 + 4 moreThe outcome is fantastic! The time line was interrupted with some pre-scheduled vacations, so maybe took a few weeks longer overall than it would have. Bob and Banner were so easy to work with, listened to what I wanted, offered suggestions that were thoughtful and helpful and were committed to my satisfaction. As with most remodels, there were challenges. The biggest one was creating from scratch a new shower pan for the oversized length of the shower. The issue, as you might imagine, was getting it to drain properly in all directions. But they redid it (at no cost to me) and got it right. I have a lot of respect for their problem solving skills, workmanship and budget conciousness. They are skilled at carpentry, tiling, plumbing, electrical and painting. The whole package! Definitely would bring them to future projects, of which I have many.
Description of Work: Bob Schober and his colleague, Banner Rawley, remodeled and transformed my 1970's style Master bath. This included going from single sink to double vanity, removing old sunken, jetted ,soaking tub, replacing existing 3' square shower with 3x8' shower, moving the plumbing to adjacent wall, installing new comfort height toilet, tiling shower floor and walls and bathroom floor, painting and hanging new bifold closet doors, moving electrical switches, installing new fan and can light, hanging 6' mirror over vanity and, finally painting the walls.

Description of Work: Bob listened carefully to my ideas, studied my sketch and refined the measurements. He also recommended and showed me some woods with which I was unfamiliar. I had to wait a while for him to start my project because he had other orders to finish first. It was worth the wait. The finished project is a work of art while being fully practical. It's obvious that Bob takes pride in craftsmanship and is passionate about his work. Transportation of finished piece to my home and installation pf the cabinet/desk was included in the price. I highly recommend this fine cabinet maker.

Mr. Schober's partner Banner did an excellent job. He was professional, on time, and the work was all completed on time or early. My home looks fabulous, the repair work and painting could not have turned out better. I would recommend these gentlemen to anyone. The price was fair and Banner and his co-workers did a fantastic job. It is hard to find such a hard working group of people who are honest, work hard, do what they say they are going to do and get it done on time and for the price they quoted.
Description of Work: They replaced some siding, installed some flashing and scraped and painted my house and detached garage.

 + 1 moreThe cabinet looks great. The installation did not go well. It didn't quite fit into the wall space and there was much cussing and pushing and shoving and hacking to make it fit. The cabinet still looks great, surprisingly, but surrounding sheetrock does not. The hatch door looked great as well but it didn't quite fit so part of it was cut off on the spot, leaving a huge unfinished portion. Mr. Schober's craftsmanship, especially his matching of stain colors, was exemplary. He communicated well and was punctual. However, he grew quite impatient at the installation process, in an unprofessional kind of way.
Description of Work: Fabricated, stained, and varnished a cabinet and a hatch door.

 + 4 moreRobert was a big help this year working on projects for me. He started with building a door to my attic, then he built a custom kitchen island, repaired a fence, cut a table down to fit a small space, and replaced a screen on my front door. Quite a few projects, all well done. The island turned out beautifully. He measured so it fit the space perfectly, and the wood selected coordinated well with existing cabinetry in the kitchen. It is well built, and very good looking. He was very responsive and made a trip back to the house to fix some glides that weren't gliding properly. He was very responsive with other projects, and was very conscientious about correcting mistakes, and making sure I was satisfied with the work he did. He works collaboratively, so you really end up with the end result you want. I would definitely use him again.

 + 4 moreVery glad to have met Bob earlier this year (based on Angie's List reviews, in fact). We have used him for multiple jobs at a rental house as well as our house, and have always been impressed by the quality of workmanship, service, and value. First was a kitchen island retrofit that required some careful communication about details - no problem, expectations exceeded. Then interior paint - a large room, a small room, and some touch-up - reasonable quote, prompt completion. Then exterior paint at our house, coordinated with a gutter replacement (which we had someone else for), had to work around the onset of fall rain but got it done. Also excellent quality work and completed with minimal disturbance to my stay-at-home family. We were picky about prep (pressure wash and caulk) and it's refreshing to work with people who are flexible and show they want what is best for the house. And finally a day of small jobs at a rental place, for which it was obvious that Bob could do a much better and faster job than I could. (And yes, he did.) Both Bob and his associate Banner exhibit a high standard of professionalism, do great work and are very easy to work with, and complete jobs within a reasonable timeline and budget. Will gladly call again when next needed.

The chest turned out so much better than I ever could have imagined.  + 5 moreWe live out of state and recently purchased a house in Port Orchard and decided to remodel the kitchen. After scouring through Angie?s List and by direct contact via emails and phone calls to several contractors, Bob Schober of Schober Woodworks was by far the standout for his responsiveness and willingness to take on the challenge. Because of the commuting distance, we all decided it would be best if Bob stayed at the house during the project. His adaptability to situations shone through during the renovation as well. After the old cabinets were removed and ceiling was opened up, Bob suggested that installing a larger kitchen window would balance the kitchen. He was right, and although this meant another change and added work, it made a huge improvement in the look of our kitchen. Bob stayed in our house with dismantled kitchen, slept on a cot, putting in long days (sometimes 12 hours) to move the project along at a quick pace while maintaining the high quality of workmanship. Despite the potentially major crisis at the beginning of the project, Bob not only helped to minimize its impact, but proved that he really has the customer?s best interest at heart. It was a pleasure working with and getting to know Bob. We highly recommend him for his honest no-nonsense approach to getting things done and at a very reasonable cost.
Description of Work: Kitchen demo to remove drop down ceiling and install two skylights. remove old window and install a new larger window, remove old cabinets and appliances and install new cabinets, replacing sheetrock and siding.

 + 0 moreThis has been a very good experience. The quality of the work is excellent, and best of all, Bob is very good to work with. He listens to what you want, and offers suggestions to make the project work well. He is a creative and caring craftsman. The fact that he appreciates that the customer needs to be kept informed about the progress of the project really demonstrates his professionalism. Bob is mindful that cost is an issue, and does his best of offer ideas to make a project affordable without sacrificing quality. Working with him is a pleasure. This part of the project went very well. Bob is so meticulous and cares so much about the work he does, it is an inspiration to work with him. He always checks in and updates his progress on the project, so you never feel that he has forgotten your project. He lets you know that the project is as important to him as it is to you.
Description of Work: I have just started working with Bob, and he is a very dedicated and creative artist. I can't wait to see the bookcases he is building for me. He also is working on a more routine project for my kitchen, which he has priced very well. When the work is complete, I will elaborate on my review. But the process of getting the bid went very well. He kept in touch throughout the bid process, so I never felt that he had forgotten about my work. More later . . . Bob came and installed my shelves for my cookbooks. They are very well made and sturdy. He has also raised the island counter so that it is level with the rest of the counters. It looks great and now I can use my kitchen chairs. The cost indicated covers both jobs. Bob is very busy, and he kept me appraised of the progress as he built the box for the counter and the shelves, so I knew when he would be able to install them. He showed up when he said he would and on time. The next project is book shelves for my computer area. It is a big project, and he has given me a projected delivery date, and based on past performance, I have every confidence that he will keep me informed of the progress. I will post more about the bookshelves when that project is completed. Bob delivered and installed the first part of the bookcases this week. It was a very big project, and the installation took him a long time, as he wanted everything to be perfect. I am so pleased with the result, and can't wait for the smaller bookcase for the other side of my desk. The cherry finish is beautiful and the gold beadboard backing is a perfect contrast to the wood and the cream walls in the room. I took a picture to attach, but it doesn't do justice to the actual bookcase. This was a difficult project, especially fitting the bookcases where they meet in the corner. Bob put in a lot of time to make sure they came together beautifully. The bookcases look as if they have been in place for years.

He is an artist when it comes to working with wood, design and creation, no matter what it is: cabinet making, railing and all woodworking and he gets his clients involved in the design and guides them along the way. He is very responsive and professional. His work is professional grade in construction with the best materials, finishing and installation. He told me "he builds cabinets as he does fine furniture" and that is so true. He takes pride in his workmanship and is very particular in choosing his materials. He has taken our outdated 1960's kitchen and made the house beautiful with the wonderful new kitchen cabinetry, pantry and beautiful island and front room banister. We definitely will hire him again without question.
Description of Work: Designed and built all new kitchen cabinetry, pantry cupboard and a very large island for the kitchen with drawers and cabinets. They included sliding shelves and other features. He also wrapped the beam, post and window. We choose a high end walnut and he was very meticulous about his selection of pieces. He stopped right in the middle of building cabinets to build us a beautiful wood banister. We needed something quickly for child safety reasons but he still made a very beautiful walnut and maple banister very solid and quickly.

He takes the time to do the job right and always checked with me if there was any question about certain details of the job. He delivered the products even though there was substantial distance to the jobsite. Excellent communication skills, you were never kept "in the dark" as to the progress of the job. Bob built me a "Tailgate Bench" and some other very different structures and took the job on with enthusiasm. Always a positive attitude. I will give Bob additional jobs even though I live a good distance from his shop. I would highly recommend Bob for any task!

He gave good ideas on wood, design and very receptive of our ideas and suggestions. No games, no phone tags and no hassles with him. My wife and I think of him as a family friend now. He is that nice. But work wise he is just EXCELLENT. He is a A++++++ kinda person.

 + -1 moreOverall the experience went very well. The quality of workmanship which were provided by 3 of them was exactly what he stated he would do in accordance with the bid. Some surprises in the paint but that was maybe my fault and the paint stores fault, not a big deal because how it turned out. There were some rainy days mixed in but they rescheduled everything and was back as promised. Some areas which were hard to reach and was not anticipated, but we both agreed on a small addition to get it done right and safely. Bob is really true to his word and stayed on top of it. It didn't feel he was juggling 10 different projects at once but rather concentrated on my house until it was finished. They all cleaned up and put everything back and did a final walk through with me.
Description of Work: They pressure washed, taped/masked and painted the exterior of our home. They also did all the trim painting as well.
