Previous attempts by two plumbing companies had not resolved the actual problem. I called Friday morning and by 4 pm Dave was at my home to fix the problem. The office scheduler had indicated they would probably not be able to make it out that day but Dave came by at the end of his day (which started at 7 am) to help me out. He noticed at once that the igniter was sparking at the wire outside the furnace instead of inside the igniter chamber. The fix was simply un-pinching the spark wire and wrapping it with electrical tape.

Great! I had a 9-11 window, David arrived shortly after 9. He started with the gas fireplace, which came with the house. We had never had it tuned before. He took the thing completely apart, cleaned it meticulously, tested everything. I learned we'd never plugged in the fan, which will make it work ever more efficiently. The furnace was already pretty clean, so that didn't take him as long. Knowledgeable, nice guy and very meticulous about his work. The cost was $99 + tax for each item.

I received a confirmation call the day before my appointment, and another call when Bryan was about fifteen minutes from my house. He arrived promptly, and was courteous and professional from the get-go. I recently moved into this house and so had a lot of questions about the fireplace and furnace. Not only did Bryan answer my questions, but he explained his answers to me (instead of just "yes" he'd say "yes and here is why"). He also took the time to show me how to operate the fireplace, and again was thoughtful without being patronizing in his explanations. I purchased a home in which the gas fireplace was not working, the pilot switch had been broken off. I was concerned I would have to replace the entire unit which is costly. Dwight disassembled and cleaned out the fireplace and explained what was broken and how it could be remedied. The pilot switch wasn't able to be replaced, but the pilot light is now working and we have a working gas fireplace which we love.

They were easy to work with and worked with me to make adjustments as needed for schedule conflicts. The technician was knowledgeable and helped me learn how to start, set, and clean the gas fireplace. He did a thorough job cleaning it and left the room clean afterwards. All in all a nice company to do business with. I can't truly rate the cost because I have nothing to compare it with. They were recommended by another company and I didn't call anyone else for estimates. At any rate the price felt reasonable and the company was very pleasant to do business with so I would recommend them.

Very thorough job cleaning our furnace and explained what was done in simple to understand terms. The tech, Kerry, was professional and patient in answering all of my questions. They were out of the replacement filter, but Kerry took time to search for it on the web on his phone and shared the link with me and he found one very reasonably priced. Also we are in the process of shopping for a new home and I showed the tech a picture of the heating unit of one properties we are considering and he provided a wealth of valuable information for us to consider. Went very well. Installers were very helpful, and showed me how to maintain use and maintain it. Had a little glitch on the final bill and I had to pay a little more than originally anticipated, but it was all legitimate. Sundance did apply for the PSE Instant Rebate on my behalf which reduced the price before I paid, that part was nice.
Description of Work: Installed a new Mitsubishi ductless heat pump, which by the way also provides cooling.

They were professional and courteous. Although the technician was running late, he called to let us know and made sure the new time worked. He solved the noisy fan problem quickly and serviced both gas fireplaces for us. The glass is so clean it looks invisible. We will use them again in the future.

My gas fireplace did not work, it would not ignite and the fan did not work. I thought I was going to have to replace it and was not looking forward to the cost, it is an older Napoleon model. I called Sundance and they explained that a technician could come out and it would be $100 for the visit, however that $100 would go towards repair or a new fireplace. Sundance was very responsive and set up a technician appointment timely, they called before the appointment to confirm. The technician, Dave, showed up on time and diagnosed the issues and did the repair. My fireplace now ignites correctly, the fan works and is much quieter than before it broke. He also rearranged the logs and ember for a better flow, vacuumed and cleaned the glass. Dave was very professional, wore protective shoe coverings and cleaned up everything when done.

For the first 7 years when the provider maintained our old furnace, I (a female) and not my husband, was the main point of contact. Every year, they would tell me that we needed a new furnace because ours was old. This year, when my husband was home for the first time during the maintenance, they told him.....you guessed it.....that our furnace had at least a few more years of life in it and was in great shape. Why would they tell the female one thing for 7 years, and the male something totally opposite? We decided to replace our furnace early because we wanted central air/air conditioning, and our old furnace would not work with the a/c setup. The sales rep kept really, really pushing us towards buying a ductless system. We decided for many logistical and resale reasons that we did not want one - a) there was only one place in the entire house that they could mount it on the wall, b) we didn't want to have to keep all of our bedroom and extra room doors open in order to have a/c in those rooms, c) We didn't want a separate thermostat for the ductless system, d) it wouldn't integrate with our existing furnace and home automation system, and e) would require a separate app and thermostat, which would be an extra $400.00 - and would be redundant to the system we are already paying for and use. Despite all of that, he still kept pushing the ductless system until I put my foot down. The sales rep then came out, took measurements, and looked at our existing thermostat. We specifically discussed that we wanted to keep our existing thermostat because it is part of our home automation system. When the time came for installation, the install took about half a day longer than we were told, which required that we reschedule some appointments at the last minute, and the unit stuck out farther than we were told also, obstructing us being able to open a door all the way. Then, at the very end, the crew installed a totally different thermostat instead of using the one we had. They said they had to do it because there was a "?" on the estimate where it said "Thermostat". In fact, had we not specifically asked about it and checked to make sure it worked with our existing system before they left, they were just going to give us a different thermostat and leave and not even say anything. Nice. When I phoned the sales rep to rectify this, he tried to push us to use their thermostat that would not integrate into our existing system as discussed. I reiterated, for the 10th time, that I did not want a separate system or their app. I do not WANT separate apps when I already have ONE app that does the same thing. They sent the installers out a few days later to hook up our old thermostat. They were visibly unhappy about having to come back out, and the lead installer was quite condescending to me, implying that I didn't know how to look up something on the internet via my phone. They proceeded to leave my front door wide open without asking, and we have 4 pets that are not allowed outside. They left screws and debris on our garage floor, two of which punctured my car tire. They cut a hole in our ceiling drywall and left it for us to repair. They also left behind a case of electrical supplies, and then phoned me to leave it outside for them to pick up. I left it outside for 5 days and called them twice, and nobody ever showed to pick it up. The a/c works great. We recently, 6 weeks after installation, turned the heat/furnace on for the first time. On a Saturday. It didn't work. >.< They had a tech come out, and he quickly discovered that the original installation team never turned on the gas to the furnace. Poor listening skills, sloppy and immature installation, and shockingly, absolutely no technical knowledge of the two largest home automation systems in the country that sync with HVAC systems these days. Not to mention obvious scare tactics when trying to market to women vs. men.

All of our service techs, prior to the last one, warned the owners of a potential failure of the furnace. It was very old and we had repaired it before these owners acquired the home. All were senior techs who were aware of the failure issues of that brand which have to do with internal parts, not visible, that had failed and were potential carbon monoxide leak issues. Our last tech was trained fully in the servicing of the furnace, however, he was young and did not know the history of that brand and its many failures. He may have said the furnace "looks" fine but was unaware of the forced draft pressure and heat exchanger failures we have seen over the years. This had nothing to do with female/male issues. The sales rep that was sent out for the air conditioning is required to tell home owners of all their choices. Many homes do not have effective cooling when equipment is added to a system designed for heating. This has to do with what level of the home that the furnace pulls its air from. Low return for the best heating and high return for the best cooling. They only had a low return air. A ductless system is the most advanced, most energy efficient, and pulls air (heat) out from the ceiling level of the upper floor, being the most effective. The customer was given three quotes. One for ductless and leaving their furnace alone. One for a heat pump and new furnace combination. And one for a air conditioner with new furnace. No pressure to decide, only what we see as the least cost, and most effective being recommended. In reviewing a survey card the customer sent back the rating was a little below average. Comments were made on poor communications regarding the thermostat. The customer wanted to keep their old thermostat. Upon starting up the new air conditioner, our technician discovered that the existing one did not have enough individual wires to control everything at the thermostat. A new thermostat was then installed so that the A/C could be used immediately. This was during an extremely hot weather period and we thought it was the right thing to do. Later we learned of the home automation not being compatible. These wifi systems are all fairly new and continually being upgraded. In order to keep the customer happy, and allowing them to use their existing thermostat, it had to be rewired. We accommodated the owner by scheduling our electrician, after hours, when they were home from work. We are sorry if we left screws that punctured a tire. We had never been told about this, and will be happy to pay for the tire repair. Finally, our technicians apparently left the gas valve closed. Once we were notified we returned promptly to turn the valve back on.

Showed up on time (5 minutes early)! Got right to work on the fireplace - put protective cloth down on the carpet first. Vacuumed out everything inside and under the fireplace, replaced the embers, cleaned the glass - spotless! Then went to the furnace and performed the service and vacuumed and cleaned everything out of there! Replaced the filter. Will definitely call them again!

The "lead" repairman (Dwight) provided our initial "diagnostic" service. He determined that there was a faulty switch. A deposit was paid to order the part, and we were were charged $100 for the so-called "free diagnostic". He refused to acknowledge that when you advertise something as being free that means there is no charge. In any case, a different repairman came to install the switch, which did not solve the problem. He informed us that there was something else wrong with the fireplace. We could pay for another service call and diagnostic charge to (hopefully) find out what is actually wrong, or just replace the fireplace. He offered to reduce the charge of installing a new fireplace by the amount already paid. I thought this was somewhat fair, and call their office to make arrangements. Somehow Dwight got involved and insisted on coming out to have another look first, but of course there would be another charge for that. I have left 2 messages asking to speak with Dwight before considering having him come out again since he is the "lead installer". No response, the fireplace is still broken, we are out $170 and no closer to having our fireplace repaired or replaced

Easy to work with. We called them up a week or so before the replacement, talked through various options over the phone. We determined that they didn't need to come and do a pre-installation inspection because it was a simple install, but they would have been happy to do so if we had asked. We chose Sundance because they supply Rheem water heaters, which have great customer reviews. Price wasn't cheap, but we got a quality water heater and good installation, so we were okay with it.

I have used them in the past and was very pleased with the prior service that I received. I felt their prices were reasonable, they were responsive, prompt and professional and the repair was completed without any problems. This time however, they were scheduling appointments for 8-10 weeks out and I was not willing to wait that long to have my fireplace repair done. I went with another provider that was able to schedule an appointment in 4 weeks. There seems to be a shortage of skilled fireplace repair people because all of the providers I called at the time had wait times of at least 4 weeks but Sundance's was the longest. I would have used them again had they been able to come out in 4 weeks instead of 8. I felt lucky that I don't depend on my fireplace for heat.

I called the company to have someone come to give us a quote on a heat pump/furnace installation. The man that came out was not at all professional looking and I probably would not have let him in if my husband had not been home. He was really pushing the ductless units for our house but we have the ducts already in so that is what we want. When he left he said he would send us a quote. We still haven't gotten the quote and have decided to go with one of the other companies that came out. They were a lot more knowledgeable and professional.

Overall, we're happy with Sundance's product and capabilities but the reason they didn't get a straight A is their back office. We had to call several times to get an appointment set up and then to find out when the product which had been ordered had arrived and would be installed. Sometimes we'd get someone who had no clue as to what we were calling about and then it would go to someone who was on top of things. Still we had to call again to find out when they were coming out. The installer was good and clearly knew what he was doing but it was a bit frustrating dealing with the office folks. If you can live with having to make a few extra calls, you'll be happy with the product.
