Melvin - owner, estimator, worker - was fantastic, friendly, professional, on time, low key - not pushy with his bid. Really liked the end product; very neat and clean for set up, work and break down.

They gave me the estimate and they were really honest about things, they didn't try to sell me more than I needed. I have had estimates for different companies, but their recommendation for the work needed to be done was much more involved. This company was very honest. They said: "This is the minimum you need and this is all you need. You don't anything more than that.". So, they didn't try to sell me more than I needed. The other positive thing that happened was towards the end there is something else discovered with the drainage and irrigation around my house that was not initially included in the estimate, they actually went out and did additional work that they did not include in the estimate for free. So, they didn't bump up my cost. They installed one additional drainage pipe in an area that they didn't anticipate and they did that free of cost because they missed that initially when they came out to inspect the site. So, I like them a lot. They took care of everything.

Mel and his crew were great! They arrived on time and immediately set about their business. First they covered our floor with protective paper and taped it down so it would stay in place. Then they suited up and went to work! They were very friendly, polite and professional. They kept me informed along the way and, when they were finished, they cleaned up after themselves -- you'd never have known they were here and carting a dirty sump pump and container, old insulation, and old cardboard boxes ruined in a previous flood of the crawlspace up and out of the house. I would definitely recommend them to friends and neighbors. I hope to have them completely seal our crawlspace in the future.

When our neighbor (with the exact same house and floor plan) discovered water in the crawl space we decided to have ours checked out as well. A Better Crawl responded quickly (the other company we called never did call back). They showed up right on time and did a check of our crawl space. With the house next door having problems, they could easily have stated we had similar issues and billed us for unneeded repairs, instead they reports our crawl space was fine. Per our neighbors request, we asked if they would be able to do a quick check of their home, even though they had not been scheduled. Not only were the problems in our neighbor's crawl space confirmed, but A Better Crawl impressed them so much the neighbors asked for a repair estimate (even though they already had five other estimates in hand). A day later A Better Crawl contacted us and thanks us for the referral. We will definitely used this company in the future as we plan on having our crawl space examined again in a year or so.

Co-owner Melvin Baird came out to the house, completed a survey, answered my questions, provided recommendations and gave me a preliminary estimate of costs. He promptly followed up with a written proposal. I followed up with the other co-owner Shanna Baird on a number of focused questions over the next week. Answers were always prompt and complete. Once expectations and pricing were set, I scheduled the work. Melvin and his helper were on time and went right to work. Work was completed on time. Aside from exceeding my expectations, there were no surprises. Their effort and attention to detail was truly outstanding. Had I not been present during the 2 plus days during the work, I would not have known they were ever there. There work was completely compartmentalized and their cleanup was exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending them for your crawl space work. This is honestly the first time I have been able to write this kind of recommendations of any work I have had completed for the past 30+ years.

Called them to come out for a bid along with 2 other companies. I called to set up a time with them and they didn't show up. I called them up and they apologized and said they could come out the next day. They showed up the next morning on time and handed me a gift certificate for $50. He gave us the estimate and they did the work in the time they promised. My husband is very picky and he is extremely thrilled with the work. We had a a huge storm a week after the work was done and there was no leak and I was really surprised. The quality is excellent and the price is fair. I highly recommend them.

I highly recommend this company. They were prompt,knowledgeable,professional and friendly. Melvin explained the process to us before starting. From office staff to work force on hand, they answered any and all questions Melvin was on site to oversee and work. He promptly returned calls. He kept us updated on what they were doing, progress being made and when the job would be completed. They worked on the job every day until it was completed.Very clean and tidy. They took extra precaution so that debris did not enter into our vent system, and disposed of the debris in enclosed bags before bringing them out of crawl space.. ( The electrician who did the hook up said that he had never worked in such a clean crawl space as ours. He was WOWED.) Overall, they were just great people to do work at your home.! Wish that all contractors were like them.!! We even received an Energy Savings Rebate and Angies LIst discount! They also gave us a Warranty.

Melvin from A Better Crawl cleaned my dryer vent because I was told by the dryer repairman who was just out that if I didn't clean it my next dryer would have the same lint build up that killed the current dryer, and I may have a fire. I was always vigilant about cleaning my 30' dryer vent because I have had this problem before, but Melvin clean my vent so much better than any other provider has ever done, I am confident I won't have a lint build up now. Other providers I would hire would hook up a vacuum to the outside vent, run the dryer and vacuum out the vent. They would stop there and give me a $125 bill. Melvin hooked up a vacuum on the outside vent and proceeded to alternately force air through the vent from the dryer end. When he didn't see the proper air flow, he went under my house to investigate the problem. I have a downward slant to the vent and then a turn, so alot of the lint was accumulating there. He then took apart my vent under my house a section at a time, roto-rootered it out, vacuumed it, and then put it back together. He spent over 2 hours here to make sure he completely clean my dryer vent and I had no fire hazard. I was willing to pay him much more, but he stuck to the original quote of between $75 and $125 and said he had seen much worse. Thank you, Melvin!! You are now on my yearly maintenance calendar and I will always call you when I need the vent cleaned.

It's kind of a mom and pop business but they do great work. I was sticker shocked when I got the estimate but glad I took a chill pill and accepted the bid. They definitely exceeded my expectations as far as the finished job quality. The work crew showed up exactly when scheduled and completed ahead of time. I'm VERY glad I went with the full encapsulation because when the movers showed up with my stuff two weeks later we had to put a bunch of overflow boxes out in the crawl space. I've had about 3 or 4 other contractors complement the job unprompted, so you know its good when the pros think its good.

A Better Crawl encapsulated the crawl space in my home that had been excavated but left open. They were very good and found a leak in my plumbing. I liked that they listened to me and hauled away all the trash with no cost. They had a good attitude. They were careful to keep everything clean.

Crawl space was compromised by rats. Insulation and vapor barrier were in pieces. The three man crew took five days to completely encapsulate the crawl space. They removed all old insulation, vapor barrier and any debris that was there. They leveled the ground and vacuumed underneath the sub floor, along the foundation ledges and generally cleaned everything. They inspected for any structural problems or infestations of insects, water damage, moisture problems with mold, mildew. They sealed any possible entrances into the crawl space they could find. They then covered the entire crawl space with a reinforced solid heavy gauge meshed plastic liner. This is sealed to the walls and floor and all post piers. They installed varmint proof vent covers and an entrance door. The crawl space is now completely sealed. No moisture in or out. It is dry and critter free. The owner and crew came to work on time, at the same time everyday. They were very professional and courteous. They respected the shrubs and plants around the work entrance area, so there was minimal impact. They took a short lunch break and then continued working. Though the cost was a little more than just replacing the old insulation and vapor barrier, I feel confident that I wont ever have the problem that I had before. With the 25 year warranty, I feel good about "Encapsulation", rather than reinstalling insulation. Either way, I would recommend "A Better Crawl, Inc" for any crawl space work.
