Description of Work: I took my desktop computer to A Plus Computer Tech, where they diagnosed a bad power supply unit and replaced it. They installed a solid state hard drive. They were easy to get ahold of, they did the work promptly, and my computer is working great! They are open seven days a week 10am to 6pm, which is so convenient! I will definitely use them in the future.

Description of Work: Virus infected my Dell Windows XP desktop. Virus was not detected by Norton. The desktop would boot up, then immediately shut down. Technician was able to detect the virus and eliminate it. |Technician's comment - the hackers know how to get by Norton, McAfee, and other commonly used virus detection software. He also answered all of my questions and shared helpful information. I worked with computers and networks for over 20 years so I know - this technician is extremely knowledgeable. |Angie's List members are prioritized (rush) without having to pay the $50 "rush" charge. |APlus Computer is also full service. Not only did they remove the virus and load the new virus software (approx $40), but he also recovered my data files from the Dell and copied to the new HP computer, and he recovered software keys so that I could download Windows Office 207 to the new HP. All that for $225 + tax.

Description of Work: I called A PLUS to look at some problems I was having with my network. I made an appointment with them, but was able to resolve my specific issue before the appointment. I decided to have them come anyway and look over the network to see if there was anything glaring that needed to be addressed. The tech determined that the network was in good shape aside from a few minor suggestions. Since he didn't have to do much, he only charged me the trip fee of $45. Honestly, having used similar services previously (from another provider in another state) I was prepared to pay ~3x that amount. I was very pleasantly surprised. | |In addition, while onsite, the tech made a suggestion about an alternate piece of hardware I might try. I wound up purchasing the hardware--although not from A PLUS--and had it mostly configured when it stopped working. Thinking that I'd possibly done something wrong, as since the tech had recommended the hardware, I called A PLUS again. The same tech came out and looked at the hardware. He ultimately determined the hardware had, in fact, failed (as opposed to me having mis-configured it.) I think he felt bad that he'd recommended this specific hardware and then I had a bad experience with it. Though I didn't fault him--after all, I didn't even purchase the hardware from him--and was willing to pay at the very least another trip fee, the tech refused to take any payment from me! | |I wound up sending the faulty hardware back for a replacement. Seems like I got a lemon the first time; the replacement has indeed proven reliable, easy to configure, and requires far less maintenance than the hardware it replaced. I am very happy with the service and advice provided by A PLUS, and will absolutely call on them for future needs.

Description of Work: He had already installed two new hard drives a few weeks in the past. We had some more issues. He found out that one dared drive was a lemon and replaced it for no further charges

Description of Work: When our old computer crashed, the geeks at the big box store told us the information on the old hard drive was impossible to retrieve. We brought the old hard drive to A Plus Computer Tech to see if they could recover the data. They evaluated the hard drive (at no charge) and were able to recover all of the data, saving it an external hard drive.

Description of Work: we were having trouble with our wireless net work. darrin relocated the router and helped us load the proper software. he also fixed some software issues on my daughters apple, and did the same on my son's pc.
