Very thorough inspection. Though more recommendations were made than I could pay for, they were not pushy about it. I took care of the needed repairs and they are on track for quarterly inspections and treatments.

It's good and they were on time. They do an explanation and they were very detailed. My only concern with them was that that's a townhouse and not a single family so when I purchased it, the warranty doesn't cover the townhouse.

The initial contact to make the arrangement was easy, Jen was very sweet and responsive. Ben came out, he was punctual, professional, and thorough. He told me that crawl space vent were torn, believing that there had to be rats going in and out. He also pointed out that a couple of birds made their way into a hole where screens where torn. He suggested (1) do a complete full inspection and propose a plan to fix all these issue and (2) purchase the annual, quarterly treatment plan. I got talked into #2, but did not buy the $700 sealing off the screens deal, seems a lot of put on new screens to prevent rats and birds from going in. Up to that point, it was all fine. When I went home and looked the service agreement we signed, it turned out to be a 5-time treatment over 10-month period. Keep in mind the initial treatment was on 4/11, they wanted to come back a month later in May to begin the quarterly treatment, with the other 3 in August, November and February, which would make it 5X over 10 months duration. I asked them, "doesn't annual quarterly treatment mean 4 times over 12 months?" They said that's just the way it was designed, I asked, "Why would I need you to come back only a month after I have the treatment?" "That's just the way we do it." Again, not good response. I wasn't going to let them get away with misleading me into getting 5 treatments over 10 months, I called the operations manager, and was able to get him to revise the service agreement to have the 2nd treatment start in July, with last one in April 2015. I still end up with 5 treatments over 12 months period, and am not happy about that, and for that reason I'd not consider using them again after this agreement is over. Because of their misleading practice, now I can't even count on them actually being there when the treatment comes - pest control treatment isn't something you can visual see after they're done, how would I know they won't send a bill telling me they had gone but hadn't, unless I'm present to see it for myself. I maybe over concerned but after feeling misled, I have no confidence in what may or may not happen.

This and previous service visits have been fantastic! Kris is our regular technician we love his visits. Certainly a funny thing to say about a pest control guy! We called United after some severe difficulties with another local highly rated pest control company. Chris was a class act from the start saying that he was surprised as this competitor usually did very good work. Chris's excellence matches his class as he figured out the problem spot at our house. We live a a very wooded area and one corner of our house seems to attract rat activity. Given our previous difficulties we are little paranoid about pest intrusions. Chris's consistent reviews of our attic and crawl space give us some piece of mind that the creatures aren't getting in. We switched services awhile ago but I remember that our cost didn't change much even as the quality of our service went up. I have and will continue to recommend United Pest Solutions when my friends and co-workers run into pest problems.

We hope that you will find a suitable time to redeem your Big Deal purchase and that we will have the opportunity to serve you well, or we can refund your purchase. As to the Deal, the service purchased was entitled "Preventative Interior and Exterior"... Of course, it's in everyone's best interest that our services deliver the best possible results, so while we will treat preventatively, we will treat thoroughly. The hard part is that, and it's a good thing, is that our materials, due to EPA regulations will only last so long. That's great for the health of your family, but it does little in providing long term control. Given the built in limitations of materials and the unending neighborhood pest pressures, the only time we can truly guarantee the effectiveness is when we are routinely visiting a property to make sure all is in good order for the coming months. So, whether it's a long term solution you are looking for or to cure an existing infestation, the Big Deal is not the right deal. We will, as we did with this member, apply the purchase toward the right solution. The Big Deal preventative treatment is well... preventative. It's for members who are anticipating a problem this spring and want to make their home "unpleasant" for the seasonal would be intruder; preventing them from taking up residence. While I regret your disappointment and look forward to the opportunity to turn your experience to positive, I do appreciate the opportunity your comments provide to clarify our services for the membership. DO NOT use this company. At least not for rodent services. We had United Pest Solutions come out to look at a mouse problem we've had. They came out were here for about 1 hour or so and did a full inspection, and laid down 4 mousetraps. Then they handed me a bill for $355 for the service. I asked if they fixed the areas where the mice were getting in (a broken vent to our crawl space) and he said, no, that's an extra cost. He then handed me an estimate for $475 to fix a vent and lay down some river rock. $475!! So a total fee of $830. I called them the next day to explain why their $355 cost didn't include anything more than a 1 hour inspection. They explained it also included a checkup 2 weeks later, where they would check 4 mousetraps they laid, but all "construction work" was extra. I argued that a check up on mousetraps 2 weeks later is completely meaningless if they didn't fix where the mice were getting in. I already knew we had a mouse problem! They said they clearly explained the program over the phone before coming out and there is nothing they can do. I immediately called a few other companies in the area and asked them what their service included. EVERY SINGLE one of them said they don't charge for inspections and only charge for fixing the problems. I had a different company come out. For $325, they did a full inspection, cleaned out a few things in our crawl space, fixed the vent and another access point and even laid bait traps around our house to prevent mice from coming in. No extra charges. $325 total. United Pest Solutions wanted $830 for less work since that didn't include bait traps. I talked to the owner today, who did discount the $355 service fee since I wasn't having them come out a 2nd time, but repeatedly told me that they clearly explained their service over the phone and it is what it is. On their web site, as part of their service it says, "This normally means incorporating environmental controls such as excluding access to harborage and food sources which make it less desirable for pests to inhabit your home." Apparently Not. Unless you want to pay an extra $500. Very disappointed. Do not use them for any rodent issues.

We regret that we did not meet your expectations and we welcome this as an opportunity to find a way to better our communication with our clients. Our hope is that each and every client receives exactly what they were anticipating and that those anticipations are clearly discussed and reviewed before we begin work. We make every effort to ensure that our clients fully understand what is included, what is not included, and why our services are set up they way they are. Such is the service that you received. You acknowledged to our Customer Service Representative, that indeed you did understand in advance of your appointment that as a part of that first billable appointment we would give you an estimate of exclusion needs and the additional costs. I believe the true issue is over our cost of the exclusion and the "why" of that cost, and I understand that. For years we tried to not charge people commensurate with the true value of our services. We were afraid of the sticker shock. But in the end, we ended up under serving our clients and operating at a rate less than our expenses. In the end, our clients had rodents re-entering, causing more damage, requiring more financial outlay from our clients. Our attempt at keeping our costs too low led to poor service and frustrated clients. Something had to change. Today, we are very proud of our service. United has always taken great pride in the way we relate to our clients. We have added to that the technical excellence our clients ought to expect, the service that will give our clients the greatest return on their investment. So, yes, there are all sorts of companies that will do the work for less, but less is not always the same. We hope that despite your frustration that in the end you believe that you were treated fairly and honestly. We spent 1.75 hours crawling and inspecting your home and setting the traps to begin the control. We had set in motion the best approach for a long term solution. For the same $355, as we had discussed we were going to continue the control with another service visit. When you cancelled, we readily agreed to lower the $355 to reflect only the services you had received to date. (I believe you spoke with our Service Manager, as opposed to the owners.) The only thing we could not do is revert back to a business model that in the long run would leave you with a false sense of security and potentially more problems and costs in the future. United Pest Solutions has served the greater Puget Sound area for over 60 years! We are exceedingly grateful for the trust our clients and the Angie's List community continues to place in us. We hate to disappoint and believe we can always do better. In this case, we will take this feedback to better our communication. Thank you for the opportunity to improve! United Pest Solutions were great. I was traumatized by having rats in my home. They were professional, came exactly when scheuled and did an all-around great job. Shout out to Chris the technician - he was great! Its hopefully the end to my problem!

Miguel was great! I had heard mice in a wall in our bedroom and he came and checked all over the house, attic and crawl space. He didn't find any sign of the little buggers, which was good. He did say I should consider having the garage door people come out and add a strip to the door so that it's more if a tight fit. I think he could tell I was uncomfortable so as a precaution, he set a few traps around the garage doors. I would recommend them and seek them out again for my pest needs.

Their technicians are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have been spraying our house for a couple of years now and we have had no problems. One thing that is especially critical to us is that they not affect any of the fish in our Koi pond. They call a couple of days before they are going to come out, show up when they say and offer suggestions on any problem areas they see.

Used this vendor for several years with relatively good service. But my cancellation process was horrible. I told the technician that I was selling the property when he informed me that there was an increase in pests in late July. Then called and told United in August that I sold the building and didn't want further service. Received a second notice on Dec 26th that I hadn't paid my bill. I called and was informed by Rick that I hadn't given a 30 day written notice and that someone called in November to cancel service. That just isn't true. And when I told the technician I was selling the building and called to cancel the service not one told me I needed to give 30 days written notice. I think this is a gouge. This whole thing leaves a bad taste. I will not use this service again. Ever.

As most will understand, it is common in business to provide and to require written cancellation notice. However, in many ways we prefer to do things the old fashioned way, on a hand shake. In the same way, we accepted your “verbal” notice on the date you called, November 12th. Our outstanding Angie’s List reputation attests to our integrity and outstanding care and concern for our clients. As much as we desperately strive to preserve the trust and care of our clients, we also seek to desperately care for our company, to vouch for our character, so that we can continue to grow as a strong and vibrant part of our community. To this end, I need to share with our Angie’s List members the series of events that have led us to hold our position on this matter: Much of the confusion regarding your account comes down to a timeline of events and the questions that time line raises: You mention that you told the technician directly during the summer that you were “selling the building”. Our technician, who has never had a claim against his integrity in the years he has worked with us, has no knowledge of this interchange. Further, many people “selling homes” continue their service through the closing date (which appears to be the truth in this instance) and, therefore, we would not infer from such a statement that the account was cancelled. You mention that you called in August to cancel the service and that you had sold the building. There are no records of any such call. We serviced the property, according to its monthly program on August 19th. We did not receive a complaint or comment that this was beyond your expectation. We serviced the property again on September 24th, and an invoice was mailed to the member. Again, we received no indication of any problems or misunderstanding. We serviced the property yet again on October 23rd, and an invoice went out to the member. We received no indication of any issues. On October 30th you paid your August invoice. Still, at this late date, there still was no mention of complaint or concern about the September or October invoices in his possession. You called to cancel our service on November 12th stating that the sale had closed that very day. Still, you did not make any mention of concern over the past two months of service. You called on January 15 to dispute the September and October invoices. This was the first time this issue had been brought to our attention despite your two other interactions with us on Oct 30th and November 12th. Please understand that it is not our intent nor our practice to pursue business in the manner you are portraying. We would not have done so astonishingly well on Angie’s List were that the case. Rather, we have built our business on tireless effort invested in building trust, something our community sorely lacks. However, along the way, we have learned that our business character deserves to be trusted and defended as well. Our continued success over the last 5 decades points to the fact that we truly care for our customers. Our reputation on Angie’s List attests to this as well. However, given the timeline of events, the multiple opportunities to sound alarms if we had dropped the ball, misunderstood, misconstrued, or had done anything beyond your wishes, none of which you undertook, we believe it is reasonable to expect payment for the services rendered. He did a great job sealing the house to prevent any future problems and set out traps and checked on them later to be sure the problem was eliminated. He was really responsive and was very helpful in helping us understand what was going on and how we could prevent future serious issues.

United Pest Solutions was the only one of three companies that I checked that would go directly after the heart of the wasp nests. The other companies were only going to use their more powerful chemicals but I already tried spraying the nest, and I didn't want to pay a lot of money to do what I already tried. United Pest Solutions was a little more expensive than other companies but they got the job done, and there have been no wasps from the nest for over a month now. They were very professional and courteous. They arrived on time and finished as expected. I highly recommend their service.
Description of Work: I noticed wasps flying in and out of a crack in the siding of my house. I sprayed the nest multiple times, but it didn't work. They drilled a small hole in the siding and inserted a tube to directly spray the nest.
