Description of Work: We asked them to come out and assess our home for sinking/settling issues. They were very prompt, professional, came out at no charge, and it ended up our settling was normal. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and offered detailed explanations and information. If we did have issues in the future I would definitely use them.

Description of Work: Their representative, Lee, examined our foundation situation and recommended solutions that we could do ourselves (and did). He was very honest, telling us that he could not in good conscience recommend a something that would be equal to what he recommended but at a very high price, unlike the competitor that recommended something that, in the end, would have cost us $30,000. | |I recommend Robbins and will definitely call Robbins again, if needed.

Description of Work: I referred Robbins and Company to a client for a foundation inspection. This was done in a timely manner and delivered quickly, as is important for my clients. The inspection report and the work effort identified was clear, cost effective and extremely helpful. My client will be having the work done by Robbins & Co in 2013 and are thrilled with their professionalism and knowledge of the issues involved.

Had someone come and do an estimate for slab jacking (aka mud jacking) of some areas, including the front porch sunken slab, the carport area, and some sunken parts of the driveway. I then scheduled a time for the job to be completed. When the two men arrived on the scheduled day, one man said he didn't know why the person who did the estimate said that some of the areas could be slab jacked, and added, and quot;we will try our bestand quot; while they seemed doubtful that the areas could be slab jacked. The work began and four hours later, only one or two areas were marginally improved. Wish that I knew that the carport slab couldn't be jacked as well as the front porch slab, and other areas. They tried to do it, but nothing seemed to rise with the slab jacking. A lot of money for no results. Be careful about the exaggerated outcomes with slab jacking, as it clearly didn't work in my situation. I did a lot of research, I thought, and the home inspector recommended this, so I thought this would be the cheapest and most effective way of fixing some trip hazards in the driveway. UPDATE: Don't know how to make this clearer. Clarification: The two men worked hard and I paid for their work and the materials. The problem is that the initial assessment of what could be done was inaccurate, as confirmed by the two men when they arrived, and by the final outcome. My review accurately reflects my disappointment with the results, not the work the two men did. (Thomas Gold, Household Member)

Response from Robbins & Co
I am not aware of a customer by this name - so it is hard for me to comment on what actually happened with this job. We never recieved any complaints from this person so it is hard to determine what his actual problem is with the comments he has made. Although we try our hardest to ensure a happy customer and pride ourselves with this it is hard to make someone happy that we have not been given a chance to do so. I would love for this member to give us a call to discuss what his issues truely are or were.

1) We were hoping for about two inches of lift on our foundation, but were only able to achieve less than one. We do not feel that it was their fault though, as our home has a very deep and heavy foundation which is connected to our garage floor and driveway. Eight piers were sunk at least thirty feet down to bedrock, so now that corner is secure and can no longer sag. We also installed all new drainage pipes and downspouts to make sure that ground or surface water didn't undermine our foundation in the future. Doing one without the other would have only addressed half the problem. 2) The patio slab lift went very well with the uneven pavement and the crack being completely leveled. It was a very bad tripping hazard with about a two inch difference between the two slabs. This also had the result of lifting our sagging deck corner at the same time. We did not have to disassemble the deck in order to lift the patio, as other companies had proposed. 3) The stair leveling didn't work very well because of they way the stairs were constructed. The workers were very careful and noticed that while attempting to level the stairs they were actually pushing into the house, so they had to stop before they got complete results. They didn't charge us for this. We renegotiated the final billing amount with the owner, as we didn't get quite the result we were hoping for in lifting the corner of our house or the stairs. The owner came out to see the job, had a very productive conversation with us, and we feel that we got a fair deal. We received a "Certificate of Lifetime Warranty" in the mail. Also, we received a letter stating a "record of depths and pressures for the eight "Grip-Tite" piers installed on our foundation. This included a drawing of where the piers are located, These arrived promptly after we paid our bill in full. Even though our home had some "stubborn" concrete, we feel that the end result was good and they way Robbins and Co. dealt with us was very professional and fair. Also, we don't have to worry about our house sagging in the future or people tripping over a big crack on our patio.
Description of Work: 1) Robbins & Company attempted to lift one corner of our home's foundation which sank as a result of ground water. They installed eight "Grip-Tite" piers. 2) They also "slab-jacked" a very uneven patio under our deck. 3) They tried to lift concrete stairs along side our the house.

He gave me an estimate and he told me we needed the house completely lifted up, with a new foundation put in. He gave me a bid for $40,000 and said there was no guarantee of the price, that it could be more. We tried to sell the house as-is and realized it wouldn't sell. I got some more bids and another contractor said we didn't actually need a new foundation. They should be given a bad rating for that; it was highway robber. It may have been because they thought I wouldn't know better, because I'm a woman.

Their part went without a hitch. They began early in the morning and obviously we couldn't live in the house while this was going on and we tried to be there but we missed it. They did an excellent job and came well recommended. The price was pretty reasonable for what they did.
Description of Work: They picked up the house after they broke it loose from the foundation with a computerized machine, and moved it over a hole that had been dug for the new foundation. Then the foundation was built underneath by somebody else. Once the foundation was ready they lowered the house back down.

Robbins and Company were very responsive, from the initial bid through completion of the work. I met with 7 companies total before selecting Robbins and Company. They weren't the cheapest, but they weren't the most expensive either. They were very knowledgeable and professional. Start to finish they had my project completed within 4 days, and kept me informed throughout the process. I am very happy with the results (level floors and a foundation that isn t sinking).
Description of Work: Excavated around my foundation and installed 17 push piles. They then lifted and leveled my settling foundation, as well as reinforced the center beam under the house. They patched cracks in the foundation, and then backfilled and cleaned up the site.

Project went fine. Took two guys about six hours plus travel time to jack the floor to as close to level as possible and install the piers. The issue was pricing. I was told it would probably take at least one full day, maybe two days by at least two guys to do the job. I felt $3750 plus tax was way more than was needed for two guys and 5 hours of work with a large hydraulic jack and a few wood posts and concrete piers to add to the foundation. However, it was not nearly as grossly overestimated as a second project reported by me on this company, hence I rated the project a "C" overall.
Description of Work: Robbins and Company was contacted to perform floor leveling on an early 1900's house by jacking the floor joists in a couple spots and installing a few new piers under one of two main floor joists running along one-third of the length of the house.
