I was actually very happy to find them, because I had been searching all over the place for any other people who provided this service. They were actually pretty expensive when I contacted them but they gave me a different price, so I was relieved. I would definitely hire them again.

Bob Charles is the technician for my home. I am so pleased at their willingness to schedule the same employee to oversee my pest control needs. He knows the layout of my home and any other potential concerns. He is very competent, well trained and friendly. I have used their services for 2 years. Prior to a visit, they will call one week ahead of time to set up an appointment. The cost is based on a yearly expense.
Description of Work: I have a yearly contract for the company to conduct pest control services on a quarterly basis. I have a 5 bedroom and 4 bathroom home. On the most recent visit, they treated the exterior part of my home for ants, spiders and other unwanted pests. During the treatment, he checked to see if there were any open areas that a rodent or pests could enter my home. Luckily, there were no openings.

Actually, Cascade does this for me every 1 1/2 months. I have used them for years. They are a fairly permanent company around here. They have done an excellent job for me. They are very personable and friendly. This visit went fine. They always call me back too if I have any problems. They really take care of my problems.

Looked for the source of the problem, nests, entry and exit points of the nest or nests. Sprayed and put out bait to kill the ants and the source, i.e. the nest.
Description of Work: I called Cascade after reading your reviews of their work. I am so pleased at the care and concern they took to help me eliminate a long-term carpenter ant problem. Bob, the specialist for my neighborhood, answered all my calls promptly and continued to come back out to my home, with no additional fees, until every last ant was eradicated. I have thus far had no recurrence of the problem. After other exterminators could not solve my problem, Cascade did the job.

A few weeks after, our potential buyer's house inspector couldn't believe that we had used a pest control company and we had to fax the real estate agent the receipt of our payment to prove it. Apparently, the technician had missed two moisture ants nests, and the inspector found that the clean up was poorly done (the inspector had found an old trap that hadn't been removed and more debris). The worst was CPC's attitude when I called them. I had sent them the inspector's photos and his report and checked by phone that they had received them. It took 13 days and many phone calls for Al Brown to call me back. Then I had to email photos and and fax the report again because he had lost them. Then he was busy in meetings, needed to consult with his manager etc. We were forced to use another company because we were in the middle of negotiations with the buyers and couldn't wait. After about a month, Al Brown told me it was a case of he said/she said.
Description of Work: After our house got on the market, an inspection revealed evidence of rodent activity in our crawl area. Cascade Pest Control came for a first visit to assess what needed to be done. During the second visit, the technician said he had blocked the access used by the rodents, cleaned the crawl area completely, changed the vapor barrier and released a disinfecting mist.

Rental reported mice. Landlord (me) chose Cascade because they didn't use subcontractors. Two appointments made for Visits #1 and #2 and relayed to Tenant. So far, so good. Debit card charged within 24 hours of #1 visit but paperwork neither left with Tenant nor mailed to Landlord. Waited 10 days and called to get paperwork and verify #2 visit; Cascade had no record of it and said what became a familiar mantra: "The technician was supposed to ..." Visit #2 was re-scheduled; once again debit card was charged immediately but again no paperwork given to Tenant or Landlord. Another phone call. Had planned to use year-round service to prevent recurrence as property is near a river; however, Cascade's disorganized admin and failure to provide documentation of services rendered made this a "no go". Ironically, Technician called after I made this decision to state he wanted to go to property (no charge) to verify his repairs had held; once again, no call or paperwork. Will not use again.
Description of Work: Visit #1: Set traps to eradicate existing rodents + make a work plan to prevent future infestations. Visit #2: Perform work plan. Visit #3: Check work done at Visit #2. Possible ongoing treatment.

I AM THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HANDLED THIS ACCOUNT MYSELF AFTER RECEIVING COMPLAINTS AFTER THE INITIAL 2 VISITS. I TALKED WITH KATHLEEN AND WE AGREED THERE WAS POOR COMMUNICATION WITH THE ORIGINAL TECHNICIAN WHO WENT OUT. SHE AGREED TO LET ME HAVE ONE OF OUR SENIOR TECHNICIANS ATTEND THE ACCOUNT AND IT RAN MUCH SMOOTHER. I COMMUNICATED WITH THE MEMBER VIA EMAIL AND PHONE WITH THE CLIENT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. (I STILL HAVE THE EMAILS TO BACK-UP MY RESPONSE). I FELT WE WERE SENSITIVE TO THE TENANTS NEEDS (THEY WERE DEALING WITH HEALTH ISSUES) AND EVENTUALLY SOLVED THEIR RODENTS ISSUE. THERE WERE CIRCUMSTANCES IN WHICH THE CITY WAS INVOLVED AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE STRESS ON THE STRUCTURE, WITH DEMOLITION AND TALKING WITH THE CLIENT AS TO WHAT THEY COULD DO TO HELP WITH THE PROBLEM. MY IMPRESSION AFTER TALKING WITH THE MEMBER WAS THAT THEY WERE SATISFIED WITH OUR EFFORT TO CONTROL THE RODENT ISSUE. MY UNDERSTANDING WAS THAT WE PARTED ON VERY GOOD TERMS. IN HER LAST EMAIL 8-4-07, HER LAST SENTENCE WAS "THANKS FOR BEING SO GREAT TO WORK WITH, AFTER A SOMEWHAT ROCKY START..."

Had a big bug infestation. Talked to Cascade Pest on the phone, and my description of bugs did not fit any typical pest for the area. "Put some in a plastic bag and bring them in for us to see." I did so and Al Brown quickly identified mystery bug as a "rice weavel", coming from some infested grain or rice somewhere in my house. "Find the source and dispose of it, clean all food areas, wait one month and clean again. If this does not do the trick, then we might need to use the big guns (chemicals)." I found the offending bag of natural grains, long forgotten, and did the disposal and clean up. Bye bye bugs. Free accurate advice, no hard sell. I'll use Cascade if I ever need an exterminator. Total cost was the five mile drive from my house to Cascade.
Description of Work: Helped eradicate a "rice weavel" infestation.

Initial response to my call was quick and they scheduled a visit and arrived on time. Phil gave a thorough evaluation of my house and where he thought they were coming in. He fixed the entry points (by installing screening and cementing up a tunnel) where they created a burrow into my basement so they couldn't come in again. Phil set traps in my attic and basement and then returned to check on them in a few days. No rats were trapped but I'm confident that their entry points are closed off, and that if they're still in my basement and attic they'll be caught by the traps that are still there. Phil was knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and helped me understand how to keep rats out. He gave me a handout on rodent control. I trimmed the trees and shrubs away from my house to help keep rats from accessing my roof. He made the initial visit to assess and make repairs, set traps then came back to check on the traps. For a few hours of work it seemed like a high price, but worth it.
Description of Work: I noticed signs of rats in my basement and attic from their droppings. I wanted the rats to be trapped, removed, and any entry points sealed off so they couldn't come in again.

I am very impressed -- first of all, with their thoroughness and their communication; they are prompt and explain everything that they will be doing during their visit. Today, I had a visit from Phil, who checked for rodent activity and advised me of how to prevent return visits from those pests. Phil set traps, plugged holes and told us of some remedial work that needed to be done with the fascia at the back of the house. I asked Phil if there was an additional cost for this -- the answer was a refreshing ''no''. Very satisfied overall; reassuring to know a professional is handling this problem. My husband thought he could take care of this with a mouse trap and some peanut butter; I was very anxious about this.
Description of Work: I initially had Cascade Pest come out to take care of a rodent problem. We have signed up for annual service and have had almost a year of service from them -- they come out quarterly.

I had previously had Cascade come out in response to a rat problem in my basement; that was temporarily resolved, at great expense, by building a wall in my crawl space. I now learned that the rats chewed through the wall and that a new solution (installing wire mesh) was required. I don't know why they didn't do the mesh, which was much cheaper in the first place. I also feel they charged a lot ($500) for a small amount of work.
Description of Work: I initially had them perform an inspection for rats (which I had heard in my upstairs crawlspace and also in the basement). They set traps and subsequently performed an ''exclusion,'' sealing up gaps in the roof and under the porch.

Member, thank you for taking the time to review our work. Unfortunately our records from that time are not fully detailed so I don't have the ability to see what work was done back in 2006. We've changed a lot since then, of course, and our rodent inspection and treatment solutions have vastly improved. I hope that you'll never have rodents again but if you do, that you'll give us the chance to show you how our expert systems work now.

About six months after our initial work, the rats came back and the only place they could be getting in is thru the roof vents or power lines. When I called back, they told me they won't go onto roofs. I said, "well I still have a rat issue". They responded with, "well I guess we could install a line guard on your power lines". I said I was really at a loss for what to do to keep the rats out. They told me they'd call back, and never did. If Cascade claims to offer "comprehensive" pest control, then they should be willing to do the exclusion work on the roof, or at the VERY LEAST, call me back to decline. I am very disappointed in my experience with Cascade, specifically in regards to communication and follow-through.
Description of Work: Our house had rats coming in. Cascade came twice - once to set traps and plug holes, the second to check the traps and follow up. I paid approx $300.

Member, I'm sorry to read about this experience. Our records from 2006 don't show very many details of this, but I'm glad to report that our customers today have a much, much different experience. In fact, we have an entire division that specializes just in rodents, providing expert rodent inspections that cover 37 points of inspection including the roof. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me - I'd be delighted to tell you about the changes we've gone through since 2006.

Winter will truly tell us if the rats are gone but we were so grateful to have a Cascade take a more proactive step in helping us with our problem. When they came back a week later to do the repairs, one of their traps had indeed caught a huge rat. Unlike with poison bait that other services use, you are not necessarily sure that you'll find the dead rat or if it will die outside. The last thing we wanted was a dead rat in the attic or in the wall.
Description of Work: Cascade Pest Control came out and inspected our attic in which we were sure we had rats. We had hired another service before that which didn't fix our rat problem. But Cascade had a different approach: find entry points and seal them up as well as remove the pests with traditional traps. One of their reps spent an hour looking in the attic and around the eves (with a ladder) to find the entry points. He then gave us a diagram of the house with the rat entry points and a bid if we wanted them to do the fixes but we had the option to do it ourselves. We opted to let him come back and make the repairs.

Mike the tech, came out on the appointed date on time and repaired all the spots were the rats were getting into the crawl space. He also plugged up spots, where there were potential entry places. He caught two more rats in the crawl space. He will come out again, in a month, to do a final trap check. He did a great job, and I would recommend this company. The cost includes the first visit and repairs.
Description of Work: My dogs were the ones to first alert me of a problem, too much attention to the crawl space vents. When I found evidence of rats in my garage and heard them in the walls/crawl space, I came to Angie's list. I thought, I might be able to do this myself. I trapped a rat in the garage one night. I saw him, early the next morning and planned to clean up after I got off work that afternoon. When I got home from work, the rat and trap were gone from the spot that they use to be in. I found the rat and the trap, drug all the way across the garage, to the hole, where the rats were entering the crawl space. The other rats had eaten on this rat (his whole abdominal contents gone,) that's when I knew, this was way out of my realm. Next step, call Angie's list. I went with Cascade Pest Control. They came out ASAP and did a check of the crawl space, attic, and garage. Mike identified where the rats were getting in and recommended solutions. He set traps in the crawl space.

My overall experience was good. The work performed was thorough, and appeared to have been done well. My only complaint is that the inspector was a little condescending and did not offer much information unless I asked very specific questions. Although he was happy to answer any question I had, I had to ask a lot of questions to learn about my situation. Much of the information he gave me once I probed him with questions was very valuable, and I was surprised he hadn't brought it up himself. He also left a mess for me to clean up, but that could not be helped. As far as the work goes, it was great.

Brian, the technician, was prompt, very professional and explained everything he was going to do to take care of the problem. He also drew a diagram of the house to show us exactly where the rats had chewed into the fascia to get into the attic. Brian fixed the hole for free. He advised us to cut trees back at least 3' from any part of the building (rats jump onto the roof from trees). When he came back a week later, he was very unobtrusive in removing the dead rats. I was very creeped out about the whole thing and his professionalism was very reassuring. We will continue to call on Cascade Pest in the future, they were great.
Description of Work: We discovered rats in our attic and called Cascade Pest Control based on their rating and reviews on Angie's List. They came out 2 days after I called. The technician explained what he was going to find out where the rats were getting in, plug the access point and then set traps. He came back a week later to remove the dead rats and left 2 traps in the attic "just in case" (more for my piece of mind than anything, I am sure).

I called with the laundry list, and the operator assured me that as long as the spiders were outside, since they take care of other pests, they're fine. Secondly, termites live in dead, wet wood, and if we didn't have any in our house then we didn't have to worry about them either. Lastly, while a rat can enter into a nickel sized hole into the basement, if we haven't seen any recent signs, and if we check around our house for tightness, we wouldn't need an exterminator. I was initially disappointed to be talked out of getting someone out, but then was relieved that my long list boiled down to ''make sure rats can't get in.'' She indicated she could have someone come out for $295, but by that time, I was confident that if we didn't have rats by now, we are probably okay. And I'd certainly call them again if I needed, and I am confident we wouldn't be hiring them to do any unnecessary treatments.
