The countertops were installed in July 2013 as part of a complete kitchen remodel. Our countertops were too long to have a solid slice, so the slab was cut into a few pieces. In December when the weather turned cold and dry, our kitchen counters shifted (contracted as the moisture left?), so now there is a small level difference between the granite in the garden window and the rest of the countertop around the kitchen sink. Precision Countertops, along with our contractor and designer, all showed up to examine the problem, but after 6 months, nothing has been done to correct the problem. After the fact, Precision Countertops said the garden window portion should never have been a separate piece, because new cabinets shrinking in dry weather is not uncommon. Given this information, why did they not raise the alarm before the granite was cut? Now, every time I do the dishes, I see the 1/8-inch shift between the sink and window pieces. They gave lip service to finding a matching piece and replacing it, but after a few lame attempts, nothing. I am very dissatisfied with the countertop installation and highly recommend avoiding this company.

The templaters/installers were fantastic. They were on time and very prepared, kept our home clean, and kept to within the time estimated for each task. Our project coordinator, however, was not very responsive or informative. The information we initially received was "cut and paste" which was disappointing and unprofessional since it wouldn't have taken long to share just the pertinent information for our job. Our telephone messages were slow to be returned, the wrong sink was ordered (and caught during templating), and we were accidentally emailed with a complaint from a different client. On installation day, the installers were here just after 8:30a verses the 10-12p window we were quoted (and the installers were surprised to hear of the later times given) so we needed to scramble to prepare, but it was a good time for us. They did an excellent job, and I was most impressed with them. When I called to confirm a window for the plumber's arrival the next day, I was told that he would call ?sometime this evening to let us know where we were on his routing tomorrow.? I was a little surprised to hear that there was no window at all. When I questioned that news, I was told I could call him directly to find out. While I don?t have trouble making phone calls, I was a little put out that this was given to me to find out instead of a ?let me see what we can do to get that time window for you? approach. We definitely felt that we were not a customer. In the end, however, our counter tops were beautiful and fit perfectly. Would we use them again? Probably not. It's too bad, considering this is a problem that can be easily rectified with a little training and follow through.

The company was helpful, returned calls promptly, and Lanny did a great job making the templates and installing the new countertops. He called to let me know when he was on the way, arrived promptly, got the work done quickly and well, and cleaned up everything afterwards. The countertops and the installation look great. The company is busy so there is some delay between the initial order, the template, and final installation (about 5 weeks total) but they explained that up front and gave me the actual dates available. I was not in a big hurry so that was not an issue for me. I appreciated them being honest about that from the beginning.

Great communication. Michelle called and set everything up, explained the process. she also called the day after the install to make sure everything went well. Joe was our installer. He is a very nice guy and funny too. And he is good at his job too. I am very happy with his work. I can't say anything bad about the whole process from start to finish.

They communicated well. We called and had a question, they were calling us back right away. They were great about letting us know when the workman was gonna come out. The workman would call to say, were like half an hour away. They put stuff down to protect everything. Cleans up. It's a very positive experience.

We were put in touch with this company through Home Depot as part of our kitchen remodel project. The first issue we had was that no one knows anything about wood countertops, which made getting information difficult. I realize they are not common, but if a company is going to sell them, you would think they would have someone on staff to be the "expert" and answer questions. When I first contacted Precision, the person I spoke with told me that all the wood countertops they sold were DIY and we would have to do all the finishing, etc. ourselves. Since I knew this was not correct I called the manufacturer (Craft Art) myself and got my questions answered. We decided to go ahead with this countertop and a crew came out and did the template. No problem. There is a long lead time on these as we knew, so we waited the 6 weeks and were very excited when a call came in to schedule the install. However, that was short lived as I soon discovered they had ordered the wrong type of wood. After a few phone calls it was decided that the installers would do a "temporary" install. This allowed my kitchen contractor to come in the next day and connect my plumbing and appliances so I would have a working kitchen while waiting for the correct counter to arrive. I was appreciative of this. I should mention that I attempted to reach a compromise with Precision by offering to keep the mis-ordered countertop if they would mark down the price. They wanted $500 more than I was willing to pay so we had them go ahead and reorder the correct one. A new countertop was ordered and we waited another 6 weeks. At last a new install date was scheduled with a time frame of 12-3 pm. To prepare for this, I removed all the top drawers and emptied the top shelf of all lower cabinets to allow the installers access to the underside of the counter, as well as emptying out the sink base cabinet. The installers called saying they would arrive approx. 5:30 pm. Then they called again just after 5 and said that the job they were on was taking longer than had been scheduled and they would not be at our house until after 7 pm and they estimated our job would take 4-5 hours. That meant they would be finished around midnight. I told them to cancel, that was unacceptable. The next morning I waited anxiously for a phone call from Precision to reschedule. Nothing. Finally, I called them at 9:30 am. The person who was our usual contact was not there and I am guessing that if I had not called, I would have not heard from them. I spoke to another associate who said she would have to check a few things and would call me back. After 1 1/2 hours, I still had not heard back so I called again. She put me on hold for another 10-15 minutes while she spoke to someone (I am not sure what she did during the previous 1 1/2 hours!). Finally she came back to give me new install dates. Since the install had to be followed the next day by a plumber to re-connect everything that was disconnected during the removal of the temporary counter, the install could not be done on a friday or holiday(Christmas/New Year's), as I was unwilling at this point to put up with a non functioning kitchen and they had no plumber willing to work a one hour job on a saturday. Apparently, when they miscalculate the install time required on jobs which results in missed appointments, it is then the customer's problem and you get moved to the end of the line. Our new install date was set for 2 1/2 weeks later. I put my kitchen back in order. I called the Home Depot coordinator and let her know my frustration and how unhappy I was with this vendor and that I would be posting an unfavorable review. About a week later I received a call from a manager, but was not home at the time. He was out when I returned his call and I left a message but never heard from anyone again. Finally the day came for the final install. Again I emptied shelves, removed drawers and cleaned out under the sink. The installers were a bit late to arrive, but they said they had not been given a time frame. Nor had they been told they would be removing an existing countertop. I would have expected some communication to the installers from Precision regarding the previous problems and the need to make everything right for an unhappy customer, but that was not the case. However, the installers were very friendly and capable and got the job done with no problems. The plumber showed up the next day and completed his part. From the date of the template to the final install was 14 weeks. While they did admit to the first mistake of ordering the wrong type of wood and took responsibility for it, after the missed second install, there was no apology or any indication that they were concerned with my inconvenience or satisfaction as a customer, nor did it appear that they made much of an effort to expedite my installation. It was as if they did not care at all. If I had been able to cancel this order, I would have. But since you are required to pay in advance, you have no leverage. Also worth noting is when you call, about half the time no one answers. That added to my frustrations. The countertop is beautiful though, and I do love it. But this was an awful experience.

We contracted with Precision to install new granite countertops in our kitchen and pantry/laundry room, a total of about 110 square feet of granite. The completed installation looks good, with the exception of the matching at one of the two seams. In spite of the good looking result, we found Precision to be very lacking in their internal and customer communications, which resulted in an overly long process, frustration for us during the process, and the loss of scrap stone at the end. They assign you a coordinator, your only source for information. In the beginning we wanted to speak to someone knowledgeable about what is possible or not regarding seam matching in complex stones. We were never allowed to speak with anyone other than the coordinator. We were simply told that ?our people are very good at matching at the seams.? (Basically, "Trust us.") We selected our stone and put three slabs on hold (plenty sufficient from the standpoint of square footage). We called our coordinator to inform her of our selection. She called back shortly to tell us that we needed to have four slabs (that?s an additional $3500) in order to match the design and minimize the number of seams. So we put the fourth on hold. Then we waited, heard nothing for several weeks, and finally got a call from our coordinator telling us that time was running out and the granite supplier would not hold the slabs much longer. Huh? The next step was not ours, it was for Precision to pick up the slabs and make templates. Apparently they were waiting for us to give them some money, but they had never told us this nor asked for money. So weeks were lost. We immediately paid, templates were made a few weeks later, and we were sent photos showing the individual pieces to be cut, for our approval. It is impossible to tell from a photo on a computer screen what the actual pieces will look like for a complex design stone. Other companies that friends have used actually invite their clients into the factory to see the templates on the actual stone, so you can see the result. Had we been allowed to do this, we might have had a better match at one of the two seams. It looked OK on the small photos, but the actual result is less than satisfactory. The two brothers who created the templates, and did the actual installation, were great. Very communicative, very skilled, and very focused on doing a great job. The final communication failure regarded the scraps of stone. We had purchased about 200 square feet of stone, and about 110 feet were installed. I wanted all of the scraps. I like to tinker in my shop, to try my hand at making paper weights, lazy Susans, etc. This did not get communicated internally within Precision. I drove to the factory, spoke to both the factory manager and finally the boss. They agreed that there should have been a lot more scrap, searched the factory, and concluded that their sawyer threw away all but one 15 square foot piece. (They actually fired this employee a few days earlier.) They found and offered me a 32 square foot partial slab of the same stone from a different job, and delivered it to my garage (since I couldn?t quite handle a 960 pound stone myself). I ended up losing 43 square feet plus the sink cutouts, but do have a slab that could be used for a bathroom or bar in the future. They did their best to fix a bad situation, and I appreciated their efforts.

We got this vendor through Ikea. We purchased our cabinets at Ikea and visited the Precision branch in Kent to select the marble countertops and backsplash. Dan Annear was our salesman, We did work with Dawn Srigley in the back office, and Aleks did the backsplash installation. Everyone was very professional and they did a great job. They were well organized, punctual, cleaned up when they were done, and EXTRA CREDIT to Dawn who addressed some concerns we had about how the tile backsplash would work out. I'm a picky guy and I think they did a great job. I'd definitely use them again.

We purchase our new counter tops at Home Depot with Kyle Craigs help. He was wonderful by the way. We purchased at the end of one week and got a call the begining of the following week for someone to come out and do a consultation and measure the space. Just about a month later our new counter tops were installed. Victor with Precision Countertops did the install and he was wonderful. He did the job with pride, skill and compassion. He didn't leave until everything was perfect and we were happy, he even help my husband move the kitchen sink back in place. He also did a great job cleaning up after the installation.

I ordered granite countertops through Home Depot and Precision Countertops filled the order for us (in Missoula MT). The guys at Precision Countertops were absolutely the most professional group of guys I've ever encountered. Precision Countertop guys were right on time and made a template of the space out of a hard plastic then came back and installed the countertop with the most precision I've ever seen. These guys were so professional, they collected all their trash in their own trash can, had a vaccum to suck up the debris from cutting out the pieces for the sink....who does that? The countertops are beautiful and you can't see where the seam in the granite is. I would highly recommend these guys and commend Home Depot for using them for their customers!

We went through Home Depot to have our kitchen updated and they contracted through Precision for granite countertops and a tile backsplash. The price was very good but I must say you get what you pay for. We made our granite choice and set up a viewing appointment to see the actual piece of granite that was to be installed. When we went to the Kent warehouse, we found out that the granite slab that had been reserved for us had been sold to someone else. No apology was offered and we had to set another viewing appointment. Communications by email didn't work and phone calls to Precision were not always returned. I don't know if they're understaffed or just don't care about their customers. The measuring went well but the countertop install was a bit rough. Damage occurred to our cabinets and there also is now a large gap between counter and cabinets on one end. The installer told me this could have been resolved if we'd hired a cabinet installer to help. Well THAT would have been nice to know up front! On the other hand, the tile backsplash installer was vey good. He did his work professionally and the results of that element in our updated kitchen look fantastic. So we have a decent looking granite countertop with a less than stellar looking installation, a very good looking backsplash, purchased from a company that is vey difficult to deal with. You're at the mercy of whatever installer Precision assigns to your job. And don't expect good communications with Precision. We haven't yet received the emailed warranty (3 to 5 week delay) but I expect it will be useless if this company continues to operate this way.

I did not and will not use Precision Countertops for any further work at my home or rentals, nor will I ever recommend them to others!!!!
Description of Work: I started the process with Home Depot and Precision was the contractor that contacted me. The estimator and a co-worker did arrive on time and do the measuring, BUT as they were leaving the house I mentioned there was NO dishwasher to be dealt with. (They asked that question--why didn't they notice?) I waited nearly a week for a return email about the bid but heard nothing. I emailed the company and the reply was "I sent it to the wrong address and it bounced back." There WAS a phone number attached to the bid, but no one even bothered to call! When the email bid finally arrived, it included the cost of hooking the diswasher back up. Now, if I said and they heard there was NO dieshwasher (and they should have seen that during the meassuring) why did it not occur to them to leave the hook-up cost out? The attention to detail indicates that I will NOT be using Precision to complete my kitchen modernization! Perhaps this job was "too small," but I will be sure to let others know that Precison Countertops is not worth the effort, especially if it's not a "big" job!

They put new counter tops in our bathroom and they did this through Home Depot. They were very easy to work with; when they came to take the measurements they were very punctual. Their communication was good telling us if they could come earlier or if the counter tops took longer to make what the progress was like. We went to Precision Countertops as they are the installer for Home Depot. The saleswoman, Liz, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the Silestone product we were interested in. She was able to take our description of the kitchen and lifestyle and help us narrow down our choices to 3 possibilities. We chose to go with another contractor for a couple of reasons. The contractor we selected has over 30 A ratings with Angie's List, while Precision has substantially fewer. Also, the contract requires full payment before any work begins. It would have been a much more difficult decision if only half down was required, but that wasn't the case.

I called them to inquire about having them come out and modify something they installed and the person told me everyone was at lunch and I could leave a message. I left a message and no one called me back the entire day. I'll give them a chance to call me back before final judgement but they already get a bad grade for customer service. 72hrs and no call back, my report stands. They get an F for this because: 1. I told them in the message that they did the installation so I was coming to them for expertise - no response means they do not care about a long term relationship with their customers or... 2. They don't have the expertise - which I am sure is not the case because what I am asking them to do (also in the message) is very simple so then it must mean... 3. They don't care to do this type of work - which is fine it would take them less than 3min to call me and say, "thank you for your inquiry but we don't do that kind of work why don't you try X or Y outfit?" But really, this whole experience makes me feel like more likely they... 4. Don't care about customer service - which is why they get the F.

Replaced Counter tops and sink in kitchen - We wanted to upgrade our kitchen counter tops and we did not have a lot of information or knowledge about the process. Working with the Precision Countertops team, we gained a lot of knowledge, had a very clear picture of our options, pricing and the installation process. We initially looked at small samples of types and colors of counter tops available, but given the investment we were making we did not feel comfortable making a choice from the samples. (We: means my wife and I). We decided to go to the Precision Countertops fabrication facility where we met their great staff. We had the luxury to go through their inventory where we could see the full slabs of granite and other counter top options. We were able to preview and approve the layout that we were getting based on their design using the granite we selected. This preview was another step in their process to assure we were getting what we wanted. Wow, what a difference this made and we picked a color that matched out kitchen perfectly. The planning, templating and installation all went like clockwork. They had a project manger that walked us through the process, informed us of each step; commited to dates and times; met these dates and times. The outcome exceeded out expectations and the quality of work and the staff we worked with were totally professional. Dos: Take the time to meet with their team. Ask any and all the questions you can think of. View the inventory they have before you make a decision. If you have questions after you meet with them, give them a call, they are very willing to answer your questions. Be candid with your wants and your price range. They are great to work with. Don'ts: There are a wide variety of counter top materials available. Don't decide on type you want until you determine which type works best for your needs and your price range. Don't hesitate to ask questions, this is an investment that you will enjoy and it will increase the appeal of your kitchen if/when you decide to sell. Note: We knew we wanted to upgrade our kitchen when we sell our house. My wife is elated we did this now, so we can enjoy it over the next few years before we sell. In summary, based on our experience and our research Precision Countertops is a great place to work with.
