Grant, the owner, came out and gave the initial quote in August. I had to think about it for awhile, so did not respond until November. They were happy to give me the same price as quoted earlier, and we got the windows installed Mid-January. One of the picture windows was broken in shipping so had to be reordered. Uri and his crew were great and the windows are perfect for us. We got the more expensive fiberglass windows and I'm glad we did - they look great. We are also happy to have screens that work and windows that open properly. (the old ones were old aluminum ones). This is the second time I have used Signature, and will use them again to get the rest of the windows done (probably this summer).

I am extremely unhappy as after windows were installed that we noticed from the outside windows are a pale green....not noticeable from the inside. They are a very different color from our windows above them upstairs. If this had been the front of my house I would have been furious. We were never told of the color difference before installation. We will eventually have them replaced again to match the rest of our windows. And.....there is one window that almost every morning is totally clouded up condensation while the windows on either side of it are fine. When I mentioned it to them,,,really no response.

Response from Signature Window & Door Replacement
This Angie’s List member asked us to replace south-facing windows that have clear and direct sun exposure, which was creating a great deal of heat build-up during the day. LoE glass was recommended to help mitigate the impact from the sun and aid in controlling fading of interior furnishings. The client was given a full presentation of the effectiveness of the glass and viewed samples during the demonstration. While not discernable from the interior looking out, LoE glass does have, when viewed from the exterior, a greenish hue and will have a slight color difference compared to clear glass. Clear glass will not meet today’s Energy Star guidelines and does not offer protection from direct sunlight, fading, or offer any insulation characteristics necessary to be considered an energy efficient product. The window replacement recommendation made by Signature is in line with industry standards and by all accounts was serving this client with the best and latest technology to solve their issues. We maintain records of all calls to our office through CRM, (Customer Relationship Management), software and show no records of this client contacting us about any issues. The customer received information regarding the potential for occasional condensation forming on the outside of the glass. Today’s high performance windows reduce the amount of heat that flows through the glass, which on rare occasion can result in droplets, (dew), forming on the exterior glass. This is the same condensation you may see on your car windshield or lawn in the morning. Several atmospheric conditions must be in place for this to happen: Clear night skies, (where the heat escapes to the atmosphere), cold temperatures, moisture in the air, and no air movement. Which windows on a house may have this infrequent issue can be caused by the design of the house, positioning of the house, as well as nearby objects, (shrubs, trees, etc.). Therefore, if you see condensation on the outside of your window, this is visible evidence that your energy is being saved, and that your window investment is paying off. We were sorry to learn that the client was unhappy with the color of the glass compared to their old inefficient windows, and with occasional condensation, however, we believe Signature provided them the best technology available in window products to solve a number of issues they wanted to be addressed and we stand by the windows that were installed.

Randy was great - he gave us lots of information and recommendations. It came to install and they were really busy. My initial install date wasn't workable and they worked hard to find another date that worked, But be warned - they get very busy in the summer, so start the process early if you want a quick install! The installation went off without any issues. I would definitely recommend them.

Signature Window and Door are a pleasure to work with. It began with Randy coming to my home for a consultation. I have a 1906 craftsman and wanted to replace the original windows with something that would keep with the character of the home. Randy offered many suggestions on products, details, trim, etc. We ended up choosing solid wood, double hung windows with multiple grids in the top sashes and a coordinating front door. Randy understood scale and proportion and recommended window sizes and a door that would complement the house. We also wanted all of the old painted trim removed and replaced with vertical grain fir inside and cedar outside. Simon came to install the windows and door. He is a talented carpenter with an amazing eye for detail. He removed all the old windows and trim and created a new style of trim work for both the exterior and interior. The windows and door were installed perfectly, and the new exterior trim was neatly weather sealed and ready for paint. Simon had a natural eye for what looked good on my craftsman house, and the new trim makes the house look amazing. I would definitely recommend Signature to anyone.

Signature seems to be very popular and well rated, therefore, when I called to make an appointment in mid-September, there wasn't an appointment available until mid-October. I took the earliest appointment possible, Oct. 14th. Randy Lucas, co-owner of Signature Windows, came to provide an estimate and product options for our window replacement project. At the time was punctual, courteous, conversational & knowledgeable. He wasn't pushy whatsoever. One of the things we wish to get done (we've now hired another contractor that can do the work...) to the windows is to mount the new windows as close to the exterior wall of the house as is reasonably possible and increase the interior sill space. I've personally done this with replacement window installation at another home, and at the time of the Signature window estimate, I already had two other contractors that could do the same. It isn't difficult, a little more time consuming vs. just ripping out the old windows and putting in new ones in the same exact placement, but not difficult at all. During our conversation, Randy assured me "this is something we can easily do, our crews are highly skilled and capable of doing this, no problem." Randy sent me a quote for the windows the same day, 10/14, at around 7PM. I was impressed with the turnaround and how quickly he was able to assemble all of our requests. At this time, I felt confident this was a very well put together contracting team. On 10/16, we received a letter from Signature in the mail, thanking us for the opportunity to quote on our project and was looking forward to the opportunity to work together. My first reaction was "Wow! No one does this locally anymore, very professional." Unfortunately, that was not my last reaction. 3 days after receiving the estimate for our window project, I sent an email back to Randy on Friday, 10/17, expressing our desire to move our project forward with Signature. I had several follow up questions, and minor changes to the existing estimate that I wished for him to get back to me on. I wasn't sure if he would respond that day, it was a Friday, so I decided to follow up with him the following Tuesday, 10/21. I felt this was enough time to take a quick look at it considering how quickly he was able to turnaround the original project estimate to us the same day on 10/14. I followed up with Randy on 10/21 via email if he had the chance to review the change requests and questions. He responded, and I quote below: "Hi Thomas, Yes, I received your request on Friday, Oct. 17th. I was away this weekend and am now trying to play catch up between my appointments. I will reply to your revisions with new pricing and answer your questions asap. Sorry for the delay. Randy" No problem, he was out of town and he needs more time. He said he would get back to me asap. That was 10/21. I waited until 10/29, and still no word from Randy. I wrote to Randy again on the 29th: "Hi Randy, I?m sure you?re busy, as we all are, however its been over a week since we last exchanged emails. I?m leaving town next Monday morning for several weeks and would really like to know if there is interest in working on this project or if I need to contact another contractor who is available. I look forward to hearing from you by tomorrow, Oct. 30th." It appeared, from what Randy said during the estimate, from his enthusiasm of sending the quote so quickly, the follow up letter two days letter on 10/16, he had interest in the project. Randy's response on 10/29, soon after: "Hi Thomas, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I think we?re going to pass on your project. After discussing your project with my lead foreman, we both agree that the way you want the windows to be installed is just to radical for us to be comfortable with. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to bid on your project. Randy" HUH? "Radical"? What's "radical"? This is the first time I heard, from 3 bids, that the way we want the windows installed is "radical". I'm not sure what Randy meant by this and he didn't give an explanation. When I hear the term "radical" I think surfing or skateboarding, not window installation, but then again, maybe I'm not up-to-speed on my local window installation description terminology. Randy Lucas, and Signature Windows waited 12 days from receiving our acceptance of their bid(10/17), to say we can't work on the project, we're not comfortable. Shame on Signature Windows for taking so long to get back to a potential client. Shame on Randy Lucas for leading on to a potential client they can do something, then turnaround, after an unprofessional length of time waiting, that they actually aren't comfortable with the project, it is beyond their scope of expertise. I don't know, because the work wasn't actually completed, but it appears with the limited communication I was provided from Signature Windows, and turning down this project with no explanation, they are unable to do some of the types of installations the owner claims they can do on their website, and also what they claim they can do in person during the estimating process. Why would the owner of Signature Windows claim they can do something, then say it is too "radical" and they are not comfortable with it, but bid on it anyway? It sounds like some of the personnel at Signature lack certain installation expertise in some areas, but again, I really don't know for certain, I only know they are not comfortable. Randy's last email displayed to me a lack of communication to the potential client in a reasonable amount of time: I had to go find him a week later, as if his time is more important vs. a potential new client. The email also demonstrated, with clarity, that communication between the owner and the foreman did not happen in a timely manner, but rather, sometime soon after I sent an email on the 29th. It appears, though I'll never know, that Randy Lucas waited 12 days to discuss this project. Randy could have simply communicated to me "I have XX things happening this week, I estimate I can get back to you on XX day this week or XX day next week with an answer of whether we can do the project or not." The desire and initiative to communicate better didn't happen on his end, and made me feel like my time was not important or valuable. I would not recommend Signature Windows.

Response from Signature Window & Door Replacement
On behalf of Signature Windows, I’d like to apologize to the member and agree this situation was handled poorly on my end. As a company, we try very hard to be prompt, courteous, and professional with all clients and I admit that there was a lapse in communication on my behalf. As far as the job itself goes, Signature did elect to pass on this project and I stand by this decision. It is not a decision we take lightly but there are rare occasions when it makes sense for us to step back from a job. Could we have done it? Yes. However, just because an installation can be completed doesn’t always mean that it’s the right way to proceed. Our master craftsmen are all finish carpenters and their talents are among the best in the industry. Their expertise affords us to successfully complete virtually all window & door projects - under normal circumstances. However, this member had a very firm installation application technique in mind that was outside the normal parameters of what we consider suitable for insuring long-term success. After discussing this project with my foreman we agreed that although this installation could be completed, it was less than ideal. We believed that if others were willing to take the project on with the overriding requirements by the member that it would be in the best interests (for both parties) for Signature to respectfully pass on the project. In my reply to this member the word “radical” was not the best term to use and looking back I should have been a bit more delicate with my phrasing. I regret the term and am sincerely sorry for not communicating with him better. Of course we want to help as many clients as possible and it is incredibly rare that we feel compelled to decline a project. This however, was one of those times and we are happy the homeowner was successful in finding someone who was willing to provide the installation he was asking for. Again, we apologize we couldn’t help this member and wish him the best going forward.

Randy and his team were punctual, courteous, responsive, and the bid was competitive. Yuriy, who did the actual install with his team, is one the best craftsmen I have worked with in more than 20 years of owning a home. He was pleasant, polite, punctual, very demanding of his own work, and cleaned up after himself. He always made sure to check with us when he found something unexpected, but I quickly learned to trust his judgment. When the work took longer than he expected, he came back on a saturday to finish it to his own high standards rather than turn it into a rush job. One screen was damaged in shipping and Camilla promptly ordered a new one, which arrived shortly thereafter. So far we have really enjoyed the quality of the windows. The added light of the new windows in the living room has transformed that space. We had invited a bid based on their Angie's List reputation and I definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: Replaced nearly all existing windows with Marvin Infinity windows on the main floor and upstairs and Simonton vinyl windows with safety glass in the basement. Signature did a fantastic job replacing a very large window in our dining room and repairing water damage to the wall. I was especially impressed with Yuriy our installer. His workmanship was impeccable and he put in some long hours to get our window done before the weekend. The extra time was necessary because when he took out the old window he discovered some significant water damage to the wall and repairing that damage added a lot to the time it took to complete the window replacement. We're also extremely pleased with the quality of the window itself (Marvin Infinity). It really transformed our room compared to our old fogged up window!

She let me know that 3 windows was not enough work for them. They would need it to be 4-5 windows. She said they would lose money on only 3 windows. It was at this point that I realized that a business that cannot figure out how to price their services may not be a great choice. It would also be nice if they mentioned the minimum in their listing as it says "Free Estimates".

Response from Signature Window & Door Replacement
While we wish we could accommodate every homeowner with their window needs, that isn’t always the case. As a small business we have found it necessary to have a project minimum. When we receive a call for a project that is less than our minimum, as was the case with this member, we do what we can to help the client locate a company that is better able to serve them, both in terms of fair pricing and the ability to do the work in a timely manner. While we can’t help everybody, we do what we can to set everyone up for success.

What a pleasant company to deal with. I would do business with Signature again and without hesitation. They were timely in responding to my request to bid on some large front room windows and a French door. One of the owners, Randy Lucas handled that call and it was clear that he was experienced and knew what he was talking about. He bid the job at that point and described how the process would work in terms of measuring exactly, ordering and installation. He also told us about the rebates that were available from Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and how they would handle the paperwork and collection of the rebates. The install went smoothly and even though it has only been a week since the install, I think we are going to be very happy with our new windows and doors. There were no overruns or surprises that came up at the end. What we paid was exactly what was bid. I had requested bids from other companies. One company seemed to use delaying tactics in setting up an appointment. Never a good sign when starting a relationship with a new vendor. Another company sent out a person that was clearly new to the whole process and compared to Signature's Randy Lucas, well- there was no comparison. The inexperienced person did not even mention the existence of the PSE rebates.

From beginning to end this was the best service one could hope for. Randy was always available to meet with us; even on a Sunday morning when we had just a few more questions!!! We felt no pressure whatsoever to make a decision on the spot nor was there ever any negative discussion about other window companies; something that we did experience with other companies. After signing the bid we were contacted quickly by Vitaly for final measurements and given an installation date. We received confirmation from Camilla close to the installation date. Today Vitaly and his assistant arrived 15 minutes early to get started!!! What was supposed to be a 2-day installation was finished in 1 day!! Vitaly and his assistant worked cleanly and efficiently; cleaning up their work space as they went along. By the end of the day there were no signs that they'd ever been here .....other than we now have beautiful windows to enjoy!! Thanks again for the wonderful experience!

Randy is very professional and considerate when dealt with our project. He recommended master bedroom window modification to combine three windows into one double slided window. The result is amazing and it helped to get more lights into our master bedroom. The recommended coating also reduced the heat accumulated during summer since our master bedroom is facing west. The price is actully more expensive than other quotes but I do like the window brand they use and recommendation Randy made. Overall windows are installed professionally, and quality seems to be pretty good. There were couple of incidents showed that professionalism could be improved. 1. The frames of modified window was not ordered correctly first time and Yuri who is the leading service guy had to come back second time. But we were left couple of days without frames in our master bedroom. Since we have a little boy around, that was a little bit concerning. 2. One of assistant wrongly removed frames in another room which he shouldn't. They had to put them back and there were some cracks and paint scratchs on the frames. Yuri tried the best to recover it and Randy offered $50 compensation. But frames were still left some noticeable marks. 3. We specifically asked them to use the restroom downstairs for privacy reason. However, one of assistant still used the restroom upstairs. Not sure if this is miscommunication but I certainly heard Yuri mentioned that to his assistants. Overall, the experience is very positive and quality is the top notch. I would certainly recommend them to my friends.

Grant, one of the owners, came out in June 2013 to give me an estimate for the windows. He was right on time. He was very professional & personable. We talked about what I wanted & as I brought up things he would suggest things I hadn't thought of. He did a walk around & came back with a few more questions. He printed out the estimate immediately & I committed to get back to him after all the bids were in. There was no pressure to make up my mind right away, which I liked. A few days later I chose this company to do the work. I got the date I wanted. On that date the crew was on time & immediately started working. They took all the precautions associated with the presumption of lead paint being present. The workers were friendly, efficient & worked nonstop. The installation was very good & they cleaned up both inside & out. They were done in less than 8 hours. We have had no problems with the windows almost a year later.

Grant was so responsive and patient and timely while working on my bid/order details. I couldn't have asked for better service. Suggested options; advised me when he thought my choice was incorrect, but didn't insist; did and re-did drawings; accomodated my unique requests for glass types and grid types. Negotiated the price. I got bids from the window manufacturer, a big box store, and an independent company (Signature). All bids were for the exact same brand and style. When asked to justify one price difference, Signature immediately compromised. Signature ended up being the middle price point. I questioned one detail that was omitted. Since neither of us had proof, Grant volunteered for the company to pick up the cost. I had planned on going 50/50, but we never got to that stage. Simon was in charge of installation. He was personable and professional. The crew was so fast and efficient. His crew did an excellent clean up job at the end of each section of installation and after the total project. It took only a single, quiet request to have something recleaned. The office staff had a customer friendly approach to inquiries. They followed up at several intervals after the installation was complete. If I even hinted that something was not quite right, they put in a work order and followed up with me to see if the problem was solved and I was satisfied. Months later they even researched the tax I had paid on the job for my income tax return. Their response was in less than two hours.

From Randy who helped us scope the project and provided guidance and the cost estimates; Simon and James who did the installation work and crafted the wood trim; Camilla who was our project manager responsible for scheduling and day-to-day interactions; and Tina their office manager who was most helpful in providing certain paperwork required for filing for an energy rebate Signature Window Replacement functioned as a professional and coordinated organization dedicated to providing quality products and services to the satisfaction of its customers. We are very pleased with the entire experience and recommended the company to our neighbor. Simon and James, especially, should be commended. They were punctual, protected our floors with drop cloths, and removed their shoes whenever they had to work in the house. They collected and hauled away the debris and vacuumed at the end of each day. They were not above answering questions on the work they were doing when we asked. Overall, we couldn't have been more pleased. Signature went out of their way to accommodate us on the Ultra Vue screens. Currently these screens are not available with the Madeira line of windows from Simonton. After researching the situation, Randy and Simon worked together to obtain the Ultra Vue screening material. During the installation process, Simon and James removed the material from the factory and replaced the panels with the Ultra Vue screening. Cost-wise, Signature was not the lowest. Their total cost, however, was well within striking distance of the lowest bid - we interviewed six companies including Signature. As with our neighbor, we would not hesitate to recommend Signature to anyone.
Description of Work: Signature removed and replaced 23 windows on our three-story home, including all of the trim. Hardware comprised of the Simonton Madeira line of ProSolar Low E argon gas windows. Our old windows were of non-standard depth and the manufacturer went out of business during the economic downturn. This required the that the craftsmen install the windows by creating a 1/8" custom vinyl filler to ensure that window frames met the inside wood trim seamlessly while blending in with the window frame. Signature upgraded our windows with Simonton Ultra View screens. The old wood trim was removed and replaced using pre-primed cedar.

Excellent windows to match windows we had installed several years ago by a different company (now out of business). No BS sales - they said this is what we can do and no pressure. And they did it - matched our existing windows with a great installation. The only thing I ranked them down for was that the window manufacturer didn't have their act together and they scheduled installation with us 3 times & cancelled before all the windows were actually available. Other than that, everything was great.

Signature were the fourth company to offer an estimate for replacement windows and I felt that although they were not the cheapest that I would be getting the best products installed by professionals. Just two weeks after the initial meeting our windows were installed and we are very pleased with them, I'm glad I followed my instinct! The team at Signature windows are well coordinated and very professional. I definitely recommend their work and will be calling them again when I need further window or door replacements.
Description of Work: Installed 13 vinyl replacement windows.

I love these guys. I had referred eight people. I told them to just get a quote from them and talk to them. They are getting business on windows and I told them to try Signature. They got all the jobs. I like the fact that they have their own installers. They do not subcontract it out. Everything was perfect. They came, took the measurements, and put the windows in on the day they said. They were very nice to work with. Then, I had a leak in one of my windows which has nothing to do with what they had done. It was the caulking around the sill from when it was built. It finally broke away and they came and fixed that. One time, I had a screen door that I walked into and they replaced it. They were wonderful to work with.
Description of Work: Signature Windows did the windows in my whole condo eight years ago and they did my sister-in-law’s window a month ago.

Signature excels in every category. Randy came to the house to estimate and help us plan; he is genuine, thoughtful, knowledgeable and a joy to work with. He met with us just a few days after our initial call, the bid came within a day, and the work proceeded quickly and efficiently. The cost was a little more than we had anticipated, but the choices we made were also on the higher-end, and the professional quality of the fit and framing makes it worth every penny. The doors are beautiful. Yuri worked h****** the installation, kept the house clean from dust and debris, and took pride in his finished work. We had a minor setback when the glass insert we selected was not available in the door that we wanted. Randy both called us and came out again with new ideas; the problem was solved in no time and we are more than satisfied with the entire process. We have used Signature before for an exterior door, and will continue to call them first whenever we need windows or doors. Their communication and customer service puts them over the top!
Description of Work: Installed two exterior doors in older home with off-size frames.

It was a great experience. They’re great. The cleanup was good and they were well within their estimated time. I think they did a great job. If these windows failed in the future, I would not use them again. It’s a quality company and they have quality windows. I did a number of estimates and their estimate was not the lowest but the impression I got form the representative what they would definitely do quality work.

I contacted 3 providers at least for this job. But I preferred to get this done by Signature Windows and Doors since they were specialists in their work. A handyman/general contractor did not give me the same sense of ease. Besides they were priced well too. Randy came in and was able to show me door options and give me an exact estimate on the spot! The job was done in a day. The workers worked hard till 7pm and got the work done well. They broke open the wall. Then an electrician did his work. Then they continued to open the entire space. They added a header beam for the needed support. Then they placed the door in place and fixed it. They added insulation around the door and added the trim around it, both inside and on the outside (towards the yard). They had made sure that the trim would match our existing trim exactly, which was great. They also took great care in fixing our wainscotting so that it looks great again. They resealed the wall with mud. They tested the door so that it opened correctly, locked right, etc. Overall, Yuriy and Sergio did a great job - they were meticulous about the entire process making sure everything was done correctly. I would surely work with this company again and recommend them to you.
Description of Work: We needed to create a hole in the wall and install a new french door leading up to the yard. Signature Windows And Doors were the best in terms of quality as well as price.

Randy Lucas, the owner, came out to do the estimate. He answered all my questions and provided information I wouldn't have known to ask about. The work was scheduled much sooner than I expected...a good thing in this wintery weather. Yuriy and Serge did the installation. They were very professional, paid attention to detail, and did quality work. They take pride in their work. It seems a little thing to mention, but I was pleased with the clean-up they did and the respect for my property. The house already is warmer. I was given the stickers from each window so that I could apply for the PUD rebate. As Randy and Yuriy said, Camilla was a phone call away, to help with scheduling, questions, etc. Thanks to Randy, Yuriy, Serge, and Camilla!
