Not great, if the company's too busy to accommodate new customers then they should hire more electricians! Seems like a no-brainer to me!
Description of Work: I called this provider to get an estimate for some electrical work at my house and was told by a girl named Amanda that their electricians were "booked too far out" and they weren't taking on any more electrical jobs right now. I told her I'd take my money elsewhere but found her response pretty rude.

Eric was very responsive and provided a very thorough estimate. The work crew showed up on time and had the job completed within one day. The install team, led by Kurt, performed quality work. I would recommend them to anyone needing a home standby generator installed.

Eric at Washington Electric is the guy to go too. He is very thorough with what is required for a backup generator, including requirements for the gas line and meter. He'll interface with your gas utility on your behalf, as well as gather the required permits. This is a nuts to soup company, you won't have to worry about subcontractors coming out to do pieces of your install. I rated them a B on punctuality because he was late to our first meeting (and no call to say he'd be late) and he didn't return a call from me when I was confirming installation date/time. Seems price was fair, compared to me piecing together a system on my own.

Very disappointed, shame on both Washington electric and Angie's list for allowing false advertising for special deals.
Description of Work: Really disappointed in this company, they did a great job installing a generator plug and new outlets about 4 years ago and put some smoke detectors several months back I called and emailed with no call back last week and just called again and sent email on electrical panel offer. I got a call back from Eric and was sad to be told Angie listed offers were no good Washington electric has asked to have them pulled down. Eric remembered panel issues I needed but is booked solid with residential work, so recommended a couple other co. Very disappointing to have done business with someone I trusted to find out obviously they are to big. I have never heard of specials on Angie's list not being good as advertised.....

Response from Washington Generators & Electric
Suprised by the reivew. This really isn't fair review considering what occured. As a small family owned local business feedback like this just doesn't make sense. 1. Yes we installed a manual generator connection (Great review) 2. We also installed security cameras (no review) 3. The customer left out the quote and recommendation we provided months ago for a dedicated circuit for a heater in the garage where her dogs are kept. She did not take our recommendation. The price was very reasonable. 4. Months later as part of a larger project by another contractor for her dogs in the garage the issue of the dedicated circuit came up again. After receiving a higher price from another contractor she contacted us again but our schedule was full. This is definately a case of regret for not having us install the circuit for a more affordable price when we originally recommended it. We have never had Angies List Deals for dedicated circuits in garages so this is really comming out of "left field". It is unfortunate that we were contacted at our busiest time for work we had bid on months ago when were available. Because of our quality of work, attention to detail we sometimes get booked out. In those circumstances we cannot fit all customers into our schedule.

The bidding process for me was quite good. I didn’t have any problems. I just asked it for a different equipment. Their bid was a little bit more. I went with a different provider because of the cost which was one factor and also it was for an equipment. The quality of the presentation of the bid was excellent. They were excellent with showing up on time and going over the bid with me.

After some shuffling on the appointment time, we finalized the date and time. The techs arrive a little earlier than they stated - which acceptable and appreciated. Techs looked at the area and then let us know the details that weren't explicitly stated in the Angie's list deal: the deal stated this was installation of four cans and a dimmer switch - but if you don't already have wiring in to the area and to an existing switch - OR - as in our case if you want the dimmer to be separate from the existing lights, that's extra... a LOT extra. Almost the full value of this deal, "extra". But - that said, it was a "Deal" and i guess you get what you get. But it left a bad taste in my mouth that what I thought I was buying was not what I was really getting. We compromised and used the existing dimmer switch already on our wall controlling to spot lights, but we are already wondering if that was the right decision because we lost the effect of the halogen spot lights now that they're tied to the cans. Alas. During the installation they did have some small exploratory work that caused an extra hole in the ceiling that I think could have been avoided by using a stud finder, but the Journeyman stated that it was Double Drywall and wouldn't work. Sure enough, they found a stud the hard way. Luckily the can beauty ring covers "most" of the extra hole, but this just seemed like something that could have been avoided if they'd had the right tools and at least tried to use them. These grumbles aside - the journeyman and the apprentice were both professional and courteous. That's a Big plus, there. They finished the job in about 3 or 4 hours - also a big plus. They did some cleaning up at completion and got all the big stuff out of the area when they were done. We had also asked, when we set up the appointment, if they could help with a trouble shooting job and they agreed - but informed us up front it would be at their hourly rate. I didn't explicitly hear that it would be a minimum of 1 hour - ie., they don't charge less than 1 hour. But, if it solved our problem - then it's worth it. And it was solved - it took the guy about all of 10 min to find the GFI that I couldn't locate for the life of me. So yeah! Then the guy asks if i'd like to replace the GFI, it's a little old. "It'll be $45 to do so". I asked him if that was accounting for the 45 min or so left on the hour I just paid for. No, he says, This is where things got really sour tasting... I HATE being nickle and dime'd to death, and this was nothing but just that. $85 for a hour's worth of work that took them 10 minutes to do and now they want to double bill me for labor on the $10 part. I thanked him and said no - not at that price. We had one other small job that they were willing to do while they were here: installing a timer on our bathroom fan. The timer they installed was owner furnished and the labor was $27. A fair price I think, since I don't know the first thing about wiring. At the end of the work they asked me how much I paid through angie's list for the deal and then told me that they had to charge me Tax on that amount because Angie's list doesn't. This is the FIRST time we've encountered this - and we've used multiple Angie's list deals. It felt fishy, but more than anything - it felt like another chance for them to add a nickle and a dime to the bill. We've used a couple of electricians through Angie's list now - for the amount of work done this was the most expensive electrician we've used, and that's not even considering that this was supposed to be a "deal". In the future, they will not be our first choice to call back - but in a pinch they would be acceptable. Their workers and workmanship seem solid - but the price gouging - and most especially the attempt to double bill labor really make this our most unpleasant experience with an Angie's list deal to date. I'm scoring them relatively high - a B overalll, but it was almost a C. They sure were quick to point out when I would owe them more for any little extra thing, but I was never credited back for the price of the dimmer since they used one of my own that was already in the house.
Description of Work: Installled 4 recessed can lights on an existing dimmer switch in our house, purchased on an Angie's list deal. Also installed a timer switch in our bathroom fan (owner supplied equipment); also did a trouble shooting job to locate a GFI in our house.

The service went well. They came to inspect the house and had to replace 1 electrical outlet because it had a short in it. He had the part on him so I did not have to pay anything extra. He also inspected the garage outlets. The technician did a great job and had good recommendation for outlets with USB ports. I had no issues with scheduling and they came right in time. I would definitely recommend this company to other.

The electrician came and was very thorough. I had a list of items I wanted to have done and he provided me with a cost for each one so I could do some of the work this year and some later. I saw the deal and was interested in finding a good electrician to do some work on my house. I ordered the special coupon deal, and then attempted to call the company first to get something scheduled (6/26). I called one of the numerous phone numbers they have on their website, which I got an answering service saying they were out of the office. I left a message. I called back 24 hours later (6/27), same answering service, and did not leave a message, opting to wait. I received a message 6/30 through Angie's List's messages from the company, having a scheduled time and asking to confirm. I responded later that day, saying that time did not work and offered various times I did have, providing my phone number and asking to call because that might be easier than emailing back and forth. They responded with a time that still did not work with the hours provided. So, I responded how that did not work, asking if there were other times in a different week. I did not receive any response from then on. I emailed again on 7/1, asking if any other times worked or if they could call me. No response since 6/30. I am disappointed in their lack of communication, but appreciate the quickness that Angie's List responded to my request.

Response from Washington Generators & Electric
Appreciate the feedback. We offered several options for scheduling that didn't work for the customer. We did offer multiple dates that just weren't workable for the customer's schedule. It is totally understandable that with work schedules and personal committments it can be difficult to connect with each customer. We tried our best but in this case it didn't work out.

After re-scheduling the service the first time about 30 minutes before they should arrive. The second time I was at home but they couldn't reach me and left the business card on the door. They didn't call me upon arrival, only sent a text minutes 10 minutes prior and after 40 minutes I didn't hear any knock on the door or door bell. Upon checking my email I saw that they were there but apparently didn't make much effort to reach me. I was fine with that and asked a re-scheduled and got the following text message: "I will talk to kurt in the office and get to you back next week". That was on 6/7. After that I never heard from them and tried to message them through angies list and through phone without no response. On 6/25 I finally got a message saying that they couldn't come to my home because their service is scheduled by bulk in areas and they didn't have any planned service in my areas in the upcoming days. This lack of availability was not transparent in the offer and I felt the customer service was lacking.

Kurt was right on time, thoroughly explained what needed to be done and got right to work. He had to drill through the side of the house and access an interior outlet for power to install the light. I was able to get this done before I got to work in the morning. Kurt was quick, efficient, friendly and professional. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Another plus: I had another company come out to give me a free estimate and their quote was $150 more than the Angie?s List Deal including tax! I am very happy.

It went awesome!...Because I didn't really need the full house inspection that I bought, Eric used common sense to figure out the things he could do that would be useful (stuff I wouldn't have known to ask him to do!) and did them. He is a really honest, conscientious guy.

Eric changed the breakers, but unfortunately the electrical issues continued. Through trial and error, discovered the electrical outage was due to newly placed security system. I originally was impressed with the commitment to solving the problem, so I hired Eric to install pendant lights and add a dimmer in our living room. Everything went down hill after the initial meeting. The customer service lady on the phone was rude and annoyed at taking calls and messages and sometimes didn't answer the phone or would put me on hold for long periods of time the I eventually hung up. Not taking it personally, considering I wanted Washington Electric to do the job, I turned to texting Eric, the electrician that I was originally impressed with. In hindsight, I realized he lost interest in following through with our agreement that he was going to do the job. After weeks of texting and leaving messages a date was set for someone to come out to do the work. Unfortunately, the person assigned to the project arrived an hour early and left before the appointment time. To make matters worse there were no phone calls or follow up. He just left and never returned. My texts went unanswered and I moved on. I hired someone else who did the job the day of and charged me a third of what Eric quoted me. To top things off the project was complete in less than an hour. Clearly, Washington Electric showed no interest in continuing good customer service. So, no I DO NOT recommend this company, they lack integrity and professionalism.
Description of Work: Changed four breakers for rooms that were having electric failure. Hired Eric for another date to change pendant lights and place a dimmer. After a verbal agreement was set that he would install new pendant lights and place a dimmer in our dining room, the date was extended for over a month.

Response from Washington Generators & Electric
Thanks for the feedback. When we showed up at the customers house they were really in a bad position. Other electricians had tried unsuccessfully to fix the issue. While cheaper they lacked the knowledge to properly torubleshoot the issue. Circuit breakers were turning off lights in the home randomly leaving the family in the dark. We solved the tricky issue. Here is the good part, while fixing the electrical crisis, we also noticed that the pendant lights in the kitchen had melted, burned and cracked at each light fixture. This was also missed by the cheaper electrician. It is unfortunate that the day of the appointment to make this repair we missed Molly by 30 minutes at her home. The technician did call but the number was incorrect. This was our mistake but we did call. When we finally touched bases it was too late. In the end it appears that Molly went back to the original less expesive electrician that was unable to keep the lights on in her home, and also did not notice the potential fire hazard with the kitchen pendant lights. This is understandable, and we wish we hadn't missed Molly the day of the appointment by 30 minutes with an incorrect phone number. Since this time we have moved to Ipad billing and "real time" cloud based ipad scheduling which has really helped minimized issues like this.

They gave me a new electrical box outlet and placed it where I desired. The builders put it at the roof line which was inconvenient. It had been bothering me for 25 years and now it’s at a comfortable knee height. When he was fished the work, you couldn't even tell he had been there. It’s beautiful! Their pricing was fine. It did turn out really well. Although they do add ons too. It is electrical work that needed to be done. How are they going to add a box without putting the powers on the main box down is beyond my control. So that is just the sneaky thing in the big deal. But it turned out well. They guy needed to come twice because it failed inspection and it should not fail inspection. They were good natured, punctual and knew what they were doing. So, I think the service was great. We purchased the inspection through Angie's List. When they went out to inspect the house, they provided us with a reasonable bid to take care of a few things they discovered during the inspection. We were impressed with them and asked for a bid to add GFCI protection to the electrical as it is an older home without 3 prong outlets. We felt their bid was reasonable so decided to have them do the recommended work as well as the grounding of the electrical. They were prompt and professional. We are very happy with their work and would definitely hire them again.

Washington Electric contacted me the same business day I purchased the Angie's list deal. They came out to check out the situation, and as I recall performed the work within one or two days. They were prompt, very courteous, very informative. Worked in a speedy and professional manner. I had not realized that an inspection cost was additional--beyond the cost of the deal, but it was not a lot of money. Washington electric contacted the inspector, who came the next day, and commented on what a great job the electricians did. I was in the middle of a remodel project that I was sure would need additional circuits, so having that done so quickly saved delays on the other project. The electrician checked out a couple of things.. grounding of the panel, and apparently we have old, fabric-covered cable bringing power to the house that they recommend replacing. I will get to that at some point. All in all, a pain-free experience!
