Called East Hill heating and Cooling on a Monday because my furnace was blowing cold air. They were going come out right away but I stupidly thought I fixed the problem and canceled. They were so kind when I called back, they rescheduled me for Wednesday morning due to my crazy work schedule. But since my furnace was really old (1989) they didn't have the part to fix the problem. Doug was nice of not to not charge me for his time and he ordered the part and rescheduled for Friday. By the time Friday rolled around we had some snow and my furnace froze over ending its long life. Once again Doug didnt charge me for his time and offered to get me a new furnace by Sunday morning at a great discount . On sunday he showed up an hour early to make sure the furnace was in and working before I had to leave for work. Doug and the wonderful lady I talk to on the phone, cindy, really made the cold and frustrating experience truly tolerable. Cindy kept me informed of Doug's arrival at all time and they were very prompt, professional, and extremely fair. I would never use anybody else.
Description of Work: came out 3 different times and provided me a great deal on an furnace.

I have used East Hill for many jobs such as electric heat pumps, gas furnace, and water heaters. The last job was replacing two water heaters. I am very satisfied with the work in every aspect. They have went out of their way to accommodate us as for as weekends, holiday etc. Will definitely use them in the future for any of the various jobs they do.

Our Bryant air conditioning system died a week ago, right as the warm weather in Seattle kicked in (of course!). I called East Hill Heating and Cooling after locating them on the Bryant website, and reading reviews. I was surprised that we only had to wait a couple of days for our first visit (not surprised they were busy!). The repair guy showed up right on time. After looking at our Air conditioner, he thought it was a fan problem and told us he'd be back Monday or Tuesday with a new fan motor. When he came back on Monday as promised, he found out it wasn't the fan motor, but just a fan sensor. He could have easily installed the fan motor and charged me for it instead of just the sensor, but he was honest and just put in the new sensor saving me hundreds of dollars!! What a great guy! Thanks East Hill, I'll definitely be using you again the next time we have a problem!

They were very professional and very friendly. Making an appointment was a very painless experience. They were friendly and courteous, and showed up on time. The water heater was quickly installed and for a very fair price. I must admit, I use East Hill Heating and Cooling any time I have an HVAC problem. I have used this company about 4 times now and will continue to do so. Their prices are very competitive and the work is exceptional.

We would use East Hill and recommend them to a friend. We were very happy with the service.
Description of Work: East Hill Heating and Cooling came out to inspect my heat pump that wasn't working properly. They figured out the problem in 30 minutes and gave me a reasonable estimate. The entire cost was roughly $700. They had the part ordered and the heat pump working the following week.

I called toward the end of December to get an estimate for a new furnace installed in a fixer I was purchasing. Christy set up the appointment and Doug her husband came out a few days later, gave me a bid which I thought very reasonable. They are a small, local company and I appreciated the personal service I received. I live in Bellingham and the fixer is in Renton so it was nice to find a company which was dependable and honest. The job went smooth from start to finish.

I called in the am hoping I could get someone to look at my heat pump prior to a pending heat wave. The scheduler was extremely pleasant and responsive. She told me she would attempt to squeeze me in and called me twice to update me on when Doug the repair person would arrive. Doug arrived and began inspecting my unit which I suspected may have been somehow disabled by a prior heater duct cleaning tech. As he was checking wires the unit kicked on. I was pleasantly surprised. When I asked how much I owned Doug told me nothing despite the fact he had spent 10 minutes at 6:30 at night at my place. I will definitely consider East Hill in the future. Greg

Great. will probably have them service the furnace regularly from now on.
Description of Work: Doug came out right on time and serviced a filthy furnace in my new home. He showed me how the filters should be placed and what size to buy in the future. He was kind and patient with me and programmed my thermostat as it seemed complicated. Actually I was ready to buy a new one and he saved me money by showing me that mine was a realitively new and efficient product. Doug also gave me an estimate for installing a new hot water heater. very reasonable. nice company to work with

Great, professional service. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: They did a general service on our gas furnace and our heat pump. Had not been done for about 6 years. Also replaced our pricey furnace filter at same price as we could buy it for in stores. They were prompt and Doug removed his shoes when he came in the house. Always appreciated.

We bought this 1994 home in November 2011. We are slowly making this home our own. The house is gas everything except the stove. We HATE the electric/ceramic top stove. Athough the stove that came with the house was only two years old, it had to go. We called East Hill Heating & Cooling on a Saturday for a quote. Beacon quoted us $1350 (40 feet of piping and the work involved) and East Hill quoted us $450. This was on the phone. On Monday, Doug came out to actually see what he had to do and the price was bumped up to $600. I TOTALLY understood why the cost was what it was. Doug arrived on Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. and left at 3:00 p.m. During this time he did five things for me - three that I wasn't planning on but SOOOOO happy that he could take care of it. This is what Doug did: 1. tied into the existing gas line that fed the water heater, furnace, fireplace. When he added the line for the stove, he put safety shut off valves for each of the appliances. The safety factor makes me feel very good. 2. Went into the crawl space of the house - you can only SIT in this crawl space - and ran 40plus feet of pipe from one side of the house to the other, for the new stove. 3. I had a 220 volt for the electrical because we had an electric stove. We needed to downgrade to 120v since going to gas. I NEVER thought of this. Magic - Doug can do this. He fit the breaker box for the 120v AND made it so a regular/120v appliance could plug in. The house can always be upgraded back to the higher voltage as well as the breaker box. 4. Doug INSTALLED the stove for me. Hooked it up and made sure it worked. My 1994 furnace - found out I was really wrong on the filters (as well as the previous owners.) - I'll take care of that. I have a fan that is an outtake. It runs ALL THE D*** TIME and it effects my thermostat. We were all tempted to just take a sledge hammer to it. Doug fixed it. It doesn't run all the time now. This was HUGE for me. Doug also looked at my fireplace. In short, Doug did two things I expected (gas line and installation of stove) and three things I "added" (the electrical, the furnace checkup, the outtake fan, ok - 4 - the fireplace.) I have my new HVAC guy (he can't retire) and most pleased with everything.
Description of Work: New gas line put in to accomodate a gas stove. Reviewed my gas furnace and did some electrical (to support the gas stove.) Took care of an annoying fan that never turned off (related to the furnace). One stop shopping for sure.

When my furnas stop working I checked with Angie's List to find a HVAC Company as I had no idea who to use. I based my decision on where the company was located and there rating.I choose East Hill and despite some phone difficulties on there part we set a time for them to come out. They appeared on time, however without the proper part and had to come back. They did and quickly fixed my problem.

Person troubleshot the problem until he was convinced it was in the computer before installing a new board. It still had a problem andhe traced it to a switch and fixed that. The flame was fluttering around and he opend a port and it immediately settled right down. The combustion inlet is still undersize but he proved it before he left rather than some generic suggestion to have it looked at.
Description of Work: The furnace would start up but not continue. Person determined the computer board was bad. Also found a bad switch and pointed out the flame was indicating the furnace was being choked for combustion air, despite me having just put in greatly enlarged inlet piping than what the initial installer did. Nobody does this stuff cheaply but East Hill was a little less than what others were quoting. I was very happy he kept at it until he had all issues in hand without jacking up the bill. This is what I need in any service technician and East Hill delivered.

I chose East Hill because of their knowledge about the work, their punctuality, honesty and price. I had 5 companies bid to install a new furnace, and East Hill beat some by $10,000 and the closest by $4000. (For the same duct work, size furnace, etc!) I was very satisfied with their work, he even removed and disposed of my old oil heater for no charge. He was very willing to work with me on duct placement and how everything would fit together. I would highlyrecommend this company to anyone looking for a new heater or service.
Description of Work: East Hill Heating and Cooling installed a new Gas Furnace, complete with all the duct work, registers, and returns. Additionally, they removed an old brick fireplace and installed a new tankless water heater.

For six weeks, our furnace has been making a "squeak" noise that was getting louder and finally decided we should have someone look at it. We contacted East Hill Heating and they scheduled an appointment within a couple days. Doug came out and -- very frustratingly -- the squeaking noise stopped. Isn't that how it always works? Ugh. Anyhoo, he was very professional and thoroughly tested the blower motor for an hour. He determined that it was drawing too many amps. Apparently this is a sign a motor can be going out along with squeaking or other noises. So at least we didn't feel crazy! He probably could have suggested replacing the motor, but instead said we could possibly get months or even years out of the current one. Since a new motor is $500-ish, we were relieved. He took the part numbers and specs and said if the motor goes out, they could replace it within a couple days or less. I was impressed by their professionalism and honesty. I'd definitely recommend them again.

Doug was very thorough with the servicing of my residential furnace. He told me to watch the drain as it was sloped a bit up and he wanted me to be sure that if there was a freeze, the pipe could freeze and water could then back up into the garage. He did adjust the pipe to remove as much of the slope as he could. He looked at the thermostat and told to ensure it was working property (not) due to a dead battery. At my rental, I had tried to hook up a new thermostat but could not get it to work. He identified a blown fuse at the furnace, replaced it and ensure the thermostat was correctly installed. All is good.
Description of Work: I had a furnace serviced at my residence and also had a thermostat replaced (customer provided) at a rental property. The price for both services was approximately $110.

Doug came out on an emergency basis the same day we called. We had another service provider remove old fiberglass insulation and install new fiberglass insulation in our crawlspace. They did not do a good job of sealing off their work area, and there was dust everywhere. The other workers had eclosed a cold air return in their workspace, so we were worried that all that dust had gone through the furnace, and might have caused damage. Doug came to our place after finishing a long day elsewhere. He inspected the furnace and set our minds at ease -- no real damage had been done. And he refused to charge us! (maybe because we are loyal customers - we had Doug install our heating and air conditioning system a few years ago, and have him out twice a year to inspect the system). Doug is always honest and fair - he'll do the right thing!

Our furnace would kick on, but after a few minutes, it would shut down. It was below freezing outside, and we could not get the tempature in our home to rise over 60 derees. We called East Hill Heating & Cooling and got their voice mail. I left a message and Christy called back within 10 minutes; and had Doug (the owner) at our house within an hour. We were concerned we would be facing a big expense, but Doug found our filters in the furnace were just plugged. He put in new filters and cleaned it all up and we were warm in no time. He aslo stuck around and answered some gas related questions I had. We will certainly be calling them with any heating or cooling needs we have in the future, clearly these are good honest people.
