two days and very professional group of staff and provided excellent work.
Description of Work: Install drainage away from the house structure for 2 downspouts. Plus re-installing of water barrier in the crawlspace. Work was done very efficiently and quickly. Labor for digging trench ended up taking more than expected due to big root system from nearby tree that impeded the drain direction. Still, the work was done as estimated.

Years ago, I kept having consistent backup problems. I tried all sorts of plumbing companies come out, charge up the you know what, and not solve the problem. Bodine was able to address the back ups and install a clean out valve. Since then they regularly jet out the line, which probably should be replaced as it is old and saggy apparently. Replacement would be a big deal due to a mature cherry tree, so this is the next best thing - regular jetting. The great thing is no more backups.
Description of Work: I have been using Bodine Construction regularly to clean my sewer line. They are professional, prompt, and thorough. Chuck is very helpful and an asset to the company. I had a sewer emergency on a Sunday night once and was able to get a hold of Steve. Very reliable folks.

They had to come and inspect to give the estimate, and if you hire the company within a certain amount of time, the $75 is applied to the work. They are a little more expensive than others but it's worth it because you know the job will be done correctly. Their work is excellent the first time, and they know what they are doing. They have done a lot of work for me in the past.

Everything went well. See above, The cost was a bit more than the estimate but the estimate provided that if hidden problems were encountered, the cost could be more which I believe is a wise way to present an estimate. I bleieve that Jim climbing into the hole was more than they counted on so I have no problem with the increased cost. The total cost stated above was divided into 4 so the service was reasonable in my opinion.
Description of Work: SPU was examining the drains in the neighborhood and deltermined that three of the sewer drains needed cleaning. One of them, the largest one was covered with landscaping which apparently had been there for years before I purchased the house. Four of us were on the same drains and had to share the cost of the work. Bodine (and two other companies) provided an estimate. I went with Bodine on behalf of all of us, because they were the most professional in providing an estimate and explaining things to me. On the day of the service, Jim even went into the well of the large drain to examine the problem. They worked with me to receive payment which I had to get from the other three neighbors. No one harassed me because of the delay. The drains passed inspection

They were awesome. They came 3 or 4 times prior to doing the work to make sure everything was setup the way they thought it was. They had two men on the job everyday that they worked. They worked really hard. They did a lot of digging manually. They did a lot of follow up afterwards. I haven't had any problems with the wet basement since then. I would have preferred if they were cheaper which would have been possible considering the work they did. They were always busy so I had to wait my turn. They were here when they said they would be. They did a good job. I would use them again in the future.
