SECURITY SAFE & LOCK

I contacted another highly related lock smith on Angies List who pointed me in the direction of Security Safe & Lock (because we are on the east side and just outside of his serivce area). I'm glad he pointed me in their direction as we were very happy with the work they performed and the scheduling experience. I contacted their office via email to make an appointment and they were happy to let me choose any day/time I wanted (yay!). The locksmith showed up on time and did the bore+install of a new deadbolt for us (we bought the deadbolt separately as we wanted to install a specific type of lock). The work was completed quickly and was good quality (+ they cleaned up after themselves). Price wise, they were the best of 3 quotes which I received and they also included a 15% Angies list discount.

Provided great service. They were able to schedule us on relatively short notice, had fair pricing. Locksmith was very professional, did the work requested and explained options for other locks which we decided to not change. He also adjusted the closing mechanisms for us, greatly improving them.

We wanted the front door lock changed. We bought our own lock. The technician showed up during the provided given window. He was nice and polite. Changed the front door lock, put the fish eye. The only concern is extra charge for half an hour :(.

Overall, fantastic! Service was stellar from start to finish, the tech went above and beyond and answered all of my many questions. My only small issue was with the fact that they advertised an Angie's List 15% customer discount. There were no specifics or caveats listed on Angie's List about the discount, so I thought the discount was on everything (parts and service). In fact, the discount was only on the service and didn't apply to the parts (which was only made known to me on the 2nd (install) visit), so my potential $215 savings turned out to be a much smaller $22.50 savings on the labor. Not a deal-breaker, but since I got several bids, it was a little frustrating to realize that I was comparing companies using incorrect pricing.

He seemed to take considerable time and care to make sure the storm-door turn handle was securely re-installed and both locks perfectly aligned. They both now turn noticeably more smoothly.

I was very happy with how quickly I was able to schedule an appointment by email (which I prefer versus by telephone, since it's much easier to make sure the time & other info is right), how prompt the locksmith was (right on time!), and how efficiently he got the job done.

We had reason to be concerned and wanted to change our locks quickly. Called Security Safe and Lock on a Saturday and they we at our house within an hour. The locksmith changed all our lock cores and even fixed a problem with the front door, and we were done in an hour or less. No muss or fuss. Just great service from a friendly and helpful locksmith.

I really like the service. The locksmith came on time. And he explained to me different options I could go with. Very professional and pleasant to work with. I would definitely recommend the service to others.

Aaron arrived early and described the process. He carries a large supply of parts in his van and was able to find a deadbolt that fit our existing keys. He installed the lock efficiently and professionally. He was very helpful with other questions that I had regarding another lock. He included additional keys at no extra cost. I would highly recommend this company.

Their service was excellent but they were a little expensive.

Aaron Anderson was the technician sent out from Security Safe & Lock. Aaron called first to let us know he was on the way, and was on time with the time window originally scheduled. He was able to install the broken parts on the Baldwin front door, including having to do some modification on the door handle opening. We then needed Aaron to replace a door knob and lock on an entry door from the garage into the house. We had purchased the door handle/lock from a hardware store. Before he did any work, he explained that the key used for this entry would not work on the brand we had gotten (Kwik Set). The Weiser lock that was on the door would work on a Kwik Set lock/key, but a Kwik Set lock could not be keyed to a Weiser lock, due to difference in thickness of the keys. Aaron had a Schlage knob/lock with him that matched the door hardware even better than what we had gotten. And he was able to key the Schlage so it opened multiple doors and we can now use just one key for entry, rather than the two different keys we needed before. Both the quality of work and the manner in which Aaron explained the work to us were excellent.

Aaron Anderson did an excellent job of installing our small home safe in a difficult area of our house. He really went above and beyond my expectations to make it work and was so pleasant and positive about everything. I was really impressed with the quality of his work and his overall attitude! The staff at Security Safe and Lock are very friendly and knowledgeable and the company sells high quality products.

For some reason the previous owner of my townhouse installed a Medeco high security lock on the front door and didn't provide the keycard to enable replacement keys to be produced. To make a long story short, Security Safe and Lock were the only locksmith in the area who were able to create keys that would work. Home Depot: fail, parking lot place in Fred Meyer: fail. The staff at Safe and Lock cut one key for me based on my own key and told me that there was a good chance it would not work and suggested that the best thing would be to bring in the lock mechanism. They were right - the key didn't work so I took in the lock mechanism and they made me a bunch of copies on the spot.

Ralph was great, he did a beautiful job on both doors, paying attention to the details. We have a new home and when he left, it looked just as good as when he arrived. I was impressed with his professionalism. I also have to applaud Sherry Penrose. We went back and forth prior to the appointment in regards to the options I had - she made sure that what I got would be right for my house. I would highly recommend and use them again!

Excellent customer service. The gentleman spent a fair amount of time trying to cut a key for our 1926 mortise lock. He was unable to find a blank that was appropriate and was unable to cut the key. I expected to have to pay for at least his travel time from Bellvue, but because he couldn't cut the key he didn't charge us anything. He also provided us with options for changing the lockset etc. Highly recommend this company.

The job encountered some bumps, but the ultimate result is A-1...and furthermore, the vendor made extra efforts to make amends for problems to which it accidentally contributed. I'd recommend this vendor to anyone. VISIT #1 Deadbolt: With the assistance of the vendor's representative, Jay, I was able to determine the type of deadbolt we desired. We were also able to identify the types of finishes on the deadbolt hardware that would best match our home's existing hardware. We observed that the existing hardware has a different finish on the inside of the door from the finish on the outside. This meant a special order would be required to obtain the right components. Gate lock: The gate lock was badly rusted and required replacement. The vendor's rep assured me that he understood our goal, which was to install a locking doorhandle that could be left unlocked, permitting access/egress without a key, OR locked so that anyone wishing to enter or exit would need a key. The cost of this initial call was $145.27. This seemed fair to me An estiamte was prepared to install the deadbolt and replace the gate lock. The price charged for the hardware seemed high to me. I researched the cost of the hardware on the internet. It was apparent that I could save about 35%. I mentioned this to the scheduling person at Security Safe & Lock, who had presented me (via email) with the estiamte. She (Sherry Penrose) agreed that lower prices could be obtained from high-volume hardware vendors. She said that i was at liberty to buy the needed components. She said that SS&L would not increase the price of its labor quote for installation. ding the hardware: I sought SS&L's assistance to determine the correct vendor and part numbers for the needed components. They supplied exact part numbers for the deadbolt components. They offered a description of the hardware that i needed for the gate. I then found reputable sources, explained the function/performance I was seeking, arrived at conviction over the phone that I'd determined the proper components, and purchased the gear. Upon arrival of the hardware in the mail, I scheduled a second visit by the locksmith. VISIT #2 Jay returned to install the deadbolt and gate handleset. He installed the deadbolt iwth incredible speed. The install is very clean. The finishes that Jay recommended make a great match with our now-antique door hardware. The result is aesthetically great (useful outcome for those who have uh, discerning wives). The cost of the install was a fraction of that quoted to me by a general contractor. Jay's special cutting tools and roughly 20 years experience have lots to do with the low cost and spotless install. The handleset that I supplied for installation in the gate turned out to be the wrong gear. What I purchased required a key at all times to enter and exit the gate. The type of handleset that I purchased is called a "storeroom lockset." It is also called an "institutional lockset." No good. Turns out that what I wanted was a "store lock." At this point, with no doorhandle to the front gate, I decided to simply install the handleset as an interim solution. However, a switch was essential. Our young kids are not equipped to travel with keys at all times. I arranged for the vendor of the lockset to accept a return. I identified the correct hardware and purchased it. Security Safe & Lock promptly scheduled a third visit. VISIT #3 Jay returned a third time to remove the incorrect handleset and install the new handleset. He keyed the new handleset to our hosue keyset. He helped me to prepare the incorrect hardware for return. I have since returned it. I was prepared to pay for trip #3, since a case could be made that responsibility for the incorrect purchaase could not be clearly assigned to SS&L's personnel. However, SS&L refused to accept payment, saying that they bore responsibility for my failure to get the right hardware. I was (and still am) amazed. NET RESULT: Perfect outcome, as measured by the appearance, function, and cash cost of the result. One downside = considerable cost in extra *time invested by me (and also the vendor). However, it was an honest mistake and the vendor made excellent efforts to compensate. From all indications (quality fo work, punctuality, speed, experience), such errors are NOT commonplace with this vendor.
