Description of Work: Removal of 80' Hemlock. This is the second time we have used Mark and the team at Northwest Arbor Care. Both times, we have been exceedingly pleased with their responsiveness and attention to detail. The crew of 4 arrived early and worked diligently to remove an '80 Hemlock tree which was threatening power lines. The huge tree was removed without incident over a period of 4+ hours. Their cleanup was immaculate, delivering the chipped branches to a neighbor who wanted them for her garden, and sweeping the street where they left the cord wood so that we could give it away to neighbors and friends. While our need was for a proactive tree removal before a potential loss, as an insurance agent I've also had clients who needed help after a storm has caused damage. I feel very comfortable recommending Northwest Arbor Care for any tree trimming or removal need.

Description of Work: "This company was hired to trim a line of trees, (below a cable wire), growing as a hedge, along 2 roads, and to trim a Yew Tree in the front yard. The 2 tree cutters were 5 hours late, they were rushed, with another job waiting for their services, this was at the end of the day. The tree cutting was very uneven, irregular, and the trees were cut at different heights, not the expected outcome or desired look of a hedgerow. The trees, bordering the front street, were cut below the height, Mark's brother and I discussed, during our initial meeting. The tree debris, left in the yard, after the workers had gone, filled a yard waste bin, consequently, it was not chipped, for our use, as was specified in the contract. The main trunk of a forsythia was broken off, and the shrub was not replaced or compensated for. |This was a very poor job, at any price, although, the tree cutters did return to trim the Yew tree more evenly, leaving that debris, also. In talking with Mark, regarding the job, he hung up on me. Besides being rude, this was very unprofessional. I sent Mark 2 letters, detailing the deficiencies, prior to the phone calls. The lesson learned, have a very detailed contract, including damage control. The price paid was $500.00."

Description of Work: Can't say enough good things about this crew, from fair pricing, to efficient timely service, to final clean up, the tree removal was flawless. 5 trees in <4 hours, WOW! Miscommunication about stump removal caused minimal delay but was resolved in a professional manner. This is the company to use.

Description of Work: This was the 2nd time I used NW Arbor Care. A neighbor & I agreed to have three of the neighbor's alders removed, the neighbor wanted dead and dying limbs from an evergreen removed, and I had a dying tree to be removed. Two separate bids were written up (one for the neighbor's trees, one for mine). The owner's brother was here right on time to do the work. The three alders were removed quickly and efficiently. Communication broke down over how much of the evergreen to limb; the neighbor had a different view from the man doing the work, which wasn't clearly understood from the written bid. The work was completed to my neighbor's satisfaction, but sort of grudgingly. The men were packed up and ready to leave at that point, but returned to work when I pointed out that there was another tree to remove, and the owner and I had agreed that the men would leave the wood chips in my driveway. They didn't have that paperwork, so didn't know about that second job. All was finally accomplished, again quickly and efficiently. I was at fault for not remembering from the prior work two years ago that the stump grinding and removal of the chunks of wood were not included in the bid. That was another transaction, which meant, most likely, at least a couple of hundred more dollars, to be dealt with. In the future I will most likely look for a provider who includes stump grinding and removal of the chunks of wood as part of the original bid.

Description of Work: The contractor was hired to trim and thin numerous trees to allow more sunlight to our grass. When the team arrived at the property to do the work a discussion ensued that suggested that the owners recommended treatment was erroneous. The work was done, albeit at a much reduced level. The owner of the company indicated that he would adjust the invoice accordingly. We didn't pay the original invoice pending receipt of the "adjusted" invoice. Within a week the owner knocked on our door and demanded payment. We inquired about the adjusted invoice and he said "just make it $1000 and make it to me personally."(down from $1400) Needless to say we found the tactics less than appropriate and frankly unacceptable in regard to the follow through for the adjusted invoice, the collection tactics and the "just make it to me personally". In the end the trees look great but without drama of dealing with the owner.

Description of Work: NW Arbor service trimmed and Hawthorne tree in my front yard. This is third time I have used them. They always do an excellent job. They responded quickly to give me an estimate after I called them and then performed the work on the day promised.

Description of Work: The first time I contacted Mark and set up an appointment he didn't show, and I was concerned. But he apologized, explained that he hadn't written down the appointment, and came out the very next day to give an estimate. He seemed knowledgeable and gave a reasonable price, so I decided to hire him. His crew arranged to come when I would be home to clearly explain the work to be done, which I appreciated. They removed five trees - four that were encroaching on the house and overgrown, and one in the far back corner of my yard that was diseased that I hadn't noticed until Mark pointed it out. They removed dead wood from several birch trees and trimmed them away from the house. They advised not trimming the maple, in order to keep it symmetric, which was a good point. So I headed out, and when I returned that evening all work except stump grinding had been completed as I requested. The deck needed a little sweeping, but overall the crew cleaned up fairly well. |Two days later, the stump grinding crew came while I was out. That afternoon, I noticed that the phone and Internet stopped working. Later when I used my cell phone to check voice mail I heard a message saying they had accidentally cut a line when grinding the stump. Given the position, it would have been nearly impossible to avoid. Fortunately, my Internet provider was able to fix it free of charge. |Overall, I am pleased with the results.
