Robbie came to my house, took pictures, and left without providing an estimate. I was confused so I called him and asked him to explain the condition of the cracks on the wall and provide an estimate for repairs. His response was, "I am just a general contractor and looking for work. That crack I cannot help you with, call a structural engineer." This is followed by another phone call and an email requesting for clarification on his on-site visit, and no timely response was received. So unprofessional! What a waste of my time and their website is misleading. Robbins & Co. is NOT a foundation specialist NOR a structural engineer company. I called a structural engineer and he confirmed with me that Robbins & Co. is not a legit foundation/structural company. Stay away from this business. Poor customer service and a waste of your time.

Response from Robbins & Co
Mr. [Member Name Removed], I apologize that you did not receive the services that you requested. Robbins and Co has made it a point to provide the best customer experience possible since 1952. Your review helps us understand where we can do better. We do provide foundation repair if we see a need or problem with your foundation. If there are structural problems we would defer the review to a licensed structural engineer. We would also recommend that a customer retain the services of a structural engineer independently from your contractor. This would assure that the engineer is working for you and not the contractor. In some City’s such as Seattle, this is a requirement. With your foundation, we did see minor cracks due to age and may not necessarily need our services. If you would feel more comfortable with a second review, An independent structural engineer would be advise. If the structural engineer determines that foundation repair is necessary, we do have the experience of 68 years of foundation repair available to you if needed. Sorry again for your negative experience.

If I could give this company a negative star rating, I would. This is by far the worst company I’ve ever dealt with, of any type, in my entire life. I had a settling garage and in November 2019 I contacted Robbins to see if they could fix it . After looking at the project, they told me that they could not consider proceeding or giving me an estimate without my obtaining an engineers report. They referred me to an engineer who prepared a report (for $4000) and then provided a copy to me and to Robbins. In January 2020, I contacted Robbins to see if they could give me an estimate based on the report. They said they would get back to me. At minimum, over the next six months, I had at least 10 communications with Robbins (not an exaggeration), either over the telephone or in writing trying to determine the status of my project. During that time, when I contacted them, they either didn’t respond to my communication or told me that they were still “working on it.“ Finally, frustrated after six months, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I explained the situation, he apologized profusely, and told me that he would look into the situation, and get back to me the next day. A week went by and I heard nothing back from the supervisor, as promised. So, I ended up calling the supervisor and asked him what he found out. He told me that based upon the engineering proposal, “this was not a project that they would do.“ I asked him why, if he had the engineering plans for six months, I wasn’t advised sooner that they weren’t going to proceed on the project. He simply said that he thought it had been communicated to me. So, eight months after contacting this company, I have incurred over $4000 in engineering fees and have to start searching for a foundation repair company all over, after wasting my time with Robbins. Obviously, from other reviews, other people have had different experiences with this company. For me personally, I have never been treated so poorly with customer service or had such a horrible experience.

They contacted me the next day to schedule an appointment. Randy came out to my house on time and took a look at my foundation. He informed me that it appeared to be minor and that nothing further needed to be done. Though I had prepared for the worst, his judgment provided sound assurance. He also went around the rest of the house to make sure that there were no other issues. I asked him a few other questions regarding drainage and he provided some good tips and comments. Though I didn't end up hiring out any service, the interaction was professional and honest.

The Robbins and Co. team just finished correcting and stabilizing our foundation. They installed four Foundation Push Piers. We could not be happier. The entire team were knowledgeable, flexible, and easy to work with. That included the office staff, especially Charlene, Lee who created the proposal and clearly communicated expectations, and of course Miguel and Sergio who installed the system and shared their knowledge. Afterwards they cleaned up everything and replanted the plants that had been removed. I could tell why Robbins and Co. have been in business for so long. They have staff with quality characteristic who know what they are doing and do it right. We feel very confident in recommending them.

I contacted several foundation companies, but Robbins and Co was the only one who not only knew what they were talking about, they cared about me. (Their pricing was about the same as the others, too.) Doug was my foundation consultant and after the initial review, I was worried I had missed something and he offered to check it out on his day off. He spent an hour going through the whole house and easing my fears. (This is my first home.) Doug came back a third time a month later, when some new hairline cracks appeared on the foundation while I was waiting for permits and engineering. Overall, I would've been a lot more stressed than I was if not for Doug's dedication and patience. He really made a difference. The office staff took care of the permits and engineering. As for the two days doing the actual work, they worked hard, cleaned up, and got the corner of my house level again! They also slabjacked one half of the garage (for the corner that had been raised). All in all I was very pleased with Robbins and Co. While I hope I never have to use them again (their work comes with a lifetime warranty), if you need foundation work, I highly recommend them.

We have a large Dutch Colonial in North Tacoma that looks like a barn and is over 100 years old. The porch was enclosed in the 1930's to enlarge the living room. The old brick foundation in the front had slowly settled over time resulting in sloped floors, not the safest foundation in the event of an earthquake. Lee Mattingly from Robbins came to our house and got into our crawl space. Lee was very thorough inspecting the space inside and out. Because our situation was somewhat unusual, Lee encouraged us to get a 3rd party engineering report. We opted to stay with the engineers at Robbins. Lee came back to us with 3 options in different price ranges from $9000 for beams to $100K for a new foundation that would have added square footage to our basement. He explained every option thoroughly. We opted for helical piers because of their added safety in the event of an earthquake. Jorge and his team showed up on time the scheduled day to work. They were super professional and very kind. They were also incredibly neat. The work was done in a week, then the concrete cured and they came out 1 more day to finish installing the piers. The space was left cleaner than how they found it! (seriously - the swept up in the basement and the crawl space looked much cleaner) NOTE: I thought we'd have to move things out of our living room while they did the foundation. But...no, you don't have to move anything when they do this kind of work. Now we have a much safer home and the floors, while not perfectly even, are much better! We had an excellent experience. I recommend Robbins highly and Lee Mattingly especially. He is good at explaining things, patient with questions and answered my calls & messages very quickly.

Lee showed up to provide an estimate right on time. He let us follow him around while he explained the measurements he was taking. We had 2 other contractors provide estimates with some very different opinions on what the issue was so we really wanted to make sure we understood what was going on. Lee was fabulous, he explained everything, was very thorough and professional and most importantly the explanation of what was wrong and what needed to be done made sense based on the measurements and what we knew about the issues we were seeing in the house. He didn't try and sell us more work than we needed and he really listened to all of our concerns. Lee even made a follow up call a couple of days later to answer any additional questions we had. Once we made our decision they were able to schedule a crew as early as the next day. The crew showed up right on time, introduced themselves and got strait to work. Again they were courteous, thorough and professional. They explained everything and took about a million measurement with their level to make sure everything was just right. I would highly recommend Robbins & Co.
Description of Work: Piers had sunk, causing the floor to sag up to an inch. Caused creaking floors, gaps under baseboards, sticking doors and hairline cracks in walls. They replaced all posts & piers under the house added a couple extra & added extra beams. They leveled the floors and made sure that none of the tile & grout cracked in my remodeled master bath.

I requested a quote to have my patio repaired. After taking my contact info, the woman on the phone informed me that they couldn't schedule quotes later than 3pm. I told her I work 9-5, but that I could arrange to leave work early and be home as early as 4pm. Since I only live a couple miles from their headquarters, I was surprised to hear her answer was still "no". I asked about Saturday quotes, she said they don't do Saturday. I told her our bacyard patio is behind a locked security gate, so I need to be home to let them in. Not knowing what else to say, I paused and said, "okay, I guess I'll call someone else, thanks anyway". She simply replied, "OK". I was disappointed to see how inflexible they were BEFORE they got my business. I will not be trying them again.

Response from Robbins & Co
Ms. [Member Name Removed], Good morning - I do apologize for your response that you got when you called in. We are training a new person right now so your feed back is much appreciated. We do Saturday appointments and are booked out a few weeks for those, however that is not the response that you received and I do apologize for this. It may have been a misunderstanding as the person that generally does our slabjacking quotes does not work on weekends, however I do have someone that would have. We will work with our office staff on how to handle a situation such as this so that this will not happen again. I again apologize for any misunderstanding or misinformation that you did receive. I hope that you may contact us again or if you like send me your information and I can contact you directly. Thank You Robbins and Co

They did a fantastic job. WOW. My house was built in 1980 and has a concrete slab for the first floor rather then wood construction. The slab itself has slowly been sinking to varying degrees since it was built in 1980, the foundation is not the problem and has remained in its original position. The problem I believe is that the builder did not compact the soil inside of the foundation adequately prior to pouring the slab. About 3/4 of the slab on the 1st floor had sunk, creating a slope anywhere from 4-8 inches depending on the room of the house. Robbins was able to raise the slab back to its original height. The floors are level for the first time since I bought it in 1985. They did a series of drillings in the living room, kitchen, bath, laundry and garage. All of these rooms had noticeable sinking. Robbins was able to fill the voids under the concrete and literally lift the floor back to its original height. Watching the process was amazing. Robbins team worked fast and efficiently through the process. Additionally, there was a slab that had cracked and broke into 3 pieces on the porch and walkway attached to the front of the house. The porch/walkway had been done on one concrete pour originally. At the corner of the porch is where the breaks were. Robbins installed 2 pins to raise the corner up about 8 inches. This had to be done because the slab on that part of the porch was above the grade of the soil, so there hadn't been adequate support there from original construction. The remainder of the porch had sunk similar like the inside of the home and was able to be slabjacked. The porch now is level. Doing this has also corrected the roofline of the porch itself and has increased the street appeal. Now when looking at the home you don't see broken down old home with a broken porch, you actually notice the house. Robbins and Co., along with their team of workers did a fantastic job.

Lee arrived right when he was supposed to and did a very thorough review inside and out of our slanting floor situation and determined the south side of our house is 2" lower than the north side. He gave me a clear understanding on the level of severity and urgency of the problem, and laid out several different options on how to address it. He explained how Robbins & Co. is different from other companies and told me about their warranty. He respected the fact that I don't know anything about this industry and spoke to me in terms I could understand, without insulting my intelligence. He gave me a good ballpark figure of what I was looking at for each of the options he described and then followed up with a written estimate as well. The written estimate took a little longer to get to me than he said it would take, so that's why I marked a B on responsiveness. Anyway, I feel really confident in their level of work and will definitely be choosing them when we are ready to have the work completed.
Description of Work: I asked for an assessment of our foundation on our 98 year old house. We want to have some remodeling done in our bathroom and kitchen, but the floors are slanted. Wanted advice about if we need to have that fixed before laying new floors, etc, and how bad and/or urgent our problem was.

Lee came out and gave an estimate in order to do the required work. I received bids from RamJack NW and Matvey Construction, as well. While the competition's prices were slightly cheaper, Robbins and Co came down in price in order to become competitive; however, the main deciding factor were the great reviews they had from both Angie's List and I spoke with several geotechnical engineers. One of the two competitors uses in house engineering, which I would highly advise against, and the other seemingly had a comparable product and prices, but then it came down to the reviews and recommendations I received. Robbins and Co came out and did the work as planned, on time, exactly at their bid, and all of the expectations that they communicated throughout the process were accurate. I am always a little concerned about using contractors, but these guys acted professionally throughout and at no time did they say anything that was inaccurate. The end result was better than I expected and I would absolutely recommend Robbins and Co.

Overall great experience. Started off with an estimate that was open and transparent. They took care of submitting the paper work and engineering with the city. At the installation they took great care to make sure that there was no internal damage to the house as they installed the piers. Very fast, they were able to get 7 piers installed in a day and a half. Everything was done as described in the prelim work. Highly recommended.

They came out on Friday morning and got started. My husband was home and was very impressed with their work. It turned out to be a bit more than they had anticipated (the patio ended up being thick) and they had to come back on Tuesday morning to finish putting the brackets on and raise the patio back up to it's original height. They left caution tape around the holes to make sure no one would fall or get hurt until they could return. After lifting the patio, they caulked the crack that had fallen. Many of the smaller cracks got pushed tightly together when the patio was raised back to it's original position. They cleaned everything up after they finished and swept off the patio for us. It looks great and we feel relieved to know that it's stable and we don't have to worry about the roof sagging and pulling apart, the patio cracking further, or the water in the gutters running the wrong way. We are very happy with the results, the work crew, the estimator, the office staff etc. Everyone was very professional. The bill was exactly what the original estimate quoted. ,
Description of Work: We have a covered back patio and the roof is attached to the main roof over the house. It was too heavy for the concrete patio and was sinking down. One corner had cracked and fallen, and the main patio was developing several cracks. I called slab-jacking companies first, as I thought they would be able to lift it up, however they were not able to help me. Robbins & Co came out as scheduled, and waited for me to arrive before coming into my yard. I appreciated this courtesy as another estimator arrived very early and just went into my backyard. He gave us an accurate estimate and was very confident that he could solve our problem with Pin Piles with brackets.
