Response from Tree Resource
Our company has been offering Big Deal promotions through Angie’s List as a way to reach new customers. A typical deal is for a 50 percent discount from a pre-purchased amount of service, in this member’s case, a $200 discount from the entire bill that only cost him $99. We receive a portion of the $99 paid and Angie’s List keeps the rest. We are very diligent in pricing all of our work in a consistent manner. And we’ve had much feedback from our customers that our prices are often higher than other quotes they may have received. However, we do not market our business as being the cheapest. Rather we want to have a reputation for meeting and/or exceeding a published national standard for tree care known as the ANSI A300. All arborists should know of this standard; unfortunately most do not. In fact there are approximately 1000 tree service providers in the Puget Sound metropolitan area and if someone is looking for a cheap price all they need to do is keep looking; I guarantee that there will be a company that will be half of what we charge or perhaps even less. Some of them even advertise in such a manner.
