Fabulous. I've had 4 different companies out to service our furnace and this guy was by far the best. The only (tiny) issue was that it took over 2 months to get them here because the company is in such high demand. But, we didn't really need any work done, just a regular maintenance, so for me that is NOT an issue and I will call them next time I need anything.
Description of Work: Inspected, cleaned and serviced gas fireplace insert. Inspected gas log set. Showed me how to access and maintain fireplaces myself. Gave advice on furnace duct problems.

We have always used them. We have been in this residence for about 6 years now. After the first year, we decided to put in a heat pump. We decided to hire them after we spoke to other folks about their work and service record. We have been very happy with them since then.

We received a recommendation for this company from our real estate agent. We had not moved in yet when they were putting the new furnace but to my knowledge, they were respectful of the property. They removed the old furnace and put a new one in and it works wonderfully. The price was mid to high in the range of bids that we got. They were prompt and the whole thing was done by our agreed upon date.

Our 11 year old water heater was not working consistently. They came out and examined it and gave us options for replacing it and what rebates and tax credits were available. We went with gas tank-less water heater. The team that came out and installed it did a great job!!! Cleaned up after themselves and explained how to use it and maintain it before they left.

Great experience where Curtis took time to fully explain what would be done. Curtis is a wealth of practicle knowledge and experience in the area of natural gas fireplaces, equipment and appliances. He also pays attention to the visual impact that a center piece fireplace will have & strives to get it right. A great guy to interact with & and his assistants all were conscientious workers on the project. We enjoy the end result on a daily basis now!
Description of Work: Removal of inefficient decorative natural gas fireplace (all energye goes out the vent) and replacement with a fireplace insert to provide room heating and ambience in main living space. I initially had some problems setting up an appointment for the in-house estimate. When I called I was told that all the salesmen were out of the office and that someone would call me back shortly to setup an appointment. This was on a Friday. Nobody called me back. When I called back the following week I was told there was no record of my call and they were sorry for the inconvenience. My first inclination was to go with someone else, but based on their score on Angie's List and the amount of positive recommendations they had received, I decided to give it another shot. Doug showed up on time the day of the appointment (for the in-house estimate). He was very nice, knowledgeable and professional. He was able to guide me through what kind of fireplace I needed (based on what I was looking for - high heat - style etc) , he measured and suggested modifications to the fireplace enclosure and best practices to ensure the proper insulation of the existing enclosure. The day of the fireplace installation - the installers were on time, they took care to lay down plastic wrap to protect the floor and knew what they were doing - you got the impression that they had done this hundreds of times before. There was some problems with the wiring because I had elevated the fireplace and the old fireplace wiring now obstructed the install. I had called the beginning of the week voicing my concerns about the wiring to ensure that this would not cause a problem the day of the install and had talked to Doug who said no problem. However, the installer said it was a problem and they had to call in an on staff electrician. This didn't cause a delay and it was comforting to know that they had roving trouble shooters, but it showed a lack of communication within the company. The installer and the electrician came up with a great solution and did a great job moving the wire. The install ended up taking all day and is typical - so budget a whole day, even for a straight forward fireplace install. After the install they told me the fireplace needed to run on high for 4 hours to burn in properly. I did this and it seemed to work fine. However the owners manuel (which I read afterwards) said that the fireplace needed to run on low for 2 hours and then on high heat for 2 hours - but there doesn't seem to be any problems and the fireplace works fine. After the install they took the time to show me how the remote worked, how to relight the piloet light, how to clean the glass, which requires a special cleaner, and even gave me a free bottle of the glass cleaner. The install overall went very smoothly, the installers knew what they were doing, they didn't cut corners, and solved all the install problems professionally and competently. I would highly recommend them.
Description of Work: I wanted to upgrade a construction grade gas fireplace that had come with my house - but was poorly insulated and provided little heat to the room. Sundance provided an in house estimate, installation of the gas fireplace, to include a electrical modification, and installation of a flue and a roof vent.

The experience was pretty neat and clean. We did do diligence before deciding on the company we wanted to go with. In the bid process we had narrowed down on the insert we wanted. They came back out and my wife nailed down all the details of how she wanted things to be. They hit the mark. They were here when they were supposed to. They did good work. They cleaned up after themselves. I am honestly thinking about redoing the furnace with them. Their price was fine.

We found Sundance on Angie's List earlier in the year. We were planning a kitchen remodel, additional wood flooring & new fireplace. After some delays due to a death in the family and longer than expected kitchen project we called the sales rep again in August. A comment was made about how long it took us to commit which was uncalled for. When we originally talked we planned to have Sundance install tile and a mantle but in the mean time we decided to have a custom mantle built so ended up only purchasing the fireplace. There was much back and forth discussion with the rep that our mantle and tile were suppose to be in place before the fireplace unit was installed but our mantle designer/installer preferred to work it the other way and we agreed. He finally said OK. The rep gave us a detailed drawing of the 'doghouse' we were to built on our home to accommodate the fireplace. Our framer did exactly as instructed and the installers promptly arrived to put the fireplace in. They were courteous and explained how the new gas fireplace would work so I left them alone to let the professionals to their job. After they left I shined a flashlight in the gap left on each side of the fireplace. There was no insulation to be found. My husband called the rep and he said if it was his fireplace he'd want insulation. He placed blame on the framer then gave my husband instructions on how to take off the fireplace front so we could install it. It wasn't that simple as the whole unit was hooked up to the vent, etc. We finally called the manager and said we expected to have insulation around our fireplace. He said he'd see what he could do. At this point I was VERY glad we hadn't had them install the tile and mantle as we may never have known insulation hadn't been installed. Not one person from the company ever mentioned that we would be responsible for installing insulation. We were surprised the installers didn't at least ask if I had planned to insulate before setting the fireplace. You'd think Sundance Energy Services would be concerned about their customers saving energy. After the first call to the manager I waited several days with no word so I called back. He was working on it. Blah, blah, blah. After almost two weeks and several phone calls I called to explain that I had 3 other contractors involved and I really needed to get this fixed. The manager finally called and said they would have someone out but it would be very difficult to remove the fireplace and there was a chance of breaking something in the process. He commented that they were very busy and said someone else would have to install the insulation as they don't do that. I told him I would do it. Finally and thankfully one of the original installers arrived. He removed the fireplace without problems and helped me with the insulation. I measured, he cut pieces and I installed. He also cut sections of wire for me to use to keep the insulation in place. I greatly appreciated his help and it took all of about 15 minutes to install. He was courteous and friendly the whole time. The fireplace went back together quickly. Soon after he left the manager called as a follow-up which was appreciated. The fireplace is beautiful and is everything we'd hoped for. On the positive side I found the people who answer the phone and the installers friendly and courteous. The product they sell is top notch. My only beef here is the customer service when a problem arose. The true test of a great company is when they deal with a problem quickly, efficiently and with a smile on their face. Aim to please and don't place blame. In this case the sales rep was condescending and placed blame. The manager never did accept any responsibility for his company in failing to provide information early on that would have prevented this. He also took an attitude that this was really putting them out and they were simply too busy to deal with the problem in quick order. Of course they already had our money which might have had something to do with it. The experience just left a sour taste in our mouths. We really expected better service and wish it had been different. I would have liked to grade them much higher but with each passing day without a phone call and the bad attitude the grades kept falling. Had our problem been handled differently we would have given a big thumbs up. Sorry! I can't recommend them. UPDATE:We were grateful they came back but to fix the problem at no extra cost but if you're in a time crunch be firm that they need to address your issue ASAP. We had other contractors waiting and the delay pushed our project back over a month.

We are sorry for our customer's problem. It was because of our concern for them that we came back out and removed the fireplace helped insulate the structure and reinstalled the fireplace. We did this at our expense and never ask for any payment. Insulating the structure was never in our scope of work as we were not contacted to build or sub out the fireplace enclosure. We do accept blame for not making sure our Customer's builder would insulate the framed structure. We do not build structures. We assumed other contractors know the building codes. We feel proud that we helped at no charge but are sorry we weren't able to do the work quicker for them. We are a very seasonal business and this came up at the start of our heating season. We feel the comment about "Once they have your money - beware!" unfair as when it was wrote we had returned and helped fixed their builders mistake at our expense. We did this because our Customer thought it our job to tell the builder to insulated the structure. We should have and everyone would have been happier. We think our Customer should be glad they worked with someone who would return to help after we had been paid in full for completing our work. We found this Customer was very nice and easy to work with.

Within about 5 minutes of arriving he pronounced the transformer as dead. He advised me to get a new furnace and quoted the price at $2800. I told him I would think about it. The next morning I got a call from another HV/AC company I had called, so I had them come out to give me a second opinion. He discovered that the sequencer, not the transformer, was faulty. He replaced it in about 10 minutes and the furnace has been working fine ever since. I called sundance and told them that another company was able to fix the problem without replacing the entire unit and I told them I wanted my money back. Sundance then asked me which company did the work and said they would ask them how they had fixed the problem. They claimed to have called them and said that they now understand how to fix the problem. I told them I still wanted my money back and at the moment they promised to refund the money. They did refund the charge of $107.82 to my credit card.

THE MORNING FOLLOWING THE SUNDANCE SERVICE CALL, THIS CUSTOMER ADVISED SUNDANCE THAT ANOTHER COMPANY DIAGNOSED HIS FURNACE PROBLEM DIFFERENTLY. THEY ALSO ADVISED SUNDANCE THAT REPAIRS TO THE FURNACE HAD BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. SINCE HE ADVISED SUNDANCE THE VERY NEXT MORNING THAT SERVICE HAD BEEN PERFORMED BY ANOTHER CONTRACTOR, NO CREDIT CARD CHARGES WERE MADE TO HIS CREDIT CARD BY SUNDANCE. THE FURNACE UNIT IN QUESTION IS A VERY AGED UNIT, ESTIMATED TO BE NEARING THIRTY YEARS IN SERVICE. IT IS A RARITY FOR A SKILLED SUNDANCE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TO MISDIAGNOSE A FURNACE PROBLEM, EVEN ON SUCH AN AGED UNIT. SUCH AGED FURNACE UNITS ARE SUBSTANTIALLY INEFFICIENT (BY TODAY’S TECHNICAL AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION STANDARDS), AND REPLACEMENT IS GENERALLY RECOMMENDED AS A MEANS OF IMPROVING HOME COMFORT AND REDUCING ENERGY COSTS. OUR RECOMMENDATION TO HIM WAS TO REPLACE THE AGED FURNACE UNIT, IMPROVE HIS COMFORT AND SAVE HIM MONEY IN THE LONG RUN. USING THIS AS A LEARNING EXPERIENCE, HE WAS ASKED TO PROVIDE THE NAME OF THE CONTRACTOR THAT DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND PROVIDED SERVICE TO THE AGED FURNACE UNIT. IN FOLLOW UP, SUNDANCE DID CALL THE OTHER CONTRACTOR TECHNICIAN TO DISCOVER HOW THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR WAS MADE. THIS WAS A GOOD EXCHANGE OF TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION BETWEEN TWO PROFESSIONAL COMPANIES, AND SUNDANCE COMMUNICATED THIS TO THE MEMBER IN A LATER TELEPHONE CONVERSATION. SUNDANCE IS SURPRISED THAT HE HAS SUBMITTED SUCH A NEGATIVE REPORT TO ANGIE’S LIST THREE MONTHS AFTER THE DATE OF A (NO CHARGE) DIAGNOSTIC SERVICE CALL. SUNDANCE HAS BEEN FORTHRIGHT IN OUR DEALINGS WITH HIM. HE WAS NOT HARMED FINANCIALLY OR OTHERWISE, AND RECEIVED SOUND TECHNICAL ADVICE TO CONSIDER REPLACING A SUBSTANTIALLY AGED FURNACE UNIT WITH A MODERN, MORE ENERGY AND COST EFFICIENT FURNACE UNIT. SUNDANCE ENERGY SERVICES, INC., CONTINUES TO BE “A” RATED ON ANGIE’S LIST, OVERALL.

Sent out emails to several water heater companies found on Angie's list. Sundance Energy Services responded by phone the following day. Discussed options, suggested Puget Sound Energy gas "deal," but we have an electric water heater and I was not interested in putting a gas line for a gas water heater. Provided good information, seemed knowledgeable especially about discounts. Was BBB accredited but seemed to favor gas and didn't feel like a good "fit."

Our furnance was short cycling occasionally, upon start up. Called Sundance to schedule maintenance. They made sure the furnace was working, and then scheduled a tune-up 3 weeks later. They said if the furnace was not working they would have schedule repair right of way. Service technician called when he was on his way and arrived at the scheduled time. He inspected the furnace and found a faulty door switch, he disable the switch and cleaned and tuned the furnance. He explained the problem and advised me on how to turn off the furnace when changing filters.

Went smoothly except for the open door.
Description of Work: They installed a heat pump, furnace and air filter. The price they quoted was considerably cheaper than another bid that I got for the exact same work. They scheduled my installation about a month ahead, but were in touch with me and a number of people came to check out some tricky electrical and space considerations. They came on time as scheduled and kept their work areas neat. Only glitch was that one guy accidentally left a sliding door open when he went to lunch and no one was home.

It was easy to schedule an appointment by phone, though the first available was several weeks out (not surprising as I called in early October). The technician, Rob, arrived at the start of the promised time slot (start of day). Very pleasant & efficient. Happily answered all of our questions about the furnace and fireplaces. Spent several minutes helping us try to figure out why a fireplace blower wasn't working. Cleaned and serviced furnace in garage and fireplaces in both living areas, keeping each area clean as he did so. Legibly noted all his actions on the service order form/receipt, making a handy reference for our files. After Rob left, we discovered he'd left a small flashlight behind; based on a comment he made while here, I suspect he does that a lot.

Great company, good customer service from both scheduler/office and Ben, the service guy. Prices seem reasonable, probably comparable to others. Only drawback is they are so good at what they do and therefore popular, it can be hard to get on the schedule. My needs were not urgent, however-I would expect they CAN respond to emergencies if needed (although I don't know that for sure).
Description of Work: I had them out to check out new gas fireplace, which a previous contractor installed (and not quite properly). Luckily Ben fixed things right up, without too much time or hassle. Also checked out/tuned up my furnace, and he washed my permanent metal filter.

We hired Sundance in 2003 to convert our house from oil to gas. They did a great job at a reasonable price. When we remodeled in 2007, I decided to call them again to repair the ducting that had been disturbed and install new ducts and vents. It took several weeks to get a return phone call, and multiple phone calls and site visits to get a quote. The work was scheduled out almost six weeks. When the scheduled date came, half their crew was on vacation. They did not attempt to reschedule until the day the work was due to begin. We could have been flexible with more notice, but late notice on a long-scheduled appointment did not make me happy. This was supposed to be a two day job for a crew of four. It turned into three days for one guy, followed by three days the following week for two guys. The first guy nicked an electrical line and left a gas leak. Sundance was not responsive to my concerns (the electrical line). I'm still furious with the way the salesman handled my concerns. They tried to bump responsibility to someone (anyone) who might have been working in the ceiling, but they were the only crew out since the wires had been run. It was an easy and very cheap fix, but the way I was treated when I mentioned the concern was unacceptable. The crew who actually performed the needed work was very good. The technicians were polite, professional, and did an outstanding job. The quality of their work deserves an A. The quality of the scheduling, the phone staff, and the salesman deserves a D. I averaged the grade to a C.
Description of Work: Sundance technicians installed new ducting and repaired existing ducting for a gas furnace. Part of the project included running new intake and exhaust pipes. They also removed ducting material we had purchased from another source.

When I called in, they answered the phone right away (even on a Saturday), and told me that their tech was busy, but they would page him the details and he would call me back when he could. About an hour or so later he called me and said he was not able to help because he didn't have the equipment needed, but he would call a few other people and find someone for me. The next day (Sunday) they sent out 2 guys to take a look. Within about an hour they were able to pressure test the line and have me call PSE to come reconnect the gas. They were courteous and respectful of the house and I felt like they treated me to a fair price. I would highly recommend them after this experience.
Description of Work: We had a small gas leak in our house, and PSE turned off our gas on a Friday evening, leaving me to find a repair person to come out on the weekend. After calling around to 10+ places and not finding anyone that could do a repair or come out on the weekend, I called Sundance (they were a little out of our area of downtown Seattle, so I initially didn't call them).
