 + 1 moreIt went better than I could've imagined. From the 1st time Bob came over to give us an estimate he was courteous, funny and honest. He kept it simple on so many levels. His knowledge of painting, prepping and experience was very helpful. Bob's wisdom when matching color combinations was very insightful. I actually was deterred from my original theme thanks to his insight and oh yes my wife's. Much better than the army colors LOL!!!!! His promptness to getting our house done was excellent. I had other contractors here around the same time as Bob and he was very attuned to the time schedule that we were on. The house was finished on time and looks absolutely awesome. We had a lot of people walk by and comment on how beautiful our house looked and really loved the colors. We want to Thank Bob again for the great job he provided for us. We will definitely use Bob in the future for other projects.

He always called back, e-mailed, and showed up when he said he would. He was very dependable, reliable, and honest. Bob finished the painting and it looks great! Overall, the experience went very smoothly. I would defiinitely recommend Schober Woodworks and am actually scheduled to work with Bob on another painting project in the near future.
Description of Work: Bob painted 5 bedrooms, the living areas, and the front porch. He also pressure washed the porch.

 + 4 moreThe owner Bob is extremely trustworthy and when he says he is going to do something, he will do it. If, for whatever reason things come up, he makes sure you are kept aware the entire time. He does great work; very professional, courteous and efficient. He returned my call within 24 hours and set up an appt. for the estimate within one week. He was very prompt for our appt and very professional. He also took time to explain all the work that would need to be completed. He called within a few days with the estimate. I was impressed with Bob because the entire job went very smoothly. He was very efficient and neat in his work. I highly recommend him and will use them again in a heartbeat.

 + 1 moreI personally had been working on my bath remodel project. Boy was I tired. I called Bob for the finish detail. He had no problem making needed trips to Lowes, Home Depot etc. I worked with Bob closely as I had some exact ideas of how I needed work to progress. Bob is reliable and honest. He is a hard worker. He is self motivated. He is a tad slower than I am used to working with, but all was well, and my project was ahead of schedule anyway. I would use him again. He has a good background in working with older homes, which in Bellingham is a bonus. I would rate my experience a B+.
Description of Work: END OF BATH REMODEL PROJECT: Bob installed decorative trim on 2 doors, added crown molding, and new baseboard molding. He installed a small area of bead board with trim. Bob repaired 3 windows and trim and replaced 1 missing window sill. Helped to make all 3, 123 year old windows, work well again. Stripped years of paint off window pulls, door hinges, painted entry door to bathroom. Painted interior walls. Costs are labor and materials.

Description of Work: Bob Schober responded quickly to my inquiry about re-configuring a bookcase & shelves to fit a larger TV. It is more complicated than it sounds. He has made a site visit, and looked very carefully at what was required. We have scheduled the work and expect him to start on the job next week. So far, the experience has been very professional. I didn't check the Quality box because the work isn't finished but I expect it to be A.

 + -1 moreThe experience was a positive one, and we were impressed with his professional;ism from start to finish. Bob took the time to find the exact shade for the stain, so it would match the existing wood trim. This involved several trips to our house over the course of a few days as he tweaked the color, and we are very pleased with the result. He removed a glass shower door and removed the silicone residue, leaving the tub clean and ready to use. He was scrupulous in his billing, and did not charge us for the time he had to wait for me to come home after he finished sooner than expected.
Description of Work: Bob stained and installed wooden handrails (which we had already) for our staircase. He also removed a glass shower door.

 + 1 moreVery positive experience. I ended up keeping my big hutch I bought on Craigslist, and not moving ahead with a custom-made cabinet. He had some great ideas for tailoring the ready-made hutch to meet my needs and home decor.
Description of Work: Mr. Schober drove in to No. Seattle from Bellingham to keep my appointment for a quote. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and gave me some great tips on coordinating furniture styles. He can build just about any type of cabinet and is very reasonable.

Description of Work: Bob Schober is an excellent cabinet maker who combines the skill of a fine craftsman with the eye of an artist. Everyone who has seen the cabinets in our kitchen has been in awe. Bob is dependable, thoughtful of the client's wishes and reliable. He faced some challenges in working with a log wall and handled the needs of the job with understanding and tact. His attention to detail is very high and when the plans turned into reality of a new kitchen, we were absolutely pleased and delighted. I recommend his work without hesitation.

Bob came to my house 1 day prior to evaluate the job, therefore he came prepared the next day with everything he needed. He arrived 15 minutes early on both days. Bob did amazing job on all the items that were on my to do list. Knowing that all the the items were installed, assembled, and maintance properly will not only make our home more comfortable throughout, it will also run more efficently, so that gives me as a homeowner a peace of mind. Therefore Im pleased to recommend Bob Schober without hesitation for the services he provides. He showed professionalism and ability to get to the bottom of the situation quickly exceeded my expectations. Such a commitment to great customer service is to be commended. Description of Work: I found Bob's name on Angies List and was impressed at the reviews that I read. Bob has recently moved to the Bellingham area and so the reviews were from work done in the Pittsburg area. Bob responded to my phone call and came by my residence the same day. I had a number of issues that needed to be addressed in the interior of my house. These included painting and wallboard repair. I could tell from the initial visit that Bob really knew what needed to be done. He was very professional and took time to look carefully at each item that needed to be done. He completed the work in a much shorter time than I anticipated that it would take. Both my wife and I are extremely happy with the quality of the work and the effort he made to clean up and be tidy at the end of each day. I had received a bid from another person and Bob's bid was lower and I would hard pressed to understand how the quality of work would have been better by the higher bidder. I have additional work that needs to be done on the outside of the house later this year and Bob will be the person that I will have do it.

Description of Work: Bob Schober did a num,ber of projects for me during 2009 through 2011. He built sveral walls (one in a shower to inastall shower door). Replaced a fence in my backyard. Repaired and painted basement floor. Repaired cracks in the walls . Built a number of projects in the apartments we rent out. He had keys to my home and the apartments we rent. He is eminently trustworthy. Meticulous in his work. Prompt in his attention to detail. His prices were very reasonable. If he hadn't moved to Washington, he would still be doing all of my work.

 + 0 moreBob did exactly what he promised, when he promised it. He was courteous and showed up on time every day. When he made and error he deducted the time it took to fix it and paid for the cost of the piece of crown moulding he had to replace. And he did all this without being asked. He did an excellent job of cleaning up each day. It was enjoyable to have him working in our home and we would hire him again without hesitation or reservation. We recommend him to anyone who wants excellent workmanship for a resonable price. He is well worth the hourly rate he charges. We could have gotten someone for half that price, but because Bob is so fast and efficient, we ended up spending less. And we were totally safisfied in every way with the job he did for us. We are also greatful to Angie's List for providing us with an honest, eithical, talented, and efficient worker.
Description of Work: REPAIRED AND TEXTURED HOLE IN OUR CEILING DRYWALL PUT IN WOOD CROWN MOULDING AND BASEBOARD IN SEVERAL ROOMS AND HALLWAYS. REPAIRED AND REFINISHED LARGE ROLL TOP DESK WE LIVE IN AN OLD BUILDING WITH WALLS AND CIELINGS THAT ARE OUT OF PLUMB, OUT OF SQUARE. AND WAVEY IN PLACES.  + 1 moreCalled three different contractors Step up painting Shober Woodworks one or two others Step up Painting was prompt and supplied an estimate but were/are shut down unril Spring. They will probably be my choice for the upper part for which I have their estimate. Shober gave me an hourly charge amount and estimated that we could paint the first floor shingles in 8-10 hours. So far his prediction looks close. We completed 1/2 to 2/3 of the surface B4 weather stopped us. He did not want to do the second story painting. We went ahead with the first phase. I masked the windows and trim and he painted as temperature allowed about 1/2 to 2/3 of the painting is complete and he has been paid for his work up to this point. Jerry Brownfield
Description of Work: We jointly worked on painting my shingle siding. Rain and a required application temperature of 40 degrs F or higher brought thre project to a stutter step halt 2/3s of the way done. Supplies plus labor are included in the cost to date. We will finish in spring.

 + 10 moreWe originally hired Bob from Angie's list after meeting with other contractors who did not leave us with a good feeling at all. My initial impression of him was that he was very trustworthy - and I was right. This was a first time turn around for us and we definitely found the right man to help us. We had asked him to help us with a few things, maybe 3 or 4 tasks. I think he realized that we were in over our heads and gently led in us the right direction, being available at every turn to lend a hand. We were rarely at the jobsite, but were always able to trust that Bob was taking care of things for us and looking out for our best interests. We have worked with other contractors in the past and realize that Bob provided us a very unique and professional experience. He goes above and beyond to get the job done. Anyone who hires him will get a very knowledgeable, professional, honest, punctual and capable contractor. We are looking forward to our next project with him!

 + 2 moreBob tore down existing panelling and replaced with dry wall and insulation. He finished the drywall with ceiling and floor wood molding. He installed doors to provide ready access to our electrical circuit box and our gas meter and water meter. He added panelling around the bar area and installed molding and stained. He added a wood pedestal to our sink in our master bath. All work was done in a very professional manner. Bob even went with us at no charge for his time to Home Depot to help us choose our doors and the decorative molding. He was always extremely prompt and easy to work with and is a careful and meticulous craftsman. The work was done very much to our satisfaction and we are very happy with the price and the finished product.
Description of Work: Bob helped us in our project to remodel our gameroom.

 + 0 moreWorking with Bob was a pleasure. He responded promptly to my initial inquiry and made several visits to my home to measure and dry fit the cabinets before the final installation. He diligently worked through a series of adjustments that had to be made to improve the fit of the cabinets and to secure the top of the windowseat bench. He kept all of the projects on schedule, delivered on the dates promised and was punctual to the minute for home appointments. I would certainly hire Bob again and I highly recommend him to others. I only wish other contractors would follow his example in responsiveness, fair price and professional work ethic.
Description of Work: Bob designed, built, painted and installed three beautiful radiator covers for my home. Each one was a custom job, built to fit radiators that were different sizes, not installed square to the wall, with floors that weren't perfectly level - all the challenges of working in an older home. Two were solid wood; the third was also a window seat with a tile top.
