These guys are great- a real pleasure to work with very high integrity. ( They kept every promise they made and then some). As with many major repairs or upgrades to ones home there are often a few glitches or follow-up items, but the entire team at All Star took care of every glitch, every question (even my stupid ones) very quickly, efficiently and graciously. From the start, Matthew who provided the estimate spent a lot of time with me listening to my needs and how I would like to improve the evenness of the heat in the house. He provided 3 very detailed proposals & gave them to me the same day. I really felt he was honestly aiming to offer us the "right-sized" & best solution for our needs-not the highest price. Great follow-up from him even after the installation. The installation team was very nice & respectful of the work space and were meticulous in their clean up (a pet peeve I had shared in advance). The Service Manager and office staff are exceptional! Honestly, I cannot say how pleased we are. We will be using them again. In fact, I have been looking for someone to replace the company who services our gas fireplaces and HOORAY, AllStar offers this service too---so we are switching. They are absolutely our go-to company for all things HVAC related. BTW: The new furnace is fabulous.

I purchased a new Trane Heat Pump from All Star 4 years ago. I had them service it each year. Around the 2nd year I noticed a strange loud noise every so often from the unit. They came out and said everything was fine.. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and after mentioning the strange noise the technician he finally figured out that the refrigerant reversing valve was broken. Even though I communicated my concerns about the noise while the full warranty was in effect, All Star (Chris) refused to cover the labor. They wanted over $1500 to do the repair. I offered to have them provide me with the parts that were under warranty and I would find a more reasonable technician/company but they refused. Unprofessional. Unreliable. Zero integrity.
Description of Work: The tech discovered that the refrigerant reversing valve, the TXV, and the filter drier were defective.

On 4/7/2015, All Star Heating was called to the Keys Residence for a service call for no air conditioning. At that time, the customer informed our service manager that after we performed the preventative maintenance in 9/4/2014, he had heard the air conditioner make a loud noise, but had forgotten to call and let All Star know or make a service call. At that point our service manager informed him that he had a 10 year limited warranty through Trane, which was a parts only warranty, no labor warranty and the customer agreed. When our service technician arrived at the home and completed his diagnosis, he found that the TXV, reversing valve, refrigerant, and filter drier would need to be replaced. A quote for the work was prepared in the office and emailed to the customer on 4/10/2015, the customer then asked if we could break down the cost of the quote, which we did and sent him a revised quote the same day. The customer called All Star a few weeks later and asked if we would send the parts and all material needed directly to him and cover them under warranty. Our service manager then contacted the customer and informed him that the parts can only be turned in under warranty if a licensed (Trane) HVAC contractor replaces them, and that we cannot sell refrigerant by federal law, we are required by the EPA to monitor all refrigerant that we purchase and cannot release refrigerant to anyone who is not licensed. At that point when the customer was informed legally we cannot sell all material necessary to complete the repairs, nor would we be able to warranty the parts if we did not install them, he became very upset and hung up on our service manager. All Star Heating installed the Heat Pump at the Keys residence on 6/4/2010, the next time a service call was placed with All Star Heating was 5/8/2013 due to no air conditioning, and at that time the technician that was on the service call found that the system had not been serviced and performed a maintenance. The technician also signed the customer up for an annual Preventative Maintenance Agreement for the next year (2014), which was performed on 9/4/2014 (per customer’s request) which at that time the customer chose not to resign the Preventative Maintenance Agreement for 2015. Woke up to a cold, cold house this morning. Friends had used this company to repair and ultimately replace their furnace last year, and were happy with the service; they are the sort that are not shy about being critical about services, so I always know if they're happy, it means things went flawlessly. I'm not that picky, but I'm happy to use their pickiness to my advantage! Anyway, despite it being a Sunday, I got a prompt answer, followed by an equally prompt call back from the on-call guy, who said he could schedule a service window for the same morning. I was super happy to hear that the service window was only an hour - none of this drop-everything-and-wait-for-4-hours stuff, ay! - and even happier that the diagnostic fee on the call was the same today as other reviewers have cited for non-emergency-weekend calls. So far so good! The technician - Serghei - arrived early in the appointment window, tolerated my very, very vocal large dogs with excellent humor, and had my heat up and running in a matter of minutes. It turns out the igniter switch thingee (yes, that's the technical term) had shorted out, but there were spares on-hand courtesy of my house's prior owner. So, he was able to replace that with only a 30 minute labor cost. He suggested, but did not at all forcefully upsell, the idea of doing a tune up and cleaning and etc. while he was on site, and explained the savings if I elected to prepay next year's service, too. All the math sounded fine, and better still, was still under the mental budget I had set for what I assumed was going to be a super-spendy Sunday service disaster, so we went ahead. As an added bonus: obviously, I had been lax about filter changes - the furnace is in the creepy crawlspace which is off the equally creepy basement, and honestly, I like to pretend neither of those areas of my property even exist. Serghei took the time to make signs on the furnace itself to show where things would go and facing which direction, just so that I could be a more responsible, efficient furnace user in the future. I'll try. Really. And if - ok, fine, when - I fail, at least I know I can call All Star!
Description of Work: Replaced igniter on furnace, tuned and cleaned furnace, replaced filters, and am scheduled to have the same done again next year (pre-paid it)

This review was written October 16, 2014, following my annual preventative maintenance appointment. I chose All Star to install a Trane CleanEffects air filter into my Trane Furnace in Year 2009. I have purchased their annual preventative maintenance contract every year since. The nature of the contract provides me with confidence that my furnace is ready-to-go at the beginning of each season. Although I have never had to call for service between annual maintenance appointments, I find it doubling reassuring to know that should I need it, this company and its excellent staff of experienced, confident, courteous, and professional staff (including their alert and friendly receptionist) are ready to take my call. I am happy to recommend this company to my friends because they truly represent "Quality Products backed up with Quality Service." I had originally setup an appointment earlier this month but upon being called away unexpectedly on business, had to reschedule. The receptionist easily handled my request and setup the new appointment. I received a call about 20 minutes before the technician arrived, and the annual inspection and cleaning occurred exactly as planned.

Description of Work: Provider came out and did a quote for a heat pump and provided quote while onsite. Had 3 other quotes completed and All Star provided the best service and pricing as well as quality of products. They then had availability to come out the same week and install our heat pump, they took care of all the electrical contractor scheduling and arrived on time and finished the install 5 hours later.

This is the 3rd home I have had All Star install A/C in over a 10 year time period. From start to finish, darn near flawless performance. They were among the least expensive quotes while using premium hardware, and the execution is exactly what was described ahead of time. I always get multiple bids, but I haven't used anyone other than All Star for years.

Based on the excellent service we received from them for our second opinion, we went with them to perform the replacement work that was needed, and also switched our maintenance contract from another provider to All Star. They were the most responsive, thorough, professional and detail oriented company I have ever worked with for home maintenance work. From the technicians that came to our home during the process, Robert and Christopher, right on up to the owner, Patrick, I couldn't have been more pleased with their knowledge, honesty, integrity and skill. They took a lot of time to walk me through the process and educate me thoroughly on the issues and options. I would highly recommend them to anybody who needs heat/AC service.

Came at the end of a 3 hour range. They had told me they would call in advance of the window to narrow it down for me. No such call. The diagnostics fee is a required $98 regardless if the problem is obvious and if it takes 0 minutes or 200 minutes. I needed a motor replaced and it was obviously seized. I understand that it's typical in the industry to require it to circumvent a typical home owners' faulty diagnosis. the 1/2 HP motor was ~$500 on top of the "diagnostic" fee. That same engine can be purchased with free shipping by Amazon for $87-160 or home depot for $95 (plus a $2 capacitor). Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a hurry and needed the result sooner than I could do myself or call to quote the job by others. The professional was courteous and work took about 2 hours (about right). They offered a discount on the job if I pre-paid for next years maintenance, which came within $50 of paying for the maintenance itself. While I was happy with the result, I feel the price was a bit high compared to what I would have paid for a similar vendor and especially if I had done it myself.

Let’s face it, we all cringe when we have to call for furnace repair…the repair bills are rarely dirt cheap. Many customers assume that HVAC contractors are economic rapists and rolling in the dough–how can they not with the prices they charge? As an HVAC contractor, WE cringe when we quote repair bills, and unfortunately we are NOT rolling in the dough. The profit margins for this business are low. Here’s the straight skinny. To get a qualified and experienced service technician out to your home, in a truck outfitted with freon and the multitudinous parts and pieces needed for the on-the-spot repair, and with all the various tools needed to facilitate repairs…it costs the contractor around $75-$85 per HOUR. How is this calculated? First of all, almost half of that figure is the technician’s hourly wage. They make good money, and deservedly so….they must have a tremendous book of knowledge coupled with tremendous diagnostic skills. Add this to the fact that they are always working in extreme temperature conditions, and you come up with an extremely demanding job. They are rather like doctors that have to work in temperatures from bone-chilling cold to blistering heat (as an example, evaporator coil change outs in attics can have the tech in temperatures as high as 120 degrees). Now,. Take a look at the technician’s service vehicle. It is outfitted with thousands of dollars’ worth of capacitors, relays, Freon, specialty tools, motors, fuses, nitrogen, oxygen…the list goes on and on. Now consider what the insurance rate is on a vehicle that carries this kind of inventory PLUS hazardous chemicals. It’s outrageous. Add rising fuel costs to the picture (gas mileage on a weighed-down vehicle is poor to say the least). We all know the cost to own and maintain a vehicle…not cheap, even if you aren’t driving it all day, every day. The final piece to the puzzle are all the usual fees, taxes, and insurance premiums that small businesses must pay to keep employees employed. These alone are startlingly high, and unfortunately with the current political and economic climate, they are only getting worse. Add all this up…the picture is bleak for offering low-cost repair fees. When you see companies offering rock-bottom service call rates, you can rest assured that they are banking on making their money back with upsells and unnecessary repairs. Buyer beware when you see service calls being advertised for anything lower that $80!

It went great! This is a new home to us and the technition was familiar with the furnace since he had serviced it before. He showed me how to do the monthly filter cleaning. The heat pump is running much better now from just cleaning the filters so problem solved!! He also educated me on duct cleaning, and how to protect my furnace and ducts when the hardwood floors are installed. He also gave important info on replacing the floor grates so I do not reduce the air flow. Thank you All Star!!
Description of Work: They did an annual service on two furnaces and cleaned the air filters. I also pre purchased 2 service plans for the next year for both furnaces at a pretty good savings since I bought it in advance. We are having them clean the very dirty ducts next week.

My Bryant furnace needed servicing and was not heating the house. Also, the thermostat was displaying "system malfunction". The company was responsive to my calls and had a service man out to my house. They serviced the furnace. It had a part that was worn out and needed to be replaced. The technician was able to get the part the next day. They came out to my house and replaced the part within 10 minutes. I asked to have the thermostat replaced. The one installed with the furnace was difficult to program. They installed a new one that is easy program. I am happy with the company's responsiveness and service level.
Description of Work: Replaced a part in a Bryant furnace. The was not heating the house and the thermostat was displaying "system malfunction".

All the work was done well and in a timely manner. On the second job, they over-estimated the cost and ultimately adjusted the amount due in our favor. This was done without issue. Without hesitation, I will use this company again.

On both occasions, the responding technician was prompt and courteous.
Description of Work: ON 11/13/09 I retained All Star Heating to get my Electronic Filtration system operating on my furnace. It took only 10 minutes since a switch was simply clogged with dust. They chaged $135.90. On 3/10/11 I retained them to get my furnace started. It turned out that there was a second power switch to the furnace that was turned off. That call took 5 minutes. They charged $107.31. I was grateful for the responses, but wont use them again because of the excessive pricing.

I'm sorry you think we charge you to much to fix your furnace, unfortunately the technicians we send out to your house are up to date in their training and education. Think of it like your car, a belt cost $60 would you let the high school kid with no experience change it? We take your safety and the safety of everyone who lives in your house seriously. We send you the best trained technicians and unfortunately we have to pay them, train them, and stock their vans with parts. We also need to pay the office people who took your call. Again I am sorry but we take this very seriously and I won't send an untrained person to represent this company.

Allstar HVAC was very responsive from the start. We waived the usual diagnostic trip since it was clear my tank was old and shot (it was leaking onto the garage floor). An estimator came out to work up a bid and gave me several options -- including going tankless. He was not sleazy or insistent. He was expeditious and helpful. Since I do not plan on spending many years in this house, I chose an efficient, but not top-of-the-line tank. The bid included tearing out and hauling away the old tank. The workers showed up at the very start of the installation window and started immediately. They were extremely professional needed very little direction or info. They showed me the quote and reviewed the plan -- and there were no surprises (add ons, changes, etc.). They even fixed a wacky expansion tank setup left over from the developer -- with no apparent extra charge. I paid the exact amount that was on the quote sheet. I chose this company because of their integrity and professional work on help with my furnace (different report) whereby they could have ripped me off, like the other companies (telling me my furnace was simply old, and was past it's time), but yet correctly diagnosed the (fixable) issue.
Description of Work: Replacement of a broken hot water heater (tank). Included new copper pipes, modifying the gas line (due to new tank configuration -- tanks now have built-in insulation, which makes them wider) and re-aligning the expansion tank.

First, let me state that I am not making an assertion that All Star is a bad company and I do understand that this report should considered only a single data point. I encountered an All Star Heating & AC truck while I was driving to work on SR-520. The truck was in one lane and I was in the other. Traffic speed was perhaps an average of 35MPH. I was driving an SUV and so of course was very visible. The All Star truck pulled in front of me just a few feet from my bumper, without signaling. My expectation is that corporate use vehicles are marked with "How am I driving?" and contact information, and that staff are trained to drive conservatively and safely. Driving is a behavior and the behavior of a company's personnel reflects on the company's professionalism. In this case, All Star let me down on both of my expectations - their employee chose to drive agressively and dangerously and the company doesn't appear to care how their employees drive since they do not solicit the appropriate feedback. This demonstrates a lack of professionalism in at least one aspect of their business.
Description of Work: I did not have All Star perform services. I am reporting on the company's professionalism solely based upon one interaction with one of their staff members driving on SR-520.

My only complaint is that we pre-paid for the cleaning the year before, and they didn?t call to schedule like they were supposed to do. I had to call them. It?s a cleaning so I can?t tell what they did, but as far as I know they are fine. They are nice, easy to schedule and flexible. I don?t have any other complaints. Everything is expensive to me, but when I did some research their prices were more reasonable than a lot of people.

Great experience throughout bid process, all questions were addressed and handled professionally. I would recommend this company. I chose to go with a brand that they did not sell, otherwise I would have selected them.
